00:00You
00:27Okay, I'm ready. Oh
00:30Let me know when you guys are ready
00:36Hurry up. Yo, just show us the exit direction. That way, that way. That way, okay.
00:53Uh, Raspani, you ready? I'm ready.
00:56Little ready? Ready. Okay.
00:59So, three, two, one, shoot.
01:03Yeah.
01:04Yeah.
01:05Yeah.
01:06Yeah.
01:07Yeah.
01:08Yeah.
01:09Yeah.
01:10Yeah.
01:11Yeah.
01:12Yeah.
01:13Yeah.
01:14Yeah.
01:15Yeah.
01:16Yeah.
01:20Yeah.
01:21People always ask us to describe it, but it's really hard to describe it.
01:32You've got to experience it.
01:33It's so unique, so special, you're actually flying.
01:45You know, I like to look at life as like an adventure game.
01:50When you're playing your own character, you know that to get to the next level, you have
01:56to take some risk and you have to pass by something to get there.
02:19This is the sport that you can't fuck up.
02:24You never get the second chance.
02:26The day you fuck up is the day you die.
02:33You never get the second chance.
02:39You never get the second chance.
02:41You never get the third chance.
03:13It's too early to work.
03:20So now it's 22, or actually 24.
03:28We're pretty much ready, huh?
03:31Okay, I'm ready, huh?
03:33For a big day of action.
03:34This was mainly my friend Juki Sommer's dream.
03:38He had this idea of gathering a group, a small group of base
03:43jumpers, and pretty much travel the world, go to those epic places,
03:48and really discover how we could use the wingsuits in urban areas
03:53and very exotic areas around the world.
03:56Looks good, huh?
03:58I wanted to come up with a team.
04:00A team that was mixed with people that have different abilities in flying.
04:05And on the top of the list was Espen Fadnes and Ludwig Wurt.
04:10My specialty is flying with a camera.
04:13So the guys want me to follow them.
04:15I'm super happy they asked me to be part of that adventure.
04:19At the same time as you feel the sunrise, you also feel a little intentional
04:22that you're actually going to do a pretty rad base jump.
04:24You're going to do a three-way.
04:25The guys.
04:26Yeah, man.
04:27It's special moments, actually.
04:30Finally, buddy!
04:31I think it's moments that we will remember.
04:34This is the kind of jumps we...
04:37This one I'll really, really strongly remember.
04:40This one I'll remember.
04:41This one's full experience.
04:43Espen, he has been one of the guys that I saw wingsuit proximity flying from
04:49in the early days, when I started skydiving.
04:55I see him as a very strong partner in this team,
04:59simply because of his incredible experience.
05:01The cameraman is starting to be nervous, because it's going to be quite a hard one, this one.
05:07I also wanted to bring Ludwig Wurt, simply because he is an outstanding flyer.
05:13His filming is one of the most incredible in the sport.
05:17He's really in the terrain with you, and he's getting always the shot.
05:24Good jump.
05:25You can do it.
05:26Over and over again.
05:27Good jump, buddy.
05:28So, I think, mixed together, it's going to be a perfect team with Ludo and Espen.
05:34When we sat there and we planned all these journeys, we had this bucket list.
05:38And on top of the bucket list was a re-audition arrow.
05:42Ho回去.
05:52I know in the background.
05:58Wh strap, R yeah.
06:01Un disrespectful.
06:02You don't understand...
06:03Put a hand in it.
06:04Oh my God!
06:08I was thinking more like I might need those 10 meters down there.
06:20The whole idea of this trip to Rio was to make something special out of it.
06:26Because in that city you have the Redeemer, the Jesus Christ statue.
06:31And the idea was to fly and actually use that Redeemer as a gate to fly under the arms of Jesus Christ in a wingsuit and over that city.
06:43I really wanted to do that Jesus Christ statue because it's kind of like to get that visual of that big statue and that iconic structure in the middle of Rio and you're flying there like a bird.
07:00The challenge was that there are no mountains you could jump off to fly by the statue.
07:05So we had to use trikes. This is motorized hang gliders.
07:11And you could only have one person jumping off one trike and we only had two trikes.
07:17So Ludo was the obvious number one person to be on that jump since he was the flying cameraman.
