Marcos pledges financial aid to quake-hit areas in Cebu

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., during his visit to northern Cebu on Oct. 2, 2025, pledges immediate financial assistance from the Office of the President to aid quake-hit communities. The President committed P50 million to Cebu Province, while P20 million each was allocated for Bogo City, San Remigio, and Sogod. In addition, P10 million each was pledged to Bantayan, Daanbantayan, Madridejos, Santa Fe, Tabogon, Tabuelan, and Medellin to support relief, recovery, and rehabilitation efforts. The funds aim to help local governments provide emergency relief, restore infrastructure, and support displaced families after the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Cebu on the night of Sept. 30, displacing over 65,000 families and causing widespread damage.

00:00I was living in a few hours, and I was living in an infrastructure damage.
00:12And I was living in an infrastructure damage.
00:14And I was living in a city hall, so that was an effect.
00:22We are very hard to find out that we are not able to do this,
00:28but we are not able to do this with the displaced families
00:34because we are not able to do this in the evacuation centers.
00:38So, what we have done is to put our tents on the tent
01:03And we will then, kung saan nilalagay yung gagawa ng tent city,
01:23But yung we can announce, yung nang buwan, yung kuryente,
01:28I am assured by the Department of Energy Secretary, Secretary Sharon,
01:34na galing that we are doing,
01:36we'll have electricity complete for the entire city by the end of today.
02:14So that's, those are the, tapos nakapag-re-release kami,
02:18ng konting tulung, both from the Office of the President,
02:21yung aking, the amounts that I enumerated earlier,
02:26both from the Office of the President,
02:28and in the form of LGSF, or Local Government,
02:32sa Local Government Support Fund.
02:35In the amounts of 150 million for the province,
02:4075 million for the other towns,
02:43and maybe smaller amounts for those that, depending on the need.
02:47And I assured all of our local executives that this is not,
02:54hindi ito minsanan lang,
02:56hindi dito, pata naman isipin nito,
02:58na pata naman isipin nito, tapos na lahat.
03:00We will continue to monitor,
03:03we will continue to coordinate with the leaders,
03:06the local leadership,
03:08to make sure that maganda ang taklo ng ating rehabilitation,
03:13and all the support na pinipigyan natin.
03:18We are providing, I don't think,
03:20sikuro hindi ko na pinakulitin,
03:22but again, we are providing for all of those who have been displaced,
03:43And we are, I would like to assure everybody,
03:50na kung hindi tayo,
03:52basics na muna,
03:54hindi tayo maubusan ng pagkain,
03:57hindi tayo maubusan ng tubig,
04:00para sa ating mga,
04:01sa ating mga laging ibang.
04:03Minamadali na lang natin,
04:05ang kanilang magiging,
04:06kung saan sila,
04:07para naman may masinugan sila,
04:09hindi sila na,
04:11dahil marami,
04:13tama rin naman,
04:13natatasok na mumalik sa building.
04:17So,
04:18mas gusto nila,
04:20dito sila sa labas.
04:22So, yun ang nisusunda natin.
04:23Yun ang kanilang pagkustuhan,
04:25yun ang nating susunda.
04:26So, that's why,
04:27our proposal is a 10 city.
04:29So, this ongoing recovery program,
04:33will continue until
04:35we are satisfied
04:37na lahat ng naapektuhan
04:40ay nabigyan na
04:41ng mga pasamping,
04:44kinakain na may
04:45kinutulungan na,
04:47kinutulungan na,
04:48yung mga commercial enterprise
04:51ay dumatang na.
04:52That's the important part.
04:54That's the important part.
05:24Ashton,
