16:34I think you can almost take away the almost pretty soon but they all have great respect for the leader and he is the leader and we've had some very good discussions today and things are going along pretty well as regarding Ukraine Russia we thought it would be a little bit easier that's turned out to be tougher than the Middle East the Middle East was supposed to be the tough one and we've solved that puzzle but this one will get solved also so I want to just say it's an honor to have you Mark thank you very much
17:03thank you so much for hosting again and we were texting I think it was on the day when you were in Israel and in Egypt this tremendous success you had under your leadership bringing peace to the Middle East and then we texted each other and said and the next big thing has to be Ukraine Russia and I want to help NATO wants to help my colleagues want to help to basically deliver on your vision of peace in Ukraine and I really want to thank you for everything you're doing including breaking a deadlock with Putin
17:32starting the dialogue in February when you came in as president in January but also for everything you did with NATO the fact that we are now at this 5% the huge success in The Hague at the NATO summit the fact that Europeans are also stepping up when it comes to Ukraine basically the weapons from the U.S. being delivered to Ukraine paid for by allies and Europeans coming together to discuss how can we sustain Ukraine post the peace deal all of this is evidence of your leadership of pushing the Europeans in the
18:02and Canadians to do more to deliver and to equalizing spending with the U.S. So all of this and today we will talk more on how we can really bring Ukraine to the next phase and get this terrible war this this and all the bloodshed and as you know we are going to be making a big trip next week some of you are going with us we'll be going to Malaysia South Korea and Japan
18:28in South Korea I'll be meeting with President Xi of China we'll have a pretty long meeting scheduled we can work out a lot of our questions and our doubts and our tremendous assets together so we look forward to that I think something will work out we have a very good relationship but that'll be a big one we canceled the meeting with President Putin it just it didn't feel right to me it didn't feel like we were going to get to the place we have to get so I canceled it but we'll do it in the future
18:57but next week we'll be with many of you in those locations that I told you then it's back back to Washington so thank you very much everybody yeah please
19:07Mr. President can you tell us a little bit about why you're elevating sanctions against Russia right now what's the I just felt it was time waited a long time I thought that we'd go long before the Middle East and Mark as you know we did the Middle East plus seven so we did seven different wars from from
19:26Pakistan and India to so many as about China media which was which they said was impossible to do all these wars I did and the one that we have left we have one left it'll be nine and we have one left and I think we'll get that done too I think we're on our way to getting it done
19:42we have to
19:45Mr. President can you have a timeline for when you think the story is going to be over because of your leadership
19:50no I don't have a timeline you can't have it in war it's hard to have a timeline you know so many things happen in war
19:55go ahead
19:56what about Tomahawk missiles Putin is definitely worried
20:00well the problem with the Tomahawk that a lot of people don't know it'll take a minimum of six months usually a year to learn how to use them they're highly complex
20:07so the only way a Tomahawk is going to be shot is if we shot it and we're not going to do that
20:12but there is a tremendous learning curve with the Tomahawk it's a it's a very powerful weapon very accurate weapon
20:19and maybe that's what makes it so complex but it will take a year it takes a year of intense training to learn how to use it
20:26and we know how to use it and we're not going to be teaching other people it will be too far out into the future
20:32this is my name Mr. President
20:37I thought Mr. President that you said as recently as yesterday that you still believe that Putin wants to end the war
20:42and then today you took this step to ratchet the sanctions and put more pressure on him
20:47what else could you do to encourage him to get there or can you explain why you do believe that Putin wants peace
20:52yeah that's a good question today is a very big day in terms of what we're doing
20:57look these are tremendous sanctions these are very big those are against their two big
21:01oil companies and we hope that they won't be on for long we hope that the war will be settled
21:07we just answered having to do with the various forms of missiles and everything else that we're looking at
21:14but we don't think that's going to be necessary we would like to see them just take the line that has been formed
21:21over quite a long period of time and go and let's you know go home last week they had almost 8,000 soldiers killed
21:30many Russians were killed last week many Ukrainians were killed last week
21:36we think it's ridiculous and we'd like to have it in
21:38why do you think you want peace though why do you still believe that
21:41I think they want peace I think they both want peace at this point
21:44it's been you know it's almost four years you're going into four years
21:47and if I were president that never would have started but yeah
21:53it's time
21:55well I think it's a shame that it's shut down because we have the greatest economy as you were saying before
22:08we have the greatest economy in the world right now by far the United States
