00:00Because she's a weapon.
00:02Now I'm at the premiere and promoting it and I'm in the Hungry Games.
00:07No, no, they were too filthy.
00:16Lucy, Jo.
00:172,700 people went for this role. Was it your very own Hungry Games?
00:20How many?
00:212,700.
00:222,700? Is that the real number?
00:24Apparently.
00:25Um, was I what? Sorry?
00:27Was it your very own Hungry Games to get this?
00:29Yes, it was. It was intense and it went for forever.
00:34But it was important to do that because otherwise how are you supposed to find who's going to be able
00:38to back it up every day
00:40and prove that they're going to give it 100% every single step of the way?
00:46You nailed it.
00:46But you have said that Hamish is actually better at the games than Katniss.
00:50Are you ready to defend that?
00:51Did I say that?
00:52I've read apparently you did.
00:54No, I didn't. You're a liar.
00:57No, I didn't.
00:58I am.
00:59Um, better than Jennifer Lawrence. No one's better than Jennifer Lawrence.
01:02She's got a bow and arrow.
01:03And I'm not just saying that PR wise.
01:05Literally, unfair weapon of choice.
01:08It's like plot armour basically.
01:11You know, take away your bow and arrow plot armour.
01:13What are you then?
01:14We're working with a beautiful lady here.
01:17I love you.
01:18I love you.
01:18I love you.
01:18I love you baby.
01:20Yeah.
01:20What was the best thing about working with this lovely legend?
01:23Um, that she's just as committed today as I'm sure she always has been.
01:29And that she gives 100% every single day and she loves to be there and she was so lovely
01:33to
01:33everybody and spoke to everybody that wanted to speak to her and gave them the time of day.
01:39Oh, isn't that as lovely?
01:41But who's going to be in a fight?
01:42Drizella or Cruella de Vil?
01:44Um, Cruella.
01:49Yeah, Cruella probably would.
02:08Cruella.
02:09I had Pippi, so Pippi was with me.
02:11Have you done that before on a film?
02:14No, that was the first time, but I've done it since.
02:17Really?
02:17Yeah.
02:18Wow.
02:19That's so good.
02:20Do you recommend that?
02:20Because you need some tips.
02:21No, I do.
02:22I like silence and I like nature.
02:24So if you're in a wonderful location and everyone goes home and you have nature in silence,
02:30what's wrong with that?
02:32You don't have to, you know, go in a car for an hour and a half.
02:35There you go.
02:36As long as I can get Uber Eats because I'm the most hopeless cook of all time.
02:41What should you go to order?
02:42That's the question.
02:43I don't know.
02:45Mexican.
02:46It's not very interesting.
02:48Chick-fil-A.
02:49Chick-fil-A.
02:50I like that.
02:50Well, thank you very much for detail.
02:53Apparently you made some limericks up on set with Maya.
02:56Oh, yes, yes.
02:57Are you allowed to tell me any?
02:58No, no, they were too filthy.
03:01That's what I want.
03:02I love being filthy.
03:04We were cracking each other up.
03:06It was Maya and Lily.
03:10Yeah, it was really funny.
03:13And that scene is actually not in the movie.
03:16We were seeing everybody off as they were leaving and getting blasted by helicopter fumes.
03:23So, yeah.
03:25Yeah.
03:25Maybe that made him more horrible.
03:27Oh, yes.
03:29Do you love just being mean-y?
03:32I love.
03:32I don't know about that.
03:34Yes, I mean, it's usually very colorful.
03:36I love being the mean-y in this because I think it actually is very relevant.
03:42I think there's a lot of meanness abroad in the world and the fact that we know at the end
03:48of the story that that meanness is defeated.
03:52Okay.
03:53And Maya said that she was stashed up by you.
03:55Does anyone make you feel stashed up?
04:00Not really.
04:01I mean, I'm most comfortable with, as I call actors, creative people, the alien nation.
04:08So I'm very comfortable with my alien nation.
04:12Not so much with others, but with my people.
04:15You are the queen of the alien nation.
04:17Yeah.
04:17Oh, you think?
04:18That's your title.
04:20Absolutely.
04:20Thank you very much indeed.
04:24I think that what used some of the pressure was the fact that people seemed to respond mostly nicely to
04:30my casting, which, you know, is not always the case.
04:32And that was like so, that meant so much to me and that the fan base, you know, liked me
04:37as Maisley.
