A wreath maker is short-handed after a small accident that leaves her with a broken arm. She is busy and independent and eager to do everything on her own, so realizing she needs help is a big challenge. Asking for help though is an even bigger obstacle! When she admits she needs help during the busy holiday season, her options are not great: lackluster or distracted potential employees, or someone who can only work 2 hours a day, or a neighbor she has tried hard to ignore for years thanks to getting off on the wrong foot when he moved in. She reluctantly chooses the neighbor, but in doing so, she realizes she has misunderstood him, and he sees that helping her might be the best way to spend the holiday season.

00:02:10that's uh just my family we'll wrap it up before long could you please remind them not to block my
00:02:16driveway ah yeah I I'm sorry about that it's my cousin he uh took the driving test three times
00:02:23because of the whole parking thing he tries hard okay good night night good to see you
00:02:34okay okay I think we should cut off pie pre-orders this year on December 15th I'm all for it it'll
00:02:45mean fewer sales are we doing that raspberry pecan one again I like that one sorry you were the only
00:02:51one check again hey Tom can I borrow your keys what's up it's gonna move your truck a little okay
00:02:59did your neighbor say something again yes but to be fair Tom doesn't see how he parks well she's alone
00:03:08right so that's hard and maybe that's why she's so particular about her neighbors I'm pretty sure I'm
00:03:15the only one who bothers her we should invite her over I don't think that's the solution all right
00:03:20back to the schedule what do you think about the pie pre-orders at the bakery should we stop them
00:03:26around the 15th I mean the longer we go the more we sell although that does mean we'll work more
00:03:32overtime we pay overtime nope perks to the family business you do get leftovers though
00:03:40lucky me okay let's do December 18th but maybe we take off the peppermint cream pies this year they
00:03:48take longer but only because you won't use my shortcut method it doesn't taste the same we stick to the
00:03:54family recipes a beautiful day on 97.3 FM but bundle up temperatures overnight got well into freezing
00:04:06territory and it's a chilly 28 degrees this morning so be careful out there up next we have your

00:05:51understand just give you some time off maybe adjust a few things I'm the boss
00:05:56even better no I own my own business you probably wouldn't understand why not because when you own your own business you don't get days off you work harder than anyone else success or failure it is all on you
00:06:13I own a bakery really well it's family business but yeah I'm one of the owners so I I get it
00:06:23oh
00:06:25hey don't worry you've had a rough morning and maybe if you just go home get some rest do what the doctor said

00:16:09Get well soon, though.
00:16:11You too.
00:16:23Pastor Kevin?
00:16:24I have this week's wreath.
00:16:27Rebecca.
00:16:29Good to see what happened.
00:16:32An icy step and bad balance.
00:16:34Oh, I'm so sorry.
00:16:35Here, let me take that.
00:16:40Will it be all right?
00:16:42Eventually.
00:16:43Are you still going to participate in the church's Christmas market?
00:16:46Yes.
00:16:47Oh, good.
00:16:48How many families are you hoping to help with the church's portion?
00:16:51As many as we can.
00:16:52Well, there's a lot of work to do then.
00:16:55I'm trying to hire someone to help at the store.
00:16:57No luck yet, but I do have one more interview today.
00:17:01I'm hoping it works out.
00:17:03Well, I could probably stop by the shop a few times and help make some wreaths.
00:17:07Thank you, but I know you are in the thick of everything, planning the market.
00:17:13Well, I'm sorry you're going through this then.
00:17:16But it'll work out.
00:17:18God is watching over you.
00:17:29Hi, are you Peter?
00:17:31Yeah, sorry I'm late for my interview.
00:17:33No, it's no problem.
00:17:34The thing is, I got another job.
00:17:37Oh.
00:17:38Sorry, it came up a little unexpectedly, but I just thought I should let you know.
00:17:42Well, thank you.
00:17:43That's very thoughtful of you.
00:17:45Good luck.
00:17:50Great.
00:17:50Oh, hi.
00:18:03Hey.
00:18:04I am in the right place.
00:18:06I figured when I saw the sign, this is probably your shop.
00:18:10Now I know.
00:18:11Yeah.
00:18:13What can I help you with?
00:18:15Oh, nothing.
00:18:15I just wanted to see how you are with your arm and all.
00:18:19Oh, it's fine.
00:18:21Everything's fine.
00:18:23Really?
00:18:25Not really.
00:18:27There's just so much work to do, and it just keeps getting worse because I can't.
00:18:33You could hire someone.
00:18:35That's proving to be a lot trickier than I thought it would be.
00:18:38Either everyone's already busy or they're not a fit.
00:18:42What is it you need someone to do?
00:18:43You make the wreaths.
00:18:46I can help and point out where everything goes.
00:18:49I think someone would be able to follow my instructions well enough.
00:18:54I don't know.
00:18:55Maybe this all was just a bad idea.
00:18:59I'll do it.
00:19:00What?
00:19:01I'll help.
00:19:03Is it very hard?
00:19:04Well, it's not exactly easy, but...
00:19:08You're going to have to teach someone to do it, right?
00:19:10Yeah, I guess so.
00:19:11Don't you have a job?
00:19:15Your bakery?
00:19:16We start early and close at 2 p.m.
00:19:19That's the beauty of a bakery.
00:19:21So I can be available most afternoons and evenings.
00:19:26Do you need someone in the mornings, though?
00:19:29Ideally, but I could handle calls and take customers picking up orders and anything else with one arm here.
00:19:37As long as you don't overdo it, right?
00:19:41I think we can get through that pile pretty quickly.
00:19:44Oh, it's not just this.
00:19:47There's a lot to make for the Christmas market.
00:19:49And I really want to participate this year.
00:19:52Part of the proceeds of the market...
00:19:54Go to the church for families in need.
00:19:56I know.
00:19:56We have a spot there for the bakery, too.
00:19:59So you understand.
00:20:01Oh, but that means you'll be plenty busy, too, then.
00:20:04Not really.
00:20:05We can only make so many baked goods ahead of time.
00:20:09I'm serious when I say I can help you here.
00:20:12If you want.
00:20:14But why?
00:20:15Sorry?
00:20:17Why would you help me?
00:20:19Because it's Christmas.
00:20:23What better time to help my neighbor, right?
00:20:28Okay.
00:20:32I'm so glad you found someone for the shop.
00:20:35What's his name?
00:20:36Jason.
00:20:37He lives next door.
00:20:38Oh, so you know him?
00:20:40Barely, but I didn't have many other choices.
00:20:42Well, all he has to be able to do is whatever you can't right now.
00:20:46Yeah, I just wish I was able to find someone else.
00:20:50Hopefully it'll all work out and not be strange.
00:20:55I'm still going to check on our flights, see if we can get out there any earlier and help.
00:20:59No, it'll be fine.
00:21:01Don't worry.
00:21:03Give me a hand here, Jason, would you?
00:21:04These won't bake themselves.
00:21:06Yeah.
00:21:07What are you working on over there?
00:21:09Schedules.
00:21:10I thought we had it all set for the month.
00:21:12I'm just looking at shuffling a few shifts and some extra stuff.
00:21:16Someone need more time off?
00:21:17Yeah, me.
00:21:19What's going on?
00:21:20My neighbor needs some help over at your shop.
00:21:23Oh, the one who had an accident?
00:21:24Poor dear.
00:21:25When does she need help?
00:21:27This month.
00:21:28You're going to help her all month?
00:21:30Why not?
00:21:31Well, that's awfully generous of you.
00:21:33And knowable, but you're going to overwork yourself.
00:21:35I'll be fine.
00:21:37But Christmas is our busy time.
00:21:38And we handle it every year.
00:21:41I'll be here.
00:21:42I'm just looking at some shifts that Tom or Gabby might want to pick up.
00:21:46That's all.
00:21:46It's your decision, but...
00:21:48But we're glad you're helping someone who really needs it.
