00:00And the Oscar goes to Brendan Fraser
00:13As a child, Brendan Fraser developed an interest in acting after seeing a West End performance of the musical Oliver
00:30So this is what the multiverse looks like
00:52Oh my goodness
00:55I thank the Academy for this honor and for our Studio A24 for making such a bold film
01:02And I'm grateful to Darren Aronofsky for throwing me a creative lifeline and hauling me aboard the good ship The Whale
01:12That was written by Samuel D. Hunter, who is our lighthouse
01:18Gentlemen, you laid your whale-sized hearts bare so that we could see into your souls like no one else could do
01:33And I'm honored to be named alongside you in this category
01:36I want to tell you that only whales can swim at the depth of the talent of Hong Chao
01:54And I started in this business 30 years ago
02:01And they didn't come easily to me
02:05But there was a facility that I didn't appreciate at the time
02:11Until it stopped
02:13And I just want to say thank you for this acknowledgement
02:18Because it couldn't be done without my cast
02:23It's been like I've been on a diving expedition on the bottom of the ocean
02:28And the air on the line to the surface is on a launch
02:32Being watched over by some people in my life
02:35Like my sons Holden and Leland and Griffin
02:39I love you, Griffey
02:41My manager, Joanne Colonna
02:43Jennifer Plant
02:45And my best first mate, Jeannie
02:48Thank you again
02:51Each one and all
02:53I'm so grateful to you
02:54Good night
03:02And I'm so grateful to you
03:05Thank you
03:07Thank you
03:08Thank you
03:09Thank you
03:10Thank you
