The episode shifts focus from Eren’s apparent death to Mikasa Ackerman’s past and her current actions during the battle of Trost.

In the present timeline, Mikasa is leading her squad in defending Trost from invading Titans. She is calm, efficient, and deadly — showcasing why she’s considered the most talented soldier among the new recruits. However, when word spreads about the disastrous losses and Eren’s squad going silent, she begins to sense something is wrong.

The story then flashes back to Mikasa’s childhood, revealing the horrifying origins of her strength and resolve. As a young girl, her parents were murdered by human traffickers who intended to sell her. A young Eren Yeager, along with his father, finds the scene; Eren kills two of the kidnappers and helps Mikasa fight back against the third. This traumatic event awakens something inside her — the will to fight for life and never be powerless again.

Back in the present, Mikasa channels that same determination as she continues to fight, but when she learns about Eren’s death, her composure begins to crack. Despite her despair, she refuses to give up and continues slaying Titans relentlessly, embodying her survival instinct and Eren’s ideals.
