The organisations have teamed up to launch a new Girlguiding Safari Conservation badge which will see Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers (ages 4 to 18) learn about many areas of conservation.
Transcript
00:00A collaboration between Noseley Safari and Gale Guiding North West is inspiring the next generation of conservationists here in the region.
00:12Our new badge Operation Safari Conservation is in partnership with Noseley Safari.
00:17It's to encourage our young members to learn more about conservation at a younger age.
00:23Our members told us in our membership survey that they care about conservation and climate change and things like that.
00:31So we're really trying to give our members the experience that they are asking for.
00:35This unique badge is open to girls aged 4 to 18 from rainbows and brownies to guides and rangers.
00:41Participants will take part in age appropriate conservation activities and challenges both at Noseley Safari during a special weekend and through a specially designed challenge pack.
00:52So they can either come to the event which is on Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th of May in 2026 or they can use the challenge pack that we are creating alongside the event where they can do a handful of activities depending on which themes they are in and then they can earn their badge either by coming to the safari or completing the challenge pack.
01:15The safari has long been a place where families can connect with animals and nature and now it's also helping to shape the next generation of conservation leaders.
01:26We do uniform group offerings here at the park already with the badges that already exist as part of the Girl Guiding Network.
01:33But what we wanted to do is create a badge that was specifically designed for the safari that would help make sure that the young people do have access to the safari itself and help make sure that they can come and learn more about the conservation efforts we do and what conservation efforts they can do at home.
01:48Girl Guiding North West England, part of the UK's largest youth organisation for girls, currently supports around 36,000 members in the region.
01:55Through friendships, challenges and adventure, Girl Guiding empowers young people to find their voice, discover their potential and make a positive impact in their communities.
02:07I hope that our members will gain new knowledge around conservation, maybe learn, like expand their knowledge on things that they may already know or learn some new things.
02:20Young members will explore the world of wildlife, learning about native and non-native species, endangered animals and natural habitats, whilst also picking up practical tips on protecting the planet.
02:32We have different partnerships that run with different organisations across the world.
02:36Our conservation efforts are widespread as well as being focused here in the North West as well with our native species.
02:43For the young people taking part, earning the badge isn't just about completing activities.
02:47It's about sparking curiosity, developing a passion for the natural world and understanding the role they can play in protecting wildlife for generations to come.