07:25And then the second one had to be either me or Jocke.
07:30And both of us wanted to do this, you know, desperately wanted to do this.
07:36But a choice had to be made and I was fortunate I got to do it.
07:42But a choice had to be made, I was fortunate I got to do it.
07:43So we're just a whole bunch of people who were like,
07:44And kind of like the fact it was a big thing,
07:45and we were like, no, we're so sorry,
07:46Because it was a big thing,
07:49And I'm sorry, because I thought it was like this.
07:50And I said, I had to be made for a story.
07:51And I said, I knew how to do it.
07:52So, I wanted to do it.
07:53And I said, I went well, I said, I said, I tried everything.
07:54We're not sure we'll never know.
07:55And I said, I had a little bit of time and I asked her if I was like,
07:56I didn't know how to do it.
07:57But I'd like it.
07:58And I said I tried to do it.
08:291, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2
08:59I've always had to dream about flying since I was a little kid.
09:12Sometimes when you actually do those jumps with all your friends and you just nail the line,
09:19it's a very good, forgiving, humbling feeling.
09:25There was a little...
09:29He talked about that he wanted to be an astronaut.
09:33He was like a propel, too much energy.
09:39And he was a very polite little boy.
09:44Your life gets so much more rich and filled with joy
09:50because it's not to focus on the money, it's more focused on having the smiles
09:55and wake up in the morning and just doing something you love doing.
10:02Yoke is special, you know?
10:06He's like super stoked, always positive, full of childish energy.
10:11Okay, I'm going to go from here.
10:14He had that childish, you know, blinking stars in his eyes when he found something that could be cool to do.
10:24That was fucking awesome!
10:26And at the same time, he can be really pro when he's doing, when he's preparing his jump.
10:34Some of the jumps we did were actually super technical.
10:38Calculations were done, it was safe, it was well performed.
10:42Everything was nice, like really well made, really pro.
10:46Nothing that you would expect from a child.
10:48Where do you want to stand?
10:49The fact is that I'm actually really, really afraid of heights.
10:53Anyway, it's a simple line, it's straight, right?
10:55And that's maybe part of why I actually started the base jumping thing.
10:59Yeah, I'm actually okay right now, but when I stand on the exit, I'm going to be like, oh shit!
11:07Some places I get really like freaked out, get like almost like on the balance to panic.
11:13I'm like, oh dude, you have to hold my hand.
11:15I was like, Espen, can you hear me? Espen! Espen! Espen!
11:21I wanted to have someone to talk.
11:23Espen, he's for sure by far one of the biggest reasons why I'm actually living my biggest dream today.
11:33He is actually my co-worker.
11:35And it's not everyone that loves their co-worker, even though they have to work with that person.
11:40When you feel it's time to go, just go.
11:43And you just go like this and fuck yeah, see you guys.
11:49Me and Espen usually manage to build each other ideas up.
11:53That's what makes this job so awesome.
11:56The rest of the episode with me and Joki Summer.
12:00Espen is almost annoyingly normal. Like, in a good way.
12:04He is an incredible calm and really nice guy to be around with.
12:10So we are on 2005.
12:12I don't know why I looked at my watch because it doesn't tell the altitude.
12:16It's not very productive to say it like that.
12:18The more productive ways to think ahead and think, okay, how are we as a group to act, be positive and happy and motivated to jump?
12:26It's kind of a glue in the group, I would say.
12:30When we look at Espen and how he developed as a child and how he became later, I see a lot of myself in him.
12:40Allered as a 7-year-old, he was with me out at Julesundet.
12:43It's like a plattrofelsk we have in the neighborhood of Molde.
12:46And that's maybe something that has affected him and what he has done with later.
12:51But that he started with basehopping, that can't be answered.
12:57So the second stop on our journey became Chamonix in France.
13:12It's always sad to leave the sun when you have perfect waves and good weather.
13:18And then you're coming to the Alps.
13:21It looks like we will have maybe one or two days, that's going to be okay.
13:25Hopefully we will have enough visual and especially no wind to be able to do the stunt.
13:31And Chamonix felt like home.
13:34We were supposed to leave 15 minutes earlier.
13:37Yeah, yeah, yeah, 20 minutes.
13:39Stop talking about the time.
13:42I've been living there for several seasons skiing.
