00:00Police, that's the data! Stop!
00:02Driving, making off.
00:04Derbyshire traffic cops.
00:06Pull over in here now!
00:08Might be game on for something here.
00:10It's just gone. Go, go, go, go.
00:12Patrol some of the country's most dangerous roads.
00:16Speed is 4-0.
00:18The vehicle's all over the road.
00:20Driving head-on. He's up the kerb.
00:22Into danger.
00:24We just have warning markers for firearms.
00:26Vehicle's stolen.
00:28Get out of the car! Wow, gun.
00:30Designed to look like a mobile phone.
00:32Don't pull away, fella.
00:34With rising crime rates.
00:36Here you go, here you go.
00:38Officers are under pressure. Stop!
00:40Get out of here!
00:42Come out of here now!
00:44You're under arrest.
00:46Police!
00:48With lives on the line.
00:50We're gonna need at least three or four ambulances.
00:52Is it fuel? Right, move away from this car!
00:54Now!
00:56The stakes are high.
00:58For the traffic cops.
01:00You've blown 128.
01:0211 minutes past two in the afternoon.
01:04You're under arrest.
01:06I'm speaking of theft of motor vehicles.
01:08Do not run!
01:10Smack the officer! Another promise!
01:12There, it's there, it's there.
01:16Coming up.
01:18Police officer, we change the stop now!
01:20Repeat offenders.
01:22Get on floor now!
01:24Drivers making off.
01:26Open the door before I smash it in.
01:28Disqualified drivers.
01:30High behind the wheel.
01:32You can't even speak straight, pal.
01:34Out!
01:36Put your hands on that wall!
01:38And officers forced to take action.
01:40I didn't stop!
01:42When criminals go on the run.
01:44I ain't done nothing wrong with me!
01:45Get my solicitor!
01:46I ain't done nothing wrong with me!
01:47Get my solicitor!
01:58They've got a cafe here.
02:00Looks like it's been alright.
02:01They have made.
02:02They have.
02:03Had a walk.
02:04Yeah, me and Scotty have done a few walks around here.
02:07With re-offending rates on the rise, traffic cops like Andy Swift and Jack Pressland often deal with known criminals.
02:16A large portion of crime is committed by repeat offenders.
02:19It is the same people that we come across day in, day out, week in, week out.
02:25From NA Sierra One, we've had an ANPR activation for a possible clone vehicle.
02:30Yeah, receive, thank you.
02:32Near Chesterfield, Jack and Andy are searching for a black Audi with suspected fake plates, linked to crime throughout the area.
02:41I would suggest it originate from Claycross.
02:44I'll have a drive up for you.
02:46I'll have a spinner.
02:49A cloned car takes the identity of another by copying its number plate, allowing criminals to hide in plain sight.
02:57The clone starts to pick up on the picture cameras before he's missed a load and come onto us.
03:06Repeat offenders, they'll do anything to get away.
03:09They're not fussed about damaging property or sometimes even hurting people, so it becomes a very, very sort of dangerous game sometimes.
03:16There, it's there, it's there.
03:25Yeah.
03:26Andy passes the suspect car.
03:27Hey, Tango 4thome.
03:28It's there, it's parked up.
03:29There's a lad stood next to it.
03:30Oscar Tango 24's now got contact with this vehicle.
03:31Do you want me to grab him?
03:32Get him.
03:33Yeah.
03:34There are five males working on the Audi, with another vehicle behind it.
03:45Stop now!
03:47Drive him, make it off.
03:49Police officer of danger, stop now!
03:51Stop!
03:52Police officer of danger!
03:53Go on, Flop!
03:54Go on, Flop now!
03:55The Lexus has just driven at us.
03:57Stop now!
03:58People do anything to get away and sometimes it's a flip of a coin whether we get hit or we don't.
04:03Drive is making off back towards Blackwell.
04:06Four men speed off.
04:09Leaving one behind.
04:12Should you leave one of these?
04:14No, my mate brought me up in there.
04:16Just come and grab it cos I'll get the VR in mate.
04:19Andy updates control to try and identify the car that nearly hit Jack.
04:24It's a white Lexus.
04:27It's come past me.
04:30I think it's turned right.
04:32I'll run it through now, see if it's hit any cameras.
04:35While more units flood the area, looking for the white Lexus and the men who fled on foot.
04:41Come here mate.
04:42I don't know what's happening.
