00:04:29Take a thousand customer service calls an hour?
00:04:34Help coders will go.
00:04:37Why not?
00:05:09We are proud to collaborate with Google, a giant who's achieved so much in these past
00:05:1525 years.
00:05:16We are hopeful that their technology, AI, will benefit and empower Secret Mountain to a whole
00:05:25new level.
00:08:56Today, we stand at the threshold of the most transformative shift.
00:09:26use the power of Google and Google Cloud, use the power of Google Cloud to build for the future.
00:09:33We believe that AI.
00:10:34Thank you, Mr. Thomas, thank you.
00:12:24And we'll scale to multiple gigawatts.
00:13:11And with that, we see it not just becoming a landing station for a large number of cables,
00:13:18but also providing a digital backbone connecting different parts of India together.
00:13:22So we are not just bringing AI technology, but also a digital infrastructure through our subsea cable and network connectivity hub.
00:13:32Now, you may ask what will be inside this AI hub?
00:13:38When we say an AI hub, we mean a full stack of solutions.
00:13:43We have our own technology called TPUs, Tensor Processing Units, that provides the foundational elements for AI processing.
00:13:53And they're very efficient.
00:13:54They are twice as power efficient.
00:13:57So for the same amount of electricity, we can generate twice the number of computational infrastructure.
00:14:04We will house data locally to meet sovereign AI requirements.
00:14:09We will bring our own models, and by our own models, Gemini, Imagine, Veo, and all of our models, as well as our AI platform,
00:14:20and the ability to build agents and applications with it.
00:14:24So it's designed to provide a full AI infrastructure, and it is designed to serve not just our own needs,
00:14:33but the needs of entrepreneurs, enterprises, and commercial organizations here in India.
00:14:42So it's a broad portfolio of solutions.
00:14:45More importantly, this same AI technology that sits in the hub is also powering Google's most iconic consumer products and services.
00:14:57And so for the first time with the AI hub, we will also be bringing these services, Google search, YouTube, Gmail, ads,
00:15:07and all our consumer services to be served from India in this AI hub.
00:15:14This long-term vision we have is to accelerate India's own AI mission by bringing our AI technology to serve the country.
00:15:27We see this as providing best-in-class AI technology to companies.
00:15:33You will see us investing in building training and skills so that India continues to lead with expertise.
00:15:43We see this as meeting the regulatory requirements of India's sovereign AI needs.
00:15:49And we see this as building a talent pipeline for the young people of India to learn and become world experts in AI.
00:15:59Finally, we see this hub not just serving India, but from India serving Asia and other parts of the world.
00:16:09Part of the reason we're investing in the connectivity hub and the network infrastructure is to connect this,
00:16:16not just to serve all of India, but from India to serve other parts of the world as well.
00:16:21So, thank you once again to the government of India, Chief Minister Naidoo, and for all the support we've had.
00:16:31This is an incredibly important milestone date for us, a very auspicious day.
00:16:36And from everyone at Google, the warmest wishes to each and every one of you here and to the people of India.
00:16:43It's our small contribution towards the Viksit Bharat vision for 2047. Thank you.
00:16:55A huge thank you to Thomas. I request all of you to give him a warm round of applause for this momentous announcement.
00:17:07We are all incredibly thrilled.
00:17:11It's now my distinct pleasure to invite the following esteemed individuals to join Thomas on the stage for a fireside chat.
00:17:19I'd call upon my colleague, Vikash Kohle, Vice President of Infrastructure, Cloud Infrastructure, who will be moderating the session.
00:17:27Srimathi Nirmala Sitaramanji, Honourable Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs.
00:17:33Madam.
00:17:36Sri Chandra Babu Naidoo, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
00:17:40Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, INB, Electronics and Information Technology.
00:17:50Shri Nara Lokesh, Minister of IT, Electronics, Communications, Human Resource Development for Andhra Pradesh.
00:17:58Let's give a big applause to this forum.