13:46And for Ludo this was truly home.
13:51He lives just down the valley from the city of Chamonix.
13:54And there you really see the size of it.
13:57And in a way we wanted to show Jukka this epic place.
14:03On top of Guinebidi is a bridge.
14:06And it's about 20 meters under the bridge.
14:09It's about 10, 15 meters wide.
14:11And I had this dream for five years and that is to fly under that bridge with my wingsuit.
14:16And just follow the couloir down onto the glacier, down to Chamonix.
14:21It would look freaking rad.
14:23I really like to do precision flying and it has kind of been my thing for a long time.
14:29So when I saw the Guinebidi bridge and what Espen had in mind, I was extremely excited and I couldn't really wait to get into the air.
14:39You have this cable going down here, crossing the line that you need to fly to get under the bridge but over the couloir.
14:52I was standing on top of this bridge and I could feel my fear of heights kicking in.
14:57I get sick of my son just standing on this bridge.
15:00Why?
15:01Because it's so sketchy.
15:02Oh come on.
15:03It's not sketchy to stand here.
15:05It's not sketchy.
15:06It has to be well prepared.
15:07It feels sketchy.
15:08If you're actually in danger of hitting the cable, you're way too low.
15:12You're actually so low that you will hit snow and rocks at the same time.
15:15And it's true that it blocks half the way.
15:18So it cuts our window in half.
15:21But it's still big enough, I think.
15:24And I have to say that I was quite nervous on that first attempt because I have brought my friends to Chamonix, promised them that this was doable.
15:33Honestly, I didn't know if this was doable.
15:41Preparing for a jump is the strangest thing.
15:44The most, if you can call it, nerve-wrecking moment I have is when I wake up.
15:50And I think it is because that's the point of the day, the time of the day where I have the most uncertainty.
15:58Because I haven't seen the weather.
16:00I haven't started mentally preparing for the jump yet.
16:04I just know it's going to happen.
16:06The whole day becomes this steady pace with less and less uncertainty and a better, better plan until the moment where I stand on top of the mountain.
16:18And that's actually the moment where I'm at the calmest.
16:21Because then I know, I have concluded, I have done all the preparation I can and it just feels great.
16:28You guys focused?
16:29Good?
16:30Yeah.
16:31Okay.
16:32Sure.
16:33But the feeling when I stand there on the edge and I let go is a pure feeling of control.
16:40From that bridge it's 2,800 meters all the way down to the city of Chamonix.
16:59And we wanted to jump out of a helicopter, all three of us.
17:03We're jumping from here?
17:05Come on, let's see.
17:06Okay.
17:07We're getting into position over the bridge.
17:10Smell clean.
17:11Aspen.
17:12Still forecast.
17:13All right.
17:14Let's go.
17:16Look man!
17:17They did it!
17:18They did it!
17:19They did it!
17:20They did it!
17:21They did it!
17:22They did it!
17:23They did it!
17:24They did it!
17:25They did it!
17:26They did it!
17:27They did it!
17:28They did it!
17:29They did it!
17:30They did it!
17:31They did it!
17:32They did it!
17:33They did it!
17:34They did it!
17:35They did it!
18:22We finally made it.
18:36All of us managed to fly under the bridge, and just the feeling of going through the hole
18:43and just feeling that exceptional explosion of adrenaline rush was such a huge moment
18:50for us.
18:52That was the peak of my life so far, to land down there on the ground in Chamonix, and
18:59really feeling that we are going out in the world with big plans, and we nailed them.
19:07Every time we nailed Rio, now we nail Agui.
19:11After the jump in Chamonix, I was so fired up.
19:18I'm extremely proud of the whole team that we pulled together such a unique project and
19:23a stunt that is so hard to actually achieve.
19:26And now, it's all a wrap, and we can celebrate.
19:30It's such a humbling, unique feeling, and a joyful moment where you know everyone is safe, and
19:39you can just live on those ephorias.
19:41You're a family.
19:45No Francis.
19:46No Francis.
19:46No Francis.
19:51Yes.
19:51...
19:53So ladies and gentlemen—
19:57Do you—
19:59After Rio and Chamonix, we kind of felt like we wanted to go and fly some lines again and
20:28just go out and explore new terrain without having a focus of doing a big stunt.
