00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog about the Ford Taurus
00:07The Ford Taurus is an old acquaintance with a new face, or rather a new name, because in China it is now called Mondeo
00:15Originally a fixture among 5m sedans in the USA, it was taken off the market in 2019. However, it continued to enjoy great popularity in the Middle East and China
00:27The current version of the Taurus, introduced in 2022, is almost 5m long, almost 1.9m wide and offers a generous interior design with a wheelbase of around 3m
00:40While the car is now called Mondeo in China, it remains true to its original name in the desert and is available there as the 8th generation
00:48In terms of equipment, the new Taurus is modern and high quality
00:53The interior features a minimalist digital cockpit with an 8-inch instrument display and a 13.2-inch touchscreen in the center console
01:01A panoramic roof, wireless charging and a variety of assistance systems are also included, as a support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
01:11Particularly striking is the simple center console with a rotary switch instead of a classic gearshift lever
01:19On the outside, the Taurus relies on narrow, high-positioned headlights that flank a wide radiator grille
01:25The rear is dominated by triple-beam taillights, which are stylistically reminiscent of the Mustang and Mustang Mach-E
01:33A continuous LED strip across the entire width of the tailgate creates a striking look
01:39Under the hood is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 238 horsepower coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission
01:47This makes the sedan well-equipped for the demanding climatic conditions in the Middle East
01:53Ford has tested the Taurus extensively to ensure that it can withstand dust, sand and extreme temperatures
02:01These tests ensured that the engine, transmission, drivetrain and cooling systems are up to the high demands
02:09Characteristics that would also suit it well in Europe
02:13However, anyone hoping to drive the Taurus here in Germany will be disappointed
02:19As Ford is increasingly focusing on electric cars and demand for classic sedans is declining
02:25The Taurus will continue to be reserved for markets outside of Europe
02:29The example near Austin shows that export from China is certainly possible
02:34So why not to Europe too?
02:37As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description
