00:00I believe y'all want it to be honest.
00:04Keep the streets safe.
00:09And battle 24-7.
00:13In the war on crime.
00:19It is what it is, isn't it? We find them, we lock them up.
00:24Coming up.
00:26It crashed on the 8.3 towards Northampton.
00:28A man home for a missing dangerous driver.
00:32Oh, I really want to find him.
00:35Hey, please, don't you?
00:37A container and call-out with firearms and the dock unit.
00:43And...
00:47A lucky escape from a roundabout rail.
00:50What's happened this evening?
00:52We're just having a walk.
00:58Flying solo in the south of the county is interceptor Charlie Brown.
01:12This afternoon's mission is to track down a Mercedes with a marker.
01:16So he's plotting off for a roundabout stakeout.
01:20Quite recent intel that suggests that the vehicle is used by an organised crime group.
01:27And what this crime group do is either purchase or create fake documents like driving licences and certificates of insurance.
01:34And so we'll try and support the vehicle as it should pass from the left.
01:41And get it stopped and speak to the occupants.
01:45According to the latest ANPR camera hit, the grey Mercedes should be passing any second.
01:51There it is.
01:58Right on time.
02:04With off the mark, the target is soon in sight.
02:06So it will be the Mercedes in lane one.
02:12What we'll do is try and display the follow me sign.
02:19Moving in front of the Merc in his marked Volvo, Charlie monitors the driver in his mirrors.
02:26If the driver has something to hide, he might not play ball.
02:38Reaching a roundabout, Merc Man undertakes and makes a break for it.
02:44It's going to be a proper one-one. I think I've got a vehicle failing to stop.
02:48A43 south.
02:49Rerouting onto the A43, it's foot-to-the-floor time.
02:56The vehicle looks one-up and adult mail.
03:00Since this was only meant to be a friendly check on driving documents, control need to give the go-ahead for a pursuit.
03:08Confirm, lift wrist level, please.
03:12Wrist medium currently due to the speed.
03:15One, one, five. Traffic remains light.
03:20Yes, yes, all flies continue.
03:24Charlie started out in the force control room.
03:27Now he's a pursuit-trained advanced driver.
03:30And although this might be his first solo pursuit...
03:34One, one. We are off, off, off.
03:37We're Silverstone Village on the offside. Wait.
03:41He remains as cool as a cucumber.
03:45Temporarily, high risk, wrong way around the roundabout.
03:49Back to medium.
03:51We are Godford Road toward Silverstone.
03:56With an immediate left, left, left at the junction. Wait.
03:59The dangerous Merc driver is running risk after risk.
04:04Towards Abthorpe.
04:06Vehicle overtaken on the opposite side of the road.
04:10Before recklessly going the wrong way down the carriageway at 80 miles an hour.
04:15Up from 40, aborted, aborted.
04:18He's travelling south on the north at 43, continuing towards Brackley of Abandoned.
04:25Head-on collision at this speed could have lethal consequences.
04:30Just to confirm the feel of tent lights and sirens off and I've stopped.
04:36Within seconds...
04:40A fellow interceptor on the A43 makes a shocking call.
04:44There's just been a big RTC on the A42.
04:47Is it a super rain mark they were chasing?
04:50Yes, yes.
04:52It's crashed on the A43 towards Northampton.
04:55Big RTC.
05:00Dash cam from the other unit captures the moment the Mercedes crashes into the central reservation.
05:05Leaving debris rolling across the road.
05:16As the other unit crosses over the carriageway, they also witness the aftermath.
05:24Uh...
05:26Lane's closed.
05:28I'm sorry, mate.
05:30Someone's got out of there.
05:32The driver is AWOL.
05:36I'm... I'm amazed.
05:38I'm absolutely...
05:40amazed.
05:42The pursuit couldn't have continued.
05:44That was...
05:45He's obviously putting his life and other road users at such risk.
05:49All for what?
05:51We...
05:52The concern, though, as well, obviously, as is our main role in the police, is to preserve life and limb, and if he's injured, we obviously have the duty of care to obviously find him.
06:05Oh, goodness.
06:08By the state of the road, and the car, it's a miracle the driver has walked away.
06:14Are you happy I'll go and have a look for him?
06:18Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:19See you later, bye. Thank you.
06:24Every available unit are joining the search for the potentially injured suspect.
06:29The obvious route, from where he's clapped, he's going up the bank on the northbound side.
