00:00There were also some good ones, like my most favorite tweet.
00:03Someone was like, we better see Bad Bunny twerking at the Super Bowl.
00:07And I'm like, yes, bunita, we need to see it.
00:09That one got like 139,000 likes, so the people are really wanting to see it.
00:14It's gray sweatpants season.
00:16Bad Bunny is on everyone's mind.
00:18Right, right.
00:18I think most people are excited.
00:20I think, you know, obviously Jay-Z and Roc Nation took over the Super Bowl halftime show in like 2020.
00:25So ever since then, you know, he's kind of been the orchestrator behind the guests that have been here.
00:30And I think he's been so strategic and intentional about the people he has selected.
00:36And I think, you know, we saw it with Kendrick Lamar earlier this year and all the people that Kendrick brought out.
00:41And, you know, obviously he knew what he was doing with Bad Bunny.
00:43He didn't just pick anyone.
00:44I mean, he's the most streamed male artist of all time, like currently in the world.
00:50So it's like for people to say you don't know who Bad Bunny is, okay, you're just saying you live under a rock.
00:53Like that's not a point of he's irrelevant.
00:55No, this man is very culturally relevant.
00:57And, you know, especially now in this current moment to have a Spanish speaker, you know,
01:02taking the center stage of the biggest, you know, sporting event in America is very intentional.
01:08Here, I've got a Bad Bunny's quote.
01:10He was on SNL.
01:11He addressed the controversy in Spanish, which I thought was very cool.
01:15And I'll translate it for the gringos out there.
01:17He said, our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.
01:24And I think that was beautifully said.
01:26You know, obviously we're in a current state in America where people are speaking out against ICE arrests.
01:32And it's also a moment where Bad Bunny said, I'm not going to perform in the continental United States.
01:39I'm only going to perform in Puerto Rico.
01:42And that's a statement.
01:44You know, but Kendrick Lamar's performance to what you're saying, Jason, was like one of the most watched Super Bowls of all time.
01:50Number one.
01:51The number one watched.
01:53Yeah.
01:53So if some people are saying, oh, this is not for America, it's like, well, who's America?
01:58Obviously.
01:58No, because the funny part is like, yeah, some folks are saying, oh, he's not American, which he is.
02:04Puerto Rico is in America, for those that don't know.
02:07And, but there's also been a lot of non-American acts like U2, like Paul McCartney, like Coldplay, like.
02:15The Weeknd.
02:16Shania Twain.
02:17Both Canadian kings and queens.
02:19Shakira.
02:20Shakira.
02:20Shakira, like there's been a lot of those types of like non-American artists that have come and done an amazing job on the halftime stage.
02:28So I don't get the backlash.
02:31Should we talk about our favorite, you know, or most exciting Super Bowl performances of all time or in recent memory?
02:37I must start with Beyonce.
02:40I have to start with the queen.
02:42Now, when I was going through some of the top performances, I was surprised that she ranked number nine out of ten.
02:47And I would have put her as number one, but, oh my God, like bringing out Destiny's Child, that every time she does it, that'll always just get me, get me going back to my childhood, like dancing, singing.
02:59I'm here for all of it.
03:00A hundred percent.
03:01I mean, we know Beyonce, right?
03:03The choreography, the vocal acrobatics, the like attention to detail, the precision.
03:08But then also like you just can tell that that stage means so much to these artists.
03:14Like it, it matters to her.
03:15You saw like she put a little extra oomph in her performance.
03:18She was like really like, she just gave it her all.
03:21And I love, that's what I love.
03:22I will say, I have a, I'm known in my friend group to make people come to my house and watch Super Bowl performances.
03:27That's my thing.
03:28Because I really love to watch the moment.
03:30It's moving.
03:30It's emotional.
03:31It means everything.
03:32It's a career defining moment.
03:34And so, yeah, Beyonce.
03:35But yeah, Beyonce ate that up.
03:37And I have to give my flowers to JLo and Shakira.
03:39They were not on like the top ten list or whatever, but they, they did their big one.
03:44And they had to share 15 minutes, which is ridiculous.
03:47They had to share 15 minutes.
03:48Which is ridiculous.
03:48Because they both have huge discographies.
03:50Absolutely.
03:50And that was actually a big issue that Jennifer Lopez had with it.
03:53Like a spot that's normally occupied by one person or one group.
03:57Now they felt like they needed to have two Latinos come and do the thing that normally one person can do.
04:02She was like a little offended about that.
04:03And that kind of got some backlash.
04:05And Shakira is a global superstar.
04:06Absolutely.
04:07Could have carried the stage by herself and got the views.
04:09Absolutely.
04:09Wait, wasn't Bad Bunny in that performance?
04:12Speaking of, he did.
04:13Yeah, he did.
04:14I like it.
04:14A little part from I like it with him and Cardi B, my team.
04:18And J Balvin was also there.
04:20So it was full of like guest performances.
04:22Oh my God.
04:23It was a treat.
04:24Like also because a lot of us grew up on JLo and Shakira.
04:27Like their music is like the soundtrack to a lot of our lives.
04:30So it was really exciting to see them and bring out Bad Bunny as a guest.
04:33But now he's the main guy.
04:35Girl, they were warming him up.
04:36Oh, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
04:38I like to think that the Super Bowl halftime performance is crafted for pop girls.
04:43Like I just love when a pop girl has her moment on that stage.
04:46Like you said, Beyonce, I liked Rihanna's.
04:49I liked her performance.
04:50That girl didn't need to bring out any special guests.
04:53She gave us 15 minutes of back-to-back hits, gave us an iconic pregnancy announcement.
