“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfil. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-19

00:00We're looking at the book of Jeremiah chapter 30 and 31.
00:04In chapter 30 we have the time of Jacob's trouble,
00:08the restoration of the Jewish people to the land through a time of trouble.
00:12We have a prophecy that this is going to take place in the latter days, in the last days,
00:18and that in this time of trouble God's going to be correcting something which Israel's got wrong.
00:22And I suggested when we looked at the study that actually what God's going to be correcting
00:26is the understanding of the Messiah.
00:28Yeah, that's the main thing that he wants to put right.
00:31And when we looked at chapter 31, we see it has a lot about restoration,
00:37has a lot about God's love.
00:38It says, verse 3, I've loved you with an everlasting love,
00:42therefore with loving kindness I've drawn you.
00:45It speaks about Israel being rebuilt,
00:47and it goes on to speak about the restoration from the north, the south, the east and the west.
00:53And in verse 10 it says,
00:54Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, declare it in the hours afar off,
00:56and say, he who scattered Israel will gather him and keep him as a shepherd does his flock.
01:01It's a prophecy of gathering Jewish people back to the land,
01:04and this should be declared in the hours afar off.
01:07So I mentioned that we're one of the hours afar off as far as the prophet is concerned,
01:11and that we should note, take note, when you see the Jewish people back in the land,
01:14it's a sign of something greater happening.
01:17But he's not just interested in getting them back to the land,
01:19he's interested in getting them back to himself.
01:21If you look through the rest of this passage, it talks about a restoration to the land,
01:28but it also speaks about mourning and weeping.
01:30It speaks about a voice heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping,
01:34Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children because they are no more.
01:40And that verse, of course, quoted in Matthew's Gospel about the slaughter of the innocents at the time of Herod,
01:45but also has an application to the pain of Jewish mothers seeing their children going to the war and not coming back.
01:55And I noticed that in the talk which Netanyahu gave actually at the Knesset,
02:00he mentioned this passage and he spoke about the return.
02:02He said in verse 16, it says,
02:07they shall come back from the land of the enemy.
02:09And in one sense you've seen,
02:12I'm coming back from the land of the enemy and rejoicing in that situation.
02:17But also the pain in the mourning and the weeping.
02:20And it goes on to speak about a repentance.
02:24Verse 19, it speaks about being chastised in verse 18.
02:28Verse 19, it speaks about,
02:29I turned, after my returning I repented.
02:33I was ashamed, yes, even humiliated.
02:36I bore the reproach of my youth.
02:37And there are a lot of things Israel has to repent for.
02:42And I think even Janie hinted at it.
02:45The people who were taken hostage,
02:47many of them were at a Nova dance festival,
02:51which was dancing under a Buddha to techno music,
02:56which is kind of druggie stuff,
02:58in the Gaza there,
02:59and they were taken into captivity.
03:01Now, that doesn't in any way justify what happened,
03:03but it's a sign that Israel is not in the right place.
03:08And that God allows these disasters to happen because they're not in the right place.
03:11And he's calling them back to repent and to turn to himself.
03:15And in verse 21, it says,
03:16Make signposts, set up landmarks.
03:21Set your heart towards the highway, the way in which you went.
03:24Turn back, O Virgin of Israel, turn back to these your cities.
03:28That passage speaks about setting up signposts
03:32and telling the Jewish people where to go.
03:35And I thought that one of the things which God has raised up people like us
03:39and this fellowship for is that we should actually be a signpost to Israel,
03:43that they should make the,
03:45give them directions on the way in which they should go to find the way to the Lord.
03:50And of course, the way to the Lord actually comes through Yeshua, the Messiah.
03:54And we should tell the Jewish people that Yeshua is the Messiah.
03:57He's the one who has come and is coming again.
03:59And he's the one who's going to bring them into the place of peace and safety.
04:02And the chapter in 31 actually comes to its climax in the verse,
04:09which is relevant to what we're saying today.
04:11Verse 31,
04:12Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord,
04:14when I make a new covenant with the house of Israel, with the house of Judah.
04:18Not according to the covenant I made with their fathers
04:20in the day that I took them by the hand
04:21to lead them out of the land of Egypt,
04:24my covenant which they broke,
04:26though I was a husband to them, says the Lord.
04:28But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
04:30after those days, says the Lord.
04:32I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts,
04:35and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
04:38No more shall every man teach his neighbor.
04:40Every man his brother, saying,
04:42Know the Lord, for they shall all know me,
04:43from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord.
04:46I will forgive their iniquity and their sin.
04:49I will remember no more.
04:51Passage about the new covenant.
04:55And Jeremiah 30 and 31 are leading up to this.
04:58They're speaking about Israel in trouble, Israel in need,
05:03and they're pointing to the answer, which is in the new covenant.
05:06Of course, the new covenant is in Yeshua the Messiah.
05:09When Jesus broke the bread and with the disciples at the Last Supper,
05:13he said, This blood is the new covenant in my blood,
05:16which is shed for many.
05:18So he's the one who brings in the new covenant.
05:21And if you look at what it says here,
05:22what is going to come in with the new covenant,
05:23it says, It's going to come in with,
05:27I will forgive their iniquity, their sin.
05:29I will remember no more.
05:30So one of the fruits of this new covenant
05:32is that we will know that our sins are forgiven.
05:34It speaks about knowing the Lord
05:36and about having his law written upon our hearts.
05:39And we can see all those things are the result
05:41of coming to know Yeshua the Messiah.
05:44Our sins are forgiven.
05:46We have his law written upon our hearts.
05:48And we come to know the Lord in a personal way.
05:50And God says, This is going to replace the former covenant.
05:55He says, The former covenant was good,
05:57given through Moses.
05:59But there was something wrong with that covenant.
06:01It wasn't actually the covenant itself.
06:03It was the ability of humans to keep that covenant.
06:06And because of sin, then we don't keep God's covenant.
06:09Therefore, God needs to send the Savior, Yeshua the Messiah,
06:12to be the one who can be the mediator
06:14between God and man to bring the knowledge of God.
06:17So that was roughly what we were saying about.
06:21So I sort of thought about this a bit more
06:23and thought, Well, how does this apply to us today
06:25as believers in Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah?
06:29Whether we're Jewish or Gentile,
06:31how do we respond?
06:32How do we relate to the Torah itself?
06:35Do we have to keep the commands of the Torah?
06:37And how does it apply to our lives today?
06:40Which is what we're going to look at tonight.