06:35Interceptors think the driver could have gone to ground in the surrounding village of Silverstone.
06:41But for how long will he be able to evade capture?
06:45Oh, I really want to find him!
06:46Get in!
07:02Near Silverstone, Charlie Brown located a grey Mercedes allegedly linked to organised crime.
07:08Speed.
07:10One, one, five.
07:12The dangerous driver at the wheel sped off the wrong way down the A43.
07:17Often, aborted, aborted, aborted.
07:19And within seconds...
07:21We've just been a big RTC on the A43.
07:25...crashed and fled the scene.
07:28Now the interceptors are searching for the suspect, who could be seriously hurt.
07:33And there's a new lead.
07:35Yes, we went down there.
07:37You're welcome.
07:41Little London Road.
07:43He's led down in the past few minutes, the public has said.
07:52The tip-off steers the search toward a large farm near mine.
08:00Hello, it's the police!
08:01Needle in a haystack doesn't cover it, but every possible hiding place needs to be explored.
08:12Sadly not.
08:13Do we obviously want to find him to arrest him for what he's done, but his welfare as well?
08:25If he is carrying some injuries, you wouldn't think he's got very far, but then he's still probably wearing his, erm, adrenaline cloak, and that'll all still be pumping through his body at the minute.
08:46Reinforcements are arriving to bolster the search.
08:53It's now a full-scale manhunt with dog handler Dan Bradley Brophy tracking through the fields.
09:00So he's carried on that way around sounds a bit.
09:06Plus, the police helicopter is flying in.
09:11What direction of travel should we be looking for him, please?
09:15While search teams on the ground and on high keep looking, Charlie has been called back to the crash site.
09:29There's not much left at the front of the Merc, but officers have made a discovery at the back.
09:38Having a cannabis nursery of 62 plants on board could be one of the reasons for the disappearing act.
09:45Whether he's on his way to a grow house, maybe, somewhere to go and plant and then grow them more.
09:52I think he'll be somewhere along the cultivation chain.
09:56We might not have him, but we've got what he cares about.
10:02Magic.
10:04But it's not over yet.
10:06There's an update from the search team.
10:08They've got sight of him, let's go.
10:10Fences have spotted a male that matches a description.
10:16Pop up from a hedge line along the carriageway.
10:20So now everyone is spinning back around.
10:23I want to get him now.
10:24The last known location of the suspect was near these horse stables.
10:31Can I go up to that fence up there? Is it alright?
10:34It's really wet.
10:36I'll risk it to find him, thank you though.
10:38OK.
10:39You might need wellies and waders for this job.
10:43Now running again, back towards the trees, climbing over a fence.
10:47There's a fresh sighting.
10:49Charlie is going in.
10:52Oh mate, this sinks really, really bad.
10:56Once he's knee deep in a boggy field, the team get the update they've been hoping for.
11:01I think it's going to be good.
11:04You can go. You can go.
11:06Do it up.
11:07All good.
11:09The runaway driver has been found.
11:12All good.
11:14Very, very good work by everybody.
11:21Other than being soaking wet, covered in mud and a few scratches, he seems to be in fine feckle.
11:27That's right there.
11:28It's Nick for dangerous driving, dealing cannabis, and driving without a license or insurance.
11:37The weed wagon he's wiped out doesn't even belong to him.
11:41I've been in shallower lakes than this.
11:46We got covered in, I've no idea what for the price of it, but I'm very happy.
11:51No one's come injured as a result.
11:53He's a dangerous driver, taken off the roads.
12:00We've recovered some drugs as a result.
12:03Yeah, really good teamwork from everyone all around.
12:08Oh, Christ.
12:11Back on dry land.
12:15Any luck?
12:16Yes, we got him.
12:17Oh, fantastic.
12:19The sign for a quick boot wash, then it's over to custody to meet their man.
12:23Why is it so difficult to call someone in your language?
12:24Why is it so difficult to stop when you're told to do so by the police?
12:25We'll never know, will we?
12:26Because I don't have a driving license.
12:27That's it.
12:28Who's thought was that?
12:29Was it you were in the battle when you said you were following me?
12:30Yeah.
12:31Yeah, you were.
12:32I'm fine.
12:34I should have started.
12:35He's just admitted to me in custody that he was the driver of the vehicle, asking me why I was asking him to follow me into the services.