20:35And we heard some rumours about an amazing island in the Indian Ocean called Reunion Island.
20:40Oh, paradise, huh?
20:44Paradise without, like, even the fantasy sets your limits, dude.
20:50It is the most beautiful place I've ever been in my life.
20:58The first thing we did was to go down to ULM base, which is ultralight airplanes.
21:08We wanted to go up with the wingsuits and just check out the place, just get a feeling of
21:13what we're about to do.
21:15So, we just wait for the command from your pilots?
21:20Yeah.
21:21Always be a little too low.
21:23Yeah.
21:24A little too low.
21:25So, we flew up in one airplane each because you can only be one person in each airplane.
21:37All of a sudden, we came above the clouds and it was like paradise just opened up to my eyes.
21:50We found a line and we knew where to go.
21:52It was just to get the message to the pilots, three to one, and try out Reunion Island.
21:59And I'm going to go down to you.
22:02All right.
22:03Thanks for watching.
22:04Thank you so much.
22:05Bye.
22:07Bye.
22:08Bye.
22:09Bye.
22:10Bye.
22:11Bye.
22:12Bye.
22:13Bye.
22:14Bye.
22:15Bye.
22:16Bye.
22:17Bye.
22:18Bye.
22:19Bye.
22:20Bye.
22:21Bye.
22:22Bye.
22:23Bye.
22:24Bye.
22:25Bye.
22:26Bye.
22:27How are you doing?
22:55Ben?
22:57Fuck my knee, man.
23:00Oh, but that was beautiful, huh?
23:12The idea about this trip was to fly the nicest line,
23:16find the perfect flight.
23:18What's up, Ludo?
23:20But, you know, realising that waking up in the beach house,
23:24hearing the waves pounding on the beach,
23:28and having my friends around,
23:30that beautiful weather on that super nice island.
23:33You know, I realised that that's actually going to be the memories
23:36that will stay with me forever.
23:38Hello?
23:40How are you doing?
23:42I'll remind you of 10 minutes.
23:44Okay.
23:47Ludo, our camera flyer, he is like my big brother.
23:51He's really unique for us because he, of course, he can fly incredibly good,
23:57and he always get the shot.
23:59Did you get that on the car?
24:00I have the car with both of them.
24:02Oh, perfect.
24:03That one was super nice.
24:04Sometimes frustrating, but that's also rewarding to be able to be that guy
24:09that provides the good footage, because if it's now on camera, it didn't happen.
24:15So for us, as a team, he's our most important tool and our most important flyer.
24:22What I can really see now, after the months we have been working together,
24:28is that he has finally achieved his biggest dream,
24:33to become a professional camera flyer.
24:37Oh, my God. And you're still filming when I'm having my smoke, huh?
24:49That's who you are, man.
24:51You should have seen the description of you in the Norwegian newspaper.
24:54Yeah, I've been told that it was funny.
24:56The chain-smoking hardcore Dewar from France,
25:00drinking the morning beer before the day starts.
25:04I thought, like, the Norwegian guys, they were, like, really on time.
25:08The Frenchies, they're, like, Ludo, man. He's super on time, you know?
25:12This is, like, my head is locked on the really important things,
25:16and the rest is just chaos.
25:17The funny thing about our group is that Espen,
25:20he always loses his stuff in the morning.
25:22You okay? You okay?
25:24Vamos, vamos.
25:25I'm the one that got born five minutes late.
25:28One hour late.
25:29We were supposed to leave at 7.30.
25:32All right, Ludo, attention!
25:34And Ludo, he's the one that is whipping us around.
25:38We have a different approach to the jump, you know?
25:40You, like, yeah, it's gonna be fun, whatever, you know?
25:44If it's not now, it's gonna be later, whatever.
25:47It's a jump, it's always gonna be fun.
25:49Warning and angry?
25:51I can't be serious for two seconds.
25:56I can't, dude!
25:57It puts me into an emotional holocaust,
26:00because I'm a little bit more stressed out.
26:02Hey, if you are stressed out, like, tell us, you know?
26:05It's good, because I don't like that jumpers are stressed out,
26:09or, like, they don't like that, or, like,
26:11I want everyone to be open about exactly how they feel all the time.