00:21:54This one here is your order.
00:21:56Do you need help?
00:22:01Uh, nope.
00:22:02I can do it.
00:22:07Oh.
00:22:09I get that for you.
00:22:11Oh.
00:22:15Thanks.
00:22:18Here you go.
00:22:21You're welcome.
00:22:22Merry Christmas.
00:22:23Merry Christmas.
00:22:23Merry Christmas.
00:22:26I could have gotten that.
00:22:28Maybe we should create a space for the finished orders.
00:22:31That way you don't risk hurting your arm.
00:22:34Maybe.
00:22:35You ready?
00:22:36Sure.
00:22:37I got a delivery with all the supplies that I use to make wreaths.
00:22:41It's in the back.
00:22:42Do you want to grab it and we'll get started?
00:22:45Yep.
00:22:45On it.
00:22:47These are the frames we start with.
00:22:49Okay.
00:22:49So you take a few branches and you put them in the frame.
00:22:54These are real.
00:22:56Fresh.
00:22:56Yes.
00:22:58Okay.
00:23:00Put them into the frame.
00:23:05Uh, here.
00:23:05So try...
00:23:07It's hard doing that with one hand.
00:23:10Just like that.
00:23:14That's just the first one.
00:23:15It looks a lot prettier when it's all done.
00:23:17I'll take your work for it.
00:23:19Okay.
00:23:20Next one.
00:23:20Okay.
00:23:27Just make sure it doesn't move.
00:23:30So tighter.
00:23:31Like that?
00:23:37No.
00:23:39Not really.
00:23:44All right.
00:23:45Use this first.
00:23:46Uh, not there.
00:23:51Okay, where?
00:23:52Here.
00:23:57Okay.
00:23:58Now this.
00:24:02No.
00:24:03Other side.
00:24:05Here.
00:24:06And then this one.
00:24:18Do you want to tell me where you want this?
00:24:21Here.
00:24:28Good enough.
00:24:28I can work on this later.
00:24:31Do you want to call it a day?
00:24:33Are you sure we didn't get much done?
00:24:35I know.
00:24:37But it'll get easier.
00:24:38And faster.
00:24:39As you...
00:24:41We get used to it.
00:24:43So, um...
00:24:47Yeah.
00:24:48Well, I'll, uh...
00:24:49See you tomorrow.
00:24:51Good night.
00:24:59She's really picky about how to do things.
00:25:02And okay, I'm not perfect at this,
00:25:04but I can't even get there without her hovering.
00:25:06I mean, she barely let me take out the trash yesterday.
00:25:09And half the things she needs help with,
00:25:11she won't even let me do.
00:25:12Well, I can't say that I'm surprised.
00:25:14Me neither.
00:25:15Why?
00:25:16Well, because of the injury she's sustained,
00:25:18she probably feels like there's a lot that's out of her control.
00:25:21So, of course, she's going to hang on to whatever she can.
00:25:25That's not what I was going to say.
00:25:26She's just not helping the situation, though.
00:25:29You should just tell her to step aside.
00:25:30Let you do your own thing.
00:25:31It's her shop.
00:25:32I'm pretty sure she'd just toss me out if I did that.
00:25:35You know, a little finesse could go a long way, Tom.
00:25:38You keep telling me that.
00:25:40Be patient.
00:25:40It's just a start.
00:25:41And if it's too much trouble, leave her.
00:25:44Let her figure it out on her own.
00:25:46What Tom means is keep working at it if you really want to help her.
00:25:50And, you know, eventually she'll see the difference you're making.
00:25:54Not sure that's what I said.
00:25:56The peppermint cream holds better in mine.
00:26:01Well, it's stiff.
00:26:03My pie's fluffy.
00:26:04I don't like the taste.
00:26:06It's just as good as yours.
00:26:07That's opinion.
00:26:09Well, at least we agree on that.
00:26:10Miranda, we've been using my recipe for years.
00:26:13Customers notice when we change something.
00:26:15Jason, try these, will you?
00:26:17Yeah.
00:26:19Okay.
00:26:31Mm-hmm.
00:26:32Yeah, they both taste great.
00:26:34Which is better?
00:26:35There isn't a better.
00:26:37Well, they're different recipes, so there must be one better than the other.
00:26:40They're slightly different in texture, sweetness, flavor, but I don't feel that one is better than the other.
00:26:47Honestly, I think they're both great.
00:26:50Thank you, dear.
00:26:51You are so diplomatic, it's annoying.
00:26:53I'm telling the truth.
00:26:55What does it matter, anyway?
00:26:56I thought we decided we weren't doing peppermint cream pie for Christmas.
00:26:59Excellent point.
00:27:01This is a useless debate.
00:27:02A lot of customers have asked to preorder it for Christmas.
00:27:05I really think we should make it available.
00:27:07Well, whatever you two decide.
00:27:11Hey, can I take a slice of each of these for later?
00:27:14Of course.
00:27:22Hi.
00:27:23Hi.
00:27:25Uh, hungry?
00:27:26I brought some pie from the bakery.
00:27:28Uh, maybe later.
00:27:29There's a lot of work to do.
00:27:31You can put it in the fridge and back.
00:27:33Okay, yeah.
00:27:37Here, let me do that.
00:27:54Oh, I got it.
00:27:55It's definitely easier to do with two hands.
00:27:57Come on.
00:27:59Thanks.
00:27:59Thanks.
00:27:59Thanks.
00:28:07Be sure to get behind you.
00:28:21And get under the table next.
00:28:28I get everything out from under the hard-to-reach places first before I put it into piles.
00:28:32You know what?
00:28:34Let's have that pie now.
00:28:43Leave the broom alone!
00:28:49I'm not much of a pie person.
00:28:51Oh, you'll change your mind after you have these.
00:28:54Did you bake them?
00:28:55No, my mom made this one.
00:28:58And, uh, this slice came from a pie that my sister Miranda made.
00:29:02Oh.
00:29:03Try them both.
00:29:12That's good.
00:29:13Mm-hmm.
00:29:14Try the other one.
00:29:22Mm.
00:29:22Mm-hmm.
00:29:24Mm-hmm.
00:29:24Mm-hmm.
00:29:25Okay.
00:29:26So my mom and sister have this ongoing debate.
00:29:29Which peppermint cream pie is better?
00:29:31Now, my mom's recipe we've used for years.
00:29:34But Miranda's recipe is a bit quicker to make.
00:29:37They both taste good.
00:29:39Exactly.
00:29:39That's what I told them.
00:29:41There's differences, but none that detract from the taste or look, right?
00:29:46Right.
00:29:47So, what's the problem?
00:29:49Well, my mom won't give my sister's recipe a chance.
00:29:53Because it's different?
00:29:55Because it's not her way.
00:29:58Oh, well, that's silly.
00:29:59Just because it's not her way doesn't make it wrong.
00:30:04Really?
00:30:04Is that what you're doing with this?
00:30:08I thought you were just being nice with the pie.
00:30:10I am.
00:30:11All right, fine.
00:30:14You finish sweeping, and I'll finish the pie.
00:30:18Fair enough.
00:30:26He's right.
00:30:28Don't say that.
00:30:29I'm sorry, but you need to let him help, even if it means he's doing things a little bit differently than you're used to.
00:30:36But we're moving so slowly.
00:30:38And they're not turning out the same as when I make them.
00:30:41Do the race look bad?
00:30:43Well, no.
00:30:45Okay, just a thought here.
00:30:47But do you think that it's possible that you are keeping too tight a grip on things?
00:30:52You would, too.
00:30:52It's quality control.
00:30:54Is it?
00:30:55Or is it possible that we're getting into the micromanaging territory?
00:30:58I don't do that.
00:31:02Okay, I can't help it.
00:31:04I've worked by myself for so long.
00:31:06It's an adjustment.
00:31:08I get it.
00:31:08But look, you are letting me help you fold your clothes.
