00:00New York Mayor Eric Adams did the right thing, the necessary thing, the painful thing, the strong thing on Sunday.
00:09He announced he's suspending his campaign for mayor.
00:13He was reading the writing on the walls.
00:16It's not going to happen.
00:18His reputation has been slammed by hostile prosecutions by the Biden administration,
00:23by a public upset about how hard it's been to get out of COVID and get going again,
00:29by, frankly, the migrant crisis that Biden dumped on him.
00:34Plus, the corruption allegations gave the city campaign finance board the excuse to not let him get his matching funds,
00:43hamstringing his efforts to run again.
00:46The campaign finance board is unelected, unaccountable, and, frankly, tyrannical.
00:51It keeps messing in our elections decisively, and something has to happen about that.
00:56But Adams, he's now liberated.
00:58He can tell the truth without concern of any political impact about the dangers that Zoran Mamdami poses to the city.
01:07The Democratic Socialist is a menace to New York, would certainly undo every good thing Adams did,
01:14further undo all the good things that Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg did,
01:18might even undo whatever good stuff Bill de Blasio did.
01:22He's awful.
01:23Adams made a huge difference on housing.
01:25He made a huge difference on reading instruction, which will be serving New York's kids for generations.
01:32He got crime turned around at last.
01:35We've now undone the COVID crime spike and continuing to make further progress.
01:39But it's hard, thanks to the state's laws and the city council's laws that handcuff the police and empower let-em-loose prosecutors and judges.
01:50What we need is a mayor who will fight to keep the crime decline going.
01:55Mamdami is going to put it on overdrive by further hamstringing the cops,
01:59further taking refuge in silly social programs to fight crime and doing much worse on taxes, the economy, housing, everything.
02:09Adams is now free to keep speaking the full truth, warning, as he did in his withdrawal announcement,
02:14of the insidious forces out to use local government to advance divisive agendas with little regard for how it hurts everyday New Yorkers.
02:23He's urging New Yorkers to choose leaders not by what they promised, but by what they have delivered.
02:35Mamdami's delivered nothing.
02:37He will deliver nothing except chaos, as Adams said.
02:40He has no idea how to run the city.
02:43He only knows what his left-wing advisors suggest.
02:47He's going to open up us to more left-wing madness.
02:50He must be stopped, and Adams is going to do what he can to stop him,
02:55and that's a great final service for this mayor to the people of New York.