22:13we have almost 18 now it was 17 now it's 18 trillion dollars being poured into our country
22:19and it's no time for shutdowns I don't think it's affecting what we're doing
22:23but it's it's too bad for a lot of people we have a lot of good people that are working right now that should be
22:28and it's because the Democrats want to try and renegotiate a deal that they had negotiated
22:33they want 1.5 trillion dollars given to illegal immigrants who came into the country
22:38and it's going to hurt the health care of citizens of our country that have been paying into it
22:44that have been working hard for it that really deserve it so we're never going to do that
22:48it's not going to happen and I will tell you there are a lot of good Democrats that really want to make a deal
22:53and I think all we need is five Democrats because we have a great support on the Republican side
22:58so I think we need five Democrats and there are a lot of them that want to make a deal
23:03so I think at some point at some point common sense will prevail
23:08go ahead you can finish up
23:11on the drug votes right in the Eastern Pacific can you explain to us what that was about how it was conducted
23:18yeah sure well they had one today in the Pacific
23:21and the way I look at it every time I look because it is violent
23:25and it is very it's amazing that the weaponry that every everyone that you know they have these boats
23:31that go 45 50 miles an hour of the water and when you look at the accuracy and the power
23:37look we have the greatest military in the world we have the greatest weapons in the world
23:42and you see a little bit of it there one shot everyone dead center
23:46and the only way you can't feel bad about it is you realize that you won't feel badly about it
23:52is you realize that every time you see that happen you're saving 25,000 American lives
23:57every one of those boats that gets knocked out is saving 25,000 American lives
24:02not to mention the torn up families all over the country
24:06and whenever I see that I say to myself I just saved 25,000 lives
24:11I will say that there are very few boats traveling on the water right now
24:16actually that includes fishing boats that includes any other kind of boat
24:20but there are very few boats traveling on the water
24:23so now they'll come in by land at a lesser to a lesser extent
24:26and they will be hit on land also
24:29in the back
24:34yes we have legal authority
24:39we're allowed to do that and if we do by land we may go back to Congress
24:44but we have this is a national security problem
24:47they killed 300,000 people last year
24:51drugs these drugs coming in
24:53they killed 300,000 Americans last year
24:56and that gives you legal authority
24:58we have a national security problem
25:00really I will say this
25:02when you look at the people we're dealing with it
25:06we know them we know the people coming in
25:08we know the boats we know everything else
25:10we're allowed to do it
25:12it's in international waters
25:14if we don't do it
25:16we're going to lose hundreds of thousands of people
25:19now they'll be coming in by land a little bit more
25:22because they're not coming in by boat anymore
25:24there are no boats in the water
25:25there are no more boats
25:26we know the boat almost immediately
25:28you know it's pretty unusual when you see somebody with a fishing rod
25:31and five engines on the back of the boat
25:33you know you don't need that to go fishing
25:35wait wait wait
25:37and we will hit them very hard when they come in by land
25:41and they haven't experienced that yet
25:43but now we're totally prepared to do that
25:46we'll probably go back to Congress
25:48and explain exactly what we're doing when we come to the land
25:51we don't have to do that
25:53but I think Marco I'd like to do that
25:55you may respond to that if you want
25:57well I mean the question is bottom line
25:59these are drug boats
26:01if people want to stop seeing drug boats blow up
26:03stop sending drugs to the United States
26:05but does it matter if it's in the United States?
26:07well these are all in international waters
26:08the boat
26:09can you do a strike in the United States?
26:11well that's a different matter
26:12now you're talking about a law enforcement matter
26:13in this particular case
26:14there are people traveling on international waters
26:16headed towards the United States
26:17with hostilities in mind
26:19which includes flooding our country
26:20with dangerous deadly drugs
26:22and they're going to be stopped
26:23and that's what's happening
26:24and in the case last week
26:26you saw there was a submarine
26:27it was a submarine
26:28it was a submersible
26:29that's a drug boat
26:30all the way through
26:31we know what these boats are
26:32you said it
26:33we track them from the very beginning
26:34we know who's on them
26:35who they are
26:36where they're coming from
26:37what they have on them
26:38and you know
26:39if you're running drug boats
26:40you're in grave danger
26:41and drug usage is way down
26:43and drug usage coming from the sea
26:46they call it ocean drugs
26:48a little term that they use
26:50the ocean drugs
26:51is very close to non-existent right now
26:54I wouldn't want to be in one of those boats
26:57heading away you know
26:58they're driving happily to destroy the lives of people
27:00and they end up
27:02that's the end of them
27:03so the ocean drugs
27:05and the sea drugs
27:07drugs by sea they call it also
27:09that's almost down to nothing
27:12as you can imagine
27:14so they continue to come in by land
27:16and a little bit less
27:17because they see something is going to happen
27:18they don't like it
27:19they see something
27:20and they're right