04:44Jack and Andy search the detained suspect.
04:47I suspect that this vehicle's a clone.
04:49Might be going out to commit a fest.
04:51So we'll look for items that could be stolen or any items linked to that vehicle, okay?
04:56Got everything you shouldn't have?
04:59I've got a weed grinder cos I smoke weed but that's it.
05:02You've got a little bit in mate.
05:05Why is it?
05:06What is it with people having cannabis at all the time?
05:09You've got a lot of car keys haven't you mate?
05:11I'm a mechanic.
05:12If you come to my house you'll see.
05:14We've got a male stood near the vehicle.
05:17Getting the truth out of him is going to be quite difficult.
05:21Have you not run out wrong?
05:22I haven't run off have I?
05:24We can only take his account but we'll keep digging and digging.
05:29Is this you then?
05:31There's some ID in the man's wallet.
05:33I've got to say that's not you.
05:35But the photo doesn't match the suspect they have in cuffs.
05:39Who's that?
05:40Well who's doing the drive shaft on that?
05:42So was he the one who's in the driver's seat to that one or was he the one who was fixing it?
05:45He was the one that was fixing it.
05:46We've just come to get paid to do a job mate.
05:49Right.
05:50Who's run off?
05:52I don't know it.
05:53I genuinely don't know it.
05:56Look at me.
05:57He's had a lad with your black coat on.
05:58Yeah.
05:59Black bottoms.
06:00Think a cat.
06:01He's jumped into my garden and he's gone down to the edge line and turned left.
06:05A local resident has seen a suspicious man.
06:08N8240.
06:09The one that ran off.
06:11He's still fields at the back of where we are.
06:15Understood. Thank you.
06:16I've got members of the public helping now.
06:20Just closing in and hopefully get them.
06:23Nearby, PC Alex's head is flagged down by members of the public.
06:28Do you see one or two people?
06:29Two people.
06:32Like with a lot of crime, it's very difficult to catch people in the act.
06:36So when we get information, we've got to act quickly.
06:38We've got to go searching.
06:39Somebody flagged me down and said there's one person running with glasses.
06:42Received, thank you.
06:45A man was seen heading into a back garden.
06:49Possibilities start running through your mind.
06:52They're dangerous.
06:53They've put us at risk.
06:54They've put other members of the public at risk.
06:57You don't know how they're going to behave.
07:01Stay there!
07:03Come out of here now!
07:06Stay there!
07:07Stay there!
07:08Stay there!
07:13One detained.
07:15Where's it going?
07:16Where can I sleep?
07:18Sit down.
07:22Take some breaths.
07:24Sit up.
07:28We've got him.
07:30Am I going to be arrested?
07:31Not in a minute, mate, no.
07:33You can have missile seized.
07:34Yeah.
07:35You can go.
07:36With no evidence linking him to the cloned vehicle, the man is released.
07:41Right, you're no longer detained, mate.
07:43I'll give you a call if I need to speak to you.
07:45Vehicle's going to be seized.
07:47It's got no insurance.
07:48It's got no documents.
07:50It's a good result.
07:51It's a cloned vehicle.
07:52It's going to cause carnage off the streets.
07:53While the Audi is recovered.
07:54I think we're going to go down to Alex.
07:55Yeah.
07:56Jack and Andy go to identify the suspect who fled on foot.
07:59No one's scared of any more.
08:00They've got one intention and they go away and that's it.
08:06Is this him?
08:07Fisherman?
08:08Oh, yes.
08:09He's got his glasses on still.
08:10He was definitely in the driver's seat of the Audi.
08:12Have you been locked up before?
08:13Oh God, yes.
08:14Many times.
08:15Many times.
08:16Swifty, do you remember my little pursuit through Chesterfield when the dog found him?
08:17I'm sure it's him.
08:18Last time he failed to stop for us, rammed a dog van in one of the local fast food restaurants
08:29and decided to make a way.
08:30Crash, crash, crash, crash, drivers run off.
08:49Last year, the same man sped away from police and fled on foot after he crashed a car.
08:55It must have been going 90 odd.
08:57It's a clone.
08:58It's not going to have insurance or a license.
09:02Out!
09:04Now!
09:06Poor Zero.
09:07I think the dog's got someone very close nearby.
09:12You're under arrest.
09:13Dangerous drive.
09:14Fail to stop.
09:15No insurance.
09:16No license.
09:17You're also further under arrest for criminal damage at the police car, mate.