00:18:01Honourable Ministers, it's a real privilege for all of us to host you at Bharati Aish Shakti, along with the CEO of Google Cloud, Thomas Kurian.
00:18:29Namaste and welcome.
00:18:32It's a very auspicious day for us and it's the beginning of a journey that we are taking with the vision of Viksit Bharat in India.
00:18:41In that context, Minister Sitaraman, as initiatives like this AI Hub that we are doing in India,
00:18:49that underscores India's growing digital leadership,
00:18:54how do you think policy and institutional framework,
00:18:59they would continue to create an environment that would nurture innovations, first of all,
00:19:05but then position India as the absolute leading country in both global technology and the AI revolution that we are seeing around the world?
00:19:14Thank you and congratulations for the launch today.
00:19:23I'm sure it's going to augur well for the sector.
00:19:27And also I think if I'm not too much in a haste to add a dimension which I would have loved to bring in a bit later,
00:19:36launching it and also landing the cables in Andhra Pradesh I think speaks so much about the synergy between progressive policy making
00:19:47and also dynamism and decision making in governance because several things can be in the files and in the papers,
00:19:57but when execution happens with the Vishnari leadership,
00:20:02like I would say the policies and the strategies which Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi brings into India
00:20:10and you can see that between 2014 and today several such policy enablers have been part of the policy here,
00:20:17governance here and so with the public has done and therefore I think it is just the right place to land in
00:20:26and also the right country to be in.
00:20:29So the specific thing about your question is the temperament and the vision of the leadership itself
00:20:39has been tested and tried over decades whether when he was a chief minister in Gujarat
00:20:45or subsequently on becoming the prime minister of the country
00:20:49and you also have a very technically savvy minister taking the lead
00:20:54and as a result you're constantly pushing the policy more towards where it should be
00:21:01rather than competing and trying to catch up.
00:21:06The very tendency and attitude of government being that, both at the state and at the centre,
00:21:12you're actually in a country, in a state and of course from the state towards the entire country
00:21:18and also as you said from here to the globe.
00:21:21It's been one of those very interesting phases in Indian history where policy is pushing ahead
00:21:30much before many of the parties in the political arena are even ready to absorb it.
00:21:38They see the result and as a result everybody has no other sense but to have their states
00:21:44where they are in power also to compete in this which I think is eventually absolutely good for the country
00:21:51because that's the kind of positive competition you want and also that awareness that without these sort of enabling policies
00:21:59you're not going to be able to take India towards 2047 when we hope to have developed status in all parameters.
00:22:08Thank you Minister Sitaram and indeed having the policy leading the path to the new technologies that are coming in
00:22:18it's going to be instrumental to building India the centre of AI revolution that's happening.
00:22:23Chief Minister Naidoo, you have been instrumental in shaping Hyderabad as the global tech capital with the high-tech city.
00:22:33Now, with Vizag being the first AI hub at this scale in India, how do you envision Andhra Pradesh becoming the centre of high-tech as well as AI in India?
00:22:50Very nice of you for your positive comments on me.
00:22:58This is a very, very auspicious day and also a very, very happy day for me, not only for me, for all of us.
00:23:11First of all, I have to thank the Honourable Prime Minister. He has made it possible.
00:23:19After that, our finance minister, our excellency, she has done very well.
00:23:28In a way, our IT minister, he has done, when I muted the idea, he was very positive.
00:23:38Google has to come to India. That is the attitude. And also our IT minister, he also worked with you all the way he came to your office.
00:23:51He spent so much of time. At that time, he briefed me. After that, we had a meeting. We thought we had to complete 12 months' time.
00:24:03Now one month, 13 months, we are able to clinch it. I am proud of you. Amen.
00:24:16Always, I am a great admirer of Google. Your creativity, your speed. That is very, very important.
00:24:28Just now, our friend has shown transformational changes in information technology.
00:24:35Fortunately, I was associated all these phases. From iTech City and IT promotion, started in Hyderabad.
