00:00If you knew you were going to be inverted upside down in a harness, why would you drink a whole cup of coffee?
00:06Welcome to Miss Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most physically demanding and even painful photo shoots in top model history.
00:14We're focusing mostly on photo shoots, otherwise those dangerous 10-inch heels would definitely be high on this list.
00:20She looked petrified, scared, just like a drowning chicken.
00:26Number 10. Graveyard Shoot
00:28In one of the most unfortunate cases of bad timing in the show's history,
00:33Kaylin Rondeau found out a friend from home passed away just before the next photo shoot.
00:38I checked my messages and found out that one of the girls I was very good friends with when I was a little bit younger had passed away.
00:46The dread as the models pull up to a cemetery is palpable.
00:50It turns out they are to embody the seven deadly sins while lying in an open grave.
00:55Being six feet under and in a confined space is difficult enough.
00:59Rondeau's fresh grief makes it an especially difficult experience.
01:04And in the world of modeling, anything can happen at any time.
01:07We've got lust, sloth, gluttony, envy, wrath, grief, and pride.
01:13These are the seven deadly sins.
01:14And with seven of you here today, each and every one of you are going to have to portray one of these deadly sins.
01:22Producers of the show have explained that it was not intentional and that the shoot had been scheduled long before Rondeau's personal tragedy.
01:29Do you know what's wrong with Kaylin?
01:31She had a friend that died from high school.
01:34Oh my gosh.
01:36Regardless, it's one of the most cringeworthy and complicated challenges for this totally unique reason.
01:43So, I kind of just tried to not think about it.
01:47I had to be wrath.
01:50Wrath is like anger.
01:51But I'm trying not to feel anything right now.
01:54Tell you the truth.
01:55Number 9.
01:56The Spider Shoot
01:57We do have someone else for you to pose with today in your shot.
02:01So can we have our other person?
02:02Eva Pigford's stunning portrait with a tarantula is one of the show's most iconic images.
02:12But anyone who saw Cycle 3 knows just how hard won that picture was.
02:17This is not what they had in mind when J. Manuel told them they'd have another model to pose with.
02:22Ready?
02:23I'm going to stop.
02:23Stay with me the whole time, okay?
02:25No worries about it, okay?
02:26Gorgeous.
02:28Can't miss.
02:28Gorgeous.
02:29Can you move the spider, please?
02:31This is what it takes to be a pro, hon.
02:33Fantastic.
02:35Pigford had the biggest reaction to the Viraggio Diamond photoshoot prompt.
02:39But she isn't the only one struggling.
02:42The tarantula has a mind of its own, and the models are just expected to let it go wherever it wants.
02:47It even ends up on Amanda Swafford's forehead at one point.
02:51Oh, I love that shot.
02:55Spiders, spiders, get it off.
02:57Can I open my eye without the spider claw going in my cornea?
03:00Amanda, if you hold still, the spider won't put its finger in your eyes.
03:04You have to open them up.
03:06Number 8.
03:07Ice Sculpture Shoot.
03:09We just walk into this big warehouse building, and we're not really sure what's going on.
03:13The aspiring models of Cycle 6 have to feel their frozen fantasy when they arrive at a refrigerated warehouse.
03:27There's a reason the place is so chilly.
03:29They have to pose on several ice sculptures.
03:32I just feel that whoosh of cold air.
03:35But I'm thinking, let me just think about the desert and how hot it is.
03:39And in true top model fashion, they're not wearing much in the way of clothes to avoid contact with the ice itself.
03:46Noses ran and bodies trembled.
03:48As usual, J-Manuel has the nerve to dress them down when they show any visible signs of discomfort standing around half-dressed in the freezing cold.
03:57He says all this while looking awfully snug in his winter coat.
04:01Just every once in a while, they get a little hoe on me.
04:03So keep it clean.
04:07Number 7.
04:08Landfill Photo Shoot.
04:10It's a big old place where everyone dumps all their trash.
04:14It's nasty.
04:14I've never seen anything like it.
04:16Cycle 16 turns up the ick factor on its ensemble of industry hopefuls.
04:21Tyra Banks sends them on a very special field trip for their next photo shoot.
04:25They board a bus and head over to the Olinda Landfill for an eco-friendly couture fashion shoot.