09:22Stand up for me.
09:23One, two, three, come on.
09:25This is the second time the man has been caught running from a cloned vehicle.
09:30Okay, you're going to get searched.
09:32Right, you don't have a license currently.
09:34So what's playing on that key for us?
09:37Right, well, until we find out the identity of that, as you can't drive, I'm teasing that, okay?
09:43Repeat offenders will carry on offending just because it's in the DNA.
09:47They can go out, do what they want, get away with it for as long as they can.
09:51This is for huffing nitrous oxide.
09:54Is this why you're out of breath?
09:56You're taking illegal gases.
09:59At some point they will get caught, they will go to prison, but it's how long that they want to keep rolling this dice.
10:05He's got a Hyundai key and a few other bits and bobs.
10:08A couple of house keys and that's basically it.
10:10The car's jacked up on three wheels, isn't it?
10:12Yeah.
10:13So it's not what driving offence you are.
10:14If someone has drove that car this morning, who it is is different matters.
10:18Despite running from the cloned car, there's no evidence he's driven it.
10:23Do you want to go or not?
10:24Yeah.
10:25Yeah, okay, stand up then.
10:26And look like you're fit enough to be leaving the area.
10:29So the cops let him go.
10:31At this time we can't prove whether he was driving or not, what involvement it was.
10:35We've got a cloned vehicle only at this time.
10:38It's all intelligence, bigger picture.
10:42Have you been put to the face?
10:45The man appears to be suffering from a jaw injury.
10:49Who did you anger?
10:50And then will he stick to the top.
10:53Repeated Feders seem to get themselves in a cycle where they're just going down and down and down.
10:56So every time they get caught, obviously they go back to the bottom.
10:59And then it just keeps getting worse and worse for them, because they've got to try and obviously
11:04commit more crime to potentially try and get out of the trouble they're in.
11:06See you later.
11:09And I don't know if we have, but can we get the Lexus on the hot list for tonight?
11:14Yes, yes, the car's on the hot list.
11:16The Lexus is now on the police watch list
11:18and they're investigating the potential suspect who ran
11:21but left his driving licence behind.
11:28Coming up...
11:30Get out! Get out!
11:32A repeat offender tries to outwit the police.
11:36I can see that you've jumped into the bike.
11:37I think we're a joke.
11:41And the hunt is on for a known criminal.
11:43There, there.
11:44Anyway, God, it's definitely the right vehicle.
11:47Seeing two marked vehicles, an amazing attempt to get away.
12:04It's normally good at this time of night
12:06due to the road being relatively quiet.
12:09It's quite notorious for people that are committing criminality.
12:14With re-offending rates rising,
12:17traffic cops like PC Chris Wells-Jackson
12:20deal with lots of suspects already known to the police.
12:24Repeat offending is a massive issue for us.
12:28It is quite common to see people go on some sort of downward spiral.
12:32They just do it as their normality.
12:35And that's a dangerous thing
12:36because they don't have any consideration for anybody else or anything else.
12:40And a lot of the time, it is the same faces over and over again.
12:46Observations, then, for a vehicle that's just tipped to AM prior cameras.
12:49It's very common to see that people that repeat offend are addicted to drugs.
13:04That habit is their life and they've got to find some way of funding it.
13:08The only way they can do that is to turn to crime.
13:12Fifteen miles away on the motorway,
13:14a black Audi with links to a known offender is on the move.
13:18The male is known to us.
13:19He's got a warning marker.
13:22Received.
13:25Just had an AMPR hit on a possible disc-roll driver on the motorway.
13:28It's possible that he's been involved in some incidents down in the Warwickshire area,
13:33so there's a marker on the vehicle for that.
13:39Having NPR cameras is one of the biggest things we can use as a tool against the repeat offenders.
13:44Live intelligence enables us to put our resources in place at the right time.
13:50Due to the suspect's history, multiple units are called in.
13:54We've got a few tactical resources in the area.
14:04We've got Adam and Jack just trying to catch it up on the motorway.
14:08Scott will be trying to catch it up as well.
14:10We've also got a firearms unit.
14:14It's a black Audi A3 that we're looking for.
14:18That vehicle doesn't stand out.
14:20You wouldn't bat an island at it if it drove past you any other time.
14:25I'm sure we don't look blitzing past it.
14:28I think a lot of criminals these days use cars that don't stick out.