04:38Because I was like, I don't even know if I like myself as Maisley.
04:40Like, am I going to do this justice?
04:41Like, taking on something like this and a franchise that I care so deeply about and a character that, like,
04:47means everything to me.
04:48It's been so taunting and insane and, I don't know, I'm so grateful for it.
04:54And fan casting, you know, I've been fan casting for a lot of things.
04:57Usually whenever you're fan casted, I find that it doesn't end up working out.
05:01So I always get terrified.
05:03I'm like, no, the casting director is going to see this and they're not going to hire me.
05:07But I don't know.
05:08I think that Francis, I don't know if he pays attention to those things.
05:11But I feel like he's tuned in to what the fans love.
05:15But he's always going to pick whoever he sees best fit for the role.
05:18And so I'm just so thankful that he even watched my tape, let alone that he hired me.
05:24And now I'm at the premiere and promoting it.
05:26And I'm in the Hungry Games.
05:28I am in London.
05:29I haven't been outside today.
05:31So I actually, I'm having a hard time believing that I'm actually in London.
05:34But here we are.
05:34Yes.
05:35Let's be honest, Haymitch F.
05:36Everyone get up.
05:39On the red flags, green flags.
05:41Sorry?
05:41And I want to know about the clue.
05:43Be honest with me.
05:44Is he red flag or green flag?
05:46Haymitch?
05:46Yeah.
05:47Green flag.
05:48Haymitch is a great character.
05:50Especially as we find him.
05:52I love that.
05:53I do think I'm like this, Ben.
05:55When you saw the name.
05:56Hello.
05:56Glen Close.
05:57Hello.
05:57I want to take you to go, okay, it's okay.
05:59It's normal now.
06:00It's normal.
06:01It's normal.
06:02It hasn't.
06:03It hasn't happened yet.
06:05What do you mean?
06:06Glen Close just got here.
06:07What do you mean?
06:08Unbelievable.
06:09Yeah.
06:12I don't know.
06:13I didn't really get to work with a lot of the cast.
06:16And I've just sort of gotten to spend time with.
06:19Wow.
06:20Wow.
06:21She's wearing Robert Wong.
06:22Incredible.
06:23Amazing.
06:25Yeah.
06:25But I've had some great conversations and try to learn as much as I can just by working
06:29with everyone.
06:32Yeah.
06:33And just how much have you got?
06:35And how many tissues were I'm saying?
06:37Because this is quite the line.
06:39Yeah.
06:39There was a lot of emotion on set for sure.
06:42And kind of a lot of hugs and holding each other.
06:44And it was really sweet.
06:46You've played Voldemort and now President Snow.
06:48Would you say that at this point you're Hollywood's favorite terrifying man?
06:52I couldn't possibly comment.
06:54I think Donald Sutherland probably is.
06:56Yeah.
06:56I mean, he was so iconic as this villain.
06:59What was the one thing that you wanted to bring to the character that maybe hadn't been
07:02in school before?
07:04I didn't really think of it like that.
07:05I think I just felt that he had created a very strong energy which I wanted to try and
07:09make my own or to vibe with what he established.
07:14And so I kind of very much tried to feel his Snow as I was, without trying to consciously do
07:19an imitation.
07:21I tried to feel him.
07:22I thought about him a lot when I was shooting.
07:24That's really lovely.
07:24And who would win a showdown, do you think, between President Snow and Voldemort where
07:29he's not allowed his wand?
07:32I think that's a good question.
07:34I think Snow might win, actually.
07:37It's just the most incredible role.
07:39Do you just love every moment of it?
07:40I mean, I'm sure you love all the roles you take on.
07:43Yes, I think when you're doing something like that, you're kind of just thinking of the
07:47thoughts and what your intention is and feeling your way in.
07:51So afterwards you might say you loved it, but at the time you're just focusing.
07:56You're just focusing on being present in the moment with the other actor.
08:00And I guess you're feeling, I think acting for me is a very intuitive thing.
08:04And what about these sinister characters you take on?
08:06Do you love that kind of role?
08:07They're not all sinister.
08:08I've done a whole load of very un-sinister characters.
08:11Do you ever sit back and go, I'll do a musical next?
08:15Yes, I'm not.
08:16I'd have to do a Rex Harrison, you know, speak-sync.
08:18I don't think anyone's ready for me to sing.
08:20And I hear that Glenn actually slept in her trailer.
