Transkrip
00:00Ya, ya, I mean, corruption is very difficult.
00:06Corruption, in my opinion, is a disease.
00:09Once it reaches Stadium 4, like cancer, it's very difficult.
00:15But corruption, in my reading of history, corruption will destroy countries, nations, and regimes.
00:25So, yeah, I am determined to try to cut down corruption, and then sometimes, the only thing is you must give the example, right?
00:41So, yes, when I became Minister of Defense, the first night I became Minister of Defense, I remember I called in all my relatives, my nephews.
00:53I don't know if my brother was in the room, but I said, listen, I'm the Minister of Defense, ya, you guys cannot go into the Minister of Defense for any defense contract.
01:06Right? Understand that.
01:09So, that's what I tried to do.
01:13But, of course, after 2-3 months, you know, business people are very creative, right?
01:20Especially Indonesian business people.
01:23So, they will find ways and means, and then, one day I found one of my nephews coming to me, right?
01:29With a project, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
01:31I said, come on, you've never been in defense, you don't understand defense, okay?
01:35So, no, look for other business.
01:40So, one time, we had a defense project conference in the business of defense.
01:48So, my head of logistics reported to me, sir, we have this 250 projects, and let me report to you project number one.
02:00I don't know, whatever.
02:02Three companies in the short list.
02:04Company A, Company B, Company 3.
02:07Oh, by the way, sir, I would like to report, in Company C, there's one of your nephews.
02:14Rajimov, go down the list.
02:19Oh, by the way, sir, in this project, Company A is one of your other nephews.
02:26I wrote of all my family.
02:32And so, in the end, he made a comment.
02:34Maybe I shouldn't have reported the names.
02:36And then, they might have passed.
02:38So, I had difficulty meeting my nephews for a few or four months after that.
02:43But, yeah, you have to give example.
02:46It's not easy.
02:47But, you have to do it.
02:49And then, now, the problem with Indonesia, I think, is this.
02:59If we can get this done well, I think very fast we will be the surprise of the world.
03:09For instance, I came into two islands of Indonesia, Bangka and Britung, and we got a report there were 1,000 illegal tin mines.
03:221,000 on these two islands.
03:26And we were losing maybe 80% of our total tin production to these illegal miners and through smuggling.
03:39And, I said this to stop, I made a military training program with naval ships, airplanes, helicopters, drones.
03:59And we just blocked these two islands.
04:02No vessel can come in and out without us knowing what's inside.
04:08And, basically, we stopped the smuggling.
04:14One sampan tried to go out.
04:17We found out they have tin on the sampans.
04:20Can you imagine?
04:21So, and then we confiscated several cases, cases of tin, ingots, rare earth, etc., etc.
04:39We calculated that we saved our country about a couple of billion dollars.
04:51So, next year, the increase of tin production, we hope, will come back to its original position.
05:02And we should be earning maybe at least three or four times what we were earning last year.
05:07So, this is just one example of what we recovered.
05:13We also, of course, I took over from the previous government, handed me over the problem of about…
05:22I was reported come to us, sir, out of the millions of hectares of palm oil, about 5,000 are in violation of the law.
05:36What?
05:37Yes.
05:38Oh, no, no, not 5,000.
05:395 million!
05:405 million hectares are in violation of the law.
05:41So, I said, I am sworn in to uphold the law.
05:43So, I told my attorney general, my state auditing board, carry out investigations.
05:45What you find out, if there's a case, terminate their concessions.
05:46And that's what we did.
05:47I think by…
05:48By…
05:49by…
05:50by…
05:51by…
05:52as of this month, we have recovered.
05:53my attorney general my state auditing board carry out investigations what you find out
06:04is there's a case terminate their concessions and that's what we did I think by as of this month
06:15we have recovered about 3.7 million hectares of plantations has violated the law one plantation
06:32two plantations one was 50,000 the other 50,000 violated the law 18 years ago there was a supreme
06:42court decision to confiscate those two estates 18 years ago supreme court of indonesia decision
06:54not carried out for 18 years the attorney general came to me I said what supreme court
07:01in crack so no more no more uh ways to appeal so I said carry out execute sir this and that and that
07:14what you guys afraid I I ordered my armed forces you accompany this uh attorney general's office
07:23accompany the state auditors protect them go in there and confiscate 100,000 we take over and
07:35no problem so I think this is the the case is the government now must enforce the law and I'm determined
07:45and I'm determined to enforce the law and I'm determined that the indonesian government must be respected
07:55by everybody the law is the law regulations are regulations
08:01we have to enforce the law that we believe we published by law regulations
08:03and it's a law regulations it's a law regulations
08:05yes there are law regulations
08:18and it's a law along with the law regulations
08:21but that we're not responsible for the law regulations
08:23so I believe that the law is right now
