⚔️ Episode Overview

The story begins in a peaceful walled city where humanity has lived in safety for over a century, hidden behind massive walls that protect them from terrifying giants known as Titans. But that peace is brutally shattered in this powerful first episode.

Young Eren Yeager, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert dream of seeing the world beyond the walls — a dream everyone else calls foolish. Eren’s fiery determination to escape the cage contrasts with the calm life inside the walls, setting the tone for his rebellious spirit.

That fragile peace is destroyed when the Colossal Titan—a towering, skinless giant over 60 meters tall—suddenly appears and kicks a hole through Wall Maria, allowing smaller Titans to invade the city of Shiganshina. Chaos erupts as soldiers fight desperately and civilians flee in terror.

In one of the most shocking scenes of the episode (and anime history), Eren witnesses the horrifying death of his mother, Carla Yeager, devoured by a Titan right before his eyes. This moment becomes the spark that ignites Eren’s vow:

“I’ll kill them all… every last one of them!”
