00:30Way, way up in the cold, cold north
00:39Lives a very special snowy white bear
00:42His name is Santa Bear
00:46Oh, that wasn't always his name
00:50He earned it on his very first Christmas
00:53This is how it happened
00:56One day before the coldest part of winter had arrived
01:05The little snow bear and his family
01:07Were fishing on the ice beside the enormous ocean
01:11Suddenly, a terrible, thundering sound
01:20Rumbled through the air
01:22All around the little bear
01:24The ice began to crack
01:26Mother, father, help me, he cried
01:33But the ice broke apart with a frightening roar
01:37And he began to float away into the ocean
01:40His mother and father watched helplessly
01:52As their precious little cubs sailed off alone
01:55On the cold and stormy sea
01:58The little bear scraped at the slippery ice
02:09And held on as tightly as he could
02:12Huge waves splashed over
02:16The fish he had caught was washed back into the ocean
02:20The little snow bear was alone
02:29All alone
02:32Suddenly, a mighty gust of wind snatched him up
02:40And he spun and tumbled and whirled through the air
02:44Then, the little bear landed
02:48Plop!
02:52He looked up
02:53And saw that he was surrounded
02:56By hundreds of tall, brown arms
03:01He was afraid that the arms would reach down
03:05And pluck him up
03:06And carry him off
03:08The little snow bear trembled
03:11And closed his eyes
03:13And thought about his mother and father
03:15He curled into a white furry ball
03:18Even with his eyes shut tight
03:21Big tears rolled down his fuzzy cheeks
03:25Before long, he heard footsteps
03:35Coming closer and closer
03:38They stopped
03:41The little bear sprang up
03:43And started to run off
03:45But a gentle, friendly voice called to him
03:48Don't run away
03:50He stopped
03:52And turned to see a little girl
03:54Don't be afraid, little bear
03:58And suddenly, he wasn't afraid anymore
04:01I want to be your friend, she said
04:05My name is Marie
04:07What's yours?
04:11The little bear just stared at her
04:13And then, he smiled
04:17Marie took his hand
04:25And they walked off together
04:27He told Marie how frightened he was
04:30Of those gigantic brown arms
04:32But she only laughed
04:34Those are trees, little bear
04:37They won't hurt you at all
04:39They help to keep us warm
04:41And for the first time
04:43Since he was with his family
04:45The little bear felt safe
04:47Why don't you come to my house
04:51For something to eat?
04:52Asked Marie
04:52He thought that was a fine idea
04:55Just ahead, in a clearing
05:04Was a cabin
05:05This is where I live
05:08Said Marie
05:09The cabin seemed so bright
05:12And warm
05:13That the little snow bear
05:14Scurried right through the door
05:16Inside
05:19He skidded to a stop
05:21And looked at a very strange creature
05:24Across the room
05:25It was orange
05:27And yellow
05:28And red
05:29All at the same time
05:32And it crackled
05:33And crunched
05:34And popped
05:35In a most unusual way
05:37The frightened little bear
05:39Turned to run away
05:40Don't be afraid
05:42St. Marie
05:42This is fire
05:44It keeps us warm
05:46And lights our cabin
05:48And cooks our food
05:49See?
05:51Our dinner is almost ready
05:53Sure enough
05:55The food in the pot
05:56Began to bubble and boil
05:58It smelled delicious
06:00The little bear's nose twitched
06:03And he suddenly realized
06:05How awfully hungry he was
06:08Just then
06:13The cabin door opened
06:15And in walked Marie's grandfather
06:17A cheery old man
06:19With bright crinkly eyes
06:21And a sunny smile
06:24Welcome
06:26Said grandfather
06:27Please sit down
06:30And eat with us
06:31The little bear
06:33Sniffed the bowl of food
06:34And sighed
06:36Then
06:37He scooped out
06:39Some food with his paw
06:40This is strange fish
06:42But it's very tasty
06:44He said
06:45Politely licking his paw
06:46He had never tasted
06:48Anything like this before
06:50But it isn't fish at all
06:55Laughed Marie
06:55It's porridge
06:57With honey and milk
06:59And berries and nuts on top
07:01The bear soon forgot
07:09How lonely he was
07:10And ate everything in sight
07:14After dinner
07:20He yawned and rubbed his sleepy eyes
07:25With his furry paw
07:26Grandfather picked him up
07:29And tucked him into a soft
07:32Warm
07:33Wonderful bed
07:35The bear was so tired
07:38That he fell asleep
07:39Right away
07:41As it grew to be winter
07:54Marie taught the little bear
07:56How to make cookies
07:57How to dance
07:59And how to read
08:00Most of all though
08:07He loved listening to Marie
08:09Tell stories of circuses
08:11And sea voyages