27:21something very serious is going to happen
27:23the equivalent of what's happening by sea
27:25and we're going to Congress
27:28just to tell them what we're doing
27:29just to keep them informed
27:30we have to do it financial security
27:33we have to do it to save lives
27:34the Secretary Besson said
27:38the Secretary Besson said
27:39that Vladimir Putin
27:41had not been honest and forthright
27:42in his talks
27:43I was just wondering if you could tell us
27:44a little bit more about your feelings about that
27:46and also my mate to Mimir Rutte
27:48just your thoughts on whether Ukraine
27:50should get Commonwealth
27:51thank you
27:52well I think that in terms of honesty
27:54the only thing I can say
27:55is every time I speak with Vladimir
27:57I have good conversations
27:59and then they don't go anywhere
28:01they just don't go anywhere
28:02so in that sense
28:03but no look
28:04he's fighting a war
28:05he's in a war
28:07that's two very competent sides
28:10and that's the way war is
28:11you never know with war
28:12but I would say that it's time
28:15it's time to make a deal
28:17a lot of people are dying
28:18you know they're not Americans
28:20but they're people
28:21they're souls
28:23and they're dying by the thousands
28:25worst since World War II
28:27and we really should stop it
28:28and to your other question
28:30yes
28:31yeah please
28:32sorry to your other question
28:33this has been consistent
28:34from this President
28:35when we first met again
28:37after your re-election
28:38in Mar-a-Lago in November
28:40you said we have to stop the killing
28:42this is close to your heart
28:44and this is your vision
28:45that's why this war needs to end
28:47when it comes to Tomahawk's
28:48whatever system
28:49it's up to individual nations
28:51to decide whatever they want to supply
28:53to Ukraine
28:54NATO doesn't take a position
28:55but I can assure you this
28:56when the President called me
28:58in July
28:59and said we want to again
29:01send weapons into Ukraine
29:02paid for by our allies
29:03the Canadians and the Europeans
29:05that was an important moment
29:06and that is now taking place
29:08and the Ambassador myself
29:09we're working hard at this
29:10already a couple of billion dollars
29:13of weaponry into Ukraine
29:15from the U.S.
29:16paid for my allies
29:17so I'm not going to comment
29:19about the Tomahawks
29:20but when it comes to the U.S.
29:21and all the support for Ukraine
29:22it is there
29:23and it is close to the President's heart
29:24and I know this
29:25I will say this
29:27and Mark can say it better than anybody
29:29the European nations
29:30and Canada
29:31have really pulled together
29:33and it's beyond even that
29:34I mean it's really beyond that
29:36and especially Australians
29:37and New Zealanders
29:38Japan
29:39if you want to really add them up
29:40we could really add them up
29:41but NATO basically
29:43European and Canada
29:44and a lot of other nations
29:45they've really banded together
29:47they are not happy about
29:48what's happening with Russia
29:49and Ukraine
29:50they're not happy at all
29:51neither am I
29:52Jeff
29:53sir
29:54just changing this topic slightly
29:56I see you've got the model
29:58of the White House
29:59and the ballroom
30:00many people were surprised
30:02the entire East Wing
30:03is being demolished
30:04because you had said
30:05initially that the ballroom
30:06would just touch
30:07or would not touch
30:08what happened
30:09certain areas are being left
30:11we determined that
30:13after really a tremendous amount of study
30:16with some of the best architects
30:17in the world
30:18we determined that
30:19really knocking it down
30:20trying to use a little section
30:21you know
30:22the East Wing was not much
30:24it was not much left
30:25from the original
30:26it was over the course of a hundred years
30:30it was changed
30:31the columns were removed
30:32and it was a much different building
30:34then a story was added on
30:36in 1948, 1949
30:38there was a story added on
30:39which was not particularly nice
30:41and the building was very, very much changed
30:43from what it was originally
30:45it was never thought of as being much
30:48it was a very small building
30:49and rather than allowing that
30:51to hurt a very expensive
30:53beautiful building
30:54that frankly
30:55they've been after for years
30:56you have that
30:57I brought these along
30:58so people could see
30:59but it's
31:00you know
31:01there's a relative
31:03nobody's actually seen anything quite like it
31:07I think it'll be one of the great ballrooms
31:10anywhere in the world
31:11it's about $300 million
31:13it's set to do
31:14many, many things
31:15including meetings
31:16of foreign leaders
31:17including
31:18the honoring
31:19of foreign leaders
31:20you can see this
31:21this is a plan
31:23if it's got
31:24tables
31:25so that you honor
31:27a foreign leader
31:28we have a proper space
31:29right now
31:30we have a space
31:31that with tables
31:32holds about 79 people
31:33and this is a proper
31:35kind of a thing
31:36now what the White House
31:37was doing
31:38as you know
31:39as they were putting tents
31:40out on the lawn
31:41this is
31:42an interior shot
31:43of the ballroom
31:44I think there'll be nothing like it
31:46and it's being paid for
31:47a hundred percent
31:48by me and some friends of mine
31:49donors
31:50to it
31:51the government's paying
31:52absolutely nothing
31:54we're also working
31:55with the military on it
31:56because they want to make sure
31:57everything's perfect
31:58and the military is very much
31:59involved in this
32:00they want to make sure
32:01everything is absolutely beautiful
32:03you can see the kind of interiors
32:06that we're talking about
32:07that's an interior of the ballroom
32:09and it's the highest level