00:31:12Well, folding socks with one hand is very difficult.
00:31:16My point is, you can let someone else help.
00:31:20And he's trying his best.
00:31:21So don't overlook that for a ribbon on a wreath that isn't tied to your liking.
00:31:28Come in.
00:31:38Hey.
00:31:41Hey.
00:31:42Hi.
00:31:43Sorry to bother you and your, uh, cooking.
00:31:49I was just, uh, making dinner.
00:31:51Do you want some?
00:31:52No, thank you.
00:31:53I had the pie.
00:31:54That's not a meal.
00:31:56Come on.
00:31:57I have plenty.
00:31:57I actually came over because I want to tell you that you're right.
00:32:05Excuse me?
00:32:07There's more than one right way to do something.
00:32:11And I'm not just talking about the sweeping.
00:32:13I'm talking about the wreaths, too.
00:32:16Okay.
00:32:18It's just that I look at the stack of orders growing taller and taller at the shop.
00:32:23And I'm, I'm just worried that we're not making a lot of progress.
00:32:28I know.
00:32:29And it's not perfect yet.
00:32:31But I'll get better.
00:32:33No, it's not all on you.
00:32:37But I, I understand your worry.
00:32:40What if you were to sketch the wreaths that we're working on?
00:32:44You know, like an instruction manual.
00:32:46That way you can show me and talk me through the steps.
00:32:50Okay.
00:32:51That'll help me get to work without you having to explain each step one wreath at a time.
00:32:56Yeah, I like that.
00:32:57You really think that'll make it go faster?
00:33:01Well, it's worth a shot, isn't it?
00:33:05Yeah.
00:33:25Hi.
00:33:25Wow.
00:33:29You've been busy.
00:33:30Well, you inspired me last night, so I hope this works.
00:33:35In thinking through the various styles, I went ahead and sketched how they should look, like you suggested.
00:33:42They're not perfect.
00:33:43It's hard drawing with my other hand.
00:33:47These are beautiful.
00:33:50I didn't know you were an artist.
00:33:52I used to draw some.
00:33:54A long time ago.
00:33:55So, I gathered everything together for the top two styles.
00:33:59And you rearranged things, too?
00:34:01More like an assembly line.
00:34:02So, you have space to put together the structure of the wreath, and then to start decorating.
00:34:07There are a few things I think I can do easily enough, like spray the snow frost and stuff like that.
00:34:12But I will need help with the ribbon.
00:34:15All right.
00:34:15This is good.
00:34:18This is good.
00:34:18This one?
00:34:20And this one?
00:34:21And...
00:34:21This one?
00:34:27This one?
00:34:28And this one?
00:34:29This one, and this one, and this one, you can actually have that one, this one, this one.
00:34:59So what do you do the rest of the year?
00:35:14This. I make reeds for whatever season or upcoming holiday. You'd be surprised at how many people come in and get one for loved ones. Kind of like a flower shop.
00:35:23Oh yeah, I can see that. I never would have thought of that myself. We get the same kind of rushes at the bakery, like during different holidays or just when someone wants to cheer up a friend with some loaves of bread or pie.
00:35:36Can't go wrong with food to celebrate.
00:35:38Exactly. But these last longer and have fewer calories.
00:35:44Have you always worked with your family's bakery?
00:35:47Pretty much. My mom and dad took it over from my mom's parents and it was basically expected that we all worked there in high school and through college.
00:35:56What did you study?
00:35:57Accounting.
00:35:58Oh.
00:36:00Dad doesn't love managing the business side of the bakery, so that was one way I could help.
00:36:06Do you like it?
00:36:08I don't mind it. I actually get to do a lot of different things from baking to cleaning to putting up signs for Christmas and sales to manning the books.
00:36:21Like a true owner.
00:36:23Yeah.
00:36:24And now you're here, putting more on your plate.
00:36:28The bakery has the rest of my family to help. This is kind of a nice break for me anyway.
00:36:33More work is a break?
00:36:35That's nice to do something different.
00:36:40Do you think you'll take over for your parents after they retire?
00:36:43Uh, probably. Or at least that's what everyone assumes.
00:36:49You don't seem excited about it.
00:36:52It's not that per se. I just, I wouldn't mind doing something else.
00:36:56Like what?
00:36:58Well, for a while now I've wanted to start my own restaurant.
00:37:02Really? With what type of food?
00:37:06It doesn't really fall into one category.
00:37:09It's kind of a fusion of flavors and influences and recipes that I've sort of worked on and fine-tuned over the years.
00:37:17That's amazing. You should do it.
00:37:21Thanks, but I'm not there yet. The bakery's always so busy and I don't know how my parents will feel.
00:37:33You haven't talked to him about it yet?
00:37:35No. My dad's always telling me he doesn't know what he'd do without me.
00:37:40Oh.
00:37:42Yeah, it's not the right time now anyway.
00:37:48He's so nice. And he's sacrificing so much.
00:37:52But he's gotta be tiring himself out with everything he's doing.
00:37:56And yet he still does it.
00:37:57I feel horrible when I think of what I thought of him before.
00:38:01Him being an inconsiderate neighbor who let his guest block your driveway?
00:38:06Oh, yes. In hindsight, it wasn't so bad. But I could have been nicer.
00:38:13It hasn't stopped him from wanting to help.
00:38:15No. It hasn't even stopped him from being nice. He's always waving and smiling.
00:38:22He could be one of those people who just lets things bounce right off of him.
00:38:28Maybe.
00:38:30Or he could have a different motive.
00:38:33What?
00:38:35Nothing. I should meet him sometime.
00:38:39Okay.
00:38:41Oh, we should hurry so you aren't late for your follow-up appointment with the doctor.
00:38:46You make fake wreaths, right?
00:38:48I call them artificial. And yes, technically you do too. You made some the other day.
00:38:55Saw such a blur now. So which are more popular?
00:38:59The fresh ones. There's something more special about them.
00:39:04They're harder to make though, right?
00:39:06Yes and no. Each need a bit of creativity and work to make them shine.
00:39:10Well, you are very creative.
00:39:13It's a lot for one person to handle.
00:39:15I can handle it, usually.
00:39:16So how do you take time off? Go on vacation? Or if you're not feeling well, go home and rest?
00:39:22If I had to, I could close up early or something.
00:39:26Have you ever done that?
00:39:28Not really. But this is important to me.
00:39:32So important you won't have someone back you up?
00:39:35It's easier to be self-sufficient and not depend on anyone.
00:39:38Oh, hey, I don't know how often you're used to getting paid.
00:39:43But here.
00:39:45Oh no, that's not necessary.
00:39:47It is.
00:39:49You're working here.
00:39:50I'm helping.
00:39:52I never expected to get paid.
00:39:54Why would you not get paid?
00:39:55You're spending so much time here and I was going to hire someone anyway.
00:40:01Thanks.
00:40:03But I'm fine without it.
00:40:05Okay, this one is going to the church, right?
00:40:09Should we take it over?
00:40:11Um, yeah.
00:40:13Sure.
00:40:14What's wrong?
00:40:21Nothing.
00:40:23You've been scowling at me the whole drive over.
00:40:28Sorry.
00:40:30And I'm not scowling.
00:40:32I'm just puzzled.
00:40:35About what?
00:40:37You're different than I thought.
00:40:41Okay.
00:40:42I mean, I thought you were...
00:40:46I guess I was judging you based on the tiny bit I knew of you as my neighbor.
00:40:51And I wasn't even close to who you really are.
00:40:55Oh.
00:40:57I'm sorry.
00:40:59I didn't give you much of a chance.
00:41:03If you assume something about me, it's probably because I gave you a reason to.
00:41:08And it's natural to have certain assumptions after you meet someone.
00:41:13But...
00:41:15I am glad that we know each other better now.
00:41:18Me too.
00:41:23Pastor Kevin likes to hang it right up here.