26:14You know that I actually take longer than you to prepare?
26:18I just anticipate.
26:19Yeah, you manage to wake up early.
26:21That's a problem Espen and me, we have, you know?
26:27I'm that early bird because that is the only time in the day
26:32when I can be alone with myself.
26:35I like that moment when I can hear the sounds of the mountain,
26:41all the birds that are starting to sing around,
26:45and that fog in the morning,
26:48and that nature that is waking up around me,
26:52that is kind of a mystical moment.
26:55And that is very important to me,
26:57to keep myself concentrated and quiet
27:02and be ready for the action that's coming.
27:07Yorke, Espen and me, we know each other now for a while.
27:11We've been jumping together for some time,
27:13and we kind of set up kind of a ritual together.
27:19I wake up early, I get my cup of coffee,
27:22I get my cigarette in the morning,
27:24and then we meet up together in the morning
27:27and start thinking about what we're doing,
27:31look up at the mountain, check out what the weather looks like.
27:36And that's the kind of ritual that we've put together
27:40and that makes us a good team.
27:44That's actually a very good way of working together
27:48that puts us, everybody, in a good mood
27:52for what we're going to do in the day.
27:56Deep in China, you have some almost weird mountains.
28:14The mountain region is called Tianmen Mountains.
28:19And this was the location for the film Avatar.
28:25That's how spectacular and different those mountains are.
28:29And very often you have this mist lower in the valley,
28:32so it looks like all these mountains are just floating.
28:35They're not even touching the ground.
28:37And they're actually very good for base jumping.
28:40Wow, very cool.
28:46That's badass, huh?
28:49Yeah.
28:50Come here, I suppose.
28:51Let's go on the other side, I suppose.
28:53Or, yeah.
28:54Fans?
28:55Haha.
28:56So there we went.
28:57And even though I knew inside myself that this is safe mountains,
29:04you get this extra respect.
29:09And I think it has something to do with the unfamiliar.
29:20Are you guys ready?
29:23No, we're not ready.
29:26We are discussing the conditions.
29:27One of the biggest issues we're facing when jumping in the mountains is the wind.
29:32And one of the days in China, it was extremely windy when we came to the top.
29:37Fuck, I had so many, like, bad wide jumps.
29:41I was a little afraid that he was going to do wrong, of course.
29:44But he's not the one who lets him press.
29:46And I told myself I'm never ever going to let a camera push me to do when I have a bad feeling.
29:52I really have a bad feeling.
29:54Yeah?
29:55That is my main fucking problem.
29:56And that is my main fucking problem.
29:57And that is my main problem.
29:58And that is my main problem.
29:59And that is my main problem.
30:00And that is my main problem.
30:01Everything can fly around.
30:02But it looks like that the job is serious.
30:05We had a lot of luck and good things happening for us so far on our trips.
30:11But when we came to China, suddenly things were actually working more against us.
30:16Okay.
30:17Just let us know.
30:20I know that people that care about me worry.
30:23Because I feel the same when I see my friends do very technical, difficult lines skiing.
30:30Or I see a good friend pushing his limits as a Bayesian bird.
30:35Then I can just imagine how much my mother worries on my father, my sisters, brothers, good friends.
30:40They don't jump themselves.
30:42They don't know the sport.
30:43They don't know how I deal with risk management.
30:46They are just worried.
30:48When I started with basehopping, I was afraid of him.
30:52It just needed.
30:53I didn't try to stop him or tell him to finish.
30:57And it's clear that they see the risk in it.
31:00But I actually have no other strategy there than to talk with him.
31:04I can talk with him.
31:06I can see the movies.
31:08I can talk with the other people in the environment.
31:11And actually just choose to believe that Espen also thinks about security.
31:17And that's what I do.
31:19So maybe I don't need to think about that.
31:20I think my husband is good.
31:21I think that I can also consider that my son has goals for security and risk management.