06:42And as I was looking at this,
06:43I actually found an article which I wrote,
06:45which is on the Messiah Factor website.
06:48And I've got a few copies of it,
06:50so you can have a look at it afterwards,
06:51which is going to be the basis of this talk.
06:56So, should we keep the Torah?
07:00Have a statement which Jesus made in the Sermon on the Mount,
07:04Matthew chapter 5, verse 17,
07:07where he says,
07:08So here's a statement of the Lord Jesus himself.
07:36He's saying that he didn't come to destroy the law and the prophets,
07:40he came to fulfill them.
07:43And he says,
07:43Not one jot or one tittle will by no means pass away from the law
07:46till all is fulfilled.
07:48The jot and the tittle are actually the two of the smallest signs
07:51in the Hebrew language.
07:52So he's saying that nothing is going to change from the Torah.
07:56And one of the interesting things about Christianity
07:58is that we have taken the whole of the,
08:00what we call the Tanakh, the Old Testament,
08:03put it into our Bible.
08:04Well, it's a unique thing which has happened.
08:06It's the only example of that happening in any religion in the world.
08:11So we've taken the whole faith of Israel,
08:13the Jewish people have put it into our Bible,
08:14because we believe that it is the Word of God.
08:17And not one jot or not one tittle,
08:19not one letter can be changed in it.
08:24So except the fullness of the scriptures from Genesis through to Malachi
08:30in the Hebrew scriptures and from Matthew through to Revelation in the New Testament.
08:37But what does it mean?
08:38Do we have to keep all the commandments in the Torah?
08:41And if you're interested in Jewish believers,
08:44that's a big issue with Jewish believers.
08:46Should we, having come to believe in Yeshua, the Messiah,
08:49should we keep all the commandments of the Torah?
08:52And of course, there are some Christians who say you should.
08:55Seventh-day Adventists.
08:57Seventh-day Adventists teach that although we're saved by grace,
09:00we're kept by the law.
09:03So you must keep the Old Testament dietary laws,
09:05the ceremonial laws.
09:07You must keep the Sabbath and the Ten Commandments.
09:10And most importantly, you have to pay the tithe.
09:15That's a big one, yeah.
09:17But you've got to keep, literally, the commandments,
09:20particularly Sabbath and dietary laws.
09:24And also, as Christians become interested in the Jewish roots of our faith,
09:28there are many who come to the conclusion that the answer to this question
09:30is yes, we should keep all the commandments of the Torah.
09:34There's a group called the Refiner's Fire,
09:36who I found on the Internet.
09:38They say that Gentiles are called to enter into the Malkut Elohim,
09:44the kingdom of heaven,
09:45to follow Mashiach, Messiah,
09:47and observe the Torah,
09:48saying the Torah's forever commandments pertain to every believer
09:51and are Torah-observant believers in Messiah.
09:57Those are the ones who ultimately make the Jews jealous.
10:00So if you're a Gentile Christian,
10:03you should keep all the commandments of the Torah.
10:05And by doing that, you should make the Jewish people jealous
10:07because they'll see that you are keeping the Torah,
10:10but you also believe in Yeshua,
10:11so they want Yeshua as well.
10:13So what does the New Testament teach about this?
10:17When you come to the Gospels,
10:18you find that Jesus did keep the law.
10:20He was under the law.
10:21In fact, it's interesting,
10:22if you go through the Sermon on the Mount,
10:25like one of the things Jesus says in verse 23 in chapter 5,
10:29it says,
10:29Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar
10:31and there remember that your brother has something against you,
10:34leave your gift there before the altar and go your way,
10:37first be reconciled to your brother,
10:38and then come and offer your gift.
10:41Do you bring gifts to the altar?
10:44Do you?
10:46No.
10:46We don't even have an altar.
10:48Did they bring gifts to the altar in the days of Jesus?
10:51Yes.
10:51They bring sacrifices.
10:53And Jesus is here speaking to Jewish people under the law,
10:56and he's giving a principle which they should follow.
11:00They should bring their gifts to the altar.
11:02But he's also bringing now a New Testament principle into it.
11:04He says,
11:04If you come and give your gift,
11:07and you've got someone who's got something against you,
11:09first of all be reconciled to your brother,
11:11then bring your gift to the altar,
11:13and make your peace with God.
11:16And there's a principle there which applies to us coming to the Lord.
11:20when we come to the Lord's table to eat the bread and the wine.
11:22If he's got something against us,
11:24we should actually be reconciled to them.
11:26We should seek reconciliation within the body of Messiah.
11:29So you can see that Jesus,
11:31as he was on the earth,
11:32as he was ministering before the cross,
11:35he was ministering within a Jewish setting.
11:39He preached in the synagogue.
11:40He read from the Haftorah scroll, actually, in Luke 14.
11:45And he kept the Jewish festivals.
11:46So Jesus operated under the law,
11:48but he was bringing about the New Covenant,
11:52which was going to come into being
11:53after his death and resurrection,
11:55through the birth of the church.
12:00So,
12:01he kept the law,
12:03the New Testament.
12:05There are parts which he didn't keep.
12:06And the teachings of the Pharisees and the scribes in his day
12:11were that
12:12when Jewish people came back from Babylon,
12:17they had to put a fence around the law
12:20so they would stop breaking the law inadvertently.
12:23What that meant was that they added laws to the laws.
12:26And there were people with the scribes
12:29who said that we may break the commandments inadvertently.
12:31So in order to stop breaking the commandments inadvertently,
12:34we'll add certain laws.
12:35So, for example, it says in the Torah,
12:38you've got to keep the Sabbath.
12:41Okay, so you mustn't work on the Sabbath.
12:44So then you've got to define what work is.
12:47So in order to define what work is,
12:49you have to add rules to the rules
12:50in order which,
12:51so you won't break the laws inadvertently.
12:54And if you look at rabbinic Judaism,
12:56that's what they're doing all the time.
12:58For example, one of the things that you can't do on the Sabbath
13:00is to turn on and offer light.
13:02Because if you do that,
13:02you're making a kindling of spark,
13:04making a fire.
13:06So you have all these laws
13:07which are interpreted and added to.
13:11And according to the scribes and the Pharisees,
13:14when Moses received the law,
13:16the written law at Mount Sinai,
13:18he also received what they called the oral law,
13:20which was the additions to the commandments.
13:24So those oral laws were not written down,
13:26and they were passed down according to rabbinic Judaism
13:28from Moses to Joshua to the Sanhedrin,
13:33generation to generation.
