00:00Three, two, one.
00:03JPMorgan Chase's new midtown Manhattan megatower is officially open to the public.
00:08Standing at 60 stories tall, 270 Park Avenue caps one of the most expensive construction projects in New York history.
00:16It's believed to have cost close to $5 billion and required the demolition of its old building,
00:22which was the tallest ever to be voluntarily knocked down in the U.S.
00:26The new all-electric building boasts of amenities, including a 13th floor pub called Morgan's
00:32and a fitness center that, as Bloomberg previously reported,
00:35was an uphill battle between executives and chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon.
00:40Now, the new building can be seen as a manifestation of JPMorgan's dominance over global finance
00:45and of Dimon's reign at the company.
00:47In fact, a major consideration when building was Dimon's return to office mandate.
00:52270 Park will fit about 10,000 workers, but it still won't be enough for its Manhattan workforce of 24,000.
01:00The next renovation project on the docket is for 383 Madison, which is just across the street from 270 Park.
01:06It will close at the start of the new year so they can cover the facade in glass and redo the interior
01:11and is slated to reopen at the end of 2027.