00:41:26You know, I've seen these on Sundays. I just never connected that they were from you.
00:41:30Mm-hmm.
00:41:32Do you bring one often then?
00:41:34Every week.
00:41:35Oh, I thought they lasted longer than that.
00:41:37They do. He gives them to a family after services. Spread some cheer.
00:41:42That's really nice.
00:41:44Hey, Rebecca. And Jason. Good to see you both.
00:41:48Hi, Pastor.
00:41:49How's the arm?
00:41:50Getting better.
00:41:51Jason's actually been helping me at the shop, so I don't overdo it.
00:41:54That's very kind of you.
00:41:56Oh, Jason. Your father called about the booth for the Christmas Market.
00:42:00Could you let him know that the spot that he wanted works fine, and I'll reserve that for the bakery.
00:42:04Sure thing. Thank you.
00:42:05I'm looking forward to it. Just a week away now. There's so much to prepare still.
00:42:10We'll let you get back to it.
00:42:12Well, stay as long as you like. And thanks again for the wreath, Rebecca.
00:42:15She donates one to the church every week. So generous.
00:42:20See ya.
00:42:21Bye.
00:42:22See ya.
00:42:29Do you make these too?
00:42:31No. I just can't help myself.
00:42:36Hey, can I ask you something?
00:42:38Of course.
00:42:39You mentioned before you don't really like depending on anyone else.
00:42:44Why is that?
00:42:46Well...
00:42:50You know, it's not weakness to ask for help.
00:42:56I know.
00:42:58Relying on someone means trusting them.
00:43:00I used to want to be an interior designer, like for people's homes and offices and such.
00:43:10I was interning at a design firm and was paired with someone.
00:43:14Neil.
00:43:16Several people were coming up with designs for this new tech company's headquarters.
00:43:20It was a big deal.
00:43:22I worked so hard, coming up with styles and themes and throwing them out until I had the best.
00:43:32I showed it to Neil and he said he wanted to help me fine tune it.
00:43:37Instead, he took my work and turned it in as if it were only his.
00:43:42It launched his career.
00:43:47And it left me behind.
00:43:50I'm sorry.
00:43:52What bothered me the most is I thought we were friends.
00:43:56But he was talking about me behind my back.
00:43:59The whole time.
00:44:00So between that and the scheming, well...
00:44:05Anyone who says they want to help usually has another motive.
00:44:10Then what's my motive?
00:44:13I've been trying to figure that out.
00:44:16Can it just be that I care?
00:44:19I don't know.
00:44:22Well, it is.
00:44:23Everybody deserves to have people in their lives who care about them.
00:44:31Just know that you do too.
00:44:34Even if you don't believe me.
00:44:38I believe you.
00:44:46Thanks for coming with me.
00:44:47I was happy to.
00:44:49And for your work today.
00:44:51You're welcome.
00:44:52You know, since you won't let me pay you, can I at least buy you dinner?
00:44:59Uh...
00:45:01I have a better idea.
00:45:09Here we are.
00:45:11Wow.
00:45:13Oh, good.
00:45:15Oh, and this one...
00:45:17Pumpkin or cinnamon?
00:45:19Ooh.
00:45:21Both.
00:45:24All right.
00:45:26Now we just need some plates and cups.
00:45:29Okay.
00:45:30Which one's your favorite?
00:45:32I can't pick.
00:45:34I think depending on my mood, either one could be my first choice.
00:45:37And for...
00:45:39Nine o'clock at night?
00:45:41Mmm.
00:45:43The cinnamon one.
00:45:44Good choice.
00:45:46Thank you for this.
00:45:48So much for me treating you, though.
00:45:50Maybe some other time.
00:45:54So you said you have the recipes for the restaurant.
00:45:56Do you use any of them here?
00:45:58Uh, no.
00:46:00Although, sometimes I'll take the leftover loaves and make cake truffles.
00:46:05How so?
00:46:07Well, imagine that cinnamon one with some more ingredients mixed in.
00:46:12Mm-hmm.
00:46:13Shaped into a ball and then dipped in chocolate.
00:46:15That sounds delicious.
00:46:17How'd you even come up with a recipe for something like that?
00:46:20Just experimenting.
00:46:22Is that what you like about cooking?
00:46:24Yeah, yeah. The discovery process of creating something new.
00:46:29And when it tastes amazing, even better.
00:46:32Don't all your recipes taste amazing?
00:46:35At first, it was very hit or miss.
00:46:38But I liked figuring out the balance to get just the right taste.
00:46:43I don't know, maybe that's where the accounting side comes in.
00:46:46Balancing numbers and now ingredients.
00:46:48So, would you be the chef?
00:46:52Probably at first.
00:46:54But, you know, I'd need others to cook and wait tables.
00:46:58Help.
00:46:59You know, I certainly couldn't do it by myself.
00:47:02Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it.
00:47:05Hello?
00:47:07That's my mom.
00:47:09We're out in front.
00:47:11Hey, if you wouldn't mind just keeping the restaurant thing between us for now.
00:47:15Of course.
00:47:16Hello?
00:47:17What are you doing here so...
00:47:20Oh, hi.
00:47:22Hi.
00:47:23This is Rebecca.
00:47:25Rebecca, this is Joyce, my mom, and Aaron, my dad.
00:47:29How wonderful to meet you.
00:47:31You as well.
00:47:32It's been a while since you snuck a date here.
00:47:34Mom.
00:47:36I'm teasing.
00:47:38He makes it too easy.
00:47:39So what brings you guys in?
00:47:41Well, your mom was convinced we didn't have enough dough rising, so here we are to check.
00:47:44Jason said you got injured. How are you feeling now?
00:47:48Getting better every day.
00:47:50And really, your son has been so nice.
00:47:52Very helpful and never complains.
00:47:54Really?
00:47:55Oh, he complains here a lot.
00:47:57Only when you make me deep clean the oven.
00:47:59Yeah.
00:48:06Hi. Nice to see you.
00:48:08Merry Christmas.
00:48:09Yeah, Merry Christmas to you too.
00:48:10Good to see you again.
00:48:12Hi.
00:48:14Morning.
00:48:15Hey, how was your weekend?
00:48:17Good, so far.
00:48:19I heard there was a guest at the bakery last night.
00:48:23Mom told you.
00:48:25Very excitedly.
00:48:27Really?
00:48:28Expect more questions from Mom when she gets here.
00:48:31You know it's not much of a secret you like Rebecca, right?
00:48:36Making excuses for her whenever she's unhappy with you for something?
00:48:40Why do that?
00:48:41Well, maybe I...
00:48:42And now, sacrificing all your extra time helping her with her store?
00:48:47Dead giveaway.
00:48:48Okay, thank you.
00:48:49But I'm just helping her because I...
00:48:51Like her.
00:48:53I walked right into that one.
00:48:55Yup.
00:48:56Look who's here.
00:48:58Good morning.
00:48:59Hi, Rebecca.
00:49:00This is my sister, Miranda.
00:49:02Hi, Miranda.
00:49:03It's great to meet you.
00:49:04You too.
00:49:06So, I'm gonna go find a seat.
00:49:07I'll see you later?
00:49:08Yeah.
00:49:11I didn't know she came here, did you?
00:49:16Yeah.
00:49:17But she used to pretend she didn't see me.
00:49:20Wow.
00:49:21Now you must be doing something right.
00:49:29Are you okay?
00:49:30You look a bit tired.
00:49:31You flatter me.
00:49:33You're not working too much, are you?
00:49:35Not nearly as much as Jason is.
00:49:42Jason, right?
00:49:43Yeah.
00:49:44I've heard so much about you.
00:49:46That's ominous.
00:49:47Good things.
00:49:48I promise.
00:49:49This is my friend Angie.
00:49:50That's nice to meet you.
00:49:51Nice to meet you.
00:49:52I was just telling Rebecca that she needs to take a break occasionally.