32:11and you see
32:12it goes beautifully
32:13with the White House
32:14I mean the mix is beautiful
32:15so over the years
32:17many presidents
32:18have made changes
32:19this obviously would be
32:20the biggest change
32:21but this was something
32:22they've wanted
32:23for at least 150 years
32:25many of you have gone
32:27to the events
32:28where they had
32:29as an example
32:30President Xi
32:31or they had
32:32you know
32:33a leader of one of the countries
32:34including the king
32:35and the queen
32:36from your favorite country
32:37absolutely
32:38frankly
32:39but where they'd be honored
32:40and they'd be in a tent
32:41out on the lawn
32:42and it would rain
32:43and it was a disaster
32:44Brian's shaking his head
32:45you know what I'm talking about
32:46and so
32:48I thought
32:49I'd bring this out
32:50because this is going to be
32:52probably the finest ballroom
32:54ever built
32:55and we're doing it
32:56no cost
32:57to the country
32:58it's being put
32:59the money's being put in
33:00donors
33:02very great patriots
33:03actually
33:04and the spirit
33:05on the building
33:06of it is amazing
33:07we are using
33:08little sections
33:09of footings
33:10and various other things
33:11but that's sort of irrelevant
33:12in order to do it properly
33:14we had to take down
33:15the existing structure
33:16the way it was shown
33:17it looked like
33:18we were touching
33:19the White House
33:20we don't touch the White House
33:21that's a bridge
33:22a glass bridge
33:23going from the White House
33:24to the ballroom
33:25then you get into
33:26the lobby of the ballroom
33:27and then you go into
33:28the magnificent
33:29the main room
33:30and it's something
33:31that has gotten
33:32incredible reviews
33:33and you're
33:34just quickly
33:35following up on that
33:36just quickly
33:37following up on that
33:38sir
33:39just
33:40I just want a quick
33:41follow up on that question
33:42your response to people
33:43who say that you haven't
33:44been transparent enough
33:45about this
33:46I haven't been transparent?
33:47really?
33:48I've shown this to everybody
33:50that would listen
33:51third grade reporters
33:53didn't see it
33:54because they didn't look
33:55the third grade reporter
33:56always have been
33:57so third grade reporters
33:58didn't look
33:59but anybody
34:00that asked
34:01these pictures
34:02have been in
34:03newspapers
34:04they've been
34:05all over the place
34:06and you know
34:07we're very proud of it
34:08it's gotten great reviews
34:09it's gotten really
34:10great reviews
34:11so
34:12I think we've been
34:13more transparent
34:14than anybody's ever
34:15transparent
34:16that the sanctions
34:18that you're announcing
34:19today
34:20will push Putin
34:21to the negotiation
34:22you know that they will
34:23I think that they'll
34:24certainly have an impact
34:25they're massive sanctions
34:27it's sanctions on oil
34:28the two biggest oil companies
34:31among the biggest in the world
34:32but they're Russian
34:33they do a lot of oil
34:34and hopefully it'll
34:36push
34:37hopefully he'll become
34:40reasonable
34:41and hopefully Zelenskyy
34:42will be reasonable too
34:43you know it takes two to tango
34:44as they say
34:45and we're going to find out
34:46they've had
34:47they hate each other
34:48these two people
34:49hate each other
34:50you know that better than anybody
34:51and it makes it more difficult
34:53than it should be
34:54this should be easier
34:55to do
34:56but the level of hatred
34:57between Zelenskyy
34:58and Putin is very substantial
35:00can I add one
35:01can I add
35:02could I add one thing
35:03could I add one thing
35:04could I add one thing
35:05could I add one thing
35:06what the president is doing
35:07today with these sanctions
35:08is putting more pressure
35:10of course on both parts
35:11in this case
35:12on Russia
35:13it's all about
35:14changing the calculus
35:16making sure that Putin
35:17understands that
35:18the president's vision
35:19this weekend
35:20of having a ceasefire
35:22stop where they are
35:23as you literally said
35:24that this has to be
35:25step one now
35:26and for him
35:27to really accept that vision
35:29and to come to the table
35:30and then you have to put pressure
35:31and this is exactly
35:32what he did today
35:33along with Europe
35:34I mean Europe
35:35look
35:36these have become
35:37they've actually become
35:38friends of mine
35:39I think all of them
35:40we have a very close relationship
35:41and they want to see it end too
35:43they really want to see it end
35:45but I can say
35:46they're totally committed
35:47if this went on for 10 more years
35:49Europe is behind them
35:50but they just can't let that happen
35:51you can't let what's been going on
35:53now it should have never happened
35:55it would have never happened
35:56if I were president
35:57but it did happen
35:58I inherited
35:59this was Biden
36:00a man who was
36:02without question
36:03you take a look at the new walkway
36:05the presidential walk of fame
36:08we call it
36:09Biden is the worst president
36:12we've ever had
36:13if it was even a president
36:15the people that surrounded that desk
36:17made those decisions
36:18but this should have never happened
36:20it wouldn't have happened
36:21but it did happen
36:22I inherited it
36:23we're going to get it ended
36:24hopefully soon
36:25yes please
36:28you had a true social post
36:30earlier this afternoon
36:31talking about a Wall Street Journal report
36:33and a fake story
36:34yeah
36:35fake
36:36Wall Street Journal is fake
36:37less fake on financial
36:38than it is on gossip
36:40can you just confirm
36:41that my understanding
36:42of what's happening
36:43is after it
36:44and as I understand
36:45that story
36:46framed it like
36:47we had just lifted the U.S.
