00:00The fact that people have come on, have made an impact, there's a lot more talking football now
00:04about the use of subs and the way that they can make an impact, it's going to be vital isn't it
00:08for you, getting all that right and getting the most out of you, not just your team but your squad
00:13as well. We've always done it here, you know I don't see the point in putting somebody on with
00:20three or four minutes to go, you know if you're going to put them on you've got to give them
00:23an opportunity if they're going to change the game and there is an art of seeing the
00:30game out as well, so it's not being negative, it's just being professional and doing the
00:36right things. So we've always tried to give players the opportunity of having an impact
00:42on the game from their point of view and from a tactical point of view and I know Mikel Arteta
00:49said it and I think, I believe it's been the way for quite a while and I always keep going
00:56back Solskjaer and Sheringham, you know, Cole and York and all of a sudden warming up as
01:01Solskjaer and Teddy Sheringham coming onto the pitch. So to give other teams different things
01:10to think about. I was pretty strong in terms of my chat to the players that are not playing
01:20and not doing enough to put pressure on the players that are getting that opportunity,
01:23the players that have had that opportunity can't be entitled to assure, have to raise their
01:31standards and the impact of substitutions, you know when you come onto the pitch you've got
01:37to be ready and you've got to make a difference and I've got to say, I thought Andre Brooks
01:41was really good on Saturday when he come on. Jaro came on for his first minutes in a Sheffield
01:48United shirt. I believe people saw why we brought him into the football club, nice and calming
01:54influence. Knows the game. Danny coming on, onto the pitch. Shax made a good introduction for
02:07himself as well coming on and Harrison, you know, a player that has not reached the heights
02:14of last season's performances for one reason or the other and come out the team but when he
02:21when he stepped on the pitch I thought he was outstanding. He was one header late on where
02:27he was absolutely fully committed. Him and Gaki went up for a header and he showed he was all in
02:35which they all have to be to be part of this team.
02:38Does that example really back up what you're saying? The fact that Harrison might not have
02:42had the best start to the season. You've given Sam McCallum a couple of starts, he's got player of the match,
02:48he's somebody that's clearly put his hand up and now maybe he's bringing a little bit more out of Harrison.
02:53Yeah, I don't believe that was the case when I first took over. Players feeling sorry for
03:00themselves, a little bit disillusioned about what had gone off, got off to a bad start obviously.
03:05I think, you know, I talked about it, for me improved performances, results, we should have got four results
03:12out of the first four games, fine margins, little details but the reason is you've got to do a little
03:18bit more and there has to be that from an individual point of view, pressure, how to handle that and
03:27from a team point of view, it's not good enough and for me Saturday was by far and away the best team
03:37performance of the season against a dangerous and talented side. But does it have to be the
03:42platform for much more now? Well, it's got to be the standard, it's got to be the bare minimum, hasn't
03:47it? So we have to, you know, we have to set the bar high and not here to be the mate or pal them up.
03:57We have relationships with these players but the standard, it has to be set and we have to make sure
04:04that the players strive to reach those good standards that they have shown in the past here
04:12and they have shown in the past at their previous clubs that's brought them to this club.
04:20Jaff's second half was how he should be and yeah, it does take a little bit of time to settle in but
04:28fortunately we haven't really got a lot of time on that one as well, contradicting myself really.
04:35But, you know, we have to, from his point of view, from Mark McGuinness's point of view, Ben Mee's
04:40point of view, all the players, Samari's performance I thought was good. We're having to make some physical
04:48substitutions at the moment which is not ideal but his performance, City's performance I believe was the
04:56best of the best of the season as well. So yeah, it's a standard set. We'd like to get better
05:03through the season but if we can give that amount of everything in every department then
05:13I believe we can win some games of football.