00:49:56What do you think Sundays are for?
00:49:58Day of rest.
00:49:59I'm resting.
00:50:00Well, tonight is the Nativity art show.
00:50:02I went last year and it was very sweet.
00:50:04So, you'll go?
00:50:06Both of you?
00:50:08Uh, sure.
00:50:09What is it exactly?
00:50:11Oh, lots of families bring their Nativity sets to display.
00:50:15There ends up being a lot of different styles.
00:50:17It's very unique.
00:50:19So...
00:50:21Yeah, I'll come.
00:50:22Yeah, yeah.
00:50:23Great.
00:50:24Jason, do you mind driving her?
00:50:26Might as well come together and you can make sure that Rebecca doesn't slip and fall again.
00:50:30Hey.
00:50:31I will.
00:50:32Starts at 7 o'clock.
00:50:33Okay, I'll pick you up at 6.45.
00:50:36Great.
00:50:37I'll see you then.
00:50:42What was that?
00:50:43A date.
00:50:44You're welcome.
00:50:45Angie, it is not like that.
00:50:47Then open your eyes.
00:50:58It's not a date.
00:51:00Angie.
00:51:12I had no idea there were this many types of Nativities.
00:51:15My mom gets a Christmas catalog every year.
00:51:17It's full of them.
00:51:19I mean, the different things that they're made from and the styles.
00:51:23I thought all Nativities looked like my grandmother's set.
00:51:28What did that look like?
00:51:30Fragile.
00:51:32There were all these little cracks and chips in the ceramic.
00:51:36I think she had to glue them together anytime anybody played with them.
00:51:42My mom used to collect them for a while too.
00:51:45Until she realized that we ran out of spots in the house to actually display them.
00:51:49So, she ended up giving them away to our neighbor friends.
00:51:54How about you? Do you have one?
00:51:57Not anymore.
00:51:59After I moved in, I misplaced some boxes and I haven't found my set since.
00:52:03You know, I remember the day you moved in.
00:52:06You do?
00:52:07Yeah, it was snowing and you and the movers had to dust off all the snow off the top of the boxes.
00:52:13Oh, it was snowing. Everything was so damp.
00:52:16I unpacked all my books first, just in case the boxes soaked through.
00:52:22I'll admit I was nursing a cold and selfishly decided not to go out and help you move in.
00:52:31You're forgiven.
00:52:34So, what brought you to the neighborhood?
00:52:38It was my fresh start after my failed interior design career and just figuring out everything that came after that.
00:52:46I was so excited.
00:52:49A little scared too, trying something new.
00:52:52But a few months after that, my wreath shop was taking off.
00:52:56Well, it seems like everything's worked out pretty well.
00:52:59Yeah, I guess so.
00:53:02That's good. I know you work hard and you're good at what you do.
00:53:06It's just nice to see that kind of success.
00:53:11You deserve it.
00:53:13Thanks.
00:53:16So, any favorites here?
00:53:22No, not really.
00:53:25Oh, come on. There's got to be at least one.
00:53:28That's the problem. There's like 20.
00:53:31Top three.
00:53:33No, I can't do it.
00:53:34I can't do it.
00:53:35I'm the guy that shops at the big box stores because they limit the number of choices you have.
00:53:40It stresses me out.
00:53:42What? What's wrong?
00:53:47Nothing. This one is just beautiful.
00:53:52Yeah, it is.
00:53:53It just seems so peaceful.
00:53:58Is that silly to say?
00:54:00No, not at all.
00:54:03Admit it. This one is your favorite.
00:54:05Yes.
00:54:06This one is definitely one of my 25 most favorite ones here.
00:54:11Excuse me. I have a work party. Do you have more of these in the back?
00:54:16Let me check.
00:54:18Anyone know why we're running out of rolls so fast?
00:54:20The closer to Christmas we get.
00:54:21The more everyone eats.
00:54:22And it's only going to get busier.
00:54:24Mm-hmm.
00:54:25Every year, too. I mean, five years ago it wasn't this busy.
00:54:27Just think how it'll be when you're running it all, Jason.
00:54:28Yeah.
00:54:30Guess what?
00:54:31What?
00:54:33We're almost caught up. By this time tomorrow, we'll be finished with all the online orders.
00:54:37Really?
00:54:38Which is perfect timing because I usually switch all my efforts fully over to the Christmas market.
00:54:43Oh, you're right.
00:54:44You're right.
00:54:45You're right.
00:54:46You're right.
00:54:47You're right.
00:54:48You're right.
00:54:49You're right.
00:54:50You're right.
00:54:51You're right.
00:54:52You're right.
00:54:53You're right.
00:54:54You're right.
00:54:55You're right.
00:54:56Over to the Christmas market.
00:54:58Oh.
00:55:00What?
00:55:01No, I just, I forgot about that.
00:55:03I'm sorry. You're already doing so much.
00:55:05No, it's fine.
00:55:06It's not fine.
00:55:07Your responsibilities at the bakery keep you so busy.
00:55:11Do you want to take a day off from this?
00:55:13I can juggle both. It's, it's no worry.
00:55:18Come on.
00:55:20We're closing up early and going out.
00:55:22Why?
00:55:23Because you deserve a break.
00:55:25How about dinner to start?
00:55:28Uh, why don't we grab something to go?
00:55:31Okay.
00:55:33To go where?
00:55:34You'll see.
00:55:41Here we are.
00:55:43What is this place?
00:55:44Place to grab dinner one day.
00:55:47Your future restaurant?
00:55:49I've had my eye on this place ever since it closed down.
00:55:53I think it'd be perfect.
00:55:59I'd need to adjust a few things to make it work for what I want.
00:56:02Like, I think I'd rearrange the seating a bit to give people some privacy, but still let them feel like the presence of the place.
00:56:09Sounds like it'd be cozy. Romantic.
00:56:13Yeah.
00:56:15Then I'd take the counter out further, give some more space to work behind.
00:56:18How fancy do you want to make it?
00:56:20I can't decide.
00:56:22I, I like the whole waiter and sit down experience.
00:56:25Maybe because it's different from the bakery, but there's an energy to the, the quick turnover of customers if I go more fast casual.
00:56:35Maybe it's a little bit of both.
00:56:37What if the ordering process is fast casual, but then there's little small pockets of seating for privacy. Let people enjoy their evenings.
00:56:49I like that.
00:56:52Anyway, it doesn't matter right now, of course.
00:56:56It's not the right time.
00:56:58It could be.
00:57:00Can't the bakery run without you?
00:57:02I'd like to think so.
00:57:04I just worry that without somebody really running it, that it, it might fail. And I don't want that either.
00:57:13Do your sisters want to run the bakery?
00:57:16Well, they love it, but I just don't think they want the pressure of fully being in charge, so.
00:57:23It falls on you.
00:57:25Maybe it's foolish to risk starting a new restaurant when we already have something successful.
00:57:31It's not foolish to dream.
00:57:33And if you don't try it, you'll always regret it or wonder if you could have made it thrive.
00:57:40That's why it got me to open up my shop.
00:57:43Was that difficult?
00:57:45I mean, I know it had to be, but how did you make it into what it is now?
00:57:50It started off as a gift shop with home decor, but there was nothing special about it. I hadn't created anything.
00:57:59I love Christmas, so I started making wreaths to offer at the shop.
00:58:03They did so well, I started making them year round, and soon that became the focus.
00:58:09Not someone else's inventory, but my creations.
00:58:13That's what I want.
00:58:14That's what I want.
00:58:19So what are you going to do then?
00:58:21I don't know.
00:58:23Maybe you could start by bringing your parents here to see this place.
00:58:27Maybe.
00:58:28My interior design skills are a bit rusty, but I could help design something when you're ready.
00:58:38At the very least, I could supply some awesome wreaths for the cause.
00:58:43Any style you'd like.
00:58:44Well, I would love that.