36:48a restriction on intelligence
36:50no it said that
36:51I gave Ukraine permission
36:52to shoot missiles
36:54deep into Russia
36:55I didn't do that
36:56second of all
36:58they're not using our missiles
36:59they're using
37:00I think European missiles
37:01or from someplace
37:02but they're not using ours
37:04and what they do
37:05I don't control that
37:06but I do control our missiles
37:08they're not shooting our missiles
37:10it was a fake story
37:11Wall Street Journal
37:12does a lot of fake stories
37:14thank you so much
37:16the president of Columbia
37:18in a recent interview
37:19said that
37:20if you won't change
37:21he thinks that people
37:22should get rid of you
37:23we're talking about
37:24now Columbia the country
37:25not the university
37:26he said what
37:27he said that
37:28if you won't change
37:29then perhaps you need
37:30to be gotten rid of
37:31do you do that as a threat
37:32well he's a thug
37:33and bad guy
37:34he's a guy that
37:35is making a lot of drugs
37:37we've just as of today
37:38stopped all payments
37:39going to Columbia
37:40the country
37:41Columbia
37:42also
37:43the school of Columbia
37:44no we settled
37:45we made a settlement
37:46with him
37:47but
37:48no he's a thug
37:49and he's a bad guy
37:50and he's hurt his country
37:51very badly
37:52they're doing it very poorly
37:53Columbia
37:54they make cocaine
37:55they have cocaine factories
37:57they grow all sorts of crap
37:59that's drugs
38:00bad drugs coming into the United States
38:02goes generally through Mexico
38:04and he better watch it
38:07or we'll take very serious action
38:08against him and his country
38:10his country is
38:11what
38:12what he has led his country
38:13into is a death trap
38:15please
38:17has the Secretary General
38:19presented his Ukraine peace plan to you
38:22are you prepared to be
38:23chairman of the board of peace
38:24oh
38:25there is no Secretary General peace plan
38:27but I'm here for not only really
38:29I really want to correct it
38:30because I saw some of that in the media
38:32of course many people are thinking
38:34how to bring this terrible war to an end
38:36and supporting the President in doing that
38:39why I'm here is to dialogue again with the President
38:41how I can be
38:42how NATO
38:43my colleagues and other colleagues in NATO
38:45can be of maximum support
38:46to get that done
38:48but there is no peace plan on the table
38:50I mean
38:51if there is a peace plan
38:52it is what the President said last Friday and Sunday
38:54which is
38:55stop where you are
38:56stop the fighting
38:57this is about NATO
38:58we're a very proud member of NATO
39:00we have a great relationship with the countries of NATO
39:03I think made much better by our visit a few months ago
39:06when they agreed to
39:07they agreed to 5% instead of 2% of GDP
39:11that was a big concession
39:13I think that was a concession
39:14that two years ago
39:15nobody would have said
39:16even a year ago
39:17even nine months ago
39:18before you were elected
39:19yeah they would have said
39:20that's not possible
39:21and the difference is
39:22they're paying 5%
39:23as opposed to not paying 2%
39:25a lot of them weren't paying
39:26with the exception of Spain
39:28I think you're going to have to talk to Spain
39:30because they're not
39:31we're going to get there
39:32Spain is not a team player
39:33so other than
39:34other than Spain
39:35everybody is 100%
39:36and you could solve the Spain problem
39:39very easily I think
39:40you know if you want
39:41Brian
39:43Brian go ahead
39:44yeah go ahead
39:45then we'll take Brian
39:46go ahead
39:47the soybean farmers
39:48are they going to be getting support from you soon
39:50and you'll be
39:51yeah well they do
39:52so
39:53what's happened
39:54you could say with that
39:55you could say with beef
39:56with all of it
39:58the beef
40:00the ranchers
40:01let's say
40:02who have done a great job
40:05have lost their shirts
40:06for many many years
40:07they've really been decimated
40:09and I helped them a lot
40:11I put tariffs on things coming in
40:14to the country
40:15including beef
40:16and that gave them a chance
