00:00A high-stakes meeting between President Trump and President Putin is set to unfold in Anchorage, Alaska.
00:06It's Trump's first face-to-face with Putin since his return to the White House.
00:10It's been 10 years since Putin set foot on U.S. soil and marks the first leader-to-leader summit
00:16since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
00:19Friday's meeting is a gamble for Trump, though, as he tries to broker a peace agreement.
00:23Initially, the president said there may be, quote, some changes in territory
00:27after Russia's invasion and occupation, but earlier this week, he sought to downplay expectations.
00:33This is really a feel-out meeting, a little bit, and President Putin invited me to get involved.
00:41He wants to get involved. I think, I believe he wants to get it over with.
00:44Now, I've said that a few times, and I've been disappointed.
00:48There's a very good chance that we're going to have a second meeting, which will be more productive than the first,
00:53because the first is I'm going to find out where we are and what we're doing.
00:57Putin is demanding Ukraine give up the Donetsk and Luhansk regions
01:01as a condition to push for a ceasefire and enter negotiations.
01:05But there's a crucial figure missing in Anchorage, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,
01:10who's ruled out Putin's territorial bid.
01:13Ann Marie Hordern, Bloomberg News.
