00:16enforcement officers uncovered the misuse during an inspection earlier this week.
00:22He said investigations revealed the outlet had been selling imported frozen meat from
00:26Japan and Australia, each bearing halal certification from their countries of origin.
00:32However, he stressed that such certifications do not replace or validate the Malaysian halal
00:37certification SPHM. Dr. Mohamed Hazimin said the outlet had been warned by the Malacca Islamic
00:45Religious Department, Jayim, in 2023 for a similar offence. During the latest raid on Wednesday,
00:52officers instructed the company to remove or cover the halal signage within three days and
00:58to delete any halal-related words or logos from its social media platforms.
01:03He said the outlet's management admitted they did not possess an SPHM and had relied on assurances
01:10from suppliers that their products were halal. Officers also found the outlet using an unauthorized
01:17electronic weighing scale for commercial purposes. The outlet was penalized for misleading consumers
01:23into believing its products were halal. The case is being investigated under the Weights and
01:28Measures Act 1972 and Order 4, Subsection 1 of the Trade Description's Definition of Halal,
01:35Order 2011.