12:56So, it's as good as a confession, and we will look to charge and remind him, hopefully, get him before the next available court.
13:09The running man found in a muddy field was convicted of driving dangerously, driving without a license or insurance, and dealing cannabis.
13:18And he won't be able to outrun his sentence, as he was locked up for nine months and banned from the roads for over 16 months.
13:26As well as reacting to revolving situations like the manhunt, the interceptors are also expertly trained at coming together as a team for pre-planned tactics.
13:45The operations department, which is traffic, firearms and the dog section, we do rely on each other.
13:52Putting a containment on a house, for instance, we always think about our colleagues as much as our own position.
13:59So, teamwork for us is key.
14:01Early doors on a Saturday morning.
14:15Dog handler Steed Knight is blue-lighting to a job with the firearms team.
14:22Three men visited an address, one with a machete, one with a baseball bat.
14:29Third male, it's unknown if he was armed or not.
14:33It's just gone half past eight.
14:35It's not your typical Saturday morning start.
14:41CCTV operators are tracking the allegedly armed group, who have jumped in a car and travelled back to a house in Kettering.
14:48The hope is we're going to send the unmarked unit past to confirm the vehicle and an address that's possibly linked to it.
14:59Once that's been established, the marked units will be called round and it'll be a containment and call-out.
15:06So, in other words, contain the people within the address and call them out one by one.
15:13Good boy.
15:15Good lad.
15:18Due to the threat of lethal weapons like machetes, a large team of firearms cops are responding.
15:25It says we're just pulling up to it now.
15:27Body cam rolling, armed interceptors in an unmarked car, scope out the target address.
15:38Yeah, there's nobody in the vehicle team, if you just get yourself settled then it'll be time to call out of the address.
15:44Marked firearms units and Steve move in.
15:48Right, we're just coming into where the vehicle is.
15:51They're nearly ready to begin the contain and call-out operation.
16:01Good lad, wait.
16:03The elite team are trained to prepare for the unexpected.
16:08I'll please show you out!
16:10Get out!
16:12A suspect appears.
16:13Come out of the address now!
16:15Thanks to lightning quick reactions from the firearms team.
16:21Walk that way!
16:23Walk that way!
16:25The potentially armed suspect instantly has assault rifles, baton guns and taser trained on him.
16:31Continue, mate.
16:33Stop there. Get on your knees for a minute, mate.
16:37Not to mention the added deterrent of Steve with five-year-old German shepherd, Blue.
16:41Good lad.
16:42Good boy.
16:43Good boy.
16:44There should be two more of a gun to this chap.
16:46All the mosquitoes.
16:51Watch him. Watch him. Good lad.
16:57One in cuffs.
16:58Are you alright to pull him out and then I will get him out of the way and then we'll...
17:02I can see that.
17:04I can see two inside of the bat.
17:06The team continue the call-out.
17:08Come this way! Out now!
17:09Out now!
17:10Watch him so we can go through and say you've been in.
17:12Yeah, you just take your paper.
17:13I'll go take them.
17:14I'll go take them.
17:17Stop there!
17:18They've been in front row.
17:21Send him to them.
17:23Watch him.
17:26He looks really bad.
17:28You're sorry, you can take them.
17:30Two out. One more person.
17:32One more person.
17:33Suspect two is compliant.
17:35Our police! Go to the front door!
17:38But Suspect three, who could be armed...
17:41Matt is in the back of the address kitchen.
17:43...doesn't seem to be in a hurry.
17:45You! Come out now!
17:46I'm out now!
17:49That should do the trick.
17:51He's coming to the front now.
17:54Stay there! Stay there!
17:55Listen to my colleagues!
17:56Look at me.
17:57Walk this way.
17:58Slowly.
17:59Take a...
18:00Stop.
18:01Turn around.
18:02Place hands and swallow your back.
18:03Take one again.
18:04Put you this way, okay?
18:06Yeah, I'll go.
18:07Do you see what I'm sitting there, mate?
18:08No, no, no, no.
18:09There's a two, no, no.
18:10Okay.
18:12Three suspects safely in cuffs.
18:18A textbook, contain and call out.
18:21So we had reports that people in this vehicle...
18:24Okay.
18:25...have been linked to, er, being in possession of...
18:28...a baseball bat and a bladed article.
18:30Alright?
18:31And that's why you were being detained for that purpose.
18:33Okay.