14:32It doesn't draw your attention as a cop to look at it and think,
14:35I need to have a look at that.
14:38Four units are searching.
14:43But there's no sign of the suspect vehicle.
14:47Well, it's seven minutes now since that hit.
14:51I think unless he's nailing it, Swifty, you should have caught him, shouldn't you?
14:53I've thought so.
14:54I'm pretty sure I've not gone, thank you, faster.
15:00Does the NPR actually show him going north?
15:04Yeah, it's definitely north down.
15:06The only little bit of a...
15:07We've got NPR cameras from CCTV that can give us a heads up and make sure we get the right
15:20people in the right place at the right time.
15:22Contact, contact with that vehicle.
15:28Got it.
15:29Point two.
15:31Up ahead, officers close in on the Audi.
15:34We're going to drop your funds a bit. Try and get into the service.
15:38Yeah, I'm far three, mate. You have to be quick.
15:41Shall we make your life behind so he knows?
15:44The drivers directed off the motorway into a service station.
15:48Follow me, he's on.
15:50He's on.
15:52Stand by.
15:56He's going off onto the opposite.
15:59Make sure I reinforce it.
16:02Stand by.
16:05And it is off, off, off.
16:09Block it in here.
16:11Open the door before I smash it in.
16:14There are three males in the car.
16:17Oh, we're doing that trick though, eh?
16:19Get that off it, cos it's illegal.
16:21One of the passengers is taking nitrous oxide, known as laughing gas.
16:26Has he just dumped into a bike?
16:28And the driver has jumped into the back seat.
16:31Get out! Get out!
16:34We can see that you've jumped into a bike.
16:35You think we're a joke?
16:37Well, you did though, didn't you?
16:38All cameras are recording in each car.
16:41So stupid.
16:45How much hail have you had?
16:47You can't even speak straight, pal.
16:49Yeah, he's, er...
16:51He's clearly intoxicated.
16:53He's jumped from the driver's seat into the back seat.
16:56You're clearly doing nitrous oxide, okay, in the vehicle.
17:00So I'm going to turn you to Section 23 of the Miss Use Drugs Act, okay?
17:03While officers search the two passengers.
17:05Happy birthday, don't we?
17:08What's your name?
17:11Oh, we're going to play that game, are we?
17:14Why are you trying to say...
17:16Chris and Andy deal with the suspected driver.
17:18What, are you disqualified from driving?
17:20No comment.
17:21Is the car yours?
17:23No comment.
17:25We obviously suspect that you are disqualified from driving,
17:28suspect that you are going to be under the influence of something, okay?
17:30So at the moment, arrest you on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified
17:34and on Section 4 Road Traffic Act, driving whilst unfit,
17:37with the drink or drugs, okay?
17:39The officers believe he is the man linked to the police intel on the car.
17:43You understand that you are under arrest for two offences, don't you?
17:47No comment.
17:49No comment.
17:51Just put yourself in there for a moment while we find out what's going on.
17:54When you're dealing with a repeat offender,
17:57you've got to bear in the back of your mind that they are a professional criminal.
18:00They know how we work.
18:02They'll know every different trick in the book.
18:05Who does the car belong to?
18:07You don't know but you're driving it.
18:10Well, you were and then we watched you jump into the back seat.
18:13It's very easy for us to work out when they're trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
18:18Sit in the back of the car.
18:20The self-driving car?
18:21Yeah.
18:24With the driver not saying who he is, Andy looks to the car for clues.
18:30How many are there, canisters-wise?
18:33Four or five.
18:35There's some cool whip, which is like a nitrous oxide.
18:40There's a few cans of that in the car and the drivers probably wonder if there's something else as well.
18:44It's a crank pipe in the footwell.
18:47Yeah.
18:48I think he's had a lot of drugs.
18:50Are you going to tell us who you are?
18:53I'm a mechanic, I've been working on the car.
18:56Yeah, they live back.
18:57Yeah, you don't want to tell us whose car it is?
19:00It's fine, it's going to get taken anyway, so it'll go to an impound, won't it?
19:08Paddy power.
19:09Not that they can come through.
19:12Officers find a wallet in the car.
19:15Oh right, prison card.
19:17So that's him?
19:18Looking better on the photo.
19:19Absolutely.
19:20The ID confirms the man is the disqualified driver.
19:24Bank card's the same.
19:26Oh, very good.
19:27Yeah, yes, yeah.
