00:00The fallout from the NBA's two major betting scandals that were made public on Thursday are

00:04going to change how professional sports leagues regulate sports gambling and in my opinion how

00:10and if fans are going to even continue to bet. So so far there's been two parts to the scandal

00:16the insider information and game manipulation in the NBA and the rigged poker games and organized

00:23crime links but more news names and accusations have been released on Friday so let's recap

00:29what we know so far and then I'm going to update you guys on what we recently have learned so as

00:36you've already heard on Thursday several individuals were indicted including current and former NBA

00:42players and and people with alleged connections to the mafia former Hornets now a heat guard

00:48Terry Rozier was arrested and is accused of using non-public information like when he was going to

00:54exit a game early so prop bets could be placed accordingly. Former Cavs guard friend and shooting

01:01coach LeBron James Damon Jones has been charged in both the sports betting scheme and a separate rigged

01:08poker scheme and Trailblazers head coach and NBA Hall of Famer Chauncey Billups is charged in his

01:14connection with a massive illegal poker game scheme backed by the mafia families such as the Gambino the

01:21Bonanno and the Genovese crime family where high-tech cheating methods like x-ray tables and even contact

01:28lenses to read marked cards were used. As of right now 34 plus people have been arrested across 11 US states

01:36and these investigations for their involvement in a sports betting scheme that targeted at least seven NBA

01:43games between February of 2023 and March of 2024 and for a poker scheme that allegedly cheated at

01:51least seven million dollars from its victims but it doesn't end there y'all now today Friday we've learned

01:58that former NBA star Kevin Garnett was among the former athletes who took part in a 2019 private poker

02:05game tied to individuals indicted in the DOJ's operation royal flush and according to the feds

02:13a ritzy New York City townhouse that Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott owned was being leveraged by the

02:19mafia and NBA stars to run illegal rig poker games you can't separate the poker game scandals from players

02:27giving out inside information because it really doesn't matter if it's on or off the court because

02:33fans feel like the product or even the players are tainted or compromised who wants to bet on that

02:39people already think the leagues are rigged in and are trying to control a game or seasons outcome as it is just

02:47wait until there's another questionable call in a pivotal moment of a big game

02:51I think these scandals are going to be a game changer for basketball for sports betting and the perception of

02:58integrity and professional sports the NBA already had or has a perception problem of players just not caring or not

03:07competing because of load management and terrible effort in the all-star game now oh that integrity is going to

03:14continue to be questioned because its players have been involved in betting scandal after scandal and it's going to be

03:22hard to rebound from this one no pun intended but regulators sports books and leagues are all going to have to face pressure now to

03:31tighten oversight transparency and possibly restrict certain type of bets especially the prop bets this

03:39is far from over expect more arrests deeper probes into other leagues and betting markets and when the breaking
