Venezuela has activated comprehensive internal defense operations across the country starting October 14th, with military exercises and mobilization occurring in several regions including Zulia, Apure, and the capital Caracas. The activation involves multiple security organisms including the Bolivarian Armed Forces, communal militias, and police forces. Minister of Interior and Justice Diosdado Cabello emphasized that these measures are aimed at defending national sovereignty amid increasing tensions with the United States government in Caribbean waters. Despite the military mobilization, normal activities including schools, hospitals, and transportation services continue to function nationwide. The operations include verification of communal militia units and security preparations at critical infrastructure locations throughout the country.