18:34Alright?
18:35Alright, that's fine.
18:36We'll go and do the nice thing.
18:37Is there a dog in the house?
18:38We're not going to do anything to harm your dog.
18:40Alright, we'll make sure it's in the house.
18:41You just shut...
18:42...talk him for five minutes.
18:43Just shut up for it, yeah?
18:44Just be quiet.
18:45Just keep him off, sir.
18:47Some of the blokes seem a little cagey.
18:50Got anything on you at all, mate?
18:51Nothing at all, mate.
18:52Let's face that way.
18:53Didn't I?
18:54No blokes out.
18:55No one come out with it, no?
18:56No.
18:57Enough.
18:59Enough.
19:00Hey.
19:01Come here.
19:02Come here.
19:03The trio are taken in for questioning.
19:05Police dog Blue's work here is done.
19:10Blue.
19:11Cut.
19:12Good lad.
19:13Good lad.
19:14Stay.
19:15Good lad.
19:16Good boy.
19:18However, the operation is far from over.
19:21The initial report said three or four males, so what the firearms team now are conducting
19:28a deliberate search of the property, making sure there's nobody hidden in there.
19:33Right.
19:34Show me the magic.
19:35Deliberate search.
19:36Right.
19:37Show me the magic.
19:38Deliberate search.
19:39They such me.
19:40Alire.
19:42Yes.
19:43HeyMP!
19:44You didnt know what they were doing?
19:54In a finely tunnel tactic.
19:58Clear right.
19:59Armed officers move through the house.
20:00the house. Clearing each room one by one. There's no one else in the property. Only two pet dogs.
20:21If we leave you two down here to do downstairs we'll go and do upstairs. There's nothing
20:25blaringly obvious. While the team turn their attention to searching for weapons.
20:34Hello. I've got to check see if you've got some food and water. Dog's best friend Nighty is on hand to
20:40check on the pet's welfare. Yeah I think you are thirsty after all that shouting.
20:48In Steve's 20 years on the front line his proudest police moment is joining the dog section.
20:54But even without a canine companion by his side
20:59he's a dab hand at sniffing out potential evidence.
21:04Is it the handle or the? It's the handle of the pickaxe tape and a snooker cube.
21:11That'll probably be it then wouldn't it? If that's the case then there is a pickaxe
21:16type object here albeit minus the axe on the end of it. We'll seize that then and we'll cover that.
21:24They haven't found any edge weapons but what we have found a cricket bat, a pickaxe stave and part of
21:32the pool queue. So all those items have been seized because they could be relevant. People see things
21:39you know in the heat of the moment and think it's one thing don't they? So that's been seized. The house is
21:43cleared locked up. Dogs have been fed and watered, full secure. Job done. By half nine on a Saturday
21:52morning they're getting back on the road and Steve is happy with Blue's performance.
21:56Because of how dynamic that job was poor lad didn't get to have a ball as a reward so he's worked
22:06really hard for it and in his little mind he's got nothing for it so we're going to give him a
22:12a run out. He'll have a couple of balls and chocks. Suspects one and two were convicted of using
22:20violence to enter a property and public order offences. They were each given a 12-month
22:27community order and had to pay £199 in victim surcharge and costs. Suspect one was also guilty
22:35of having an offensive weapon in a public place and the pool queue was seized. No legal action was
22:42taken against suspect three. Yes, good lad. And police dog Blue went home happy. Yes, good boy. Good boy.
22:57Coming up. You need to blow, not stop. The breathalyser causes some bother. You understand the concept of
23:03blowing? Yeah. And... Oh, there, there. That was it. Want to stop for no insurance? End in a Porsche Taycan
23:11take away. Put the intel marker on the case. It's 105 ground. Bye.
23:346-4-0. Apparently it sounds like they're being concerning but they can't see any fire.
23:396-4-0. Interceptors Sandra Payne and Chris Lark are responding to a Grade 1 emergency.
23:48We've got reports of a single vehicle RTC up by the very north extremities of the county.
23:54It's driven into the centre of a roundabout. There's question marks over the driver being drunk or under
24:02the influence of something. But we'll head up there, see if we can get a hold of him and see what the story is.
24:07Eyewitnesses at the scene are speaking to the driver.
24:11The male was slurring his words asking, don't call the police. Can you give me a lift?
24:15He has a bruised forehead. Two bruises above each eye.