13:34And they were preserved orally.
13:37And then they were written down
13:38after Jesus died and rose from the dead,
13:40after the beginning of the dispersion in the book,
13:42which they call the Talmud.
13:43The Talmud is not a book,
13:45it's a library of books,
13:45which contains all of these added laws.
13:48If you look at the arguments
13:49which Jesus had with the Pharisees,
13:50he's always on this issue.
13:52Didn't call them your oratory,
13:54called them the traditions of the fathers.
13:56And he didn't accept the traditions of the fathers.
13:58He said you can keep the laws of Moses,
14:00but don't add these other laws.
14:04And he said in Matthew's Gospel, chapter 15,
14:07he said the Pharisees are teaching as doctrines
14:09the commandments of men.
14:12In other words, what they're teaching
14:13is really commandments of men.
14:15They're not the teachings of which God has given.
14:18They're added commandments.
14:20He says you're not under obligation
14:21to keep any of those.
14:22You keep Moses' law,
14:24but you don't keep the commandments of men.
14:29Nevertheless,
14:30clearly when Jesus came,
14:31he was bringing something new.
14:33And it was going to result in a change
14:35in how you look at the law.
14:39John 1, 17,
14:40it says the law came by Moses,
14:42but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
14:45In other words,
14:46something new has come with Jesus.
14:47It calls it grace and truth.
14:50He's bringing you the truth about God.
14:52He's bringing you the grace,
14:53which is the message of salvation
14:55through grace,
14:56not through works,
14:57not through observing the works of the law,
14:59but through grace,
15:01through the gift of God,
15:03through faith in Jesus the Messiah.
15:06If you look through Matthew, chapter 5,
15:07in the Sermon on the Mount,
15:08he keeps saying,
15:09you've heard it was said by them of old,
15:12but I say unto you.
15:14That was he saying,
15:15I'm telling you something new now.
15:17And you find that Jesus,
15:18in the Sermon on the Mount,
15:19he reaffirms many of the commandments.
15:21He speaks about not murdering.
15:27Don't murder, don't kill.
15:29But he goes beyond just the act,
15:31and he says, don't hate.
15:33Don't be angry without a cause.
15:35Speaks about seeking reconciliation
15:37with those who have offended you,
15:39or you have offended.
15:42He says, not only don't commit adultery,
15:44but don't look at a woman with lust in your heart.
15:45So he's now looking at the attitude behind the action.
15:51So he affirms the commandments,
15:53but he says there's something else you've got to go.
15:54You've got to go a bit further than this.
15:56You've got to deal with the attitude behind it.
15:58And that's what's going to come in the New Covenant.
16:01And the Gospels go on to give commands
16:03which Jesus gave to his disciples.
16:06And it's actually these commands
16:07which Jesus gives to his disciples
16:08that we're to keep,
16:09not all of the commands of the Torah.
16:11And the book of Acts and Epistles
16:13show us how we're able to do this
16:15by being filled with the Holy Spirit,
16:17and what we should do,
16:19having a new heart and a new spirit,
16:20which shows us how to live
16:21according to the law of Christ.
16:24I'm going to go on to that a little bit later.
16:28Now if you look at the book of Hebrews,
16:31in Hebrews chapter 7,
16:34the writer says there's been a change
16:35in the order of the priesthood,
16:37with Jesus replacing the Levitical priests.
16:42And it goes on to say,
16:44the priesthood being changed of necessity,
16:47there is also a change of the law.
16:50So once Jesus had died on the cross
16:53and risen from the dead,
16:55something has happened to change
16:56in the order of the priesthood.
16:58That makes the question,
16:59what is a priest?
17:00Who is a priest?
17:03I remember once when I was teaching
17:04at a school in Toulsil
17:05and talking about God,
17:07and the boy said,
17:08hey sir, are you a priest then?
17:11So I said, no, I'm not actually a priest.
17:14I can tell you one who is,
17:15and he's the one who's going to bring you to God.
17:17Under the old covenant,
17:18the priest was the one who offered the sacrifice
17:20to mediate between the person
17:23who was offering the sacrifice and God.
17:26So the priest was a mediator.
17:29Under the new covenant,
17:30Jesus is the final priest,
17:32he's the great high priest
17:33who brings us to God.
17:34So actually we don't call our ministers priests.
17:37Roman Catholics do
17:38because they sacrifice Jesus,
17:40they think in the bread and the wine,
17:42but they're not actually doing that.
17:44That's just a hocus pocus business.
17:48So the priest
17:50has now been replaced with Jesus.
17:53And Hebrew says that
17:55where there's the replacing of the priesthood,
17:57there's a replacement of the law.
17:58So obviously Hebrews is written
18:01after the resurrection of Jesus
18:02and he's telling you something important.
18:05And interestingly, in the book of Hebrews,
18:06you have the quotation,
18:08which we've already read from the book of Jeremiah.
18:12Pretty well quoted exactly.
18:15And he speaks about a new covenant.
18:17I will be merciful to their unrighteousness,
18:21their sins and their lawless deeds
18:23I remember no more.
18:24In that he says a new covenant,
18:26he has made the first obsolete.
18:28Now what is becoming obsolete
18:30and growing old
18:31is ready to vanish away.
18:34That makes a pretty radical statement there.
18:36He says that now the
18:37former covenant with Moses is obsolete
18:39and it's ready to vanish away.
18:42There's a new covenant.
18:43That's one which really offends
18:46a lot of Jewish people,
18:48especially rabbinic Judaism.
18:51But according to this covenant,
18:52this new covenant,
18:53God's going to write his law now
18:54on the heart of the believer.
18:57He's now not going to remember
18:57their sins no more.
18:59And Jesus is the final priest
19:01of the new covenant
19:02as the old is becoming obsolete
19:04and growing old
19:05and ready to vanish away.
19:08And the new covenant is mediated
19:09through the death of Jesus on the cross,
19:11which replaces the sacrifices
19:13of the former covenant.
19:15And you have a very interesting incident
19:17which comes in the book of Acts,
19:18chapter 15.
19:20And as you see,
19:22the book of Acts,
19:22it's expanding the message
19:24of the gospel.
19:25First of all,
19:25they preach to Jews in Jerusalem,
19:28then in Judea,
19:29and then Samaria,
19:30then to the ends of the earth.
19:31And as they branch out
19:33into the Gentile world,
19:35you have many Gentiles
19:36becoming believers in Jesus.