19:29People start coming back, race and shorter?
19:31No, he won't.
19:33Race and 10.
19:35Checks show the suspected driver isn't insured, but does own the vehicle.
19:41So his two passengers are free to go.
19:44Don't take illegal drugs.
19:46Don't get in the car, we're just glorified drivers.
19:47Don't get in the car.
19:49The rear seat passenger, it's his birthday today, so they've gone up Sheffield.
19:52We're on the way to Sheffield for a bit of a night out, meet some ladies with some nitrous oxide.
19:59So unfortunately, he's not having a very good birthday.
20:01Right, lads, have a good night.
20:03And you, Ben.
20:04That's it?
20:05You're just going to do this?
20:06Yeah?
20:07Yeah, mate.
20:08Not the side of the road, even the services.
20:09Going to McAdese, make the old faggy your birthday.
20:11Yeah, yeah, McAdese.
20:12Birthday, okay.
20:15While his mates continue their night out.
20:19He's got cocaine all over his lap.
20:22The driver will be tested for drugs at the police station.
20:26Sit you out, mate?
20:27No, because you've got to go through a procedure about your drug driving in custody.
20:30I don't love drinking.
20:31You're clearly unfit through something.
20:34He can't stand the train alone in the driveway.
20:37He's not drunk, he's just off his nut.
20:40Get another one off the road like that.
20:45He's got what looks like white powder all over his trousers, so I can only imagine he's been sniffing on the way up.
20:51Those three lads are on their way to Sheffield to go and meet some girls, apparently.
20:56They might have been a perfect match, but he's definitely not going to meet them tonight.
21:02We're going to have a room for one at the wonderful Derby custody suite.
21:08Right round there.
21:09Hello.
21:10Yeah, that's fine.
21:11You can do that at some point, but we still need to get you booked in.
21:12Don't pull your arm away from me whilst I'm trying to take your cuffs off.
21:28The suspect has recently been released from prison and is being monitored by a tag.
21:34The officers are going to tell me the circumstances for your arrest.
21:37We've followed a vehicle on the M1 with a marker on it suggesting that the driver might be disqualified.
21:42This chap has been seen driving by police, but then has decided to jump into the back seat and said that he wasn't.
21:49He had white powder all over his trousers.
21:52There's a crack pipe in the car as well.
21:57You consumed any alcohol or drugs recently?
22:00I'm overtired, overstressed, overworked.
22:04You guys wouldn't even let me have a fag.
22:06No, because you've got to go through an evidential procedure in a moment, so we can't let you have a cigarette.
22:10Shut your mouth.
22:12No.
22:13Shut up.
22:14Right, come down here with me then.
22:16Come and see the nurse.
22:18Chris needs the man to provide a blood sample for drugs analysis.
22:23Drug use has a massive impact on the way people re-offend and it has a massive impact on the way people drive and the decisions that they make.
22:30If you've got a disqualified driver that's been banned several times, it's very difficult for them not to drive anymore.
22:36So all they're going to do is keep driving and keep getting caught.
22:39They're sort of stuck in a world where they can't get out of it.
22:42Just stand here for me.
22:44Took a good sample from him and hopefully we'll get a result back soon and we can charge him with that and disc while driving.
22:52Come on then, we'll get you something to eat and something to drink.
22:56More than half of prisoners who do a year or less behind bars go on to re-offend after their release.
23:03Have a pot noodle and all day breakfast.
23:05All right.
23:10Coming up.
23:11A bizarre place to dump your vehicle.
23:13An elusive re-offender.
23:15He ain't gone far.
23:16Check under the lorries.
23:17Makes a run for it.
23:18There's a wee bit of bushes.
23:20He's fell on his arse down there.
23:22Come out!
23:24And the cops.
23:25You've got two buyer arms officers and two taser officers on you.
23:28Corner a known and violent criminal.
23:30Put your hands on that wall.
23:32Don't go towards my collie!

24:18No.
24:19No?
24:20No.
24:21No.
24:22No.
24:23No.