24:19He had his top half.
24:21He had bloody chin in the top half.
24:23Temperatures are hitting lows of four degrees.
24:29They urgently need to check on the topless driver's welfare.
24:33Looking at this, it looks like the male's actually run off into fields.
24:39Reaching the crash site, Sandra gets the latest from a member of the public.
24:51Hello there.
24:53The driver has ploughed into a roundabout and embedded his car in the undergrowth.
25:10With a fire crew on scene to tackle the potentially smouldering wreckage...
25:13Yeah, I think we're just going to relocate.
25:17...the interceptor's priority is finding the driver, who could have critical injuries.
25:21Just doing that to get you right there.
25:27Oh, that'll be in there then.
25:29...one shirtless man wandering metres away from the roundabout wreck.
25:33Hello, fella.
25:36Hello, you all right?
25:37You need to stay where you are, buddy.
25:38All right.
25:39All right.
25:40I'm a bit worried about your welfare, cos you're on our avenue.
25:43Have I?
25:44Yes.
25:45Hiya.
25:46OK.
25:47Where's hurting on you at the moment?
25:49Nowhere.
25:50Nowhere?
25:51No.
25:53Why are you, um, not clothed?
25:57What's happened this evening?
25:58I'm just having a walk.
25:59You're just having a walk?
26:00Yeah.
26:01Sandra's not convinced by the topless rambler's story.
26:04At this moment in time, I'm going to arrest you on suspicion of section four driving while
26:08some fit through drink or drugs.
26:10Just turn around to the front for me.
26:12OK?
26:13Cos I want to make sure that you...
26:15I'm not aggressive at all.
26:16No.
26:17I want to make sure that you're fitting well, and we need to go through a breath test procedure
26:19on the roadside, and smell alcohol on your breath.
26:22Let's come get you sat in the car for the time being.
26:24Just mind this step.
26:28Nearly a fifth of all deaths on UK roads stem from collisions involving drunk drivers.
26:35Once this suspect is sitting comfortably, he'll be put to the test.
26:39Shall I sit in there?
26:40Just take a seat in there for me, buddy.
26:42Mind your head.
26:43Ow.
26:46From advanced driver, TPAC and Stinger train to family liaison officer and even drone pilot,
26:53you name it.
26:56Interceptor of 24 years, Sandra has done it.
27:00You need to blow, not suck.
27:03No.
27:04That's not long enough.
27:05It's fair to say she's carried out hundreds of breath tests in her career.
27:09Deep breath in, and seal your lips around the tube, and blow.
27:12No, don't block it.
27:14Don't block it.
27:15You're not blowing into the machine.
27:17More than enough to know when someone is not towing the line.
27:20Listen, there's no breath flow going through that tube, so you're blocking it with your tongue.
27:24I've got asthma, so I'm trying to blow.
27:26That is not a reason not to blow into the machine.
27:28I'm trying to blow.
27:29I'm trying to blow.
27:30Deep breath in.
27:31Long, continuous breath into the machine.
27:33Blow.
27:35No, not long enough, not hard enough.
27:38Attempt three isn't a success, nor is attempt four.
27:43You're not helping yourself.
27:45I'm trying to blow.
27:47Attempt five.
27:48You understand the concept of blowing?
27:50Yeah?
27:51Blow.
27:52Or attempt six.
27:55What, what do you want from me?
27:57I've been blowing through the tube.
27:59Sandra has the patience of a saint.
28:02Right, listen to me.
28:03What?
28:04Open your mouth, seal your lips around the tube,
28:07do not block the tube with your tongue, and blow.
28:10Okay.
28:13You're not blowing.
28:15On the ninth breathtakingly bad attempt, they're calling it.
28:19He's arrested for failing to provide.
28:22I'm pretty cold.
28:23Can I have a jumper, please?
28:24I'm afraid we don't carry spare jumpers.
28:27Not very good, is it?
28:29I'll certainly go and get you a space blanket to warm you up.
28:32There's nearly a repeat performance with the drug wipe test.
28:36Just stick your tongue out for me.
28:38Bit further.
28:40Further.
28:41Open your mouth and stick your tongue out.
28:44But Sandra manages to bag a sample of saliva.
28:48You could be doing, like, better things in your life.
28:50Like, do you know what I mean?
28:51What, dealing with drunk drivers who are smashing into roundabouts?
28:54I'm not, I'm not smashing into roundabouts.
