00:00Hello and welcome to this James weather update for Queensland on Friday. We have fairly clear skies at this stage. We've got a little bit of onshore activity coming in through there. Winds are onshore. We've got some showers, but it's really not adding up to very much at all. All quiet in the southeast for now, a fair bit of sunshine.
00:16Let's have a look day by day. We've got all of this that is down in the south today. So it's just crossing the border into Queensland later on. There is a trough slowly moving through showers and thunderstorms ahead of that trough line. So we're not seeing much of that today in the far southeast corner, but we are seeing it across these inland parts. Here's our current surge of heat and here's the activity that is on the coastline there. That's Friday. Let's have a look at Saturday. Here we go. That really fires up over the southeast corner. So the trough is running in through here. We'll have that out ahead of that.
00:45So that is during the day on Saturday, afternoon and early evening is the most likely time for that. This contracts northwards. We've hardly got any more onshore flow anymore. Here is the surge of heat that is over in the west. Have a look at Sunday. Just some lighter showers that are left over, mainly in the morning in the southeast there. Hardly anything left over for the coast. Here is our heat. Let's move into a fairly quiet week. Watch that surge of heat that is coming down in through here. All quiet, all fairly sunny. Moving into Tuesday, into Wednesday.
01:14We can see that heat slowly creeping back towards the coast in through there. Into Thursday. That's where we start to see our next little bit of a trough activity. So showers and thunderstorms. It's not much at this stage later on Thursday. Friday is when that is more likely and into next Saturday as well.
01:29So we've got heat to deal with. We've got clear skies to deal with. We've got a run of fairly stable and sunny weather ahead that will have temperatures definitely rising.
01:39What might that add up to? Now showers and thunderstorms. It's hit and miss activity. So if you're directly under a thunderstorm, yes, you're going to see a heavy fall.
01:46So that really isn't shown well in this sort of map here. The coastal activity really doesn't add up to very much. It's only in the next day or two.
01:54And as that comes through, there's really not a lot in store for Queensland other than that shower and storm activity.
01:59Let's have a look at what we can expect in Brisbane. We're about 28 today. The sun is shining.
02:04Moving into Saturday. That's where in the afternoon and early evening, there is a risk of showers and thunderstorms.
02:09Now, most of the thunderstorms may be inland, but they could travel right towards that coastal part there.
02:15If you're directly underneath, it'll be more than one and a half millimetres as it comes through.
02:19So there's our heat and then there is our shower and thunderstorm activity.
02:23On Sunday, temperatures are down, not overnight, but during the day, yes.
02:27And where we're cloudy in the morning, there may be the odd light shower around and then it turns quite sunny.
02:32Cooler start on Monday. Temperatures start to rise and so do those overnight temperatures as we work through the rest of the week.
02:38There's a fair bit of sunshine that is there at the end of the week.
02:41That's when we may have our next shower and thunderstorm period comes through.