19:38Bit of a battle, actually,
19:39if you read the book of Acts,
19:40about taking the message
19:41from the Jews to the Gentiles.
19:44Peter had to be persuaded
19:45by the Lord
19:45to go into a Gentile house
19:47and preach the gospel.
19:48And when he did,
19:49the Holy Spirit fell upon Cornelius
19:50and he recognized
19:51that God was working
19:52among the Gentiles
19:53just as he was amongst the Jews
19:55in the day of Pentecost.
19:57But interestingly,
19:58if you go from the book of Acts,
19:59chapter 2,
20:00through to chapter 8,
20:02you don't have any Gentiles
20:03coming to faith in Jesus.
20:04You do have Samaritans,
20:05you have Jews and Samaritans,
20:07but no,
20:08none of the rest.
20:09It's only after Cornelius
20:10becomes a believer
20:11then you have the work
20:13going out to the Gentiles.
20:16In the book of Acts,
20:19not just sort of
20:20communal garden Jews
20:21were becoming believers in Jesus,
20:22also Pharisees,
20:23religious Jews,
20:24became followers of Jesus.
20:26They recognized that Jesus
20:27was the Messiah.
20:30In fact,
20:30a great number of the priests
20:31became followers of Jesus,
20:32it says.
20:33But they sort of
20:34thought about this
20:35and they said,
20:36hey,
20:36these Gentiles are coming
20:37to faith in Jesus.
20:40They've accepted Jesus
20:41as the Messiah.
20:44So,
20:45now that they've become
20:46believers in Jesus,
20:47they should accept
20:48all the Torah,
20:49be circumcised,
20:50and made to keep
20:51the laws of the Torah.
20:53And the first big
20:54council and discussion
20:56in the book of Acts
20:58is relating to this subject.
20:59It's very interesting.
21:01Acts 15, verse 5,
21:03it says,
21:03some of the sect
21:03of the Pharisees
21:04who believe
21:04rose up saying,
21:06it is necessary
21:06to circumcise them
21:07and to command them
21:09to keep the law of Moses.
21:11So,
21:12here's a problem,
21:12here's a question
21:13which is being
21:13brought before them.
21:16And you have
21:16Peter and James
21:18and Paul is there as well,
21:20ready to discuss
21:21this question.
21:23And they have a discussion
21:24and Peter then says,
21:27no,
21:28points out the Gentiles
21:29have received the Holy Spirit
21:30and salvation
21:31by faith in Jesus
21:32as Saviour.
21:34And he asks,
21:35why do you test God
21:36putting a yoke
21:38on the neck of the disciples
21:39which neither our fathers
21:40nor we were able to bear
21:41but we believe
21:42that through the grace
21:43of the Lord Jesus Christ
21:44we shall be saved
21:45in the same manner
21:46as they?
21:48So,
21:48Jesus has now come
21:49bringing grace and truth
21:50as it said in John's Gospel.
21:53So,
21:53Peter says now
21:54that we don't have
21:55to circumcise Gentiles,
21:56they don't have
21:57to keep all of the Torah,
21:58they have to keep
21:59certain commandments
22:00which we're going
22:00to give to them
22:01but we are now
22:02in a new covenant
22:03and they're saved
22:05through the grace of God,
22:06through the undeserved
22:07favour of God,
22:07through faith in Jesus
22:08the Messiah.
22:10And much of the
22:11teaching in the New Testament
22:13is against this question,
22:16it's talking about
22:16this question.
22:18You've got Paul
22:18who came from
22:19a very orthodox
22:20religious Jewish background,
22:22becomes a believer
22:23in Jesus
22:23and becomes
22:25one of the main
22:25advocates for
22:26non-acceptance
22:27of keeping
22:29all the commandments
22:29of the Torah.
22:31In Romans chapter 5,
22:34Paul explains
22:36how we're justified
22:37with God
22:37by faith
22:38in Jesus Christ.
22:39God demonstrates
22:40his own love
22:41towards us
22:41in that while
22:42we were still sinners,
22:43Christ died for us,
22:43much more than,
22:44having now been justified
22:45by his blood,
22:47we should be saved
22:47from wrath through him.
22:49If when we were enemies
22:50we were reconciled to God
22:51through the death
22:52of his son,
22:52much more,
22:53having been reconciled,
22:54would be saved
22:54by his life.
22:56And not only that,
22:57but we also rejoice
22:58in God through
22:59our Lord Jesus Christ
23:00to whom we have now
23:00received the reconciliation.
23:03So out of this,
23:04Paul says,
23:04you're not under the law
23:05but under grace.
23:06So there's a change
23:08that's taken place
23:09through the new covenant
23:10and now,
23:11whether you're Jewish
23:12or Gentile,
23:12you are saved,
23:13you're put right with God
23:14through grace,
23:15through acceptance
23:16of Jesus Christ
23:17as Saviour,
23:18through repentance
23:18and faith.
23:22And we go to
23:23the book of Galatians,
23:24you find that in Galatians
23:25Paul describes the Torah
23:26as a temporary measure
23:28given until the Messiah comes.
23:31Therefore the law
23:32was our tutor
23:33to bring us to Christ
23:34that we might be
23:35justified by faith.
23:37So the idea of a tutor
23:38is that he's a teacher,
23:39he's like a school teacher
23:41who shows you
23:42that you need
23:43the Messiah
23:44because the Torah
23:45gives God's standards,
23:48God's commandments
23:49which are right,
23:50but it also reveals
23:51the problem
23:52that we don't keep
23:53those commandments,
23:54which is the whole problem
23:55of the human race.
23:57Everybody kept
23:57the Ten Commandments
23:58in the world.
24:01What would the world be like?
24:03You wouldn't need
24:04any police force
24:04or any prisons
24:05because everyone
24:07would be
24:07not stealing,
24:09not lying,
24:10not murdering,
24:11not committing adultery.
24:13But the problem is
24:15we don't do these things.
24:16Therefore there is a problem
24:17in the human race
24:18so we need
24:19some kind of a law
24:20to,
24:21a law of the land
24:22also to protect us
24:23from criminals
24:24who do the bad stuff.
24:26But also from ourselves
24:27because we see
24:28in our hearts
24:28there is that
24:29principle within us
24:30which causes us
24:31to fall short
24:32of the glory of God.
24:34And whether we're
24:34religious or not religious
24:35makes no difference
24:37because we're all sinners
24:39and we all fall short
24:40of the glory of God.
