00:00Hello again you. This feels weird seeing you outside of a Rivals sitting, doesn't it?
00:05I feel like we're cheating on it a little bit, do you know what I mean?
00:08I feel a bit annoying. That's quite Rivals sitting right, isn't it?
00:10It is. And I'm not in red, so I wasn't ready.
00:12I know, you should be. That's a shame. You look gorgeous, however.
00:16Well, so do you, as always. So tell me all about this thing, filming in a prison.
00:20How different was the contrast?
00:22To Rivals, it was extremely different. It was extremely different.
00:25I mean, one way it was very different, it was very low budget, there was very little time.
00:30We shot the whole thing in 18 days. So you're covering a massive amount of screen time every day.
00:36So you get like one or two takes every time, very minimal rehearsal.
00:40So you really have to throw yourself into it.
00:42Each scene is covered maybe from two different angles if you're lucky.
00:46So it's a much more immersive sort of situation.
00:49Completely different Rivals, equally valid, just a really different experience.
00:53But great. It's so fun to do different sorts of projects.
00:56How was filming in the prison? Because I feel like I would get a bit claustrophobic Darren with all that.
01:00Yeah, I mean, it was kind of really useful in that way because you get, you know, I have not had that experience.
01:05And you get a tiny taste of what that must be like to be inside all day.
01:11And to what that would do to your brain and your emotions and your spirit.
01:15So it's useful, yeah.
01:17Look at the range. I mean, let's talk about the masculinity in this as well.
01:20Because obviously we've got a rise of toxic masculinity as well.
01:23How was it, you know, exploring all of those different elements?
01:26It's tough.
01:27Like the first thing we did was I turn up and have to be really in the other actors' faces.
01:34And be, obviously we've like worked it out, but I'm slapping them and intimidating them.
01:38And you don't know each other.
01:40So you're sort of very quick into it.
01:42So it's interesting territory.
01:44I mean, it's funny that there's lots of stories about that at the moment because it's a really important topic.
01:49And the thing that I love about the film is that there is, it's an attempted connection between these two very, these men in this very difficult situation.
01:58And, you know, without spoiling anything, it doesn't ultimately end that brilliantly for their relationship.
02:04But they are trying to be intimate with each other and in really difficult circumstances.
02:08And I think we need to encourage young people to be vulnerable and intimate and to open up to each other.
02:14Well, Gearshift.
02:15Yes.
02:16I saw yous at the NTAs for Rivals.
02:18You know how much of a big fan I am.
02:20And I know you're not going to tell me anything.
02:22But I know yous are filming.
02:24How is it going?
02:25Tell me something.
02:26It's going really, really well, thank you.
02:27We were very devastated to lose Gillie.
02:29Obviously that's been a big blow to all of us.
02:31But we want to just keep going in her name and in her honour.
02:34It's great.
02:35So we're doing 12 episodes this time.
02:37We've got new characters, new locations.
02:40It's bigger, it's funnier, it's deeper, it's more complicated.
02:43I think everyone's going to flip their lid about it.
02:48Well just finally, where's my invite to the set visit?
02:51I mean it.
02:53If my clothes weren't so tight, I would have it.
02:55I will find you.
02:57It's so nice to see you again.
02:59Thank you so much.
03:00You take care.
03:01You're great in this.