28:56And tucks the suspect into the back of their car with a space blanket.
29:03Is there anything else that's hurting on you at the minute?
29:06I didn't raise one hand and I got punched in the face by a policeman, but...
29:11Okay, that didn't happen.
29:13I don't know, I feel like it did happen, but...
29:16If that's what you want to say, that's what I want to say.
29:19The suspect passes the drug wipe test.
29:23While he's safely detained and warming up,
29:26Chris turns his attention to the utter carnage at the crash scene.
29:31We've got exposed electrics on this roundabout,
29:34so can we put the call in for Street Doctor to come out, please?
29:38He's actually managed to take the entire streetlight,
29:41still upright, about 15 metres,
29:44across the carriageway onto the roundabout itself.
29:49The mangled BMW is completely destroyed.
29:53He's clearly carried some considerable speed into the roundabout.
29:58To have taken a streetlight out and sheared it straight off,
30:02the whole bonnet's bent in.
30:04Lucky he's not injured other people or had passengers on board
30:07that have been seriously injured or hurt.
30:09For him to be just walking and talking with minor head injuries,
30:12he's an incredibly lucky young man.
30:14Northamptonshire's luckiest man is still talking.
30:18And trying a change of tack.
30:21Someone taking my car.
30:23Excuse me.
30:25I've already told you I'm not willing to discuss it any further.
30:28Are you under arrest or suspicion of driving it?
30:30It's really someone taking my car.
30:31It's really someone taking my car.
30:35Although there is a silver lining to his behaviour.
30:38At least he's got the ability to be annoying,
30:41rather than being unconscious,
30:43needing medical attention from the fire crew for myself,
30:46waiting for ambulances to get him here,
30:48and potentially trying to just keep him alive.
30:50I've got to put my car there too aggressively.
30:53OK, that's fine.
30:54That's not going to prevent you getting out of the car, is it?
30:57This is all being recorded.
30:58You're making yourself look stupid.
31:00Just get out of the car.
31:02I'm just having a good time.
31:04Yeah.
31:06What that's in for is making me feel like a bit of an alien.
31:09Without anyone to beam him up,
31:11Chris will be ferrying the suspected drink driver to hospital.
31:15Use your body heat to keep you warm.
31:17Once he's had a check-up,
31:21blood samples will be taken and tested for drink and drugs.
31:29Unsurprisingly, Northamptonshire's luckiest man
31:32didn't give a blood sample at hospital
31:34and later pleaded guilty for failing to provide.
31:37He was disqualified for driving for 30 months,
31:40ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work
31:43and fined £199.
31:47On average, there are 300,000 uninsured vehicles using the UK's roads every day.
32:01It's such a widespread issue that the insurance companies fund the Motor Insurance Bureau
32:09about £500 million a year to assist people that have been involved in collisions with uninsured vehicles.
32:15The bottom line is, it comes off every insurance premiums.
32:19So, the more uninsured cars we take off the road, the safer everybody is, and the smaller every insurance premiums would be, in theory.
32:27When's that hit?
32:38A minute ago.
32:40Interceptors Michael Hollowell and, in the driver's seat, Charlie Ward, are investigating an odd ANPR camera hit nearby.
32:47The marker here says, yeah, it's got no insurance.
32:52On a Porsche Taycan?
32:54Yeah.
32:56I find that really hard to believe.
32:58Not insuring a pricey Porsche would be unusual, but stranger things have happened.
33:03So, Charlie and Michael make their way to a bridge over the M1.
33:10I'll get out, cos it'll be easier.
33:13If it ever loads it.
33:15The perfect viewpoint to spot the all-electric grey Porsche Taycan as it passes underneath them.
33:20Instead of shining the torch directly at the driver's eyes, shining it behind the vehicles just to get a read on the number plates.
33:28It's quite hard to see them.
33:31Although I reckon I could spot some Porsche headlights coming towards me.
33:35It'd be good if I could spot it before he did.
33:40It's a two-horse race.
33:41That's it there. That was it. That's it there.
33:54We'll call that a draw.
33:57Yep. That was definitely it.
34:01Hitting the gas.
34:06Such distinctive rear tail lights.
34:09They get behind the potentially uninsured high-performance motor.
34:15Might start on.
34:16Yeah.
34:17Or don't know.
34:19Yeah.
34:20Just in case it fails to stop.
