00:00My heroes and my icons, if you come to the headquarters of my party, there will be a big photograph of Nelson Mandela.
00:11We follow your struggle and we admire your strengths and your struggle for freedom and democracy.
00:24We would like to strengthen this relationship to enhance this.
00:34We are both big countries of the south, we join BRICS and we want to see more closer relationship.
00:54We consider South Africa to be a strategic partner in Africa.
01:04You are a great leader in Africa and I think Africa is the future rising economy and rising continent.
01:12Once again, welcome and let this be the beginning of a stronger relationship between South Africa and Indonesia.
01:29Thank you.
01:30I invite Your Excellency to begin your remarks.
01:34Thank you.
01:35Thank you, Your Excellency, President Subianto, Honourable Ministers and Ambassadors and Distinguished Gentlemen and Ladies.
01:53It is a real honour for us to be here today.
01:57We regard this as a very important visit by South Africa to Indonesia.
02:10We'd like to thank you for honouring us with such a high-level state visit.
02:17And we don't take that for granted, we see it as a very good indication of the importance that you ascribe to our relationship as South Africa and Indonesia.
02:36So I'd like to really thank you for the very warm welcome that you have extended to us.
02:42And we congratulate you on the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference.
02:53The Bandung Conference in 1955 was a great inspiration and a source of encouragement to the leaders of our liberation struggle who were present there.
03:09For all these years, for all these years, the people of South Africa found a steadfast ally in Indonesia,
03:19which consistently supported the struggle against apartheid.
03:27We will forever remain grateful for the support and the solidarity of the people of Indonesia.
03:39We look forward to working closely with Indonesia and all other BRICS countries and partner countries on shared priorities,
03:52such as driving much-needed global reforms.
03:58The BRICS Economic Partnership also provides a great potential to support development and transformation in our countries.
04:08And we encourage the deepening of Indonesia's participation in all BRICS structures,
04:18particularly in the BRICS Economic Partnership.
04:22This could also be a catalyst for the growth of bilateral economic relations between our two countries,
04:29which we look forward to.
04:31Today's meeting brings together key ministers from both our countries,
04:39including those ministers that deal with matters that have to do with trade and industry and defence and agriculture as well.
04:52From our side, this is a clear demonstration of our shared commitment to deepening cooperation between the two countries.
05:03This engagement takes place at a very important time in our bilateral relations.
05:13This year, South Africa is honoured to hold the presidency of the G20,
05:20and we appreciate Indonesia's representation and contribution to the G20.
05:27We are especially pleased that your excellency will participate in the G20 Leaders Summit in Johannesburg later this coming month.
05:40And we must say that Indonesia's presence at the G20 is so key and important as it lifts the stature of the G20,
05:53particularly when countries like your country and South Africa,
05:58key countries in the global south,
06:01participate in such fora and begin to advocate for the important role that is played by countries in the global south
06:14that stand for good trade relations, investments, and economic progress amongst them.
06:25So we would like to see that happening.
06:28And to this end, we want to encourage you to deploy, as you said in our bilateral and our tete-ate,
06:39ministers who will come to South Africa to see what opportunities there are in South Africa.
06:46And similarly, our presence here should also lead to that.
06:51So we want to see a mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries.
06:59As we do have a lot in common, but more importantly, a lot in common,
07:05that we should have to eliminate the challenges that our people are having.
07:12Challenges such as lack of employment,
07:16and challenges such as poverty and inequality.
07:21These are the challenges that we need to address.
07:25And we would like that as we address this,
07:29we do retain a keen participation of those people who have been excluded from the economy.
07:37And by participation, I mean a big way in which they can participate.
07:42So, President, we truly welcome this opportunity.
07:48It's welcomed, and we know that the relations between our two countries are warm,
07:55and we continue to want to see them getting warmer and warmer,
08:01so that we can continue trading in a much more substantive way,
08:07and expand the trade and investment between our two countries.
08:12So, this is what we would like to see happening.
08:17And I thank you, therefore, and wish Indonesia the very best.
08:22And similarly, I know that you wish South Africa the very best in every way possible.
08:28Thank you so much.
08:30Thank you.
08:31Thank you for your opening remarks.
08:39Your Excellency,
08:41we are committed to
08:44enhancing this relationship,
08:49and I will immediately send a delegation to South Africa.
08:55I will immediately send a delegation to South Africa.
08:58I will also send a delegation to South Africa.
