00:00Whether it's for soft tissue injuries or chronic pain management, many Canberrans use remedial
00:08massage. The demand's huge. We have a wait list, so we're sort of booked out about a month in advance.
00:16The industry saw a considerable increase around COVID. Societally, people just sort of shifted
00:21a little bit more towards kind of preventative health services. CIT's remedial massage course
00:27has run for more than 30 years, and the sector says its long-term links to the AIS have made
00:32it the best course in the country. However, it hasn't run this year. The massage courses
00:37were quite expensive for us to deliver, so we had to consider that in the whole picture
00:42of our profile of courses. The course has been the subject of reviews by CIT and the Skills
00:47Authority, but looks set to return. It is likely it will resume in 2026. We'll obviously get
00:54it back up and running as soon as we do have that approval, but we can't really tell when
00:59that will be. There'll be changes to meet student requests
01:02to make the course more flexible and have more online content, while the cost to students
01:06will rise. There'll be some pricing changes because we've had a premium product at a much
01:14greater discounted price than most of the other providers. The concern for the industry is that
01:19if the course doesn't resume until halfway through next year, it'll be 18 months since
01:23a cohort started. Remedial massage is on the ACT government's skills shortage list, and the
01:29industry says it's struggling to find staff now.
01:32So if we can't get therapists, eventually these kind of businesses will pivot totally out of
01:40it, or just close. Hopes the course will return swiftly to bring relief to businesses and clients.
01:49We'll see if there's a lot of opportunities. I don't really want to get up in the