34:24Pulling in front of the Porsche, Michael lights up the follow me sign.
34:31Another intercept unit is also falling in behind,
34:33in case the suspect driver takes advantage of being able to hit 0-60 in under five seconds.
34:41It's dropped a long way.
34:44Why do they always do that?
34:46They just let off the gas, don't they?
34:49This is electric though, it's got no gas.
34:52Yeah.
34:53It's indicated left, so.
34:56Luckily, whoever is at the helm of the Porsche's first all-electric sports car,
35:00follows Charlie and Michael to the services.
35:06Hello sir, how are you?
35:08It seems to be a problem.
35:09So we've got information saying that it's not been insured for quite a long time.
35:13The driver and passenger have paid £2,000 to hire the valuable vehicle,
35:18and claim that insurance is included.
35:21Charlie takes a look at the documents.
35:24It's a rental agreement, doesn't it?
35:26I see it says insurance at the bottom,
35:30but the car's not showing up on any policies.
35:34That is a policy.
35:36What is that is?
35:37I'll have a read through.
35:38It's not a policy though, is it? It's a hire agreement.
35:42All car hire companies usually provide third-party cover as standard.
35:47If there's been a slip-up,
35:48the lads could find themselves in a tight spot,
35:51and the luxury rental car will be seized.
35:54A car like this?
35:55I mean, I know it's a 71 plate, but it's still an expensive car.
35:58It's £100, £105.
35:59That's all they are.
36:01The intel marker on things is £105.
36:04Blanky.
36:06After some more digging with control, it's not good news.
36:10Yeah, it's not been insured since the 11th of the 4th,
36:14which is a month.
36:1511th of April?
36:16Yeah.
36:18There's been...
36:20This is for an Audi A3.
36:22Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
36:24But this is what it would look like for this car.
36:26Yeah, but...
36:27What?
36:28This vehicle has not been...
36:29This vehicle has not been insured...
36:32at all, on any policies,
36:34since the 11th of April.
36:38Interceptors will be taking the Porsche off the road.
36:42Okay, pass the key over.
36:44No, there's no one slipping.
36:48And the driver could be facing a fine,
36:50as well as six points on his licence.
36:52You're going to be reported for driving no insurance.
36:55What?
36:56Like, if you can prove it, like, there is...
36:58Yeah, if you can prove that there's an insurance policy in place,
37:01then we won't take the ticket any further.
37:03We thought you were insured.
37:04No, no, I understand that.
37:06I do understand that.
37:08Whether these guys were innocent parties that have hired it,
37:11that might come out in the wash.
37:13But, yeah, it is pretty unusual,
37:15for a car of that value not to show up on an insurance policy.
37:18So, no matter whether it's a high-value vehicle such as this one,
37:21or a low-value £100 banger,
37:24we're just enforcing the law,
37:26and everyone gets treated the same.
37:29While the occupants wait in the services for a lift,
37:32all that remains is the delicate operation
37:35of getting the pricey Porsche on the back of a recovery truck.
37:40Oh, dear.
37:42Did you find the P button?
37:44The P button?
37:45Yeah, yeah.
37:46And then the off button.
37:50Well done.
37:51Well done, that man.
37:53Sure.
37:58The uninsured Taycan was taken off the road,
38:01but the case against the driver was later dropped at court.
38:10Still to come!
38:12A rookie mistake lands a driver in hot water.
38:16Why don't you stop being honest,
38:17before you just go to custody,
38:18because I'm getting sick of this.
38:19It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:20and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:22It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:23and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:24It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:25and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:26It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:27and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:31It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:32and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:33It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:34and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:38It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:39and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:41It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:42and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:44It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:45and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:47It's a busy Sunday night shift,
38:48and the radio is alight with incoming calls.
38:49On a moped.
38:50What's that job about?
38:55But as soon as interceptor Harrison Beverley
38:57starts blue lighting to one incident,
39:01his next job pulls out in front of him.
39:14After appearing to pull in,
39:15a minidriver changes their mind
39:17and veers back in front of Harrison's marked BMW.
39:24It's got its hazards on.
39:25It's going to pull over.
39:30They can barely stay in the right lane.
39:33Harrison calls it in.
39:36It's not stopping at the minute.
39:39The speed's only 3.5,
39:41and if it doesn't stop in the next ten seconds
39:43I have to call it, I've got to stop.