08:12Of kings and castles
08:19Of pirates and princesses
08:25And he would tell her stories
08:30Of his life
08:31In the far
08:32Far north
08:33Together they explored the forest
08:43Meeting most of the animals
08:45Who lived there
08:45They met some brown bears
08:52He and the brown cubs
08:54Would chase each other
08:56Around the towering trees
08:57And roll and play
08:59Endlessly in the snow
09:01And when the brown cubs
09:10Would get all covered
09:11With snow
09:11They reminded the little bear
09:14Of his own brothers
09:15And sisters
09:16Every night he went to bed
09:22And dreamed of his family
09:24In the far, far north
09:27Later on
09:40As the winter winds howled
09:43They spent more and more time
09:45In the cozy cabin
09:46One night
09:48Marie told the little bear
09:49About a very special day
09:52Called Christmas
09:54On the night before Christmas
09:57She began
09:58Eight flying reindeer
10:00Pull a sleigh across the sky
10:02The driver is a jolly
10:05Kind-hearted fellow
10:06With a big tummy
10:08And a white beard
10:09And red cheeks
10:11His name is Santa Claus
10:14And he delivers Christmas presents
10:16To every child in the world
10:19In just one night
10:21Truly
10:23This is a wonderful world
10:26To live in
10:27Thought the bear
10:28And he drifted off to sleep
10:32Dreaming of flying reindeer
10:34In this jolly old gentleman
10:37Christmas Eve dawned
11:00And grandfather felt terribly sick
11:04He had fallen into the icy river
11:08By the time he reached the cabin
11:10He had icicles hanging all over him
11:13His fingers and toes felt frozen
11:16And his whole body was shaking
11:19What shall we do, little bear?
11:23Sobbed Marie
11:24The firewood is running out
11:26The little snow bear thought hard
11:30Harder than everything
11:34He decided he must go out in the forest
11:41And get some firewood himself
11:43The bear rushed out the door
11:48And down the path and plunged
11:50Ker-plop
11:51Into a snow drift
11:53Right up to his chin
11:54Help!
11:56He cried
11:56Help!
11:58Get me out!
11:59I have to save grandfather
12:03A big brown animal
12:05With branches on his head
12:07Appeared out of the forest
12:09My name is Moose
12:15Said the animal
12:16The little bear explained to the big moose
12:19Why he had to find firewood
12:21I'll help you
12:24Grab my antlers
12:26And pull yourself up
12:28Onto my back
12:29He carried the bear
12:32Up the frozen stream
12:33To the beaver lodge
12:34But
12:46The beavers had used all their wood
12:49To chew down more trees
12:51Would take them a long
12:52Long time
12:54By now
13:02By now it was getting dark
13:03The little bear
13:04Was heartbroken
13:06He would not be able
13:08To save Marie's grandfather
13:10Tears rolled down his cheek
13:13And plopped
13:15Under the moose's back
13:17Just then
13:25The little snow bear
13:28Heard bells jingling above his head
13:30He looked up
13:32And saw a red sleigh
13:36Pulled by eight reindeer
13:38Flying through the sky
13:40It swooped down
13:42And landed right in front
13:44Of the moose and the bear
13:46Out climbed someone
13:48Who could only be
13:51Santa Claus
13:52Ho, ho, ho
13:55He laughed
13:56And who are you?
13:59He looked at the little snow bear
14:01You must be new to this forest
14:04I am
14:07My real home
14:09Is in the far
14:10Far north
14:11So is mine
14:14Said Santa
14:15With a twinkling smile
14:17And what would you like
14:20To have for Christmas?
14:22Nuts?
14:23Berries?
14:24A pot of honey?
14:26You can have anything you wish
14:29The little bear
14:32Thought of his family
14:33And how very much
14:34He wanted to be with them
14:36But he said
14:38Firewood
14:40Firewood?
14:43But bears don't build fires
14:46Then the words began
14:49To tumble out of the little bear
14:51About Marie
14:52And how sick
14:53Her grandfather was
14:54Santa nodded gravely
15:00And went over
15:02To the bulging pack
15:03On his sleigh
15:04Out of it
15:09He drew a small saw
15:11He handed it to the bear
15:13Then
15:14He took an axe
15:15From his toolbox
15:16And with a few quick whacks
15:18He cut some small trees
15:20Now you saw the trees
15:23Into logs
15:24Santa said
15:25The bear tried the saw
15:27On the bark of a tree
15:28It really cut
15:30Soon
15:35He had a stack of logs
15:37Almost as tall
15:38As he was
15:39Santa went back to his pack
15:47And pulled out
15:49A shiny red sled
15:51Then
15:52Santa and the little bear
15:54Quickly piled
15:56All the logs
15:57Onto the sled
15:58When the sled was full
16:03Santa jumped in his sleigh
16:05And led the way
16:07To Marie's cabin
16:08Will we be in time?
