00:00This festive season, the Epstein Theatre is bringing back a beloved festive tradition, Christmas Panto.
00:08For the first time since the theatre reopens, the Hanover Street venue is welcoming a star-studded cast for Cinderella.
00:16This year's cast includes Coronation Street's Casey McGlynn, who stars as Cinderella.
00:21It's an honour to be playing here. I've never played in Liverpool before, apart from on screen,
00:26so I'm really excited to see what the Liverpool audience has got in offer.
00:31So, yeah, I'm very excited for that.
00:33And I'm just over the moon to be playing Cinderella the Princess, because my niece is going to love it.
00:39Casey McGlynn is best known for playing Sinead Tinker in ICV's Coronation Street,
00:44winning a National Television Award for Best Serial Drama Performance in 2020.
00:49I've just been born and bred in Pantos. I love Pantos. I love the humour.
00:54I love the festive spirit. And everybody will be coming to watch a panto for a laugh.
01:01And that's what I think we need right now.
01:03The One Show and Radio Mayside's Kevin Dwala takes on the mysterious role of buttons.
01:09It means Christmas to me, Pantomime.
01:11Obviously, you know, when the kids were growing up, you know, we took them to Panto.
01:14So, it's just nice. What's really, really nice as an adult, even on stage,
01:21is I actually get to be a kid again. And that's what I'm really, really looking forward to doing.
01:25Liverpool's very only Anne Campbell will be spreading magic as the fairy godmother.
01:29We're all one big family. Once those lights go down, we're all in it together.
01:34From the beginning, from the sad parts, to the highs, the dance numbers, the special effects,
01:39right until the finale, we're all in it together. And that's what's magical about Panto.
01:44Get ready for dazzling costumes, magical moments and plenty of belly laughs
01:47as the stage comes alive with that unmistakable Panto sparkle.
01:51The best role in a Panto is the baddie. Absolutely.
01:56If you turn up at work and you've got a 10 o'clock show and there's a room full of school kids
01:59and you're like, it's Sunday night in the morning, take it out on them.
02:02Yeah, exactly. I love a baddie and you get too full on with the ugly sisters.
02:06Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:06I feel very lucky to be British because we have pantomimes.
02:10When I meet anybody that doesn't know what pantomime is, I'm like, oh, love, come on.
02:14Like, you're missing out on life because I just think Panto's brilliant. I really do.
02:19Cinderella will run at the Hanover Street venue right throughout the festive season
02:23up until Sunday, the 4th of January.
02:27I love pantos. I go and see as many as I can over the Christmas season.
02:31This year is the first year I won't be able to get to see many because I'm in one.
02:37But I first saw, I think probably one of my first pantos ever was in here
02:42and I saw Paul O'Grady as Lily Savage, as Queen Rat and Dick Whittington.
02:47and I was sat over there somewhere and I'll never forget it.
02:52And now some kid is going to watch you and not forget that.
02:54Isn't that mad?
02:55Isn't that mad?
02:55I can't say anything, but isn't that mad?
02:57Forget you, but not mad.
02:58Oh!
02:58Well, you're about to be a woman.