00:58:48Thanks.
00:58:50Thanks for showing me this.
00:59:05Dad?
00:59:06Hey, honey.
00:59:08It's late there. Is something wrong?
00:59:10Yes. I don't know what to get your mom for Christmas.
00:59:12You still have time.
00:59:16Not much.
00:59:17Can you think of anything she's mentioned?
00:59:20A new can opener? Hers broke a while ago.
00:59:23She already got a replacement.
00:59:25New pajamas?
00:59:27She's got a drawer full of those.
00:59:29Oh, what about take us to a show?
00:59:32No. Then I have to sit through it, too.
00:59:35You can stay there for her and Aunt Sarah.
00:59:38Maybe.
00:59:40What are you getting her?
00:59:42I...
00:59:45I'm still working on that.
00:59:47How have I not gotten them anything yet? They're my parents.
00:59:51You've been busy. And I'm not just saying that, like, it's a flimsy excuse.
00:59:54Your arm, worrying about the store, constantly working with your handsome neighbor. It's a lot.
00:59:59Well, if you see anything you think they'd like, or that you get your parents, speak up.
01:00:05Got it.
01:00:07Are we ignoring my quip about Jason?
01:00:09Yes.
01:00:11Ignoring signals something different than denial.
01:00:13No, it doesn't.
01:00:14It means it's true.
01:00:15Well, I...
01:00:17Listen. Think of it this way. After Christmas, after your arm heals up, won't you miss having Jason around?
01:00:24It does get quiet sometimes.
01:00:26But I worked alone before all this anyway. And it's not like I won't see him again. He is my next door neighbor, after all.
01:00:35Who you ignored before all this happened.
01:00:38You really think we won't see each other?
01:00:39I think you will let the distance build back up, and convince yourself you're fine without him. That you don't have feelings for him.
01:00:47I don't.
01:00:55Alright, I'll be right back with your order.
01:00:57Thank you. Don't deny it, you like him.
01:01:00Okay, but as a friend.
01:01:04Maybe more than a friend. But not enough to do something about it.
01:01:07Why not?
01:01:09Because of the fear all women have. Unrequited love.
01:01:12It is not unrequited. I have seen you two together. There is something more than friendship, more than neighbors, more than coworkers, if you can even call him that. There's a spark.
01:01:24See? I know these things.
01:01:27Fine. Maybe there's something between us.
01:01:30So what are you gonna do about it?
01:01:32Ugh, that's another problem for another day. We need to get back to shopping.
01:01:37Progress.
01:01:38Here you go.
01:01:45Hey.
01:01:46Hey.
01:01:47Did you just open up the shop?
01:01:48Yes. Had some emergency Christmas shopping to do.
01:01:51Ah, December got away from you, huh?
01:01:53Yeah.
01:01:54Now where is my wrapping paper?
01:01:59Huh. I must have used it all.
01:02:01I have some at home. You want me to get it?
01:02:02No, that's okay. I'll do it when I get home.
01:02:05Are you gonna need some help?
01:02:07Maybe someone to hold the wrapping paper in place while you tape it down?
01:02:11Huh. I didn't think about that.
01:02:15Who's this for?
01:02:17My dad. He likes to read a lot.
01:02:20Are your parents nearby?
01:02:22No, but they're flying in for Christmas this year.
01:02:24When do they get here?
01:02:26The 22nd.
01:02:28That's nice.
01:02:30Okay, you wanna tape it?
01:02:32Yes.
01:02:34Okay.
01:02:39Looks good.
01:02:43Alright, these are for my dad also.
01:02:45Cool.
01:02:46He actually already has a really nice pair, but he uses that noise-canceling feature without realizing it.
01:02:53But that's bad?
01:02:55One day, my mom was trying to get a hold of him for several hours as she was running errands.
01:03:01She was convinced something horrible had happened, but when she got home, he was watching a movie on his tablet with his headphones on.
01:03:10Because of the noise-canceling, he couldn't hear the calls.
01:03:12Exactly.
01:03:14So, this is a nice pair, but without that feature.
01:03:17Just to avoid any future panic.
01:03:19Good idea.
01:03:20Ready?
01:03:22Yes.
01:03:24Sorry.
01:03:37Oh, get the tape.
01:03:42Done.
01:03:43I don't want to get your hopes up, but that was the last of that style.
01:03:55Which means, we only have the pine-grown reeds left to do.
01:03:59Seriously?
01:04:00Yep.
01:04:02Alright.
01:04:03I'm starting to think you're better at this than I am.
01:04:05No way.
01:04:06Faster, maybe.
01:04:07But only because one of my arms isn't in a sling.
01:04:12Hang on, it's my dad.
01:04:15Hello?
01:04:18Okay, okay, slow down.
01:04:22Did you try calling the...
01:04:25Yeah, okay.
01:04:26I'll be there soon.
01:04:27What's wrong?
01:04:28There's a...
01:04:29a leak at the bakery kitchen.
01:04:31I better go over and see what I can do to help.
01:04:33Of course.
01:04:34We'll finish this later?
01:04:36Yes.
01:04:37Take care of the bakery.
01:04:38Okay.
01:04:39See you soon.
01:04:41Uh...
01:04:42Maybe hand me the screwdriver.
01:04:43That's not gonna fix a pipe, Tom.
01:04:46Oh, good, you're here.
01:04:48Did you turn off the water main?
01:04:49Yes, and I think the pipe that's leaking is right under there.
01:04:51Let me see.
01:04:52Oh, is Gabby minding the register?
01:04:54Oh, Miranda, can you check if she needs anything?
01:05:04Hi, Rebecca.
01:05:05Pastor Kevin.
01:05:06How are things shaping up for the Christmas market?
01:05:08I have all the directions for it here.
01:05:11Perfect.
01:05:12But let me know if you have any questions.
01:05:13Okay, great.
01:05:15Mm-hmm.
01:05:16How will your preparations come along?
01:05:17Perfectly.
01:05:18I'm pretty much ready.
01:05:20Jason has been working so hard with me on this.
01:05:24He's good at it, too.
01:05:26He's one I think could succeed at anything he does.
01:05:29I was a little hesitant at first, but it's worked out.
01:05:33Sounds like Jason has been an answer to prayers.
01:05:37Yes, he might be.
01:05:40Well, I have to drop more of these off, so...
01:05:42I'm gonna head to Jason's bakery.
01:05:43Would you like me to take something to him?
01:05:45Sure, that'd be great.
01:05:47What?
01:05:50You're welcome.
01:05:51Okay, see you later.
01:05:52Bye.
01:05:53There's a lot we need to start baking for the Christmas market now.
01:05:56I know, but at least we have a few more days till the Christmas pie pre-orders are due,
01:06:00so that will help us prioritize.
01:06:02Let's hope the plumber can fix this soon.
01:06:04But we can't turn the water back until after he comes.
01:06:07Are we gonna be open tomorrow?
01:06:09Of course.
01:06:10Miranda and Tom, you finished cleaning up.
01:06:12Aaron, can you take the dirty dishes home and wash them there?
01:06:15Gabby, it's almost closing time, so finish wiping up there and go ahead and button up the storefront.
01:06:20Jason, can you work on the pumpkin loaves for the market?
01:06:23Uh, I'm actually gonna head back to the Reese shop.
01:06:27We could use the help.
01:06:29I know. I'll be back later.
01:06:31I'm sure her neighbor would understand if you explained it to her.
01:06:34Yes, but I don't want to do that to her.
01:06:36Why not?
01:06:37Hello?
01:06:42They're doing a lot for her.
01:06:45Rebecca depends on me.
01:06:47Maybe too much.
01:06:48I'm sure she's not just taking advantage of your good will.
01:06:51You do spend a lot of time there.
01:06:54Yes, maybe you're right, but of course we're right.
01:06:57It's not like you owe her anything.
01:07:00Not when she could have been nicer to you too, you know?