16:11Worryed the bear
16:11Inside the cabin
16:19The fire was completely out
16:22And it was so cold
16:24That Marie could see her breath
16:26She listened to her grandfather's
16:29Troubled breathing
16:30And worried
16:31Suddenly
16:35She heard sleigh bells
16:38She ran to the window
16:41And saw eight beautiful reindeer
16:43Pulling a magnificent sleigh
16:46Carrying Santa Claus himself
16:48Behind Santa was the little snow bear
16:51Pulling a sled full of firewood
16:54Soon a fire was blazing on the hearth
17:02And the smell of hot soup
17:04And the smell of hot soup
17:04Filled the air
17:06Marie's grandfather sat up
17:09And began to eat
17:11His cheeks turned rosy
17:13And his eyes began to sparkle
17:16Santa said
17:18You can thank this special fellow
17:21For your rescue
17:22The little bear smiled shyly
17:25Before long
17:31Santa had to leave
17:32After all
17:34It was Christmas Eve
17:35And he had a lot of presents
17:36To deliver
17:37He took the little snow bear
17:39Outside
17:39I'm way behind
17:41In delivering my presents
17:43Could you take these gifts
17:45To all the animals
17:46In the forest
17:47And to Marie
17:48And her grandfather
17:50For me
17:51With that
17:52Santa sprang
17:54Into his sleigh
17:55Called out to his reindeer
17:57Waved to the little bear
17:58And streaked off
18:00Through the sky
18:01Like a comet
18:02The bear set off
18:10With the packages
18:10He delivered them
18:12High and low
18:13Up and down
18:17In and out
18:20And everywhere
18:21In between
18:22And finally
18:24When all the animals
18:26Had their Christmas presents
18:28The little bear
18:29Fell
18:30Into bed
18:31He was dreaming
18:34Of his family
18:35When sleigh bells
18:36Awakened him
18:37He ran outside
18:41Ho, ho, ho
18:44Cried Santa
18:44When he saw
18:45The little snow bear
18:46You have done
18:48Such a fine job
18:49That I want you
18:51To be my helper
18:52From now on
18:54Your name
18:56Will be
18:57Santa bear
18:58You shall deliver presents
19:00Every Christmas eve
19:02Santa reached
19:04Into his nearly empty pack
19:06Here
19:07Your very own
19:09Special hat
19:11And scarf
19:12Santa bear
19:20Jumped up
19:21And down
19:21He had never
19:23Been so proud
19:24And so happy
19:25In all his life
19:27And one more thing
19:30Santa Claus said
19:31Your Christmas wish
19:33Was for firewood
19:34Isn't there anything
19:37You would like
19:38For yourself
19:39Santa bear gulped
19:43And said
19:44More than anything else
19:46I would like to go home
19:49To my family
19:50And so you will
19:53Replied Santa
19:54Your home is not
19:56Very far from mine
19:57So I'll take you there
19:59Myself
19:59We can leave
20:01Right away
20:01Santa bear
20:03Ran into the cabin
20:05And found
20:05Grandfather and Marie
20:07By the fire
20:07Grandfather
20:09Patted Santa bear
20:10On his furry head
20:11And thanked him
20:12For saving his life
20:13Santa bear
20:18Turned to Marie
20:19With tears
20:21In their eyes
20:21They hugged
20:23Each other
20:23Don't be sad
20:26I'll see you
20:28Next year
20:29They both said
20:30Going back outside
20:36Santa bear
20:37Wrapped his scarf
20:38Wrapped his scarf
20:38Around himself
20:39Pulled his hat
20:40Down over his ears
20:41And climbed into
20:42Santa's sleigh
20:43He waved goodbye
20:46To Marie and her
20:46Grandfather
20:47And then
20:49They were off
20:50In minutes
21:02In minutes
21:02They had left
21:03The forest behind
21:04And were flying
21:05Over a dazzling
21:07White ice cap
21:08Santa bear
21:10Could see
21:11Something below
21:11It was his own
21:16Family
21:17In no time at all
21:19He was hugging
21:20And kissing
21:21His mother
21:22And his father
21:23And his brothers
21:24And sisters
21:25We search
21:27Every day
21:28Said his father
21:29We never gave up hope
21:32Oh mother
21:33Father
21:34I've dreamed of you
21:36Every night
21:37And
21:37I've learned so much
21:40Of people
21:40And trees
21:42And fire
21:43And guess what
21:45You must call me
21:48Santa bear
21:49From now on
21:50They wanted to know
21:52How he got
21:53Such a name
21:54Well
21:55That's a very long story
21:58Explained Santa bear
21:59I'll have to begin
22:02At the beginning
22:04And that's exactly
22:07What he did
22:20I'll have to begin
22:22I'll have to begin
22:23I'll have to begin
22:24I'll have to begin
22:26I'll have to begin
22:27I'll have to begin
