00:00Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny has been stirring conversation online after it was announced he'd be taking center stage during halftime at the Super Bowl.
00:09Now Charlie Kirk's Turning Point USA says they'll put on a halftime show of their own.
00:17The announcement came Thursday on social media calling it the All-American Halftime Show with more details to come.
00:25While some criticize the pic because of Bad Bunny's heritage, it's worth noting he was born in Puerto Rico and is, therefore, an American citizen.
00:34This comes on the heels of a sold-out 31-show residency in Puerto Rico that boosted the island's economy by $400 million, an SNL appearance for their season premiere, and an upcoming world tour.
00:47Other critics are taking issue because Bad Bunny has been an outspoken critic of President Trump, particularly on immigration and ICE raids.
01:00He confirmed in September that he'd be skipping the U.S. on tour, citing concerns about immigration enforcement near his shows.
01:07Some call it ironic that he'll perform at the Super Bowl, while others see it as a political statement.
01:12I'm very excited to be doing the Super Bowl, and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy, especialmente todos los latinos.
01:25Bad Bunny's reason for skipping the U.S. on tour was echoed by a DHS advisor on a recent podcast.
01:33There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally, not the Super Bowl and nowhere else.
01:39Commentator Tommy Lahren was among those to speak out, claiming Bad Bunny isn't American.
01:45Other conservative figures and politicians weren't fond of the choice either.
01:49I didn't even know who Bad Bunny was, but it sounds like a terrible decision.
01:54A lot of folks don't even know who he is.
01:55I never heard of him. I don't know who he is. I don't know why they're doing it.
01:59With more than 100 billion streams on Spotify, three Grammys, 12 Latin Grammys, and a title as Apple Music's 2022 Artist of the Year,
02:10it's safe to say Bad Bunny is one of the biggest artists not just in America, but in the world.
02:16As for Turning Point, they've launched a survey on their website asking viewers which genres they'd like to see.
02:22Options include worship, country, hip-hop, and another labeled, quote, anything in English.