24:40There's none righteous,
24:42no, not one.
24:44And so
24:44we're saved
24:47through faith in Jesus
24:48and the law is the,
24:50the commands of the law
24:51reveal the fact
24:51that we sin against God
24:52therefore we need
24:53a mediator to save us
24:55from the penalty of God.
24:57And in Galatians
24:58Paul goes on
24:58to speak about
24:59the curse of the law
25:00says as many as are
25:03of the works of the law
25:03under the curse
25:04for it is written
25:05cursed is everyone
25:06who does not continue
25:07in all the things
25:09which are written
25:09in the book of the law
25:10to do them.
25:12Christ, Messiah
25:13became redeemed,
25:14has redeemed us
25:15from the curse of the law
25:16having become a curse
25:17for us
25:18for it is written
25:19cursed is everyone
25:20who hangs on a tree
25:21that the blessings
25:22of Abraham
25:22might come upon
25:23the Gentiles
25:24in Christ Jesus
25:25that we might receive
25:26the promise of the Spirit
25:27through faith.
25:29Okay, so he's saying here
25:30that there is a curse
25:32which comes with the law
25:33the curse comes
25:35because you don't
25:36keep the law
25:37Jesus submitted himself
25:40to the curse
25:40when he was put
25:41on the cross
25:42and he became accursed
25:44he was hanging on a cross
25:46and it says
25:46cursed is everyone
25:47who hangs on a tree
25:48so he's put to death
25:49he became the punishment
25:50he took the punishment
25:51for the sin of the world
25:52he became a curse
25:54for us
25:54in order that we
25:55might be redeemed.
25:57Now this verse here
25:58is extremely offensive
25:59to Jewish people
26:00and I read a book
26:01called 26 Reasons
26:02Why Jews Don't Believe
26:03in Jesus
26:04by a man called
26:04Asher Norman
26:05and he was really
26:06indignant about this verse
26:07which speaks about
26:08the curse of the law
26:09he says that Christians
26:10are being offensive here
26:11they're saying that
26:12the law is accursed
26:13and that there's some
26:15kind of a curse
26:15which comes with the law
26:16but actually Paul
26:19is quoting
26:20from the law itself
26:22from the closing verses
26:24of the book of Deuteronomy
26:25has a whole series
26:26in chapter 27
26:27of curses
26:28and the final curse
26:30is this one
26:31which says
26:32cursed is everyone
26:36who does not confirm
26:37all the words
26:38of the law
26:38by observing them
26:40and all the people
26:41shall say amen
26:42so when Paul talks
26:44about the curse
26:45of the law
26:45he's quoting Deuteronomy
26:46which has come
26:48from Moses
26:48Moses is saying
26:50there is a curse
26:50which comes with the law
26:51because if you don't
26:52keep it
26:52you're under a curse
26:54you're under God's judgment
26:55you have to find some way
26:56to get right with God
26:57under the old covenant
26:59it was through repentance
27:00and faith
27:02in the sacrifices
27:02which God appointed
27:03but that was only
27:04a temporary thing
27:05it was looking forward
27:06to Yeshua
27:07the Messiah
27:08and of course
27:10the whole history
27:11of Israel shows
27:11that the law
27:13is good
27:14but the people
27:15don't keep the law
27:16why does Israel
27:18have so many problems
27:19in the Hebrew Scriptures
27:20why does it have
27:21counts of
27:22the sins of the people
27:24because it's illustrating
27:25what is the problem
27:26of the human race
27:26and if that's the problem
27:28then it needs
27:29something more
27:30than the law
27:31to resolve it
27:32it needs the Messiah
27:33to come
27:34and to remedy
27:37this problem
27:38of course
27:38God was going to send
27:39the Messiah
27:40into the world
27:41the Messiah Yeshua
27:42would be without sin
27:43who would become
27:45a curse for us
27:46when he bore
27:47the sins of the world
27:47upon himself
27:49through his death
27:49as a sacrifice
27:50for sin
27:50and through faith
27:52every one of us
27:53can receive
27:54this sacrifice
27:55and be forgiven
27:55as we believe in him
27:57and are born again
27:58to eternal life
27:59so what about
28:02how we do
28:03respond to the law
28:04how do we understand it
28:07how does it apply
28:08to us today
28:09should you even bother
28:11to read it
28:12you should
28:13because all Scripture
28:15is given
28:15is profitable
28:16when you look at the
28:20when you analyze
28:21the law of Moses
28:22especially
28:23which you'll find
28:23in the book of Deuteronomy
28:24book of Exodus
28:26book of Leviticus
28:27you'll find that
28:29there are really
28:30three categories
28:31of the law
28:31it's one unit
28:32but you can find
28:33three different aspects
28:35of the law
28:35if you like
28:36the first one
28:38is the spiritual
28:38and moral aspects
28:40these are found
28:42in the Ten Commandments
28:43Exodus 20
28:44Deuteronomy 5
28:45and the many passages
28:48dealing with the commandments
28:49to worship one God
28:50not idols
28:52commandments about
28:53sexual morality
28:54about stealing
28:55about murder
28:56etc
28:56all of which are summed up
28:58in the commandment
28:59you should love the Lord
29:00your God
29:01with all your heart
29:01with all your soul
29:02and all your mind
29:03Deuteronomy 6
29:04verse 5
29:05and you should love
29:06your neighbor as yourself
29:07Leviticus 19
29:09verse 18
29:10okay so those are
29:11moral commandments
29:12they're there
29:13in the Torah
29:14and they are
29:17actually
29:19as we're going to see
29:20repeated
29:20in the New Covenant
29:21you then have
29:23the second aspect
29:24which is the
29:24ceremonial laws
29:25these apply to
29:27the construction
29:28of the tabernacle
29:29the erection
29:31of the priesthood
29:31and the
29:33sacrifices
29:34and they form
29:38a huge part
29:39of the Torah
29:40Exodus 26
29:42to 40
29:42is all about
29:43the tabernacle
29:44and the priesthood
29:44about the sacrifices
29:46massive part
29:47of the Torah
29:48Leviticus 1
29:49to 10
29:50is all about
29:50the sacrifices
29:51Leviticus 23
29:53is all about
29:54the festivals
29:54so you have
29:56a very large
29:56part of the Torah
29:57which deals
29:58with all of
29:58the aspects
30:00of the priesthood
30:01the sacrifices
30:02and the
30:04construction
30:05of the tabernacle
30:06which itself
30:06is a visual aid
30:07to understanding
30:08how you can
30:09approach to God
30:10I've given a
30:11series of talks
30:11on that
30:12I won't go
30:12into it