40:17to finally
40:18have a decent industry
40:20we are going to be talking to them
40:23they're great people
40:24but they've been hurt for 25-30 years
40:26they've been losing
40:27because other countries
40:28have taken advantage of them
40:30and by putting tariffs on
40:31they've been able to make a few dollars
40:33they've been able to have an industry
40:35but I also want to keep the beef prices low
40:38so I'll be talking with the ranchers
40:40and I'll be speaking with a lot of different people
40:43including Scott and Howard
40:44and we'll do something
40:45because prices are way down in our country
40:47energy is way down
40:49I think you're going to see $2 gasoline very soon
40:51I see that it's $2.50 in a lot of places
40:54$2.50
40:55we were heading to $5, $6, and $7
40:58if Biden didn't go back to my policy toward the end
41:01you would have seen
41:02but he didn't go back to the full policy
41:04and he missed the most important thing
41:06so we were up to
41:07you know, we were way up
41:08I think you're going to see $2 gasoline
41:10we could even break that number
41:12that's a big difference
41:13the only cost that's really up is beef
41:16and the fake news only wants to talk about beef
41:21and what I did is
41:23I made it possible for those people to survive
41:25they're incredible people
41:26but they were being decimated by other countries
41:29and I didn't want that to happen
41:31so prices are way down
41:33groceries are down
41:34everything is down
41:35energy is way down
41:37even interest rates
41:38with a bad chairman of the Fed
41:40he's terrible
41:41he's a fool
41:42but even interest rates are down
41:45so our country has never done better
41:48we're going to take in
41:49I think $20, $21 trillion this year
41:52no country has ever taken in more than three
41:55and we're going to take in $21 trillion of investments
41:58because of the tariffs
42:00if we didn't have tariffs
42:01we would be a mess
42:02we would be a national security problem
42:04and we've done a job
42:06so I'm very happy about that
42:08we're going to do something very quickly
42:10and easily on beef to get it down
42:12the ranchers understand that
42:15they're so happy for what I've done
42:17I saved them
42:18I don't think you'd have any beef
42:19in this country if I didn't do that
42:21so we're very proud of that
42:23yeah Brian
42:24yesterday in Los Angeles
42:26immigration officials were attacked by some protest
42:30yeah sure
42:32to arrest an illegal alien
42:33Gavin Newsom and other Democrats
42:35have used very aggressive language
42:36in terms of how to address
42:38Is there any responsibility
42:41that we can place on Gavin Newsom
42:43and other elected officials
42:44for using such aggressive language
42:46well Gavin has to be careful
42:48remember that when I first came in
42:50they had a terrible riot in Los Angeles
42:52they had the fires
42:53which shouldn't have happened
42:54they didn't have the water for the fires
42:56they should have had the water coming in
42:57from the Pacific Northwest
43:00they didn't have the waters
43:01they didn't have water in the hydrants
43:02or the sprinklers
43:03so they had the fires
43:04and then they had the riot
43:06and if we didn't go and take care of that riot
43:09you would have lost Los Angeles
43:10you would have canceled the Olympics
43:12which is because of me in Los Angeles
43:15and the police commissioner
43:18the head of the police said
43:20if the president didn't come in
43:22we would have lost Los Angeles
43:24we did not have the capability of taking care of it
43:28and he said it very strongly
43:30and we did a great job
43:31and within a week it was all done
43:33within one day it was done
43:34but within a week it was all done
43:36and then they go back to their normal practice
43:40of weakness
43:41of not taking care of criminals
43:43meaning taking care of putting them in jails
43:45where they should be
43:46Washington D.C.
43:47and you all are the best people for that
43:50because Washington D.C. is now one of the safest cities
43:52it was one of the most dangerous cities in the country
43:55now Washington D.C.
