00:00The Covenant believe that what they call the Silent Cartographer is somewhere under this island.
00:13The Cartographer is a map room that will lead us to Halo's control center.
00:30We're close to the LZ! It's gonna be hot! Yes, that's a cut-out swing!
01:00We gotta cover the Buffy boy!
01:02We gotta cover the Buffy boy!
01:24Power's mine!
01:26I'll take care of them!
01:56Coward!
02:02Area secure.
02:04Affirmative. Echo 419 inbound.
02:08Somebody order a Warthog.
02:10Hey, Ed didn't know you made house calls, Fohammer.
02:14You know our motto. We deliver.
02:27Let's go find the map room. That will show us the location of Halo's control center.
02:34I've been able to pinpoint the main facility by cross-referencing Covenant survey data and religious texts.
02:39We would like. It's on this island. I've marked the entrance with a nav point.
02:43I've marked the nav plate.
03:14Keep it up! I think they all ran away.
03:21There. In the cliff wall.
03:23I'll let the silent cartographer somewhere inside that facility.
03:27They're already inside.
03:29We have to get in there and stop them before they learn the location of the control center.
03:43What's this going to be doing for you?
03:45What's this going to be doing for you?
03:46Focusing fire on me.
03:51Focusing fire on me.
03:52They're Poestershire.
03:54I'll take fire on me!
04:09The covenant are putting up a real fight.
04:12The cartographer must be here.
04:15My analysis indicates that the map room should be at the bottom floor of this facility.
04:19Let's keep going inside.
04:22Don't let them lock the doors.
04:24Don't let them lock the doors.
04:34Interesting.
04:35I underestimated the covenant's understanding of Halo's subsystems.
04:39We need to find the security override to get this door open.
04:43Cortana to keys.
04:45Go ahead, Cortana.
04:47Have you found the control center?
04:50Negative, Captain.
04:51The covenant have impeded our progress.
04:53We can't proceed unless we can disable this installation's security system.
04:58Understood. We're still en route to the objective.
05:00I may be out of contact when we get there.
05:03Here are your orders.
05:04I want you to use any means necessary to force your way into the facility and find Halo's control center.
05:12Good luck, people.
05:14Keys out.
05:15Let's move down the beach.
05:16Keep an eye out for any unusual structures that could house the security system.

06:14Let's get it going, Marine!
06:35Now get down!
06:45More!
06:46Is that all you've got?
06:48No!
07:17The area is secure!

09:10That should open the door that leads into the main shaft!
09:15We need to go to the main facility!
09:17Let's head back down the beach!
09:19Mayday!
09:20Mayday!
09:21Mayday!

09:25Understood!
09:26Understood!
09:27We're on our way!
09:28Chief!
09:29Bravo-22 was bringing us some heavy weapons!
09:31After I saw we were up against hunters, I thought you could use them!
10:01Let's keep trying to
10:29Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!
10:59Let's go.
11:29Let's go.
11:59Let's go.
12:29Let's go.
12:59Let's go.
13:00Let's go.
13:01According to the data in their networks, the ring has some kind of deep religious significance.
13:05They call it Halo.
13:07They believe that Halo is some kind of weapon.
13:10What sort of weapon is it?
13:12One with unimaginable power.
13:14Let's go.
13:15Let's go.
13:19Let's go.
13:20Let's go.
13:21Let's go.
13:22Let's go.