30:12at this time
30:13but if you
30:13look through
30:14the construction
30:15of the tabernacle
30:15every piece
30:17of furniture
30:17in the tabernacle
30:18is a pointer
30:19to how you
30:19approach a holy
30:20God
30:20and you
30:22approach the
30:23holy God
30:23who is actually
30:23in the holy
30:24of holies
30:24and you can
30:25only go in there
30:26that only the
30:26high priest
30:27can go in there
30:27having offered
30:28the sacrifice
30:29to stand
30:29before God
30:30so one of the
30:31points which
30:32you have
30:32in the
30:33sacrificial system
30:35men
30:35in this
30:36construction
30:36is that
30:37it needs to
30:38be a mediator
30:38between
30:39God and
30:40humanity
30:40I once talked
30:42to an orthodox
30:43Jew and he
30:43said you
30:43Christians
30:44you come
30:45through a
30:45middle man
30:45but we go
30:46straight to
30:46the boss
30:47in other words
30:49you have to
30:49come through
30:49Jesus
30:50and you have
30:51to hand me
30:51as a mediator
30:51but we go
30:52straight to
30:52God
30:52so that's
30:54not the
30:54case
30:54you don't
30:54go straight
30:55to God
30:55under the
30:56old covenant
30:57if you turned
30:57up in the
30:58holy of holies
30:58and said hi
31:00God here I
31:00am
31:00what happened
31:02to you
31:02you were
31:04dead
31:04you could
31:05only approach
31:06God if
31:06you came
31:07through the
31:07sacrifices
31:08through the
31:08prescribed way
31:09you needed
31:10the mediator
31:11and the
31:11old covenant
31:12you had
31:12a mediator
31:13the law
31:14itself was
31:15given through
31:15Moses who
31:16was the
31:16mediator
31:17didn't come
31:18directly to
31:18the Jewish
31:19people it
31:19came through
31:20a mediator
31:20everything in
31:21the Bible
31:22comes through
31:22a mediator
31:23because God
31:23is holy
31:23and we're
31:24not
31:24and God
31:25needs to
31:25have some
31:25way in
31:26which he
31:26can mediate
31:27his law
31:27to us
31:28and under
31:30the old
31:30covenant
31:30also we see
31:31that without
31:32the shedding of
31:33blood there
31:33is no remission
31:34of sins
31:34the life of
31:35the flesh
31:35is in the
31:36blood
31:36it's the
31:36blood that
31:36makes atonement
31:37for your
31:37soul
31:38it says in
31:38the book of
31:39Leviticus
31:40so in order to
31:40approach a
31:41holy God
31:41we have to
31:41offer a
31:42sacrifice
31:42which involves
31:43the shedding
31:44of blood
31:44that's fulfilled
31:46in Yeshua
31:47the Messiah
31:47the third category
31:50is various
31:50legal and
31:51civil aspects
31:52the Torah
31:54is actually
31:54going to be
31:54the constitution
31:55of Israel
31:55as they go
31:56into the
31:56land
31:56they're going
31:57to have
31:57authority
31:58on how they
31:59run the
32:00state if you
32:00like
32:00how they run
32:01the country
32:01and they're
32:03given various
32:03laws about
32:04how to live
32:04in the land
32:05including laws
32:06on crime
32:06and punishment
32:07laws raiding
32:09to the death
32:10penalty
32:10laws on
32:13tithing
32:13which was in
32:14a sense a
32:14kind of
32:15income tax
32:15agricultural laws
32:17concerning fields
32:18lying fallow
32:19laws on
32:21cancelling debt
32:21every seven
32:22years
32:22laws on
32:23slavery
32:23laws on
32:24warfare
32:24laws on
32:25rebellious
32:26sons
32:26laws on
32:27cleanliness
32:28food laws
32:28cleansing
32:29of lepers
32:30etc
32:30you've got
32:31a whole
32:31series of
32:32laws which
32:32are about
32:32how you
32:33run your
32:33society
32:34now in
32:36order to
32:37put those
32:38into place
32:38you actually
32:38need to
32:39be in
32:40the government
32:41we can't
32:43do that
32:43because we're
32:43not in
32:44the government
32:44we have to
32:45submit to
32:45the laws
32:46of the
32:46land
32:46we can
32:47pray and
32:48use Christian
32:49influence to
32:49try and make
32:50the laws of
32:50the land
32:51line up with
32:51God's laws
32:52but we don't
32:53set the laws
32:54when Israel
32:55was in the
32:56land they
32:56could set the
32:57laws
32:57they could run
32:57the show
32:58once they're
33:00in the
33:00diaspora
33:00they also
33:00they can't
33:01do it
33:01so they
33:02can't tell
33:03the Jewish
33:04community
33:04can't tell
33:05the people
33:07in Britain
33:07how they
33:07should run
33:08their country
33:08they can
33:09set certain
33:10laws and
33:10customs
33:11within their
33:12own community
33:12but not in
33:13the law
33:13of the
33:13land
33:14okay so
33:17you've got
33:17those three
33:17aspects
33:18now if
33:19Jesus meant
33:20in Matthew
33:20chapter 5
33:21verse 19
33:22the verse
33:22we started
33:22off with
33:23that you
33:24must be
33:24Torah
33:24observant
33:25and if
33:26you break
33:26the least
33:27of these
33:27commandments
33:27you're
33:28going to
33:29be the
33:29least
33:29in the
33:29kingdom
33:30of heaven
33:30then everyone
33:32here is going
33:32to be the
33:33least in the
33:33kingdom of
33:33heaven
33:34because nobody
33:34keeps all
33:35these commandments
33:35and Peter and
33:37Paul didn't so
33:37they're also going
33:38to be least in
33:38the kingdom of
33:39heaven
33:39so you've got to
33:41work them out
33:41how do they
33:42stand
33:42now as we're
33:45going to see in a
33:45moment if you
33:46look at these
33:46commandments
33:47you'll see that
33:48these three
33:48categories can
33:49be divided in
33:50this way
33:50the moral
33:51commandments
33:51are all
33:52restated in
33:53some way in
33:54the New
33:54Testament
33:54all of them
33:55the commandments
33:58relating to the
33:58sacrifices and the
33:59priesthood are
34:01fulfilled in
34:01Jesus the
34:02Messiah
34:02so they're
34:04now replaced
34:05by the new
34:07covenant
34:07principles which
34:08you find in
34:10the epistles
34:10particularly in
34:11the book of
34:11Hebrews
34:12how it should
34:12be applied to
34:13the believer in
34:15the Messiah
34:15the legal and
34:17civil aspects we
34:18can learn some
34:18things from them
34:19about how you
34:19should run
34:20society but as
34:22we are not in
34:23the government we
34:23can't actually
34:24enforce them so
34:25these are things
34:26you can learn
34:26from but you
34:27can't actually
34:27apply as a
34:30believer in
34:30Jesus or even
34:31as a Jewish
34:31person living in
34:32the diaspora or
34:34even one has to
34:34say as a Jewish
34:35person living in
34:35Israel and I
34:37once talked to