43:56believe it or not
43:57I'm embarrassed to say it in front of you
43:59but Washington D.C. went from
44:02one of the worst most dangerous cities
44:04to you can walk down the street
44:07you can send your child to meet you at a location
44:10your child is going to be fine
44:12we have a very very safe city
44:13one of the safest
44:14and you know very proud of that
44:16Memphis by the way is coming along fantastically
44:18we're in Memphis right now
44:20we're we had the FBI in Chicago
44:24we're doing things
44:25we haven't served Chicago yet
44:26when we do Chicago will be very quickly
44:29a very very safe city
44:31but if you look at what's happening in Memphis
44:33it's great but you got to look at Washington
44:35people are coming up to me
44:36people that work in the White House
44:38they're saying thank you sir
44:39and I immediately know what they're thinking me about
44:41it's thinking they can walk to work
44:43they would never walk to work a year ago
44:46they can walk into work and they feel safe and secure
44:49and it's beautiful
44:50and I'll tell you what
44:51it's really an honor to add that great ballroom
44:54to the structures in Washington
44:56it's going to be one of the great ballrooms of the world
44:58and I think it's going to be something you're all going to be very proud of
45:01I think we'll make a deal
45:12I think we're going to make a deal on the rare earth is the least of it
45:15look the tariffs are much more powerful than the rare earth
45:18the rare earth is a disturbance
45:20but there's a lot of rare earth around
45:22I'll tell you I've had more calls on rare earth
45:24we've got it everybody's
45:26we'll make a deal on I think everything
45:28I think we're going to make a deal on soybeans and the farmers
45:31I think we're going to make a deal on maybe even nuclear
45:35you know President Putin in his call mentioned to me about nuclear
45:39where we do a de-escalation
45:41and I'm fine with that
45:43I think it's good
45:44I think it's a very appropriate thing
45:45we have the most nuclear weapons
45:47Russia's second
45:48China is actually third by a long way
45:51but they'll be even within four or five years
45:53too many
45:55and we are talking about de-escalation
45:58that's already being talked about
45:59and I think we'll add
46:01we'll probably add China into the mix
46:03Mr. President Xi to stop purchasing all that Russian oil
46:08that's funding this war against Ukraine
46:10well I think I'll be talking to him about it
46:12I think it's a little bit of a different talk
46:14India as you know has told me they are top stop
46:17you know they're it's a process you can't just stop it
46:20but by the end of the year they'll be down to almost nothing
46:24that's a big thing that was almost 40% of the oil
46:27India they've been great spoke to Prime Minister Modi yesterday
46:31they've been absolutely great
46:33China's a little bit different you know
46:35they're a little bit different relationship they have with Russia
46:38it was never good but because of Biden and Obama
46:41they got forced together
46:42they should never have been forced together
46:44but they're a little bit forced
46:45but they're by nature they're not
46:47they can't be friendly
46:48they can't be good
46:49by nature they can't
46:51I hope they are friendly frankly
46:53but they can't be the
46:54you don't want
46:55you should not have forced Russia and China together
46:57and Biden did that
46:59Obama did that
47:01they forced them together because of energy
47:03because of oil
47:04and so they are closer than they would normally be
47:08I think I'll probably be talking about it
47:10what I'll really be talking to him about is
47:12how do we end the war with Russia and Ukraine
47:14whether it's through oil or energy or anything else
47:17and I think he's going to be very receptive
47:20he would now like to
47:22I'm not sure that he did at the beginning
47:24he would now like to see that war end
47:27Do you think Xi plays an important role
47:29Mr. President
47:30do you think Xi plays an important role
47:32in terms of inserting himself
47:34and convincing Putin
47:36who he speaks to regularly to stop the war right now?
47:38Yeah I do
47:39I think he can have a big influence on Putin
47:41I think he can have a big influence on a lot of people
47:43look he's a respected man
47:45he's a very strong leader of a very big country
47:48yeah I think he can have a big influence
47:50and we will certainly be talking about Russia-Ukraine
47:54Mr. President
47:57thank you Mr. President
47:58Liam Costner with Syrah
47:59my question is actually for the Secretary-General
48:01Mr. Yes
48:02Mr. Secretary
48:03I don't know if you've seen this
48:04but polling out of Ukraine shows a massive collapse
48:07in Ukrainian support for the war
48:09Gallup poll had just 23 percent
48:11that's less than a quarter
48:13Zelenskyy came out today
48:14praising President Trump's proposal
48:16for freezing the front lines of battle
48:19as part of the ceasefire
48:21he said that's a good compromise
48:22so people view your coming here as
48:25you know you're lobbying the US government
48:27to continue its involvement in the war
48:29you're obviously lobbying for more NATO weapons
48:31to be sent to Ukraine
48:33but Ukrainians themselves don't want to fight the war
48:35so how do you justify that morally?
48:37Well I'm lobbying only for one thing
48:39and that is to make sure that we end this war
48:42and I don't have to lobby the President
48:44because we totally agree on this
48:45and this is what he has been doing from day one
48:47everything he could do to break the deadlock with Putin
48:50get the dialogue going
48:52dialoguing also with Zelenskyy
48:53and getting this war done
48:55it's crucial
48:56and the fact that the US is now supplying weapons into Ukraine
49:00paid for by allies
49:01is extremely important
49:03and that's now happening since 2-3 months
49:06about 2 billion moving into Ukraine
49:08why do you think that will wind it down now?
49:11What do you mean?
49:12Do you think more weapons will wind down the war?
