Tourists will have to pay to visit the Twelve Apostles, it has been confirmed but not everyone is happy about it. Here's what people had to say about it.

00:00If you're going to build all this infrastructure, I can see that it would command a bit of a cost.
00:04I think it doesn't make sense.
00:06I don't like that idea at all.
00:15I think I'm pretty devastated because we're pensioners and it's an Australian icon.
00:20And it used to be 12 apostles and now there's only 8.
00:23So if they're going to charge, they can only charge a dollar each.
00:25And that's a shame, but everywhere in the world is charging.
00:33So I don't know.
00:35I hope $5.
00:37I don't like that idea at all.
00:40You shouldn't have to pay for it when you didn't all these years past.
00:43And how much would you pay if they brought in a fee?
00:46Well, it depends if I'd seen it before or not, I suppose.
00:51$10.
00:53I would pay like $100.
00:56$100?
00:57Yeah.
00:58I think if you're going to build all this infrastructure, I can see that it would command a bit of
01:02a cost.
01:03Probably around about $10, something like that.
01:05Seems appropriate.
01:06Well, we're newcomers to the area.
01:08It's the first time we've ever been here.
01:09To be honest, having driven a few hours to get here, we'd be happy to pay $10, $20, whatever it's
01:14going to cost to get in.
01:16Because, hey, it's a natural wonder.
01:19Why wouldn't we?
01:20I think it doesn't make sense.
01:22Because it's a good place and some things shouldn't be commercialised.
01:28How much do you think you should pay for it or how much would you pay?
01:31Like, max to max $5, $10 for a day's park.
01:36Well, yeah, this is something that's been a bit of an icon to travel this road and people being travelled.
01:42Oh, this is about my fourth time to start charging now.
01:46Like, it's a bit of a tourist spot for the whole of Australia.
01:53And just typical, like everything else in Victoria, they'll start charging.
01:59Nothing's free anymore.
02:00What do you think a suitable price would be?
02:02I don't know.
02:04I think if you're not Australian, you can charge them.
02:07But it should be free for Australians.
02:09When I look at the infrastructure and that around here and the upkeep, I think it's fair to have a
02:14charge.
02:15Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of work that needs to be done to keep the place looking good
02:20and make it environmentally friendly so that people don't damage it.
02:25So, yeah, I think it's appropriate to have a charge, but I don't think it would need to be a
02:29big one.
02:30And, yeah, what do you think a suitable price would be?
02:31Oh, I don't know, $10 or something like that.
02:34You know, I think if it's $30 or $40, it would be way over the top.
02:37Got to think of families, you know, maybe, you know, for young people with families,
02:42might need to be, you know, concessional, you know, not too expensive.
02:46But, yeah, for us, you know, $10, we'd be happy with that.
02:53We'll see you next time.
