00:00What is going on down in North Carolina?
00:03If Tars-Hills football team doesn't start winning some games
00:06and the noise and all these reports surrounding the program
00:09doesn't quiet down, I firmly believe that they're going to have to cut bait
00:13or cut ties with Bill Belichick.
00:15Now, I was one of the people who thought that hiring Bill
00:18was going to bring immediate results and success,
00:21but after negative report, after negative report,
00:24and then blowout loss after loss,
00:27I think that Bill may have bit off a little bit more than he could chew with this job.
00:31The latest negative news coming out of Chapel Hill is from Andrew Jones of 247 Sports
00:36who reported that potential exit strategy discussants took place at North Carolina on Tuesday.
00:44So the schools reportedly had preliminary conversations
00:47about firing the legendary football coach,
00:50and we're only five games into the new era,
00:52which has included the constant presence of his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordan Hudson.
00:58Now, he does have a massive $20 million buyout,
01:01but college football journalist Ali Connolly reported that Belichick
01:06has discussed buyout options with North Carolina's hierarchy,
01:10and he has signaled a willingness to trigger his own $1 million buyout
01:14if he can find a soft landing with another team or in media.
01:18But here's the kicker, alleged rules violations could also help the program
01:24either eliminate or reduce the buyout down from that number as well.
01:28Connolly added that Belichick has reportedly been weird and distant with his staff
01:33and that some coaches were unable to get a hold of him during the team's bye week.
01:38Earlier this week, Tar Heels cornerback coach Armond Hawkins
01:42was suspended for allegedly giving extra benefits to players,
01:45such as sideline passes to family members.
01:48And last month, a lawsuit alleged that the UNC board hired Belichick illegally.
01:55Now, look, y'all, the noise, the reports, the girlfriend,
01:59all of that gets looked past if you're winning games,
02:01if he wins football games,
02:04because there are college football coaches out there
02:07who came with or come with more baggage or noise than Bill Belichick,
02:12but those guys are winning football games.
02:14UNC is 2-3, and those two wins come from scrub teams, no disrespect.
02:20Now, I thought Bill Belichick taking over the program
02:22and running it like an NFL pipeline was going to be the blueprint
02:26or the future of college football.
02:29The landscape has changed.
02:31So I thought when UNC hired Bill,
02:33they were the ones that were going to do something new and innovative,
02:37and he was going to create some sort of football academy in Chapel Hill
02:40and get those kids ready to be pros.
02:43I was wrong.
02:44He's 73, and it sounds like he's outdated with his approach.
02:48The Tar Heels are back in action October 17th against Cal.