34:38an Orthodox Jew
34:38he said one of
34:38the problems we
34:39have is that
34:40Israel doesn't
34:41enforce these
34:41laws as it's
34:42supposed to be
34:42in the Torah
34:43therefore though
34:44we're back in
34:44the land we're
34:45not in a Torah
34:46observant land
34:46we're not doing
34:47the right things
34:47and he said
34:48that actually some
34:48Orthodox Jews have
34:49a problem eating
34:50the food which
34:51is produced in
34:52Israel because
34:53it's not produced
34:53under the way in
34:55which it should be
34:56produced according
34:56to the Torah
34:57and of course there
35:00are huge problems
35:01in trying to do
35:01that in fact
35:03Judaism doesn't
35:04keep all of the
35:05laws even
35:08strictly Orthodox
35:08Jews today do
35:09not keep all the
35:10commandments of the
35:10Torah written in
35:12the book of
35:12Moses once the
35:14temple is destroyed
35:15and the dispersion
35:16of the Jewish
35:16people has taken
35:17place from the
35:18land of Israel
35:18many of them are
35:19now impossible to
35:20keep according to
35:23Judaism and teaching
35:24of the rabbis there
35:25are actually 613 laws
35:27in the Torah which
35:28Jews are obliged to
35:29keep it also
35:32acknowledges that
35:32nobody keeps these
35:33613 laws now there's
35:36a book called handbook
35:37of Jewish thought by
35:38Rabbi Kaplan he
35:40says quote there
35:41is a tradition that
35:42God included 613
35:43commandments in the
35:44Torah of these
35:46248 are positive
35:47while 365 are
35:49negative many of
35:51these commandments
35:51have a deal with
35:52the laws of purity
35:53and sacrifice with
35:54us only applicable
35:55when the holy
35:56temple stood in
35:57Jerusalem therefore
35:58of all the
35:59commandments only 369
36:01apply today of
36:02these 126 are
36:03positive 243 are
36:05negative even of
36:06these however many
36:07only pertain to
36:08special cases or
36:09circumstances of the
36:10total number of
36:11commandments which
36:12apply to everyone
36:13under all conditions
36:14is 270 these 48 are
36:17positive 222 are
36:18negative that's
36:20rabbinic teaching
36:21okay so you've got
36:22613 commandments but
36:24you can only keep
36:24270 of them so if
36:27that's the case and
36:29Jesus says you've got
36:30to keep all the
36:30commandments of the
36:31Torah then not only
36:33we're in trouble but
36:34also the Orthodox
36:35Jews are in trouble
36:36because since the
36:37fall of the temple
36:38the vast area of the
36:39written Torah has
36:41become impossible for
36:42Jewish people to
36:42keep all the
36:44commandments concerning
36:45the tabernacle the
36:46priesthood the
36:46sacrifices cannot be
36:47kept literally by
36:48anybody today that
36:50involves a huge amount
36:51of the text of the
36:52Torah most of
36:53Exodus a lot of
36:55Leviticus all these
36:58parts only kept in
36:59part by Orthodox
37:00Jews and Orthodox
37:02Judaism today keeps
37:03the aspects of the
37:04Torah which are
37:04possible to keep
37:05particularly kosher
37:06food regulations
37:07Sabbath observance
37:08ritual purity
37:09festivals and holy
37:11days but there are a
37:12huge number of
37:13commandments which are
37:14not kept so what's
37:17the answer the
37:17answer this of course
37:18is in the new
37:20covenant the New
37:22Testament doesn't
37:23even answer to this
37:24question since the
37:26coming of Jesus as
37:27the suffering servant
37:29Messiah of Isaiah 53
37:31the commandments of the
37:33Torah have now been
37:33replaced with the new
37:35covenant and his book
37:37Hebrew Christianity
37:38Arnold Fruchtenbaum who
37:40is himself a messianic
37:42Jew also a very learned
37:44messianic Jew so he's
37:45not just a he's one of
37:47the top guys actually
37:48interpreting the Bible
37:51he says this is what he
37:54writes he says the
37:55clear-cut teaching of the
37:55New Testament is that the
37:56law of Moses has been
37:57rendered inoperative with the
37:59death of Christ in other
38:01words the law in its
38:02totality no longer has
38:03authority over any
38:04individual this is
38:06evident first of all from
38:07Romans 10 where it says
38:08Christ is the end of the
38:09law unto righteousness to
38:10everyone who believes
38:12Christ is the end of the
38:14law and that includes all
38:15613 commandments hence the
38:17law has ceased to
38:17function there's no
38:19justification through it
38:20yet knowing that a man is
38:22not justified by the works
38:23of the law but through
38:24faith in Jesus Christ even
38:26we have believed on Christ
38:28Jesus that we might be
38:29justified by faith in
38:30Christ not by works of the
38:31law because by the works
38:33of the law no flesh shall
38:34be justified Galatians 2
38:3716 thus it should be very
38:42evident that the law has
38:43come to an end and that
38:44Christ cannot function in
38:46Christ and cannot function
38:47in justification and
38:48sanctification for the
38:51believer especially it has
38:52been rendered inoperative and
38:53shows that the law has
38:54ceased to function for all
38:55the law of Moses has been
38:57disannulled we're now under a
38:58new law this new law is
39:00called the law of Christ in
39:02Galatians 6 2 and the law
39:04of the spirit of life in
39:05Romans 8 2 it's a brand new
39:07law totally separate from the
39:09law of Moses that's quite a
39:11radical statement and a lot of
39:12messianic Jews totally disagree
39:15with it so not everyone
39:17believes that but if you want
39:19to be consistent theologically it
39:21does make sense so does that
39:26mean that we can break the
39:27plans of the Torah no if you
39:32come back to what I was saying
39:33the moral aspects of the Torah
39:34are all restated in the New
39:37Testament Romans chapter 13 it
39:41says oh no one anything you
39:42except to love one another he who
39:44loves another has fulfilled the
39:45law for the commandments you
39:47should not commit adultery you
39:48should not murder you should not
39:49steal you should not bear false
39:50witness you should not covet if
39:53there's any other commandment all
39:54are summed up in this saying
39:56namely you should love your
39:57neighbor as yourself love does no
39:59harm to a labor therefore love is
40:01the fulfillment of the law and
40:04you'll find if you go through the
40:05New Testament every moral
40:06commandment in the Hebrew
