00:23If we don't stop before this temperature goes even higher, we won't be here for four more months.
00:31Good afternoon everybody, I'm David Patterson, and all of you should be happy that you're not.
00:39This is a wonderful city, the greatest city in this country, the greatest city in the world, and also the most diverse city.
00:50We are Asian, Black, Hispanic, and White. We are upper middle class and social service recipients.
01:01We are tenants, operators, landlords, and even the homeless. We send our children to public or private schools.
01:09But despite the differences that are inherent in our being, we can work together and perform tasks that have never been performed before, if we stand together.
01:23We stand together. And this afternoon, I'm here to stand for someone who has already run this city as mayor for nearly four years,
01:35and has made huge changes over the past administrations, going back probably to the Bloomberg administration,
01:42for the number of achievements that this mayor has been able to accomplish in his time.
01:51He is an individual who is dynamic, articulate, perceptive, courageous, and outspoken, and he's used all those skills to bring the city to where it stands right now.
02:05Like everyone in life, and certainly most people in politics, there have been some pitfalls. There have been some times when perhaps he might have done things a little differently.
02:16But the mark of an individual who really deserves the position that he wants to continue after election day this fall is that they recognize that and that they are able to make the necessary changes to even improve their work beyond where it already has been.
02:37Those, I think, those are the goals of a mayor, those are the principles, and Mayor Adams has never strayed from them.
02:46Well, I thought he was the best candidate that ran in the primary, and I thought that he has served the city with distinction for 11 years, and I have no doubt that he would serve the city well in four years as mayor.
03:01But since that time, he was defeated in the primary by an upset that has ramifications that I think people are still trying to understand.
03:14And I don't think that when that challenge was coming in the last weeks that he was addressing it and was as present as I thought he should have been during the campaign.
03:27He is still a candidate in this race, but my choice is Eric Adams.
03:32With Mayor Adams, his goals are pretty obvious. He talks about them every day.
03:42So you can keep a scorecard on what he gets done and what he hasn't gotten done, and the scorecard is incredible.
03:49Now, again, I'm not trying to say that the governor wouldn't know how to manage the state, the city. He managed the state.
03:59But I think at this particular time, in this moment, where so many issues are occurring, so many difficulties are coming to this state that don't even start in this state or in this city, the person we need to protect us is Mayor Aradette.
04:15Mayor Aradette.
04:16And how about Mondani? Do you like him? Why do you like him better than Mondani?
04:20Why do I like him better than Mondani?
04:23It would kind of be like comparing a lit match to a forest fire.
04:34Listen, Mr. Mondani has proposed some very interesting concepts and ideas.
04:46The problem is that he can't really solve them unless he has the resources, and he never really discusses where he's going to get the resources from.
04:56Now, just a few days ago, the mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, who ran on the same platform that Mr. Mondani did, he released a report about the finances in Chicago, Illinois.
05:11They've run out of money for law enforcement. They have run out of money to establish housing for the poor.
05:21They have run out of money to educate all the children in the city.
05:25And what I will say is I'm not going to criticize that mayor as much as I'm going to congratulate him, because when he realized it wasn't working, he put it all out there and challenged his city council and his legislature to help him put it back together again.