08:23Are you tempted to do the same thing?
08:25No, no.
08:26In fact, it's a very lovely hotel.
08:27How are you doing?
08:28I'm doing good, thank you.
08:30How are you?
08:30Nice to meet you.
08:30You are a Premier.
08:31How many Premiers have you been doing before?
08:33This is my second one.
08:34Okay, it's not your first one then?
08:36No, yeah.
08:36So just tell me how on earth you're feeling about being here.
08:40A massive event.
08:41You're spectacular and you've got an amazing topper.
08:43Thank you very much.
08:45Hungry Games themed.
08:46I thought it was very Hungry Games themed.
08:50Sorry, I've had a brain fart.
08:51I don't know what you said, sorry.
08:52How are you feeling about being here?
08:55I'm very excited.
08:56Maybe the tiniest little bit nervous but I'll absolutely love it here.
09:00So excited to be here.
09:01So who are you most excited about meeting?
09:04Meeting?
09:05What, that I've already met and seen them again?
09:07Yeah.
09:08Maybe Joseph.
09:09Joseph.
09:10I'm excited to see him.
09:11So just sum up how much fun this was for the film and what it was like on set and
09:15stuff.
09:15Yeah.
09:15It was absolutely great.
09:17Everyone was really kind to me.
09:18Everyone there is.
09:20And what are your memories of Hungry Games originally?
09:23Do you remember seeing many?
09:24Were you able to watch them before you were in it?
09:26I remember one scene where it was me and Cara.
09:31Cara.
09:31And in between the scenes we were laughing and as soon as we had to go on we did the
09:37scene.
09:37Like as soon as they said rolling we were laughing and then we went straight into it like that.
09:41I love that.
09:41That was funny.
09:42And what's the best thing about being part of all this?
09:45Just, I was so excited.
09:47It's just exciting.
09:48And can you do an impression of you?
09:50You know the music and that whistle?
09:52Have you got a little impression for me?
09:54Oh god it's not a whistle but...
09:56No.
09:58No.
09:59Oh it's so good to meet you and you look so great.
10:01Even that.
10:02Look at that.
10:03That's unbelievable.
10:04Yeah.
10:04Enjoy every minute of tonight again.
10:06And you.
10:07See you later.
10:08Bye.
10:08Wow look at you.
10:10It's giving Jennifer and Lauren.
10:13Have you wanted to look at?
10:14Oh thank you.
10:14That's a compliment in any way.
10:16So how exciting are you?
10:18Can you sum it up for me in any way right now about being here at the premiere?
10:21I mean like I'm just so excited.
10:23I'm quite nervous you know.
10:25It's so huge.
10:26There's so many fans and people.
10:28But I'm just so excited to see all the cast again.
10:30And just to be here is amazing.
10:31What noise did you make when you got the phone call, email or whatever it was.
10:35DM.
10:36What noise did you make when you found out that role?
10:38Well my agents called me and they were like okay well you know.
10:41I hope you're having a good day.
10:42But we're going to make your day better because you got throwing a lot at me.
10:44And I was like ahhh.
10:45That's how excited I was.
10:47What was the first thing you do?
10:47Head to land over to family.
10:49What did you get up to?
10:50What did I do?
10:51I think I invited all my family over and we were like oh not celebrating for any particular
10:55reason just having a good day.
10:57And you know I actually went to musical theatre that night and I was just like trying to be
11:00so normal because the hardest part was keeping it in.
11:03I had to contain my excitement for like a month before it was announced.
11:06So I was like I couldn't tell anyone and it was so hard.
11:08It's just the most incredible style.
11:10I mean insane.
11:12It's crazy.
11:12You're around as well.
11:13Tell us funny stories because I've heard that you're laughing on set and trying to
11:18not break your character and stuff like that.
11:21Was it difficult to not be silly?
11:23I mean yeah definitely.
11:24I mean we had so much fun off set and then you have to like snap into your characters
11:28really quick and be so scared and be so like ahhh.
11:31So that's how it felt.
11:31But no we had so much fun though on set.
11:34Especially on the days it's such a huge set that you're doing so many different angles.
11:37So for like so much time you could be maybe they're just focusing on Joe and then me Ben and
11:41McKenna would be
11:42doing something over random in District 12.
11:46Just doing something crazy.
11:48And you know we just we'd pass the time so well and we just had so much fun on that
11:51set.
11:52It was great.
