Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez  told Fortune MPW  that when she first pivoted to entrepreneurship, people had "preconceived ideas of what I’m good at."

00:00I don't think most people would have taken me seriously.

00:03Why not?

00:04I just think a lot of people would have preconceived ideas of what I'm good at

00:11and I should stay in my lane and I should do what I'm here to do.

00:16But what I'm here to do is make a difference.

00:19So I think I'm going to keep doing it.

00:22And was there a moment when you felt perception towards you as a founder shift?

00:27Yes, and I really respect that.

00:30But again, I have so many people that have taught me so much along the way

00:36from stories to everything.

00:37I don't by all means have it figured out,

00:40but I do my hardest and I show up for this as much as I can.