01:07:03Yes, I get what you're saying.
01:07:06She can be difficult and impatient and stubborn and frustratingly hyper-focused.
01:07:16But it's because she is trying so hard to do her best on her own and not let anyone else down.
01:07:24She is so talented and generous too and wonderful.
01:07:34I'm not helping her because I owe her.
01:07:36It's something I want to do.
01:07:38And being over there, to be honest, is a nice break.
01:07:45It's refreshing.
01:07:47I like it.
01:07:49Well, can she spare you for the rest of the evening?
01:07:53I hear what you're saying, Jason.
01:07:55Really I do.
01:07:56I just think we'd feel better if you could help us get things going tonight.
01:08:00Since this leak is really, really hindering us.
01:08:04I can take your shift tomorrow.
01:08:06That way you can go to Rebecca's early.
01:08:09Okay.
01:08:39Surprise!
01:08:40You are!
01:08:41Oh, why didn't you say anything?
01:08:42Well, I knew you didn't want us to change our flights, but I figured with the Christmas market you could use the help.
01:08:56Besides, we wanted to be with you.
01:08:58I could have at least picked you up from the airport.
01:09:00No need.
01:09:01Now, no peeking in this one, okay?
01:09:04We brought every present from under our tree.
01:09:07Oh, thank you both.
01:09:09You have no idea how good it is to see you.
01:09:12Come in.
01:09:13Come in.
01:09:14Honey, keep the glue from getting everywhere.
01:09:18You got a little bit on your shirt right here.
01:09:21How would you look at that?
01:09:22I'll get something and clean it.
01:09:23Thanks, honey.
01:09:25Hi.
01:09:26Hi.
01:09:27New recruits?
01:09:29My parents.
01:09:30They came early.
01:09:31Oh, that's great.
01:09:32Yeah, about that, I don't want to take up any more of your time.
01:09:36Since they're here, they can help me finish up.
01:09:39Oh.
01:09:40It's okay.
01:09:41I mean, I'm happy to...
01:09:43Yeah, I know.
01:09:44But I think I owe you enough as it is.
01:09:47I don't want to take advantage of your goodwill.
01:09:51But you aren't.
01:09:56But still.
01:10:01Uh...
01:10:02Okay.
01:10:03Call me if you need anything.
01:10:08I'll, uh, see you at the Christmas market later?
01:10:11Probably.
01:10:12Okay.
01:10:13Okay.
01:10:14I'll, uh...
01:10:15Till then.
01:10:22Rebecca, you're gonna have to teach me how to use this cool thing again.
01:10:26coming.
01:10:27It's good to see you later.
01:10:28It's good to see you later.
01:10:29It's good to see you later.
01:10:30Missed it with water every couple days if you want it to last beyond Christmas.
01:10:32You're welcome.
01:10:33Hi.
01:10:34Hi.
01:10:35Hi.
01:10:36Hi.
01:10:37Do you have any artificial wreaths?
01:10:38Sure do.
01:10:39What's wrong?
01:10:40Good question.
01:10:41Well, Mom thinks we'll need more of the cinnamon loaves.
01:10:48Uh, I'll call Tom to bring some more from the bakery.
01:10:50Um, I'll call Tom to bring some more from the bakery.
01:10:56We also have more traditional, but this is more traditional.
01:10:58Okay.
01:10:59Do you want some?
01:11:02Cash resort.
01:11:04What's wrong?
01:11:05Good question.
01:11:07Well, Mom thinks we'll need more of the cinnamon loaves.
01:11:10Uh, I'll call Tom to bring some more from the bakery.
01:11:17One of the busiest markets yet.
01:11:19It is.
01:11:20Here, hot chocolate for you and your parents.
01:11:22Ah, sustenance.
01:11:24How kind.
01:11:26How is everyone doing?
01:11:27Any word?
01:11:28I've had some vendors tell me they already broke last year's sales mark, and it's only four o'clock.
01:11:33That's great.
01:11:34I had eight families in mind to help this year, but the donated portion of the market's proceeds might make it possible for the church to help nine or ten families.
01:11:43How wonderful.
01:11:44Sure.
01:11:45Oh, I'll leave you to it.
01:11:47Okay.
01:11:49Hi.
01:11:50These wreaths are so pretty.
01:11:52My mom talks about them all the time.
01:11:54Can I get two?
01:11:55Oh, sure.
01:11:56Which ones?
01:12:03Hey.
01:12:04Hey.
01:12:05How's the shopping?
01:12:06Good.
01:12:06I tried these cookies from the booth over there.
01:12:10Here, try one.
01:12:12What else did you get?
01:12:13I got a leather journal for my dad, and hand-painted cards for my mom, and ooh, this cinnamon bread from the bakery over there.
01:12:21Have you tried it?
01:12:23Yes, I have.
01:12:24Ooh, Jason is looking this way.
01:12:26Is everything okay?
01:12:30Mm-hmm.
01:12:30I'm fine.
01:12:32Rebecca.
01:12:34I should just focus over here.
01:12:37All right.
01:12:38Can I get one of those loaves?
01:12:42Sure.
01:12:43Jason?
01:12:45Anything else?
01:12:46That's it.
01:12:48Uh, hang on.
01:12:50Sorry.
01:12:50I didn't think this through.
01:12:51Here.
01:12:52Thanks.
01:12:53Have you seen those before?
01:12:55She makes all these gorgeous wreaths.
01:12:57Yes, I have.
01:12:58She's very talented.
01:13:07Thanks.
01:13:08Merry Christmas.
01:13:09Merry Christmas.
01:13:17Rebecca.
01:13:19Hi.
01:13:20Hey.
01:13:21Um, how's the market going for you?
01:13:24Good.
01:13:25Thanks.
01:13:27And you?
01:13:28Uh, yeah, good, I think.
01:13:32Um, is everything okay?
01:13:36I'm fine.
01:13:38Uh, listen, I'm sorry I had to leave you the other day.
01:13:41Don't be.
01:13:42You have other responsibilities.
01:13:44I get it.
01:13:45Okay, good.
01:13:48Then what's wrong?
01:13:50I, don't say nothing, because I know you well enough to know that something is bothering you.
01:13:54I stopped by the bakery that day, and from what I heard, it's clear you resent me, and all the time that you've spent at the shop.
01:14:06I just wish you would have told me, rather than talk behind my back, but it's done.
01:14:12Whoa, wait.
01:14:13I didn't say anything like that.
01:14:14You called me stubborn, and difficult, and frustrating.
01:14:20And you didn't object when your family told you how they feel about me.
01:14:25Rebecca, yes.
01:14:27I said those things, but I told them that's part of what makes you so wonderful.
01:14:31You are so capable and creative.
01:14:36Every trait you have, you throw into being amazing at whatever you do.
01:14:42I admire every single thing about you.
01:14:46And with my family, they were stressed because of the leak at the bakery.
01:14:51But whatever you heard, it doesn't matter, because I've wanted to help.
01:14:56I've never felt like it's been too much or anything like that.
01:15:02I've enjoyed spending time with you.
01:15:07Don't you believe me?
01:15:11It doesn't matter.
01:15:14Thanks to you, we got through the worst of it, and the work's done.
01:15:18You have your job, and I have mine.
01:15:21This whole situation was going to end anyway, and now life gets to go back to being normal.
01:15:31Normal?
01:15:32What?
01:15:35Is that what you want?
01:15:38It's for the best.
01:15:43Alright.
01:15:46Well, I'll see you at...
01:15:49Later.
01:15:5112% more than last year.
01:16:05Oh, great.
01:16:07How were things here while we were at the Christmas market?
01:16:09Quiet here.
01:16:09I think everyone else was there with you.
01:16:11That wouldn't surprise me.
01:16:13It was busy, wasn't it, Jason?
01:16:16Jason?
01:16:18What?
01:16:19Oh, yeah, no, it was great.