11:52How are you?
11:54Was it exhausting?
11:55It was quite the ride.
11:56Have you seen the film yet?
11:58No.
11:59I'm so nervous.
12:00It was exhausting on set.
12:01I mean you did good times.
12:03I mean it was definitely some early starts, some late nights.
12:06But honestly I just took every day as a treat.
12:08I was just so grateful to be there.
12:10I was running off pure adrenaline.
12:11Like okay let's go.
12:12Let's go.
12:12I was just so excited that honestly the tiredness never caught up to me until I got home for
12:16Christmas and I was like oh.
12:18What best did you have for the mega fans of this franchise?
12:21What have they got to look forward to?
12:23The whole film is incredible.
12:25Every single actor put their heart and soul into this movie and I think everyone's going
12:29to love it, Hunger Games fan or not.
12:30And just over three hours, what's the best accomplishment that you need for this film?
12:36I mean I'm a very much so Jelly Tots kind of person.
12:40Which gumdrops sure but you know Jelly Tots is a good alternative.
12:44And yeah I'm very, I love a bit of popcorn.
12:46You were at this massive event in London.
12:48I know.
12:48Are you alright?
12:49No.
12:50I'm actually not.
12:51I'm sweating.
12:52I feel like I'm going to pass out.
12:55I'm trying.
12:57Yeah it's crazy.
12:58What was the best moment so far for this college ever?
13:04Probably just filming.
13:06I mean filming it was so fun.
13:07There were so many good moments and the cast is insane.
13:11So I think I had so many great experiences.
13:13When you found out you got the car, what noise did you make?
13:17It was something like a screeching, Mom!
13:21And then I called my mom and I was like I got the job!
13:24And she was like what, what?
13:26And I was like oh.
13:27Oh my god.
13:28Isn't that epic?
13:29It was insane.
13:30It was insane.
13:30I didn't expect it.
13:31My agent pranked me and told me I had like another audition with Francis.
13:35So I got myself ready.
13:36I was panicking and I joined and they were like, they tried to do this weird like prank.
13:40They were like I'm really hungry.
13:42Do you want to play a game?
13:42And I was like what?
13:43It took me like 10 minutes to actually figure out what they were talking about.
13:47And I was like oh.
13:48That's crazy.
13:49So are you a fan of the whole franchise?
13:51Definitely.
13:52I had posters up in my room.
13:54You're not supposed to be signed now.
13:56No I haven't.
13:57I took them straight down when I got the role.
13:59I was like this is so embarrassing.
14:01Well now you're told the world.
14:03I know.
14:03I'm going to regret that.
14:05And who took you under their wing on sale?
14:07Do you want to take them?
14:08Um, McKenna.
14:10I love tiny young McKenna.
14:11You're now just like casually make sure it's going to be great.
14:15No I really loved hanging out with her.
14:16It's just really cool.
14:17And what do your friends think about this?
14:20Um, I don't really know.
14:22I mean, I found out that I got the role on like a random Tuesday.
14:26So I had to go to school the next day.
14:29And we actually studied the Humley games at our school.
14:32So everybody knows about it.
14:34It was my worst nightmare.
14:36It was awful.
14:37Well at least you're a bit of a bopin' on set.
14:38Do you know all about it?
14:39Exactly.
14:40We studied it in school.
14:41And so me and my friends are so big fans of like...
14:44What's going on right now?
14:46Um, just gratefulness.
14:48Um, the fact that I'm here now.
14:51You know, you never know when your time's gone.
14:52So just to be here with my family.
14:56You know, my Hulker Games family and the fans.
14:58It's an honor.
14:59That's great.
15:01Yeah.
15:01That's going to be you one day.
15:03That's what it's going to be.
15:04So what was the best thing about being on the next day?
15:07Um, just working with everybody.
15:09We really built a connection and everybody was so together.
15:13And just building bonds with all of my cast mates was definitely my favorite bit.
15:17Are you just one of their wingmen on set?
15:19Joseph's honor.
15:20Oh.
15:21Joe was there for me everywhere.
15:23Um, whenever we saw each other we had to just say what's up, talk for a second.
15:29None that I can, none that really sticks out.
15:31You know, I've messed with him, but no pranks.
15:34A little bit.
15:35What annoyance did you make?
15:37Whoa.
15:39Whoa.
15:39Yeah, I definitely don't know something.
15:41I'm surprised about it.
