00:00Sarah Ferguson braces for humiliation with title on the line.
00:04Judgment Day nears for Sarah Ferguson after a sympathetic old email to Jeffrey Epstein surfaced.
00:10The Duchess of York now faces losing her official title when the City of York Council meets in November.
00:16Leader of the Council
00:17Claire Douglas said the group will meet in the coming months to decide on Sarah Ferguson
00:22after previously stripping Prince Andrew of his official title over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
00:28A full council meeting of all City of York councillors next takes place in November, she said.
00:34Consideration will be given in advance of that meeting to whether a motion to remove the honorary
00:38freedom title from the Duchess of York is tabled. The honorary freedom title conferred on the Duke
00:43of York was removed in 2022. We deplore the links and continued associations with Jeffrey Epstein
00:50by those carrying the York title beyond the time the gravity of his crimes became clear.
00:54In 2011, Sarah Ferguson sent Jeffrey Epstein an email apologizing to him for slamming him in
01:00the press over his crimes. I know you feel hellaciously let down by me, and I must humbly
01:06apologize to you and your heart for that, the mother of two wrote. You have always been a
01:11steadfast, generous, and supreme friend to me and my family. I'm apologizing to you today for not
01:16replying to your email or reaching out to you. I was bedridden with fear. I was paralyzed.
01:22When the correspondence between Sarah Ferguson and Jeffrey Epstein leaked,
01:25the Duchess of York's representative issued a statement defending her. The Duchess spoke of
01:31her regret about her association with Jeffrey Epstein many years ago, and as they have always
01:36been, her first thoughts are with his victims, the rep said. Like many people, she was taken in by his
01:42lies. As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off
01:47contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for
01:53associating him with abusing children. She does not resile from anything she said then.
01:58This email was sent as part of advice the Duchess received to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.
02:04While Sarah Ferguson's status with the firm remains uncertain, King Charles III and Prince William have
02:09reportedly taken action against Prince Andrew over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The King finally bowed to
02:16his son's demands over his disastrous attempts to rehabilitate his corrupt brother Prince Andrew,
02:20and agreed to ban Prince Andrew from all further public-facing family events,
02:25royal journalist Tom Sykes claimed.
