00:00Derek, we've also got the EU potentially placing some pressure on China as well,
00:05apparently considering forcing China to hand technology over to companies that want to operate in the European Union.
00:12What are the details on this and have we had a reaction from China?
00:16Yeah, it's a really interesting thing, Paul, and we'll sort of see where this one goes.
00:20But this is a move that sort of holds a mirror, if you will, to a Chinese policy.
00:29You could almost say that the European Union got the idea from China in some ways.
00:35But it's another step that we're seeing from some economies trying to figure out how to counterbalance Beijing
00:41and some of the industrial capabilities that Beijing is capable of.
00:47Europe has seen itself as a really lucrative market and a really powerful place if they all push together.
00:55You see this in a lot of ways across Asia with companies having to feel like they have to meet European regulatory standards,
01:03whether or not they have huge operations there just because that's sort of the price of doing business.
01:08This would be another indication if they were actually going to go through this.
01:13But we've seen a lot of moves from Europe where some of these things are proposed,
01:16but it doesn't necessarily come out as stiffly as they initially suggested it might.
