00:00and uh limit the potential even a very strong piece uh like bishop here we are white has
00:08two pawns black has a bishop
00:12what to expect uh of course white will try to advance a pawn to promote it but you can hardly
00:21imagine that bishop that moves from one side of the board to another will not be able to stop this
00:28pawn let's try a5 it seems black doesn't have many options he has to make sure the bishop appears on
00:38a7 g1 diagonal on time so bishop f8 looks like an only move now if we move a6 now then bishop is
00:46here and it's a draw bishop protects a7 square keeps this pawn and black king keeps this pawn
00:54but we can try to limit bishop's options by playing king d5 controlling c5 square and
01:08renewing the threat a6 a6 a7 a but black bishop goes back so what did we achieve
01:16how can we improve our position because bishop will be always trying to out maneuver white's king by
01:23uh threatening to appear on this key diagonal a7 g1 but we have one more pawn so what can we do with
01:31this pawn deflection we can do something okay sacrificing the pawn but to deflect the bishop to
01:40limit its ability to move from one diagonal to another diagonal that's very important for bishop to be able
01:47to return to f8 so what if we play g5 check now if king takes then king closes the diagonal and then after a6
01:58our pawn will be promoted