40:08scriptures is repeated in some
40:09way in the New Testament the
40:13Sermon on the Mount Jesus goes on
40:14to teach not just about the outward
40:16act like adultery and murder also
40:18the inward attitudes of lust and
40:20hatred which lead to these acts
40:22read through the New Testament you
40:25find that worship of God is
40:26enjoined 50 times God only nobody
40:30else idolatry is forbidden 12
40:33times profanity four times honor of
40:35father and mother is commanded six
40:37times adultery is forbidden 12
40:39times theft six times false witness
40:41four times and covetous nine times so
40:45you have the repetition of the moral
40:46commandments right through the New
40:48Testament so you can't say I'm under
40:50grace now and I can break all of God's
40:52commandments because if you're under
40:53grace you're going to keep the
40:55commandments of God given in the
40:57Torah
40:57in the epistle to the Galatians Paul
41:03contrasts the works of the flesh with
41:05the fruit of the spirit so you have
41:08something which produces the flesh it
41:09produces the wrong spirit which is in
41:12each one of us says the works of the
41:15flesh are evident which are adultery
41:16fornication uncleanness lewdness
41:18idolatry sorcery hatred contentions
41:21jealousies outbursts of wrath selfish
41:23ambitions dissensions heresies envy
41:26murders drunkenness revelries and the
41:28like which I told you beforehand just as
41:30I also told you in time past that those
41:32who practice such things will not
41:34inherit the kingdom of God okay maybe
41:37we've all done some of those things
41:39hopefully not all of them but all of
41:41us are sinners so we can have
41:42recognized that there are things in
41:44our lives which break these
41:45commandments and which manifest the
41:48fruit of the the the lusts of the
41:50flesh the works of the flesh what do we
41:53do about it we repent and believe the
41:56gospel if we repent and believe the
41:58gospel then Jesus Christ has taken the
42:00punishment for our sins and our sins are
42:02forgiven and as we repent and believe
42:05the gospel so we should live a new life
42:07it says those who practice such things
42:09will not inherit the kingdom of heaven
42:10doesn't say that that nobody who if you
42:13do those things you're disqualified from
42:15the kingdom of heaven it says those who
42:16practice such things that means that
42:19once you become a Christian once you
42:20become a believer in Jesus those things
42:22should begin to fade out of your life
42:24should begin to live a new life allow
42:26God to sanctify you by the Holy Spirit
42:28give new life in Jesus and you should
42:33receive the fruit of the Spirit
42:34Galatians 5 goes on to say the fruit of
42:37the Spirit is love joy peace long
42:39suffering kindness goodness faithfulness
42:41gentleness self-control against such
42:43there is no law those who are Christ
42:45have crucified the flesh with its
42:46passions and desires if we live in the
42:49Spirit let us also walk in the Spirit
42:51so the fruit of the Spirit should change
42:54you from the person you were before you
42:56became a Christian to the person who
42:57God wants you to be
42:58and this is a work which God does by the
43:03Holy Spirit we have to cooperate with
43:05it so if we don't cooperate with the
43:08Lord then we allow the lust of the
43:09flesh to continue in us then they're
43:11going to continue if we allow God to
43:13change us by the Holy Spirit then he's
43:15going to do that there's a certain
43:17point which we have to make the choice
43:19we can open the door to Jesus or we can
43:21shut the door to Jesus even after we
43:23become a Christian we can do that so we
43:26have to allow the Lord to come into our
43:27life allow us to change us and as we
43:29allow him to change us so we're going
43:30to become the people who God wants us
43:32to be so we're no longer under law we're
43:35under grace but now we're under grace
43:37we're going to live according to the
43:39law of Yeshua Jesus the Messiah which is
43:42the law of the new covenant which will
43:44give us new life in Jesus so to conclude
43:50the goal of the life in the new covenant
43:52is sanctification by the work of the
43:54Holy Spirit in our lives to produce the
43:56fruit of the Spirit not the works of the
43:58flesh to attain to this repentance of
44:01faith in the Lord Jesus is required and
44:04to receive the Holy Spirit into our lives
44:06but to be filled with the Holy Spirit to
44:08allow God to change us by his Spirit we
44:12can't attain to it by the works of the
44:16law and the tragedy of our Jewish friends
44:22around us here many of them very sincere
44:24very committed they probably spend more
44:28time thinking about God praying about God
44:31trying to work it out at least the ultra
44:34orthodox do than we do and yet until they
44:37come to Yeshua the Messiah they can't
44:38actually come to God in truth spirit and
44:41truth because now God has replaced the
44:45former system under Moses with the new
44:47covenant under Jesus the Messiah which is
44:50why though we should love the Jewish people
44:52and we should care for them we should
44:53stand up for them we should also preach
44:54the gospel to them because only in Jesus
44:56the Messiah can they find a true
44:59relationship with God as can all the
45:02Gentiles and the Muslims and the nominal
45:04Christians and the atheists everybody else
45:06we're all under the same problem problem
45:09sin and the only answer is in Jesus the
45:12Messiah so the conclusion is quite simple
45:15believe on Yeshua Jesus the Messiah and be
45:18saved trust in him live your life under the
45:21new covenant under the commands of Jesus
45:23which could cause us to love God to love
45:25our neighbor as ourself and to keep his
45:28commandments all the moral commandments of
45:30the law and that's what God is calling the
45:33church to do and if the church doesn't do
45:36it which for the most part today is not doing
45:39it you see branches of the church which are
45:42trying to justify sin and therefore are no
45:46longer walking in the truth then actually
45:50they're going to be outside of the kingdom
45:51it's not what you call yourself it's what God
45:54calls you it's what God does in your heart
45:56that makes a difference and praise God