00:24:47That is late 90s. Today, 2025, we are talking about data center and artificial intelligence.
00:24:59Really, it is very inspiring. And also, Visya Kapatnam. At that time, Hyderabad. Now, Visya Kapatnam.
00:25:08Even Hyderabad, I brought Microsoft at that time. First time, Microsoft has come to Hyderabad. Today, Google has come to Visya Kapatnam.
00:25:23We are very happy. According to me, we are in inspiring time. Technology has matured. I have seen once land-line telephones.
00:25:40It was ornamental. Never it worked. That is how we used to do lightning call. We used to take one week or ten days or never matured. That was the days.
00:25:55So, even everybody is having a smartphone. Penetration and use of AI is very high in India. They are using AI. Now, we have to drive to take next level.
00:26:11With all our things. One is connectivity, digital connectivity. Second is data center and AI. Real-time data collection. And also, integration of historical data and global knowledge. It will be a deadly combination.
00:26:33According to me, our prime minister. According to me, our prime minister has visualized vision because it's Bharat 2047. We can achieve well in advance by using all these techniques. We are having strong prime minister. He is a visionary. Not only visionary, he can understand technology.
00:26:54I have seen so many prime minister. I have seen so many prime ministers so far. I have worked with them. I took so much of time to push technologies. But present prime minister, he pushes to move forward. That is the…
00:27:13I have a witness.
00:27:14Not only you, not only you, all of us. If you ask something, he will say, why can't you go improved version of that. That is the speed and also is very, very proactive. He understands technology. That is the beauty of all these things. Now, we are asking. Yesterday, I met him. We are talking. Google is coming.
00:27:39He is thinking. He is thinking now February, a global conference in India. Now, already he has reached there. Now, it is a big challenge for you compared to all public policymakers in other countries. India is different. Our prime minister is different. You have to prepare for that.
00:27:58For all these things. For all these things, Andhra Pradesh will be the host from now onwards. It is our project, not only Google project. Government of Andhra Pradesh will support all possible ways to make it successful.
00:28:14We are having an ambitious plan. We are having an ambitious plan of 15 percent growth rate. I am confident there will be a lot of changes, breakthrough changes in all walks of life. Either health or agriculture or education or the way we are thinking, everything will change. That is very simple word I am saying now. Don't work hard, work smart. That is going to happen.
00:28:41With your entry now.
00:28:44With your entry now. Visaka Patnam Korean has given good news. 15 billion US dollars within five years time. That is a welcome news. Not only that. You have to make. I am having an ambition.
00:28:59One family, one entrepreneur, one family, earlier I told one IT professional, now I am telling one AI use cases they have to prepare or every family has to use AI, artificial intelligence in their walks of life, in all walks of life.
00:29:22It is possible, but ethically, and also all security problems, you have to take care, but AI as such is not, nobody should oppose, but at the same time, how to protect and how to safeguard ethical values, that is also very important. Thank you.
00:29:42Thank you very much, Chief Minister Naidu. I really appreciate it.
00:29:46Minister Vaishnav, as India is really accelerating the AI journey, especially with the India AI mission, how do you see these global partnerships like the AI hub that we announced with a $15 billion investment,
00:30:01how does that contribute to the infrastructure and the journey that India is on, on really being a global leader in AI and innovation, especially with the Vikshedvarad vision in 2047?
00:30:14First of all, let me thank you for making this announcement of $15 billion.
00:30:19This digital infrastructure will go a long way in meeting the goals of our India AI mission, so thank you for that.
00:30:28I would also like to thank Honourable Prime Minister for giving us this vision of using technology in every walk of our life.
00:30:36And all of us who grew up in 80s and 90s, we all know Honourable Chief Minister Shri Naiduji's push for technology, his vision for technology and his execution.
00:30:48So both the Prime Minister and Honourable CM, they never get satisfied.
00:30:53Whatever we do and Lokesh, agree?
00:30:58I agree, sir.