01:16:27So, how's the inventory looking?
01:16:31Well, I don't know about you both, but I'm starving.
01:16:33How about we eat out?
01:16:35I'm pretty tired.
01:16:36You go on.
01:16:37I'll stay here at the shop and put some things away.
01:16:39We'll meet you back at your house?
01:16:40Yeah, that sounds good.
01:16:42Oh, we'll bring you back something, too.
01:16:44Thanks, Dad.
01:16:44So, what are you grieving?
01:16:58Hi, I have three pies to pick up.
01:17:00Great.
01:17:00Can I see your order confirmation?
01:17:02Yes.
01:17:04Picon, pumpkin, and apple.
01:17:13Yeah.
01:17:14Merry Christmas.
01:17:16A little cheer wouldn't hurt.
01:17:19Sorry.
01:17:21Miranda, can you manage alone for a minute?
01:17:23Yeah.
01:17:24Come on, Jason.
01:17:28What's going on?
01:17:30I just wanted to talk.
01:17:32About what?
01:17:32You're not fooling me.
01:17:34You're unhappy.
01:17:36I-I'm...
01:17:38Okay, maybe a little.
01:17:43But it's...
01:17:44It's fine.
01:17:45Give me a few days and I'll be...
01:17:47Good as new.
01:17:49No, you won't.
01:17:50You've been unhappy for a while.
01:17:52And it's not just about Rebecca.
01:17:57Have you ever wanted to do something other than...
01:18:00Run this place?
01:18:01Yes.
01:18:03Really?
01:18:04I thought about a lot of different things over the years that I wanted to do, but...
01:18:09Every one of them was going to become work.
01:18:11Good days, bad days, stressful ones.
01:18:14Easy ones, too.
01:18:15But...
01:18:16Do you know what I love about our bakery?
01:18:20Your peppermint cream pie recipe.
01:18:24I love working together with our family.
01:18:27The joy it gives me seeing us tackle everything, the day-to-day challenges as a family.
01:18:33That's what I love.
01:18:36But I could see you all outside of work and still be just as happy.
01:18:39You could?
01:18:41Is that something you'd want?
01:18:44I want to start something of my own.
01:18:48I want to start something of my own.
01:18:49A restaurant.
01:18:52I'm proud of this place, but I...
01:18:55It's time to pursue your own dream.
01:18:57I think that sounds wonderful.
01:19:01Yeah?
01:19:01It's going to be hard.
01:19:03And the challenges, the risks are...
01:19:05Big, I know.
01:19:06But if anyone can make it work, it's you.
01:19:10I'll miss seeing how you run things around here and keep us all in order.
01:19:13But I'll get to see how you use those talents next.
01:19:20Thanks, Mom.
01:19:21But I still better see you for Sunday dinners, at the very least.
01:19:26Definitely.
01:19:26Definitely.
01:19:43I'll miss you for Sunday dinners, at the very least.
01:20:13How long are your parents going to stay?
01:20:19I think three?
01:20:21No, four days after Christmas.
01:20:23Maybe you should ask Jason if he could come back and help after they leave.
01:20:27That Christmas rush is over.
01:20:30And that work arrangement was going to end anyway.
01:20:32But your arm isn't fully healed.
01:20:34It would be uncomfortable to let him come back.
01:20:37I'd rather do it on my own.
01:20:39I really wish you wouldn't.
01:20:41Well, if you're still open to it,
01:20:42you could lend a hand on Saturdays.
01:20:45Of course I'm willing.
01:20:46But didn't you like having Jason here?
01:20:49At times.
01:20:51I don't think he meant to hurt you.
01:20:53And I think you know that too.
01:20:54So, is it possible you're using this as a way to protect yourself?
01:20:59No, I...
01:21:00I don't know.
01:21:04You were happier with him around.
01:21:07You seemed lighter and more full of life.
01:21:09I don't want you to lose that.
01:21:11If you let him go, I'm afraid you'll end up back here.
01:21:16Closed off, stuck in the shop.
01:21:19You're my best friend.
01:21:21And I want you to have whatever makes you happy.
01:21:24Just be sure you're honest with yourself about what that is, okay?
01:21:27Okay.
01:21:29Okay.
01:21:38Turkey's almost ready.
01:21:39Almost?
01:21:40Like we eat soon?
01:21:41Or 45 more minutes?
01:21:4310 more minutes, and then it needs to rest a little.
01:21:46Has to rest?
01:21:48Is it tired?
01:21:49Would you like to open a Christmas present?
01:21:51Would that help keep you occupied?
01:21:52Yes.
01:21:53Is that all right, Rebecca?
01:21:55Sure.
01:21:57Right.
01:22:00This one's for me.
01:22:02All right.
01:22:06Thank you, dear.
01:22:07You're welcome.
01:22:11Oh, this is wonderful.
01:22:14Something to do with the turkey.
01:22:16Takes too long of a nap.
01:22:18Is this from you, George?
01:22:21Yes.
01:22:22Ooh, a spa set.
01:22:24Thank you, honey.
01:22:26Now, you.
01:22:29I've been curious what's in this one since it was dropped off.
01:22:32Who dropped it off?
01:22:34Your neighbor.
01:22:35He did?
01:22:36Go on, open it.
01:22:38Okay.
01:22:39Okay.
01:22:45Can you get it?
01:22:46There we go.
01:22:46Oh, that's nice.
01:22:55That's beautiful.
01:22:58Where do you want to display it?
01:23:01Um, actually, can you find a spot for it?
01:23:05I'll be right back.
01:23:07Sure.
01:23:08Hello.
01:23:17Hello.
01:23:18Merry Christmas Eve.
01:23:19Hi.
01:23:20Sorry.
01:23:20I know you're all gathered together, but can I talk to Jason?
01:23:23I'm sorry.
01:23:24Not at the moment.
01:23:25We decided we actually need more rolls and pies from the bakery, so he just left to grab some.
01:23:31Okay.
01:23:33Do you want to wait for him?
01:23:34That's okay.
01:23:35Thank you, though.
01:23:36Merry Christmas.
01:23:36Thank you, guys.
01:23:47Rebecca.
01:23:48Hi.
01:23:50Your mom told me that you were here, and I needed to talk to you.
01:23:55Is everything okay?
01:23:57Yeah, of course.
01:23:58Yes.
01:24:01It's good to see you.
01:24:04You, too.
01:24:07Thank you for the nativity.
01:24:10You're welcome.
01:24:12How did you find that set?
01:24:14Pastor Kevin, he, uh, he helped me find the family who brought it, and they pointed me in the right direction.
01:24:21I love it.
01:24:22And not just because it's beautiful, but because you gave it to me.
01:24:29I don't have anything for you, so I feel really silly standing right here.
01:24:34You don't.
01:24:36But thank you for everything.
01:24:41For all the time you gave, for putting up with me in the wreath shop, and for being the sweetest person I have ever met.
01:24:48I don't know about that.
01:24:50It was never a sacrifice.
01:24:54It wasn't.
01:24:55Of course not.
01:24:57I loved every moment I spent with you.
01:25:00Even when I was giving you pointers on sweeping.
01:25:03And even when I accused you of talking about me behind my back.
01:25:08Even then.
01:25:10Can I ask you for something?
01:25:16And you can make it a Christmas present if it'd make you feel better.
01:25:19Yes.
01:25:20Please.
01:25:20Don't let us go back to the way things were.
01:25:24I want more.
01:25:25I want more than that.
01:25:27And if friendship is all that is, I'll take it.
01:25:34Although...
01:25:35What?
01:25:36I want us to be more.
01:25:43Not to be more.
01:25:44Not to be more.
01:25:45I want it to be more.
01:25:49Just to be more.
01:25:50Merry Christmas, Rebecca.
01:26:00I hope it's a wonderful one.
01:26:03It already is.
01:26:20I hope it's a wonderful one.
