झारखंड से आदमी ही नही, हाथी भी पलायन कर रहे हैं. इसका खुलासा वाइल्ड लाइफ इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ़ इंडिया की रिपोर्ट में हुआ है. झारखंड में 2017 में हथियों की संख्या 678 थी. जो 2025 में घटकर 217 रह गई हैं.यहां से हाथियों का पलायन छत्तीसगढ़, मध्यप्रदेश , ओडिशा और महाराष्ट्र में हुआ है. वाइल्ड लाइफ एक्सपर्ट इसकी बड़ी वजह माइनिंग को बताते हैं. यहां के स्थानीय लोगों का भी मानना है कि पहले की अपेक्षा अब कम हाथी दिखाई पड़ रहे हैं.वहीं हाथियों की संख्या कम होने के पीछे जंगलों का कटना और इंसानों के साथ बढ़ता संघर्ष भी एक बड़ा कारण माना जा रहा है.