49:14I mean there's more to be done
49:16so what you need
49:17what the President said this weekend
49:19stop where you are
49:20so basically do a ceasefire
49:22and then have all your discussions about territory and whatever
49:25but first stop the war
49:26this is what you said on Friday
49:27and on Sunday
49:29it's a war
49:30I mean your question is really a fair one
49:31it's a war that should have never started
49:33and you know how I feel about it
49:35but it's a war that should have never started
49:37and we're not selling any weapons to Ukraine
49:39we're selling them to NATO
49:41which is different from before with Biden
49:43he just gave 350 billion dollars worth of weapons
49:46and cash right into Ukraine
49:49and that was so foolish
49:50but we sell them to NATO
49:53and in theory you can do what you want with them
49:56it doesn't have to be Ukraine but probably it is mostly
49:59now what nations are doing now is buying from this program
50:02and making sure that the supplies in Ukraine
50:04for Europeans and Canadians
50:06and for example these are interceptors for the Patriot systems
50:09crucial to protect the cities
50:12today again a Russian attack has killed children
50:15at least seriously wounded children in kindergarten in Ukraine
50:18so we need to make sure that the air defense systems are in place
50:22and we need the US systems to do that
50:24and the Europeans are paying for that
50:25and this is exactly the type of actions we needed
50:28and the president is doing that
50:29and trying everything to get this work to an end
50:32starting with the ceasefire
50:33Mr. President, do you think he would even want to take all of Ukraine?
50:38I always felt that way
50:40I always felt he wanted to
50:43when I was in my first term I was with you know
50:46I was very close to him relatively speaking
50:49it was harder because of the Russia Russia Russia hoax
50:51but I would talk to President Putin about Ukraine
50:55and it was the apple of his eye
50:56I'd say it was the apple of his eye
50:58but it would have never happened
51:00he knew the consequences were too great
51:02when we had a rigged election
51:05and all of a sudden I wasn't there
51:07he said wow
51:08I think he looked at Afghanistan
51:09how horribly that was handled so stupidly
51:12and I think that really gave him a little additional
51:15you know incentive
51:17I always felt he wanted the whole thing
51:19not a piece of it
51:21but I think now he's willing to negotiate a little bit further
51:26and I think he's willing to make a deal
51:27we'll see
51:28we'll see
51:29we don't we don't want him
51:31we don't want him to have the whole thing
51:33yeah I'd like to
51:47I think it's one of the most important decisions
51:49we'll ever have for the Supreme Court
51:51with tariffs we're a strong sound country
51:55we're a nationally secure and internationally secure country
51:59we're a very rich country
52:01without tariffs it's a slog for this country
52:03big slog
52:04I think it's one of the most important decisions
52:06in the history of the Supreme Court
52:08and I might go there
52:09I really believe I have an obligation to go there
52:12we are doing so well as a country right now
52:16because of tariffs
52:17and you have to understand
52:18tariffs have been used against us for many years
52:22decades
52:23and just I mean just slowly but surely hurting our country so badly
52:28that's why we owe 37 trillion dollars
52:30we owe that because other countries have taken advantage of us over many many decades
52:35over many decades
52:37and now we're a rich country
52:41we're taking in money like we've never done before
52:43without tariffs that would not be happening
52:45and also I solved as you know eight wars
52:49of the eight five of them maybe even six of them are because of tariffs
52:53the threat of tariffs on these nations
52:56if you want to fight that's okay
52:58India and Pakistan
53:00if you want to fight that's okay
53:01but you're going to pay tariffs and they're going to be very substantial
53:04and we're in the midst of a trade deal
53:06and they said we don't want to do that
53:07two days later they call up and they're not going to fight anymore
53:10the peace they have peace
53:12but I've done that out of eight I would say six six times five times six times
53:18tariffs are vital to this country
53:22and tariffs have been used against us by China by every other country
53:27and all we're doing is using them to negotiate fair deals
53:32and as you know we made a fair deal with Japan
53:34we made a fair deal with all of Europe
53:36the European Union
53:37we made a fair deal with South Korea
53:40these are countries that were taking so much money away from us
53:44not sustainable
53:46and now we're taking in hundreds of billions and even trillions of dollars
53:51if this country is not allowed to have tariffs
53:54if this country is not allowed to have the president of the United States
53:57negotiate on behalf of it with tariffs
54:01we are put in a position where we're going to be a third world country
54:06we can't let that happen
54:08I think it's the most important case that we're going to have for many many years to come
54:12one of the most important cases we've ever had
54:14with tariffs we're a rich secure country
54:18without tariffs we're a laughing stock
54:20we'll be a laughing stock
54:22and I don't want to have anything to do with that
54:24thank you very much
54:25thank you
54:26thank you
54:27thank you very much
54:29thank you
54:36I'm you
54:37thank you
54:50thank you
