00:00The Texas National Guard has arrived in Illinois despite strong opposition from state and city
00:08leaders who called the deployment illegal and dangerous. Aerial video shows troops at the U.S.
00:14Army Reserve Center in Elwood. That's about 50 miles southwest of Chicago. They're part of a
00:19federal immigration enforcement mission ordered by President Trump and joined by Texas Governor
00:24Greg Abbott, who called them his state's elite National Guard. Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago
00:30Mayor Brandon Johnson have filed a lawsuit to block the deployment, calling it unconstitutional
00:35and a violation of state sovereignty. Their case is scheduled to be held tomorrow. Pritzker says
00:41he's had no contact from the administration or the Guard about their arrival, calling the move
00:46chaotic and dangerous. President Trump defended the move, saying he's using his lawful authority
00:51to protect federal officers and assets. So far, there's no timeline for how long the troops
00:57will remain in Illinois, but defense contractors say they're preparing housing and dining facilities
01:02for at least 250 soldiers.