31:37the other him this is this is the big downside of doing this sport because
31:42after all it's all about for me life it's about relations it's about people
31:48who care about it's about the moments I have it people I like and love and and
31:55it's a huge downside that I bring this worry upon the people I care the most
32:00it's a go yes we are in the cable car sweet okay perfect we're ready let's do this thing
32:30I remember I had this this bad
33:00stomach feeling for three four days after I just constantly walked around
33:06with this bad feeling this feeling of not doing what I am supposed to I am not
33:14supposed to do those mistakes I'm not supposed to put myself situations like
33:17that I'm kind of looking straight into a cable car I see people and it's really
33:24coming fast towards me I don't know what I did I just acted intuitive and bent up
33:33my arms my chest everything I had and tried to move left I mean I was seriously
33:38close to that cable car if I have hit that cable car I don't think anyone would
33:43survive it's just this moment of out of control Rio Chamonix and reunion were all
33:50amazing destinations where actually everything went perfect but after the
33:56incident in China things were starting to work against us and we were actually
34:01not even prepared for what was actually coming I often think that one day the
34:07police will call me and say instead I tried to prepare prepare myself but of course you
34:17can't do that so if this happened I don't know what to do
34:24well two years ago I was flying with one of my friend and I actually filmed him going in he
34:36impacted in the trees and that was that was a really tough moment for me for sure because he
34:45was it was very good friend of mine well it almost destroyed me honestly because that was the first time
34:52I was there filming I was filming in so I actually saw the accident there was a very close friend of
35:03mine so it was really really hard to to cope with I must say I spent a few months not jumping because I
35:14didn't feel it it was it was too hard it was bringing back bringing bad memories but in the
35:22end you know the my passion came first after a few months I just started jumping again I enjoyed it
35:33again and life goes on even if you lose some friends it's really hard on the moment for sure but it's
35:41like all experience in life you you go through tough moments and then you keep going it's really bad
35:49actually because the thing is that usually and wind is not a big issue because we jump in big open
35:57space in the mountains but in the city all almost just two meters per second is can be horrible and it
36:03can really fuck you up big time as this sport is extremely dangerous I'm nowadays looking for more
36:23reasons not to jump than to actually jump so right now it's not jumpable at least not from my from my
36:34perspective so it needs to be perfect weather perfect conditions safe exits or that everything that goes
36:41together makes me feel hundred and ten percent good we had a dream of going to spectacular city and do
36:51something entirely different jumping buildings in Bangkok is definitely hard because some of them
36:58you really need to to have a good plan you know it feels like the wind is coming from there but it's
37:03actually coming from over there so right here it's so much rotors a little bit scary because I don't
37:10want my canopy to land like on the highway and then get snagged by one of those cars that would be the end of it
37:15yeah it's annoying enough to well it's I know I know it's scary but we're gonna have a look around and
37:29see if we can find something else okay yeah it's quite interesting to be in Bangkok because when we're in
37:37the mountains Ludo was the main man this is Peter on the edge and this is a known really special part of
37:45France home sweet home the most experienced the tough guy the guy that always knew the answer well
37:53you can always quite insecure wondering where to go what to do not sure if this is smart I'm kind of in
38:00between but when we were in Bangkok it was completely the other other way I love jumping buildings it's
38:07so far it's like being inside an action movie and you are the actual stuntman star and everything at
38:14the once you give us experience when he's done quite a lot of building jumps and Ludo had done none he
38:22was obviously not comfortable I must admit I don't feel super good with jumping buildings because I never
38:30did it I have mixed feelings I'm a little bit nervous he didn't really want to do it he was so
38:36nervous and so uncomfortable he could clearly see that this was not his place I am mentally preparing
38:42to land on that narrow street down there you really have to put your mind and effort into being able to do
38:51a jump you have to actually come up with a really solid plan and stick to it and kind of just just have
39:03the nerves to to live it true considering and planning a mission like that it's still a little bit like
39:12you know you can feel the you can feel the adrenaline building up but once you're committing once you're
39:19starting to to play the game and do it in real life that's when the nerves start kicking in a bit
39:27nervous I must admit I'm about to do something I'm not used to you stoked man yeah oh man nervous oh I
39:41love my job though but it is pretty nerve-wracking sometimes all your cameras are good
39:49right yeah you're good as well my friend have a good one huh have fun buddy three two one
40:01perfect that was a very ugly exit
40:31yeah I was a little bit nervous up there I decided to uh to go with Espen just do a two-way and go
40:45straight how much are you going to run as much as possible I'll do it not that much
40:53ready okay ready okay ah for sure it's good yeah I'm good all right
41:01three two one step
41:07so
41:12so
41:15I'm down, I'm down.