39:47In the nick of time, the driver pulls over.
39:52Roger.
39:53And stays over.
39:54I've just got a storage.
39:57Step out the car for us.
39:58Put your handbrake on.
39:59Put your handbrake on.
40:00Step out the car for me.
40:02They're not off to a good start.
40:04What was that about?
40:06Have you had a drink or something?
40:07Step out the car for me.
40:08Step out then.
40:09I'm not.
40:10I'm not.
40:11I'm not supposed to step out.
40:12OK, you're under arrest for penance off for a minute.
40:13You don't have to say anything.
40:14Mayhem defence.
40:15I'm about to stop.
40:16And if you do so, maybe good evidence.
40:17No need to stab the car for me, please.
40:20Queen van Harrison is highly skilled at detecting
40:23when someone isn't telling the whole truth.
40:26He's about to put this dodgy driver under pressure.
40:29Is it your vehicle?
40:32No, it's one of my best mates.
40:35Did you know you got it?
40:36Yeah, yeah.
40:37Have you got a full licence or provisional?
40:39Me?
40:40Yeah.
40:41I've got a full licence but I don't know the...
40:43Oh, you said you've got a full and full?
40:45No, the...
40:46Although the 18-year-old claims to have a full driving licence,
40:49he quickly coughs to not having any insurance.
40:53Who's that in the passenger seat?
40:54That's me mate.
40:56Is it his car?
40:57No, it's not his car.
40:58OK, so how do I know that this car hasn't been stolen?
41:01Er...
41:02Well, I wouldn't be afraid to drive it if it was stolen.
41:06But after a check on the lad's details,
41:08it turns out he would drive it without a full licence.
41:13You've got a provisional haven't you?
41:17What?
41:18You've got a provisional though, yeah?
41:20So why don't you stop being honest before you just go to custody
41:22because I'm getting sick of it.
41:23Oh.
41:25Things are rapidly going from bad to worse for this lying lad.
41:29Hello, my name's PC Beverley from the Rhodes Police team in Northlands.
41:32I'm with your vehicle at the Mini Cooper.
41:34And they could go downhill further if the Mini's mystery owner doesn't back up his story.
41:41Yeah, so what's the crack with it?
41:43Obviously, your mates have got it.
41:44Is it a case you generally didn't know?
41:46Or is it a case you want to make a report that it's been taken without your consent by your friends?
41:51His mate doesn't want to make a complaint.
41:54Your vehicle's now getting seized to Section 165 Road Traffic Act,
41:57which means it's no insurance because he's got no insurance to drive it.
42:01All I can say to you is don't give people permission to drive your vehicles.
42:07Very silly.
42:08It's going to cost the owner £192 to get the car back, plus another £26 for each day it's left in the yard.
42:18Whenever you're ready, just float to that tube, please.
42:23There's zero alcohol involved in tonight's display.
42:26It's a simple case of driving lessons needed.
42:30Well, I was going to stop, and then there was...
42:33I didn't really think it was safe to stop on that road, sort of thing.
42:36Obviously, I can see you've got your hazards on,
42:37but the fact that you pulled back into my path when I was going past,
42:40it nearly wiped me out.
42:41Yeah, I don't really, like, know, sort of thing.
42:45I sort of went to...
42:47Do you think the fact you don't know is because you haven't got a licence?
42:50No, I've been on the road for ages.
42:52I've ride motorbikes and everything, but I've pulled over...
42:54Yeah, but the fact that you've got a provision licence,
42:56you haven't proved you can pass your test, yeah?
42:58If we'd have squeezed against something, we'd have been nowhere to go.
43:03After some food for thought, Harrison de-arrests the teenager for failing to stop,
43:08and reports him for driving without a licence or insurance.
43:12I know it makes having a laugh.
43:14Yeah, nah, but...
43:15They have consequences, you know?
43:19One consequence they will face tonight is having to find a Lyft home.
43:23I think it's probably hit every single thing it can.
43:27It's dense everywhere.
43:30Mr Bump's motor comes complete with some questionable rules.
43:35I think just getting shut up and hold on, I think that sums it up to you, sir.
43:38Poor passenger, probably that's what he was thinking the whole time.
43:40Bye.
43:43The minidriver pleaded guilty to driving without a licence or insurance.
43:48He was ordered to pay £314 in fines and costs,
43:52and he received eight penalty points on his provisional licence.
43:56That's...