24:28because he's got from that earlier hit without hitting a camera I think repeat
24:38offenders live in a world where from when you were 13 or 14 being in our
24:42trouble the police it's probably a very hard sock to break out of this bloke's
24:46gonna be driving around Nicky I imagine if they make good money from the crime
24:51they commit then they probably don't have to find a job that pays the same it
24:55just becomes part and part of your life last sighting by someone was around
25:01here so we shall see what we can find
25:11yeah I see from an A4 ops unit so we're looking for that vehicle it has now been
25:15sighted it's there it's there up ahead the Kia is coming towards Andy
25:25and it got it's definitely the right vehicle because it's gone past me just
25:30instead of turning around so you see two marked vehicles I made an attempt to get
25:34away the suspect disappears so Andy and several units search the area
25:40it's probably not caught it by there
25:42while one unit takes the motorway Andy checks the other routes it could have taken we do
25:52when we repeat offenders you chase after someone that knows the area better than
25:56you and they use that inside knowledge to be able to get out and obviously make
25:59their escape and is it committed north carried on yeah mate I was checking the
26:05roundabout I'll be with you very shortly about I'll make some ground
26:07yeah I do for that as you see the commit north it's not hit any other cameras so I'm assuming
26:13it can only have come off at Tibby if you're not past mate I go into services and double check mate
26:21yeah a unit leaves the motorway to look for the suspect car
26:27there was two people in this vehicle so I'm wondering whether this chap is ferrying people
26:37around to steal as opposed to doing it himself it's a bizarre thing for someone of his age to be doing
26:42to contact with a vehicle yeah so the vehicles been abandoned in a secluded area away from the main
26:54services our colleagues found the vehicle parked up tip shelf service is a bizarre place to dump
27:01your vehicle because there's more CCTV you can shake a stick out officers start looking for the suspects
27:10who have vanished he ain't gone far because it's 68 check under the lorries
27:15the 47 I've made it up to the top of the the bog I've not seen anyone matching the description of this mail
27:22just gonna walk on the fence line to see where it goes
27:24yeah well no 68 old blokes get over this I won't get over this the only option is that they've ran around
27:36at you and then gone into the service if you check the toilets and everything all the cubits yeah
27:41there's no sign of the driver or the passenger inside the services you have any joy no blacker
27:50spirit into the night you know how those wee bit of bushes yeah he's fell in his arse down there a lorry
27:58driver approaches Andy did you see him at all I would see kind of bluey black jacket on his glasses and
28:05kind of greenish weavy hair there was a woman with kind of red hair oh it was a woman was it
28:10she was the driver and she was a passenger
28:13an eight-hanger 47
28:15from the descriptions given it probably will be this chap who's a discolive of five and there was a female in it
28:20um she got red hair dyed red hair yeah received and we checked all along that fence line down there
28:26the officers recheck the wooded area so for me has anyone been left into this bit yes I've done all
28:33this one of the helpful lorry drivers has told us that the chap was in the car and he's good lady
28:38initially ran off down the bank tango four six receiving it speaks not fenced all where I'm where
28:44I am here mate you're onto the path behind the back of it mate and then you can go as far as you
28:47want across fields better look and there are a couple of places you can get out further on each
28:52side so he's most likely got out it could be anywhere mate an eight-hanger 47 we just give
29:00highways a quick quick call and just ask him just if they get any reports of people hitchhiking on the
29:05m1 just to give give us a shout out received as the search for the suspects continues Andy checks the
29:16car so he's like it's homeless it's all he's like possessions that's the female stuff unless he's
29:22into nail polish looks like a bit of an aqua blue flavor cutlery clothes tent underwear even Heinz garlic
29:32sauce well there's no numerous letters often various addresses last one being um HMP Doncaster so I'm
29:40having this chap who is disqualified he's living out at boot and there's obviously a female involved we
29:43don't know yet and she's obviously no more there's your red-haired lady one of the mobiles in the car
29:53helps them identify the possible female passenger that's her phone them officers searching for the
30:04suspects spot a woman getting into a taxi both days in me because the taxi
30:10where is he I swear on my kids life he's not in this car with me well I can see that I don't mate
30:21we're with you very shortly the woman matches the photo on the phone found in the Kia when I left the
30:28hotel I've seen the car don't there that's it it's nothing to do with me I've not been seen in that
30:34car I see and he's run off where's he on to ran through bushes oh my god will everyone leave me look
30:45no I weren't with him let me go do you know do you know please has anyone seen me in the car the lorry
30:51drivers have said you've been in the car okay let me let me let me finish that with this morning
30:56well they're well they're saying you've been in it just why would they lie to me why would they lie