41:43Yeah, stay cool.
41:45Okay?
41:46Fuck me.
41:52I fell down probably seven, eight meters in vertical, straight down into the street,
42:02landing on my feet, just got a big cut in one of my heels.
42:07The other heel was broken, full of adrenaline, I pretended that everything was fine.
42:12Yeah, I am in pain, so I gotta check out my legs.
42:19Fuck!
42:20I think it was more painful mentally than physically.
42:25Not good at all.
42:27Not good.
42:28My lowest moment in life when it comes to risk management.
42:32Totally embarrassing.
42:35I'm holding my elbow.
42:36I'm holding my elbow.
42:37I'm holding my elbow.
42:38Okay.
42:39Fucking ventures.
42:42It may be broken as well.
42:48Things can go wrong so incredibly fast that this sport scares me more and more and more
42:55every year.
42:56I feel the same every year.
42:57I'm not more nervous or something like that.
42:58It's just that the sport in general scares me the longer I'm in it.
43:11Me and Jochen Ludo talked a lot about the future and what to do and what to not do.
43:16Give me a hug, buddy.
43:17We pretty much agreed that we were taking two big chances.
43:21I kind of hit so hard on the ground that it opened up here.
43:27But Ludo didn't agree 100% though.
43:30He believed in proximity flying.
43:33He was kind of in love with it, I have to say.
43:37It was his thing.
44:00It was the most horrible text message I've ever received.
44:16It was a quote.
44:20Ludo is dead.
44:23Dan is dead.
44:25Brian is in a coma.
44:27I'm sorry.
44:29That was all it said.
44:34I panicked.
44:38Because it's just eight, ten words.
44:43But those words to receive such a serious message just in words.
44:54I just couldn't believe it.
44:58I almost felt like vomiting.
45:00Juki was down in his hotel room, a few stairs down.
45:07And I had to go down and talk to him.
45:12And I didn't know how to do it.
45:15So I just ran down, opened the door.
45:21And I could see on his face that he didn't have good news to bring.
45:27And as soon as he said, Ludo is dead, I kind of got the feeling that I already knew it.
45:36And it was this strange, strange feeling that I had a feeling earlier that day that something had happened.
45:44And when he told me, I was like, I can't be true.
45:54One of the most important guys in our team was dead.
45:59And we were there in Dubai and he was supposed to be with us.
46:06And it's the toughest hours of my life, I think.
46:11I knew almost instantly that I was no longer a proximity flyer.
46:21That journey we did in 2013 was supposed to be the beginning.
46:27The beginning of a friendship and journeys together.
46:33Super fun!
46:34Oh shit!
46:36That was scary, but fun!
46:38Oh my god!
46:39That was awesome.
46:40That makes the end of the day.
46:42What he experienced in the last two years, just the last two years of his life,
46:47is something that for some other people, they don't even experience it in an entire lifetime.
46:54So it's not about like how old you get.
46:57It's actually about how many, how many livable moments do you have before it's your call.
47:07Like death is something that for most people is just looked upon as negative.
47:15But no one really knows what it means.
47:18So in the end it's, it's something that I will just keep the good memories of him alive and think about him.
47:27I think about him a lot when I jump and when I travel around, you know,
47:32I think about like, ah, Ludo, would I love this one?
47:35And you know, what would Ludo, how would the stoke in Ludo's eyes have been after this jump?
47:42And you know, those are the good memories and then we just have to hope that he's doing something.
47:48Or he's on a new adventure and a new path.
47:51I don't know, you never know.
47:52Like life is an adventure.
47:54I can see the wind is changing.
47:58A lot of people in the community is now stepping away from proximity flying.
48:03There's only a small group of people, maybe less than 10 people that are profiled proximity flyers still today.
48:13The rest of us is trying to find another path.
48:18The reality is that you're going to die no matter what anyways.
48:22So I think if it's worth dying for, it's only if it actually gives you everything you dream of in your life.
48:34You all ready?
48:35Ready.
48:36Okay.
48:37So three, two, one, two.
48:41One,
48:48Two, three, two.
48:49One, two, three.
48:52One, two, three.
48:54Four, three, four, three.
49:03One, two, three.
