00:30And then you meet someone who changes your life.
00:42And you feel that you don't even know who you are anymore.
00:46Isn't it funny how one little encounter can cleave off little pieces of your past,
00:53deform your memories and persona until you rethink your whole identity?
01:00And as you realize how foolish it all is,
01:05your laughter reverberates off the walls of your own darkness.
01:14Oh, okay.
01:15I'm gonna need more specifics.
01:18How about we try some word association?
01:21That sounds delightful.
01:24Accepted.
01:25That's a little tried, isn't it?
01:28Look, I'm only doing it to help you.
01:31Let's try this again.
01:34Accepted.
01:35My favorite stage.
01:44Okay.
01:47One more.
01:49And I need you to be serious for this one.
01:52Fate.
01:52You want to know something funny?
01:56I used to think of fate as evil.
01:59Predetermined, not by some higher power, no, but by the rules of human nature.
02:06Tonight, it's all change.
02:09What changed?
02:10Have you ever had the feeling that your entire life has been building towards this strong moment?
02:18Is that how you feel?
02:20Well, now, yes.
02:23Now I realize that all the battles, the bad days, the brutalities,
02:30it was all the hand of fate at work.
02:33So now you see fate differently?
02:36Oh, absolutely.
02:40Now I understand, there are no chance encounters.
02:45It was all meant to be.
02:47Everything leading up to whom I've met tonight.
02:53So that's someone special?
02:56Yes.
02:57And you might say it's changed everything.
03:01Everything?
03:02Absolutely.
03:02I mean, do you realize what a vile world is living?
03:08How lonely it is to wave through all that wretched filth on your own?
03:13It is kind of lonely, isn't it?
03:15Of course.
03:17Of course you understand.
03:20Even in a crowd of other screwballs,
03:22you're so lonely,
03:24you kick, crawl, yell, scream at the top of your lungs.
03:28No one cares.
03:31It's like you don't even exist.
03:34I feel...
03:35Sometimes I feel like I'm trapped on this path leading nowhere.
03:41It's just emptiness.
03:44Now...
03:44Now you feel like you've got someone by your side
03:48to share the journey with you.
03:50And how does that make you feel?
04:04I feel a drift,
04:07floating,
04:08like someone's pulled the stopper on my reality
04:11and I'm sucked down the drain into something new.
04:15It's all very exciting, really.
04:18I feel like I'musted.
04:24I'm fucked.
04:25I was so sleepy.
04:29I'm okay.
04:29I'm so sleepy.
04:31I'm too sleepy.
04:32I'm песkin.
04:34I'm so sleepy.
04:35I'm content,
04:36I'm so sleepy.
04:40I'mごаты reservoir.
04:42I want a word with your boss. Where is he?
05:01You ain't gonna kill me. You ain't gonna kill me!
05:04Do I look like Batman to you?
05:07Rethink your answer before I fill you up with lead.
05:09Downtown. His office. But you ain't gonna get him. He knows you're coming, freak.
05:21Ten thousand two hundred. Ten thousand three ten.
05:25Man! Thought you would've lost count by now.
05:29He's here! Get him!
05:33Run!
05:39Trust me. This is what I think.
05:46Luke, you should've left when you had a chance.
05:53You don't need to do this.
05:54You give your money.
05:56Guns. Weapons. Whatever you want.
05:58Please, I'll take a plane. Leave. Never show my face again.
06:02Anywhere you want. I'll go anywhere.
06:09Then we're out of here.
06:10Yes, I need to get these shoes off, but I'll keep my ball on.
06:13That sounds like a plan.
06:15Oh my god.
06:15What the hell?
06:19The sound. What do we do?
06:21He was just some guy?
06:34Why did you lie to Liam about not knowing Whit?
06:38I'm panicked. Okay? This is insane.
06:41Look, I get it.
06:42Tonight was a lot, but we can fix it.
06:45Liam will understand it was an honest mistake.
06:47No.
06:49I'm sorry, Juan.
06:51No, we stick to that.
06:53It's like you just said.
06:55Sadie, I really don't know about this.
06:57Listen to me, Stella.
06:59We'll go to college soon.
07:00We fess up.
07:02Who knows what they'll do?
07:04Hey, we could lose everything.
07:07Okay.
07:08You're about to pull up.
07:09You all ready?
07:11Okay.
07:11It's gonna be just like we processed the scene.
07:13It's all very normal.
07:14They'll ask you questions, get your statements.
07:17And, of course, no.
07:29Come on, come on, let's go.
07:37Hurry up.
07:38Crap.
07:38You ready?
07:39Crap.
07:41Come on.
07:42Crap.
07:43I thought we were meeting at the police station.
07:44Well, you were, but you never answered your texts.
07:47Another late night.
07:48When isn't it?
07:49It's freshman year, right?