31:01to me it's very strange because there's two phones in the car so that's mine oh why are we so at all
31:09why are we so at all he ran in there he was bleeding everywhere if anyone could tell you yeah
31:14that's why we know that's why we know you were with him in the car and all that that was this morning
31:18not on a police chase right why did you know the police because he shouted mate the young lady denies
31:25being in this car but there's a lovely lorry driver who says that he's seen a lady with red hair
31:29come out and she's got a bit in it she knows what's happening she knows exactly how it works
31:34i'm not in no trouble i haven't been driving that's why you're not in the arrest
31:38anyway if we run this female through before we let her go she's not wanted or anything like that is
31:40she uh negative there's no evidence the woman has committed a crime which was your phone
31:47smashed one or not smashed so she's free to go i'm going to give you some words of advice he
31:55who's driving wants to qualify he knows what he's doing he's longing the game at this
32:04repeat offenders are constantly committing crime it becomes almost a job and if you do a job for
32:09long enough you probably get good at it have a lovely day i will they've got their story and
32:17they'll try and convince you that they're not the person that's done what they're meant to have done
32:21they've got that used to what the criminal justice system does to them they now live their life with
32:26that just as part of it probably the same as myself going to work on a daily basis
32:31the vehicle will be seized and searched for any stolen items
32:38he is obviously made his good escape he's lost his car lost his worldly possessions for the moment
32:45he's already disqualified he'll get some more points now and he'll get further disqualified
32:49and he's just on a downward spiral his time will come in the end
32:54coming up still fairly to stop as the traffic cops close in i'm running a repeat offender goes into
33:08hiding you've got two firearms officers and two taser officers on you come out
33:27it's tuesday night jobs on night can vary really from you know break-ins theft of vehicles
33:34theft of plant with crime on the rise and those responsible often repeat offenders
33:41you normally get some of your criminals acting about on a night shift traffic cops like craig
33:47doors look out for known suspects on the roads repeat offenders are a massive problem on the please
33:54it's just like a roller coaster they get on they get off they get on they get off
33:59i mean now suspect vehicles just been sighted
34:02oscar tango units can start making the way yes yes
34:08just run this vehicle through niche there's intelligence on the vehicle possible cleft
34:13a black audi linked to a known offender with convictions for burglary has been spotted
34:21we're just going over to try and assist our local colleagues they've got a possible theft in
34:26progress we're only just around the corner
34:33several miles away a local police unit is behind the suspect
34:37the local unit that tried to stop the vehicle and he made off
34:45yep just about to go stage six
34:49when you're dealing with repeat offenders as soon as a police car gets behind them
34:53someone's trying to play it cool we're hoping that they don't get spotted
34:56they get others that set the next left next right or just act suspicious
35:01officers have had numerous dealings with this gentleman something's going to happen if he's
35:06up to now good he's a tough customer sometimes to deal with and s can go two three yeah go ahead
35:12contact with the vehicle craig finds the car in a residential estate not stopping speed is three zero
35:22fell into stock and backup is close behind three cars in convoy with me
35:31he's thinking they're going to try and make an escape here they've slowed down what they're
35:36wanting to do is getting kind of a state where they can leg it and go and it makes it harder
35:41for us to find them all the corridors to left left left it's a dead end
35:53he's running
35:54stay there come out open the door now you've driven the vehicle and there's a strong smell of
36:07calamus so open this door
36:12during a fail to stop they'll try and get to an area that they know very well and run off from there
36:17and try and get back to the home address but it's very rare that they'll lead us straight to the front door
36:23come out
36:25you're thinking why has he gone in there has he gone out to get a weapon
36:28he's possibly got something on him that he may not want us to find it gives him that opportunity to
36:33hide it you've got a dog and you've got two firearms officers and two taser officers on you
36:39having had previous dealings with with this gentleman we know that sometimes he can act
36:43irrational you've just got to keep your wits about you because you know anything can happen
36:49do not right get out of the door out out out put your hands on that wall
36:57out what we're doing don't go towards my colleague
37:03get on your knees get your knees on your knees
37:06do you go back in the house
37:09right this gentleman's normal tactic is he will become very abusive very vocal
37:23very agitated right calm down now you're in cuss calm down
37:31we get that reaction sometimes when people are under the influence of drink or drugs
37:36or they've had previous dealings with police and and they want to play up watch your knees
37:40now no no listen don't struggle don't put your knees together knees together there you go
37:46right one two three up right what am i arrested for failing to stop at the moment i haven't failed