04:31Yes, Banks sends them to a garbage dump.
04:34I specifically designed couture dresses for you girls using recycled materials like broken mirror and make them look like expensive gemstones.
04:44I feel great about the eco-friendly shoot and, you know, maybe people will think twice before throwing out so much garbage.
04:51With its huge mounds of trash encircled by seagulls, it's certainly a striking backdrop.
04:56To their credit, the models are largely good sports about this, but it's easy to imagine just how hard this one would be to take.
05:04Sitting at home, we can only imagine how this place smells.
05:08Cycle 9 tapped into the cast's athleticism for the third photo shoot.
05:25Suspended from ropes, the models are made to climb the rock wall in heels and pose while hanging off the structure.
05:31I didn't let Mr. J know that I was afraid of heights because I didn't want to come off, like, you know, trembling.
05:36I really went in just like, I've got this, I'm going to do this.
05:39It makes for a playful and elegant anti-gravity effect.
05:43Fear of heights, cumbersome gowns, and just general muscle fatigue are all in play here.
05:48As difficult as it looks, most of the contestants actually nailed it.
05:52The body language is disgustingly fabulous.
05:56Give me a little more in the face.
05:59Still, this is one of those photo shoots that makes us wonder why they couldn't just simulate a rock wall and let the models act out climbing.
06:06But that's fashion, we suppose.
06:08You're still trying to play safe, I feel it.
06:11Let go of the safety net.
06:12You know, some girls can be fierce and some girls can be a little mysterious, but I'm just normal and I want to be a good role model to the girls that do have a normal life.
06:21That's not stepping out of the box.
06:23Just go for it.
06:23Just go there.
06:24Number five, Zodiac Signs Photoshoot.
06:28An astrology-themed photo shoot sees the models of Cycle 4 embodying each of the signs of the Zodiac.
06:34Apparently, this requires them to be rigged up in a harness and lifted off the ground.
06:39Don't forget your face.
06:40Today, Kenya definitely gave us a range of expression.
06:44Hey, Brittany, what are you thinking right now?
06:46No sex, kitten face is what I'm trying to do.
06:48Adding to the balance issues this causes, some models have it way worse than others.
06:54The bulky, cartoonish costuming is almost impossible to work with for some.
06:58While her competitors have bows and goat horns affixed to their heads, Tiffany Richardson gets saddled with two of the biggest crab claws we've ever seen.
07:07Just be graceful about it.
07:09Beautiful, honey.
07:11That's gorgeous right there.
07:13Tiffany has grown in leaps and bounds from her first photo shoot.
07:16She commanded that set.
07:17But as always, it's the models' fault they're not comfortable being suspended by a harness with cumbersome props in their hands.
07:24I'm a tangled fish.
07:26Come on.
07:27Yubi struggled a lot in the harness today.
07:29A little insecure about her whole overall pose.
07:32You can try different things, but as long as you keep that kind of fishy motion with the hands together.
07:37She had a really hard time really grasping the shape that we wanted.
07:42Thank you, guys.
07:42Number four, fish market photo shoot.
07:46Remaining contestants in Cycle 6 are flown to Phuket, Thailand, where they're asked to pose as mermaids caught in fishing nets.
07:53I know it's tough being around so many girls, so get some tail.
07:57It's actually a charming concept.
08:00Unfortunately, the setup Jay Manuel has in mind requires the models to be suspended in a fishing net over a very real Thai fishing market.
08:09My uterus is probably flat as a pancake right now.
08:12Is it okay like that?
08:14Can you rest there or do you want to put them in the back?
08:16I want to get them done.
08:17Okay, you got 15 more.
08:19A couple times, you know, I was like, oh my God, this hurts all day.
08:22I want to quit.
08:23They must defy gravity in a deeply uncomfortable harness decorated with real dead fish.
08:29Did we mention they're also being dangled upside down for minutes at a time?
08:33For some reason, I keep on landing in the bottom too, which I don't understand why.
08:36But I keep coming back, and I'm coming back with a vengeance.
08:39I'm coming back strong.
08:40The resulting shots are definitely stunning, but it does leave us wondering if the fish juice was worth the squeeze.
08:46Mr. Jet!
08:49What are we doing?
