Congressman proposes second international airport in Cebu
Cebu 5th District Rep. Duke Frasco calls for the creation of another international airport in Cebu to strengthen the province’s infrastructure and disaster preparedness. Frasco said on Oct. 22, 2025 that the recent magnitude 6.9 earthquake highlighted the risk of relying solely on the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. The congressman proposed Sogod town in northern Cebu as the ideal site for a new international airport. He said its location within his district was strategic not just for safety, but also for economic development, as the project could attract businesses and boost local economy.

00:30So, kung sana i-restore po ang aming proposed budget to 2.2 billion pesos.
00:37Dahil sa nangyari po ngayon 2025 na nagaroon po kami ng budget po at hihilan lamang po ang programa, proyekto ang may patupad namin.
00:46At hindi po masyadong naramdaman ng ating mga kapatid na patungo po.
00:51Kaya sana po, next year, mas damami po yung programa at serviso para na rin po sa ating mga kapatid na patungo.
01:00Tukol po sa kanilang edukasyon, sa health services, lahat po dapat ng basic services ay accessible sa ating mga kapatid na patungo.
01:09Maraming salamat po at sana po ang panawagan namin ay dingin ninyo na i-restore ang budget po ng NCIP to 2.2 billion pesos.