37:53to stop right i've got a license and everything man come on me guys please
37:58don't push you don't push me on my neck with the suspect detained there you go can you get all right
38:11craig searches his car
38:17there's a load of black clothing
38:18and even two three was insured on his vehicle yeah insurance is held
38:30there's no evidence the man has committed theft he definitely felt a stop
38:37hey can you organize recovery on this vehicle but the car will be seized after he failed to stop for
38:44police why are they taking my car for what reason all he had to do was stop i didn't stop i've got him
38:50it touched me i didn't stop get him you can never take your eyes off people who's been irate and you
38:59know are up and down are you ringing my face on floor they can seem calm one minute and then the next
39:06they're trying to escape if you do let your wits go and your defense is down that's when it can go wrong
39:11they said i didn't dog i know for a million percent back all coming up this building put blues on
39:31as he's tried to escape from the cops twice the officers are forced to use further restraints
39:36you've got to be so careful their main aim is to escape and they'll do everything that they can
39:46to do that we're gonna stick you up but if you obviously if you kick off you're going straight
39:52back there right up you get the last thing i want to do is get into an argument or a roll around with
39:57somebody you know it's not what i come to work for the officer recognizes the man from a previous
40:14offense yeah well i have a different life that way i didn't have a license and i've got a license now
40:22with the repeat offenders that we deal with you can tell that they've been in the system before
40:25because how confident they are because you've driven a motor you've failed to stop and we'll
40:30do a drug swipe assessment when we deal with someone that's never been in trouble before
40:36and they've made a mistake they're crying they're saying that their lives ended and then you get
40:41somebody who's been in six seven times and they're just so confident they don't care they've got
40:46nothing to lose it's a game for them right stick your tongue out for me i'll do it no you can't do it
40:52no say you're failing to right wait stick your tongue out all right hold on hold on all right
40:57thank you the drug strike was conducted and quite surprising that he did come back negative so why
41:04did he fail to stop at that point he had run off but there's nothing to say he had definitely got
41:09anything that he shouldn't have i'm arresting you on suspicion of failing to stop in a motor vehicle
41:15you don't say to him it may have an offensive you don't mention now something which later on in court
41:18and if you do say maybe use an image the man could receive an unlimited fine for failing to stop
41:25i don't care am i don't know wrong the people that continue to commit crime the punishment don't seem
41:31severe enough they laugh and joke to you when you deal with them you know they'll even say sometimes
41:36oh we'll be back out in 12 hours time here or we'll see you this time next week it's just a big joke i
41:42don't think they take it serious and you know the impact that it could have on other people's lives
41:48every day
41:5170 percent of prolific offenders commit their first crime between the age of 14 and 16.
41:59repeat offenders can get themselves in a cycle and it just becomes part of parts of your life
42:05people are willing to take some incredible risks that's just how they are now it's very
42:09difficult to change someone's behaviors they're forever looking over the shoulder they're forever
42:14worried when there's a tap at the door can't go abroad in case you wanted am i going to be here
42:19at christmas am i going to be having my children's birthdays you know what kind of life's that
42:25repeat offending is a massive issue for us and as long as we keep getting the intelligence through
42:30we'll keep acting on it people need to understand that they can't just keep getting away with it
42:36they're putting people at risk and they don't seem to realize that or they just don't care
42:39please stop in this episode come out here now one detained
42:49the two suspects who were detained after they were spotted in a cloned audi
42:55were both released without action
43:01but both men remain under investigation with derbyshire police for other offenses
43:06it's a white lexus it's come past me and then it's turned right the two suspects that got
43:12away in the white lexus that nearly plowed into the cops have not yet been identified
43:18but inquiries are ongoing open the door before i'll smash it in the re-offender who jumped into
43:25the back seat after he was stopped by police he's got cocaine all over his lap
43:31was over the limit for cocaine cannabis and prescription drugs you guys won't even let me
43:36have a fag shut up he has been summoned to court for drug and disqualified driving
43:45there's there the 68 year old man with previous for theft
43:52who evaded the police and dumped his car at the services
43:55i've not seen anyone matching the description of this mail remains at large it could be anywhere
44:00mate i swear on my kids life it's not in this car with me no action was taken against the red-haired
44:07woman still fell into stock and the known offender with previous for burglary
44:15i was running who made off from police before running and hiding from the cops
44:19out put your hands on that wall was charged with failing to stop i didn't stop get him
44:29he pleaded guilty and was fined 108 pounds