14:02Lock and load for the Kinro.
14:04Let's go.
14:05Let's go.
14:06Give them hell, Chief.
14:17I can't stop this!
14:47Halo Campaign Evolved is the next project coming out of Halo Studios.
14:57It is the ultimate Halo CE Campaign remake.
15:01It is coming to Xbox, PC, and for the first time, PlayStation.
15:05It'll be arriving next year.
15:07To talk more about it, we've got Dan, Max, and Greg from the development team.
15:11Guys, let's get into this.
15:12Why is this the right game for right now?
15:14We did this work on Halo Anniversary.
15:16I felt like there were certain things that were left unsaid.
15:19There were certain things that we weren't able to achieve at that time.
15:21There were certain things we weren't able to do.
15:22It's a great time to revisit Combat Evolved for new players, for established Halo players,
15:28and maybe even for old friends playing on different hardware today
15:31to allow them to play together and enjoy the franchise together again.
15:35Going back to the Halo ring again for the first time.
15:37For the first time is really important.
15:38And for them to be surprised by new content and feel excited again about exploring the ring world.
15:43For new players, this is the right time for you to jump in.
15:46Think of this as your introduction into this huge franchise we've been building for the past 25 years.
15:52I'm curious how you're going to focus on capturing the essence of the original,
15:58knowing that you need to evolve to kind of move the experience forward.
16:01Yeah, from design, we don't take that lightly at all.
16:03Whenever we make a change, the number one thing was to be true to the original game.
16:07For every one of those topics that comes up, there's someone who is incredibly passionate on the other side,
16:12saying, like, that is sacred. We do not move that crate.
16:15It's really about looking across, you know, what we've learned over the years,
16:18what technology we've built, and how we can tie that back into this experience.
16:22So in this game, up to four people can play the campaign together,
16:25regardless of which platform they're on.
16:27And then, kicking it old school, we can play two-player co-op on consoles,
16:31on the couch together, just like we did back in the original.
16:34What do you have to do differently to account now for four people running around?
16:39Four different co-op counts. We will make some of the spaces larger.
16:42We also want to make sure we're authentic to the encounters themselves.
16:45So it's a balancing act between that difficulty tuning
16:48and, you know, making those encounters the right size for the right space.
16:52I understand that we've done some special tune-up works to the beloved Warthog.
16:57We have. There's a new seat.
16:59What I like to call the golf cart seat, or the bumper seat.
17:01This is on the back of the Warthog, so now you can bring everyone with.
17:05Mind if I join you?
17:06Let's talk a little bit about one of my favorite aspects of the Halo franchise.
17:10What is a skull? What's cool about it? What does it do?
17:13A skull is a gameplay modifier, generally mean-spirited.
17:17It makes the game more challenging for the player.
17:19The combination of pairing of these different skulls,
17:23and how that's going to create that new gameplay experience.
17:26Huge amount of replay options for folks.
17:28I love the replayability that skulls bring to a campaign.
17:31It's just there's almost endless variety.
17:34We have dozens of skulls this time.
17:36The most that we've ever had in a Halo game.
17:38Are you a lasso guy?
17:39I think you yourself told me that you don't think anyone would ever be able to complete this game
17:42with Legendary All Skulls On?
17:44I don't think so. I mean, there's a lot.
17:47And so if you can do a true Legendary All Skulls On run, let us know.
17:52Because I'd love to see it. I think that'd be really hard.
17:55If there's one thing that this community has shown us is do not underestimate them,
17:59and they will find a way.
18:02So Halo's always been known for its sandbox. How has this evolved?
18:06We made sure that anything we included isn't going to drastically change the way the game plays,
18:10to change the sandbox in a drastic way,
18:12but there's some really fun kind of additions,
18:14and that's across, you know, enemies, weapons, vehicles,
18:17things that in the original CE weren't able to do before that you now can.
18:20You finally kill the Elite with the sword.
18:22That weapon hits the floor, and you can pick that up and just,
18:24you know, kind of really take it to the enemy.
18:27The sound is funny.
18:32All these weapons, by the way, have been painstakingly remodeled,
18:35rebuilt, higher fidelity.
18:37How do all these things kind of come to life?
18:39That comes across through the way they look, the way they sound,
18:43the effects, the actual panels on the weapons themselves, the ammo counters.
18:48With Unreal, the fully dynamic lighting within Lumen allows us to get those effects, right?
18:52That rich plasma lighting up and brightening the environment.
18:56Of course, one of the hallmark elements of Halo's CE
18:59is what becomes kind of a three-way battle with the introduction of the Flood.
19:03There was quite a bit of development between Halo CE and 3
19:06to kind of how the Flood behaved and just how they interacted with the player.
19:09So we've pulled a lot of those Flood behaviors into this game.
19:13And I would say this is a learning specifically from CE to Anniversary,
19:16which is just kind of that mood, the atmosphere, the tension, the horror,
19:20and really delivering on that from the way that we staged the encounters
19:23and the setup and how we reveal the Flood.
19:26In Halo Legacy, there were some pure-form units.
19:29We've pulled in a familiar friend, familiar fiend, if you will, to challenge the player.
19:36Talk to me just a little bit about how we're approaching the narrative aspects
19:40to bringing it up to the same level as the rest of this game.
19:43We want to tell an authentic story and we want to level up the cinematics from the source.
19:50As we were building this out, we didn't just kind of put a new coat of paint over the original cinematics, right?
19:55We ended up revisiting exactly how they were blocked out, how they were sequenced, how they were put together.
20:00And we've done that across the board.
20:01We have access to original source assets, original source code, and access to the original storyboards.
20:06We are remastering, remixing the music to go along with these cinematics.
20:10We also had the core principal cast come in and re-record all the lines.
20:14How much firepower would you need to crack one of the engine shields?
20:17This really provides a degree of fidelity that we weren't able to do for Halo Anniversary.
20:20Now would be a very good time to leave.
20:24I'm super excited that this game will include three brand new bonus missions.
20:29Tell me a little bit about that.
20:31It was really important that we preserve the original story as it is.
20:34So these missions specifically are meant to be a prequel setup for, you know, the main course.
20:39These new missions are going to offer some new opportunities for character interactions maybe between, you know, Chief and Johnson.
20:45We've got some new mechanics, maybe some AI behaviors, things that haven't been done before in Halo CU.
20:51I think we're just getting started.
20:56So where are we right now at this stage in development?
20:58What can you share with us?
20:59In the past few weeks we've been able to start engaging and sending builds out to some of our community members.
21:03We can now see so many of the elements of the level really coming together.
21:09There's a point in every game's life cycle where it kind of just comes online.
21:13Seeing really high fidelity versions of cinematics, elements of the sandbox and encounter tweaks and the lighting.
21:19You go to someone's desk and give feedback live on an experience and to me that's like a really exciting time in game development.
21:25The ultimate love letter to the game that started it all.
21:28I would call upon our entire Halo community to welcome with open arms this next generation of players.
21:34I'm excited to just relive these experiences again for the first time.
21:39Do you want to see your lights on?
21:41Don't talk to me once more.
21:42You're part of the same.
21:43I don't know what to do.
21:44I'm excited to be here today.
21:46I hope you've seen our life cycle in the last couple of years.
21:47I hope you've met the most of the next few years.
21:49And we'll see you next time.
21:50I'm excited to meet every year.
21:51I'll visit .
21:52I love you.
