00:00But if things ended today, do you have a good feeling who's actually going to be in and who's going to be out?
00:04I do. I mean, I mean, I still think when you look at the top three teams for me, it's Ohio State, Bama and Georgia.
00:13That's going to potentially shock people because Georgia has one loss, but it's the top ranked Alabama.
00:19Alabama lost to Florida State. I get that.
00:21But we're talking right here in week nine, which just from watching football.
00:26And which team do you feel if the playoff started today, what would be the top three teams?
00:32And there's no doubting Ohio State being the most complete team in the country.
00:36Again, things do change once we get to the college football playoff, right?
00:39Like you're going to have tough teams play good other tough teams and things work themselves out.
00:44Don't get me wrong. But if we're looking at it today, like the team that's supposed to win the national championship,
00:48it doesn't feel like a cop out, Joe.
00:50It just feels like Ohio State is head and shoulders above because if their offense doesn't work,
00:54like they can pitch a shutout on defense or that good.
00:58Yeah. No, I mean, again, the Ohio State's defense led by their new coordinator, Matt Patricia,
01:03has done a fantastic job. Caleb Downs and that secondary are very difficult to attack over the top.
01:09They've shut down multiple teams in the conference, shut down Texas.
01:13That was really an eye opener for a lot of people in the matchup.
01:17And I think if they played any one of these offenses, Ty Simpson or even Gunnar Stockton that are as hot as the pistol in the conference right now in the SEC
01:26would struggle potentially against that defense.
01:29So that's where we look at it right now.
01:32But again, when you see the other teams potentially that are in there, Georgia Tech is right now undefeated.
01:38They win again today and they're playing Syracuse, Donnie.
01:41That game's not going to be easy, potentially let down.
01:44But Georgia Tech can run the table with a dynamic quarterback as well in the Haynes King.
01:49There are legitimately about 15 to 25 teams that can make the college football playoff at this particular point.
01:56Yeah, bring up Lisey's list right there as we go down that and take a look at Ohio State, the favorite there.
02:00Bama, Georgia, A&M, Indiana, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Ole Miss, Vandy, Miami, BYU, and Oklahoma.
02:06If I do see that list right there right now, because we're not listing it in effect as like that's how, you know,
02:10the divisions are going to break down or the conference is going to break down.
02:12That's just like more of a power ranking.
02:14Exactly, more of a power ranking system.
02:16Obviously, we know who the top of the list is, right?
02:17Ohio State, Bama, and Georgia that you have listed.
02:20Give me a team down that list that you have rated.
02:23You know what?
02:23No fluke here.
02:24I think this team has a legitimate chance to make a college football championship appearance or win the college football championship.
02:31I think my number 10 was Oklahoma, if I'm not mistaken.
02:34I don't think they can get in though, Joe.
02:36I'm with you.
02:37I listed them on my list right down the bottom, the same as you.
02:40Right.
02:40But like now that I'm just talking over like what they have to actually go through to get to a playoff itself, it's not their fault.
02:48No.
02:48I don't think they make it.
02:49But again, they only have one loss.
02:52They win today, right?
02:53They can afford another loss down the stretch.
02:56And here's the thing.
02:57So they play LSU.
02:59They got blasted by LSU in Baton Rouge.
03:01LSU loses today.
03:03They might not have a coach.
03:04And it's in Norman.
03:06As long as you look at the games in Norman, they have as good a shot to win against any top 10 opponent.
03:14So again, when they're on the road, that's where it potentially could be a head scratcher and a toss-up.
03:19But as long as they have Matier and he's healthy and that defense comes to play, I'll take a shot with Oklahoma.
03:24And nobody thought they would be here at this particular point.
03:28They got one loss right now.
03:29And I'll tell you what would have been interesting if Matier never gets injured and he's completely healthy and rolling in that Texas game.
03:33Almost like a Texas bailout that they got there.
03:36You also take a look at some of those other teams on the list.
03:38And we both have Ole Miss in there listed at minus 104 to make the playoff.
03:41And again, this is a linchpin.
03:42And we're not talking about this later on today.
03:44Like, oh, this is what happens.
03:45Like, I'm expecting Ole Miss to go in and play good football.
03:47But also, if Ole Miss loses, you have the extra pressure rising out there.
03:51Like, are you going to be our coach at the end of the year?
03:53Can we roll with you?
03:54Are the players going to buy in?
03:55It feels like they have to win to keep Lane and Ole Miss.
03:59And that makes a difference here.
04:00Georgia Tech does appear in both of our lists here, Joe, which I do find fascinating here because I just like the way they play.
04:07But understand this, people.
04:09The power rankings of we think we're going to get to the college football playoff.
04:12They play in the ACC.
04:14That's the advantage.
04:14Oh, Donnie, they're not as good as Oklahoma or Ole Miss.
04:16We understand that.
04:17But if you're Oklahoma or Ole Miss and you don't make the college football playoff, the point is who do we think is making the college football playoff?
04:23Yeah, so Georgia Tech, again, I mentioned they're 16-and-a-half-point favorites against Syracuse today.
04:28Multiple players out, including their center.
04:31I like Syracuse to cover that 16-and-a-half-point number today.
04:34But, again, they go to 8-0.
04:36They're undefeated in the conference.
04:38But, again, that's another conference that we haven't really talked about.
04:42Like the SEC, SMU is undefeated.
04:44You got Louisville that knocked off Miami.
04:47Miami has one loss.
04:48There's multiple teams that potentially can make a run for an ACC championship.
04:54So their backs are still against the wall.
04:56Like Georgia Tech is not a shoo-in right now just because they're undefeated because they still have to play Georgia at the end of the year as well.
05:04Even though it's at a conference, that can knock them out of the playoff.