15:42He's so good.
15:43He's been on Joseph for the show.
15:45Oh, yeah.
15:45Oh, yeah.
15:46We've watched it every single one over and over.
15:48I can't believe it.
15:49This one had their posters on people.
15:51Did you do anything like that?
15:52No.
15:53Honestly, I didn't really get into it until I got the audition.
15:56That's when I started reading the books and watching the movies.
15:58And then from there, I just fell in love with the franchise.
16:01Just give me a little tea to the fans.
16:02What have they got to look forward to?
16:04Yeah.
16:05It was so hot in Spain.
16:06You gotta look.
16:08I can't say much, but I will say it's heartbreaking.
16:11It's really heartbreaking.
16:11I think it's tragic.
16:12And I didn't know what to expect.
16:13But it builds you up.
16:15And it gives you hope.
16:17They talk to all the tributes on the set when it's soft.
16:20I'll say one or two.
16:22Let's just, you know, I might be lying.
16:25But one or two.
16:25All the other tributes are screaming.
16:28So we pulled up.
16:29Thank you so much.
16:31That is incredible.
16:33The screaming and the shouting is mega.
16:35Mega in London.
16:36Are you alright?
16:38No, I'm not.
16:38Do you see me sweating?
16:39I'm not.
16:40I'm not.
16:41I mean, part of it is the outfit.
16:43But under this, I'm all wet.
16:45I mean, it's just like getting into this thing.
16:48It's like the scale of everything.
16:49I mean, I've done projects in Germany.
16:51And I mean, there's nothing comparable to The Hunger Games.
16:55One of the biggest franchises we have in this world.
16:57And this here shows it definitely.
16:59And I'm just really nervous and thankful to be here.
17:02And I'm incredibly excited about what we're going to see.
17:05And you're incredibly good.
17:06Can I just say.
17:07Thanks.
17:08Thanks.
17:09What was the advice that you made when you found out you got the gigs?
17:12You could ask him.
17:13That's my agent right over there.
17:15I remember I had a nap.
17:16And it was like one of those bad days where I just got like the no for a pretty big
17:23job in Germany.
17:24And I was still in the casting process for this one.
17:26But I was like, I'm not going to get it.
17:27I'm not going to get it.
17:29And then I just had the other world turned down.
17:32And I was going to sleep.
17:33And then I woke up from the nap.
17:34And my agent was like, you're probably sad, right?
17:37Well, it's time to stop being sad.
17:38And I'm like, huh?
17:40And he was like, well, you got The Hunger Games.
17:43What?
17:44What?
17:44What?
17:44Come again.
17:45I'm jumping in my bed.
17:46My bed just broke down.
17:47No, it did not.
17:47But I was jumping on my bed.
17:49Yeah.
17:49Wow.
17:50What an epic moment.
17:51You'll never forget that as well.
17:52Absolutely.
17:53Never ever in my life.
17:54Who took you under their wing on set?
17:56Come again?
17:57Who took you under their wing and looked after you?
18:00I mean, I think I had the privilege to take some other people under my wing.
18:04I mean, the members of my district, they're all pretty young.
18:08And I'm the oldest one.
18:09And I'm in District 9.
18:11And I kind of, my role is kind of protecting them and trying to, trying to keep danger away
18:16from them.
18:16And I got to take all of them under my wing.
18:19And I mean, for me, it was a huge experience as well.
18:22I do have German experience.
18:23So I know about like how sad life goes, but that was totally different.
18:28But it was great to have someone that is less experienced than you.
18:33So you don't feel too bad about it all.
18:35Excuse me, Daddy.
18:37Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
18:39Well, I guess we'll never know.
18:42A cool WhatsApp group called District 9.
18:44Come on.
18:44Come again?
18:45Is there a cool WhatsApp group called District 9?
18:47Yes, there is.
18:48There is.
18:48And them little babies are spamming, but I love them.
18:52What is the emoji next to the title of the group?
18:55The emoji that's next to the title of the group.
18:57Was it called District 9 with like a shirt?
19:00Oh, no, of course it was a sunflower emoji.
19:02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:04Very creative.
19:05But yeah, I'm going to be reunited with them all in Berlin for the Berlin premiere.
19:09And maybe we'll have some matching outfits.
19:11We'll see.
19:12So yeah, it's been great.
19:15And I'm excited for what's coming next.
19:17I'm excited.
19:17We'll see you next time.
