00:00I mean a daunting process for me because I knew that I was coming back and leading the show with Nicola
00:05but I was really excited for it and felt ready you know I'd had the previous seasons leading up so
00:11yeah a really exciting moment and I'm excited to finally share it with everyone.
00:15So at the end of season two he has sort of a few too many drinks with the lads of the ton
00:22and says a few too many words about Penelope that he instantly regrets.
00:26She overhears him and then he goes off on his travels and they don't see each other or hear from each other for the whole summer.
00:34So he comes back and wants to kind of rekindle that friendship and try and resolve issues from the end of last season.
00:42They reconnect, they sort everything out and then it becomes this crazy journey of trying to find their way to each other.
00:51It really felt like it was in the writing this season and Jess had just brilliantly, I've just seen her actually, she's over there.
00:57She's just brilliantly crafted this, the first few episodes of how they navigate their way through friendship into just like this slight romantic element between them.
01:08There's obviously been a connection between them for years and it's kind of about holding that back until we got to our season.
01:13And then now it's just beautiful to be able to play this love story out that I feel like a lot of people resonate with.
01:18You know, a lot of people really see themselves in the friends to lovers trope.
01:21So yeah, it's special.
01:22Initially I was really excited.
01:24It's something that I've always wanted to do.
01:26Like, you know, how often do you get the opportunity to lead a show on this scale?
01:30So it was something that really excited me and at the same time it felt like a challenge.
01:36So I was ready to like take it on and watch our previous leads and the way they navigated themselves through the journey and then just try and replicate that on my own version.
01:44I loved the drastic change in him this season. It feels like I got to play a new character.
01:49And, you know, sitting in a role for like five years, it's like a gift to be able to develop that season after season after season and come back with like a fresh energy.
01:59And he's growing up like it's all about coming in, like becoming an adult.
02:03And that was really fun to explore, like to dive into a character and discover what the differences are and how they grow up and how they and their environment.
02:10So, yeah, I loved that challenge. It was really fun.
02:13And then just being able to like celebrate this story with Nick.
02:16Like we've worked so closely with really good friends to be able to like dive into that this season and like, you know, give the give the two a little showcase that you wouldn't normally see as romantic leads.
02:26Like they're kind of like the slightly awkward ones that stand at the side of the ball and gossip.
02:30So it was nice for them to have their moment in the spotlight.
