00:00Sabah and oil and gas contractors secured 2 billion ringgit worth of projects in 2024,
00:06a three-fold increase compared to levels before the state's collaboration with Petronas began
00:11four years ago. The partnership stems from the Commercial Collaboration Agreement,
00:16signed in December 2021 by Chief Minister Haji J. Noor, giving Sabah greater say,
00:22participation, and revenue sharing in the oil and gas sector.
00:25In a recent exclusive interview with FMT, SMJ Energy CEO Dionysia Kibat said
00:32the agreement has created new opportunities for local contractors.
00:55The signing of the CCA, because of all the policy has been pushed, right?
01:00We had the meetings, as I say. We pushed all the policy to come in.
01:05Then, glad to inform you that last year's record shows that it has increased from 600 million to 2 billion.
01:15She said the rise in project wins was driven by stronger policy support and local participation
01:21under the Oil and Gas Services and Equipment Subcommittee, which championed Sabahan involvement
01:26across the supply chain.
01:29Increase the capacity, the capability, but we make sure that there is no Alibaba, you know?
01:34You make sure that you need some intervention. It cannot be, you just say it out and then
01:40everybody will get it. No. There is a lot of hand-holding, in fact, yeah? So, it is also done
01:46by our segment, together with the SC4, yeah?
01:49In the first eight months of 2025 alone, Sabah-based contractors secured 1.53 billion ringgit in OGSE
01:56contracts, up from 613 million ringgit in 2021. The collaboration has also supported
02:03industrial projects such as East Steel Sabah's 31 billion ringgit steel complex and keeping
02:09solar's 10 billion ringgit glass plant in the Sabah Oil and Gas Industrial Park.
02:13The multiplier effect is a lot, yeah? But, um, even, not only the big one, even the small,
02:21small one. I think even the village surrounding that place, right, will have more, um, job opportunity.
02:29You can bring back, um, you know, people from outside to come and work, and then they have
02:35more exposure.
02:37Danish Rajareza, FMT.