07:50Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:51Here, let me give you a hand with some of the stuff.
07:54You know, we missed you at the rescue this weekend.
07:57Everybody's been asking about you, but don't worry.
07:58I've been blocking and tackling.
07:59You don't need a cover for me.
08:01I just needed, I need a little bit of space.
08:05But I'm doing a lot better.
08:07Yeah, yeah, of course.
08:07It's just, you know, it's your dad's birthday this weekend.
08:10It might be nice to be around some family.
08:12I'll be there.
08:14How's he doing with his birthday this year anyway?
08:16You know, I haven't seen him yet, but I'm sure that he's great.
08:19Come on.
08:19Sorry for the short notice.
08:21No, totally understandable.
08:22There was a new development.
08:24I mean, I did say that, right?
08:26Well, sure, yeah, you did.
08:28You did say that.
08:28Have you been in touch with Sadie's counsel?
08:30How's she, how's she doing?
08:32She's up to speed.
08:34Listen, I know this has been dragged out and you've been very patient,
08:38but the powers that be have shifted resources.
08:43Well, what does that mean?
08:45Kind of wants to move on.
08:47Bigger fish, bigger fry.
08:48Well, that is quite the development.
08:50But before your file can go into that file, I need your signature on this file.
08:56It's a final report of the night of.
08:58Give it a read.
08:59Let me know if anything seems off.
09:01On June 16th, CDU and Stella Walker returned to Geraldine Broussard's home
09:14and were confronted by an armed intruder in the midst of a robbery.
09:17There was a violent altercation and the intruder was injured from an errant gunshot produced by the intruder's firearm.
09:24At 11.30 p.m., the victims and William Walker called APD.
09:40The intruder managed to escape the scene of the crime.
09:44DNA at the scene of the crime and at the car matched and identified the intruder, Mr. Whit McCarthy.
09:50It was the determination of the ensuing investigation that the victims acted in self-defense.
09:57All good?
09:59Unless, uh...
10:00Unless...
10:02Well, you've been away a while, Miss Walker.
10:05Anything you'd like to add?
10:06Any reason you can come up with why the bungalow was targeted by a stranger?
10:16Do you mind if we take five?
10:18I'm okay.
10:20Really? I'm okay.
10:22Okay.
10:27I have nothing of to add here. I have played this night over so many times and...
10:33I stand by my statement. I never met him. I don't know why you broke it.
10:38Okay. Well, you can both consider this case closed. Just sign here.
10:49Simone, sir.
10:51I didn't plan our game plan. But a location change was exactly what you needed.
10:58Is that right?
11:00Look, I get that you're pissed,
11:02but I was right to erase that message.
11:04Because you're the arbiter of what's right, huh?
11:07It was a robbery gone wrong by a sick freak.
11:11Okay? That's all.
11:13So, just to revisit,
11:15you met Whit while being shady
11:17and then decided that we should lie about that.
11:20It's a little reductive.
11:21We both panicked.
11:22Sure.
11:24But then you took off on your big tour across the Southwest
11:27without any worsel of worry.
11:28Does that part sound right?
11:30I left because I was worried.
11:32For us.
11:33And I'm here now at your request, by the way.
11:36So?
11:37Look, you have to be honest with me, Sadie.
11:41We're in this together 100%,
11:43but I can't read your mind.
11:45What are you thinking?
11:49It doesn't make sense.
11:50Which part?
11:51All of it.
11:52Except for one.
11:54There's only one version that I can wrap my head around.
11:58An unfortunate coincidence.
12:02I get it.
12:05You're a Rollins, which means that you're family.
12:09And I hate to break it to you,
12:13but the nonsensical, terrifying scenario,
12:18that is always going to be the default.
12:21Whit targeted us for a reason.
12:23And now this message, it's connected somehow.
12:28So what's someone trying to tell us?
12:30Or at least you.
12:32Or saw us.
12:34Or watches the news.
12:37Wait.
12:38Wait.
12:38What about, um, your ex-friend,
12:40the one that we ran into at that same party?
12:42Well, no way.
12:43If we're being completely serious,
12:47the common denominator in all of this is you.
12:50I didn't send you a message.
12:52You know what I mean.
12:54You said Whit caught you dying and dashing.
12:58Isn't it possible that he was there for a reason,
13:00and then you unknowingly brought him here?
13:04Okay.
13:05So let's say Whit was there that night to meet me.
13:07Why?
13:10I'm a broke, parentless musician.
13:13No, we gotta think more recently.
13:16I haven't stayed in one place for more than a few nights.
13:19It's kind of already established that
13:20things we previously thought of as random
13:24were maybe not so much.
13:28The security said that they would check on the footage
13:30and follow up in 7 to 14 business days.
13:33How efficient.
13:34Yep.
13:34And it's not like there's anything super creepy happening either.
