00:00Dr. Warren's Gen Z, silent signs of bowel cancer may go unnoticed as cases rise.
00:06Bowel cancer cases among under 50s, including Gen Z, have surged 50% in 30 years.
00:13Dr. Jack Ogden warns of five often overlooked silent symptoms.
00:20Bowel cancer, once common in those over 50, is increasingly affecting younger people due to poor diet,
00:27inactivity, toxins, and gut microbiome changes, proving no age group is safe.
00:35Dr. Ogden warns that subtle signs, often mistaken for stress, poor diet, or IBS,
00:42can appear before classic symptoms like diarrhea or blood delaying diagnosis.
00:49A tumor can cause slow, chronic bleeding into the bowel that isn't visible in stool but leads to continuous iron loss.
00:57Crucially, look out for changes in the stool's consistency or shape,
01:04such as stools that are noticeably narrower or pencil-thin.
01:10Losing weight without intentionally trying to through diet or exercise is a concerning symptom.
01:19Persistent abdominal discomfort that doesn't go away can be an early indicator.
01:23These tests include a fecal immunochemical test, FIT, which can detect hidden blood in the stool even when none is visible.
01:38Major risks include high-fat, low-fiber diets, processed meats, obesity, inactivity, smoking, and heavy drinking,
01:44along with genetic factors like family history and Lynch syndrome.
01:52If detected early, 9 out of 10 people survive at least 5 years.
01:56However, if the cancer spreads, survival rates drop to just 10%.
01:59Know your normal, if symptoms persist for 3 weeks or more, see a doctor.
02:08Don't let age or embarrassment delay a potentially life-saving check.
