The Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Act 1966 is being reviewed to grant stricter enforcement powers, including travel bans on blacklisted developers and company directors.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu told the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Oct 27) that the move aims to tackle abandoned housing projects more effectively and safeguard homebuyers’ interests.

She also said that between December 2022 and September this year, about 60 abandoned housing projects were successfully revived through joint efforts involving the ministry and industry stakeholders.