08:49The water is stinky, the fish is nasty, and I'm just trying to get my shoe done so I can get back into the trailer, which is air conditioned.
08:58Number three, posing underwater.
09:04You need to see that face more, right?
09:06You need to twist around so you look into the camera a little more, right?
09:08Go for it.
09:10Posing and maintaining grace under pressure in a water tank was hard enough for the cast of Cycle 2.
09:15Cycle 13 took things a step further.
09:18After being whisked away to Hawaii, the cast of aspiring models are taken to the actual open waters of the Pacific Ocean for undersea glamour shots.
09:28If I go too deep, I won't be able to breathe pretty much at all, even with the regulator.
09:31There are people with asthma who dive, so you should be able to use it.
09:35I think what's happening right now is you're psyching yourself out a little, and I would hate to see you go home.
09:40This cast has a lot of reasons to be worried.
09:43They have to get deep enough for the shots to work.
09:46This requires them to complete their poses between puffs of oxygen.
09:50Every time I go down, I'm swallowing water through my mouth and nose, and it's just burning.
09:54Laura Kirkpatrick panics almost immediately, but Sunday Love struggles the most.
10:01Between her asthma and an ear injury, she is an ambassador for letting her medical issues get in the way of her work.
10:07Work with your body.
10:08Your whole body tells the story.
10:10I'll just keep going.
10:11Yeah, I got water in my nose.
10:12Sunday came out with every excuse in the book.
10:14My ear is hurt.
10:16The water is out going up my nose.
10:17I have asthma.
10:18Number two, posing in freezing water.
10:21I hate cold water.
10:23In Cycle 7, the final four modeling hopefuls were asked to pose in a freezing cold pool.
10:30This is just one of those challenges where we have to wonder, is this what modeling is like,
10:34or is this just what the producers came up with to create some extra drama?
10:38We had to float and act like little angels in the water.
10:41I couldn't move.
10:42I couldn't float.
10:43It was cold.
10:44I was shivering.
10:45And hopefully I didn't look like I was a dead fish up in that cold water.
10:48Creepy crawlies and awkward poses are one thing, but hypothermia is another.
10:54This was unbelievably cold, but, you know, I had to do what I had to do.
10:57And remember, cold is there, but not here.
11:01Okay?
11:01Not here, no other face.
11:03Carrie D. English had to exit the pool because she developed hypothermia.
11:07J. Manuel and Tyra Banks saw her struggling, telling her to push through.
11:11The next minute, she's hypothermic, and it's her fault for not understanding her limits.
11:17As a model, you need to tell people when you're past your limit.
11:22It wasn't just that she was cold.
11:24It wasn't just that her teeth were chattering.
11:26She had reached the moment of hypothermia.
11:29How are the pictures, baby?
11:30They look good.
11:31Am I better?
11:31Am I getting good again?
11:33You have to listen to your body and you have to tell us, okay?
11:35Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.

11:51Number 1.
11:52Wind Tunnel
11:53It's almost as if Tyra Banks and her producers held a personal grudge against the contestants of Cycle 7.
12:00This crop of models had some of the hardest, most punishing photoshoots in the show's history.
12:06The wind is blowing upward and your whole face is flopping.
12:12I really had to focus on keeping my body really relaxed, including my face.
12:18Jada in general is not the most graceful girl on set, but today, this shoot might just save Jada.
12:23Here, they were made to pose in a wind tunnel skydiving column and serve face and graceful poses at the same time.
12:31The shoot proved to be near impossible for even the Cycle's frontrunners.
12:36For a minute, this one even had Tyra wondering if they had asked them to do the impossible.
12:41I was a little nervous at first with all of the girls, but so far I have not liked all the pictures that have come up.
12:46So I was thinking that this photoshoot might have been too hard and impossible.
12:50And I'm like beating myself up in the head going, why did I have them do this?
12:53But then I see this and I go, I had you guys do it because a great shot is possible.
12:57Of course, just as she's about to express some regret, one model's picture convinces her it was all worth it.
13:04I'm not happy.
13:05It was almost like I wanted to jump back in there and do it again.
13:07Melrose wasn't the best.
13:09Oh, thank God.
13:10Okay, finally.
13:11Which of these photoshoots looked the hardest?
13:14Tell us in the comments.
13:16We'll see you next time.