13:38And I got a couple of hits on a potential
13:40nice guy Uncle Mike.
13:42And one's close.
13:44In the grand scheme of all the nothing that we know,
13:46seems like an okay start.
13:48Should we check it out?
13:50Crap.
13:52Actually, scratch that.
13:54I promised my family I would help with the fundraiser at HQ.
13:57Okay, there's gotta be a busy college student card you can hold.
14:01I would, but Uncle Liam has been washing me like a hawk,
14:04and if I bail now, the others might think something's up too.
14:07I guess it wouldn't hurt to put in some time with Jerry while I'm here.
14:13So we go.
14:14Two hours max.
14:16We go.
14:17And we act normal.
14:18Always set.
14:19Is it?
14:20Is it?
14:20He's been sitting there for an hour.
14:33It's just a guy in his car.
14:37Normal's the word, Stella.
14:38We're about to have some company.
14:39Surprise!
14:40Surprise!
14:40Hey!
14:42What?
14:42Stella, you talk...
14:45Oh.
14:45Wait, what's the occasion?
14:48Oh, uh...
14:50Well...
14:50I had a few days free, and Stella desperately needed a wingman.
14:54I don't remember saying that.
14:55It was subtext.
14:57You need backup.
14:58Okay.
14:59Uh...
14:59You know, if something's wrong, you girls can always come to me.
15:05Right?
15:06No matter what.
15:07No judgment.
15:09I know.
15:11Okay.
15:24Enough of this.
15:26W-whoa, whoa, this is not the plan.
15:28This is a new, dumb, and possibly dangerous plan.
15:30We're at HQ.
15:31Nothing can happen.
15:32Just because it's the most safe, dumb option doesn't mean we should do it.
15:36Welcome to our first quarterly performance review.
15:41As you can see here...
15:43And deaths are coming in far below projections.
15:52We are really gonna have to turn this around.
15:58And by we, I mean you.
16:05Got that, Mr. Kushener?
16:08Just who are you?
16:11I'm the guy with the money.
16:14And the gun.
16:22So do you have anything else to contribute?
16:25I didn't think so.
16:35Meetings adjourned.
16:37Get out there.
16:40Move it along, big boy.
16:44Well, this should be interesting.
16:47All right, let's get this over with.
16:59Wait, wait, hold on, hold on.
17:01I know I'm the one that said to come here.
17:04He let me off the hook.
17:06And he...
17:06Okay.
17:08So if we just talk to your dad, what in the...
17:10Yeah, but he's alive.
17:11We'll get a slap on the wrist.
17:12Your dad, he'll understand.
17:14Exactly.
17:14My dad will understand.
17:17And maybe...
17:18I don't know.
17:19He'll go to jail.
17:20Whip made him...
17:22I do.
17:23But...
17:23No, you don't understand what it feels like to...
17:26Can we please?
17:31Okay.
17:33Okay.
17:34All right.
17:35Let's go.
17:35Let's go.
17:54I got into the age where I just genuinely don't...
18:05I don't care anymore.
18:06I know that I'm correct.
18:08And I know that he is wrong.
18:10And so I...
18:12I make it so easy to fall in love.
18:19So come give me a call and we'll fall into...
18:25I...
18:33I understand.
18:36You had a chance to let me die and you didn't take it.
18:41I bet right now you're wishing you had.
18:45I've killed...
18:46A lot of people.
18:48I brought the city to its knees.
18:52Crippled the police force.
18:53It is not even time to unwrap our presence.
18:55Remember children, this is a contact sport.
19:12Break his face.
19:16This... all this rage... all directed at me, and for what?
19:37You know, if you'd actually let me finish a sentence, you might learn something!
19:42You might learn that we're not so different!
19:46You just can't get it through your scalp!
19:55We both exist because of them!
20:00You just can't get it through your scalp!
20:09You just can't get it through your scalp!
20:18You just can't get it through your scalp!
20:25We called it just in time...
20:27You just can't get it through your scalp!
20:29Was it worth it?
20:30Getting put in here for some clout?
20:33You know-
20:34I was wondering the same thing myself!
20:36How is any of this my fault?
20:41Look, I hear you about so-called favoritism!
20:43Sorry, okay?
20:45But this?
20:46Tonight?
20:47You made a choice!
20:50I'm proud!
20:51I'm proud!
20:52I'm proud of my son on his graduation!
20:57I'm proud of the family!
20:58And I have to- I love you!
20:59That's enough out of me!
21:01That's enough out of me!
21:02I'm proud of my son on his graduation, I'm proud of the family, and I have to, I love
21:23you.
21:24That's enough out of me.
21:26How are you doing today?
21:30I'm exhausted, but I'm good, thank you.
21:34How are you doing today?
21:41How are you doing today?
21:45How are you doing today?
21:50How are you doing today?
22:05How are you doing today?