00:30:59Whatever we do, they'll set up totally new standards and that's the way our country will be built towards the developed nation status.
00:31:07I also would like to thank Honourable Finance Minister for very positive, very strong support in this entire policy for data centers.
00:31:17Without your support, ma'am, it wouldn't have been possible to really reach this level.
00:31:23This AI hub will be a very important contribution to the AI mission goals in three different ways.
00:31:31First, skilling.
00:31:33We all know that AI is fundamentally changing the way the world moves today.
00:31:37Under such circumstances, there is a serious concern among a lot of IT professionals of what their jobs will be, how their lives will be impacted.
00:31:48So it's very important for all of us, especially the industry, to re-skill and up-skill our IT professionals in a major way.
00:31:58Not at a very small scale, but at a very, very, very major, rapid scale, at a totally different scale and at a totally different pace.
00:32:08I would request Google to help the IT industry in that.
00:32:12I was having a word with Mr. Corian before coming to this meeting here.
00:32:17AI skilling, re-skilling for the IT professionals.
00:32:20Please make it a major part of your entire agenda here.
00:32:25The second thing is about the undersea, subsea cable.
00:32:31My request is that Andaman is a very strategic location.
00:32:37Singapore is today all choked.
00:32:39Why can't we make Andaman as the next big hub for global internet data transfer?
00:32:47We'll, from the Government of India's perspective, we'll provide full support for this.
00:32:52Andaman can actually help Google and every other internet-based organization to reach to Southeast Asia, to Australia, to a large part of the world which is today looking at totally new capacity.
00:33:10I'll also make a small little request.
00:33:12Please make a link from VISAG to SITVE in Myanmar so that we can take the cable up to the northeastern states because northeastern states require much better connectivity.
00:33:28The current connectivity that we are providing via the railway networks, rail-tel network, that requires significant augmentation.
00:33:38And if we can really go via Myanmar to Mizoram, already the railway line up to Sairang is, Mizoram is done.
00:33:45And Honorable Prime Minister has directed us to extend that line all the way to Myanmar border.
00:33:51So, and a highway is already getting constructed from SITVE.
00:33:54So, that is second thing I'll request you.
00:33:57And the third point I'll request is AI services are emerging as a major new category, as Honorable Chief Minister also said.
00:34:05It's emerging as a totally new category of, in our economy, in the digital economy.
00:34:12Can we use this facility for developing the talent, developing the employment potential, for developing our youth, for AI services as a totally new category of digital economy?
00:34:27These are the three points I'll request and, of course, you have Mr. Kurian just confirmed that a large part of this AI compute facility will be part of the common compute that we have in the AI machine.
00:34:45And we welcome your TPUs to compete with NVIDIA's GPUs.
00:34:50So, we really, we would really look forward to you joining the common compute facility.
00:34:56Thank you very much, Minister Vaishnav.
00:34:59Yes, the infrastructure around the AI hub, including the subsea cable systems, they're a big part of our vision with India.
00:35:06And we're very committed to working with your team on that.
00:35:10Thomas, can you share a bit more on the importance of today's announcement when it comes to achieving the Vixit Bharat 2047 vision that the Government of India has put out?
00:35:22So, really, like, from your vantage point, how can this partnership accelerate advances in AI, but more importantly, transforming sector like healthcare, education, agriculture, touching common people's everyday life?
00:35:36It's, you know, it's a really important day for us because Google, when we started working on AI back in 2006, 2007, at that time, AI was not seen as a mainstream technology.
00:35:52And we had this vision that if you can have computational intelligence, it can really assist people in every sector and in every part of the economy.
00:36:04We've had a teacher in Hyderabad send us a note about one of our products and how she used it to build academic curriculum for her class.
00:36:21And she said, I had access to this tool, I just went on the internet, and I was able to build a class for my students, which would have been very difficult for me to do before.
00:36:33We're seeing AI being used to answer questions when people are diagnosed with a disease.
00:36:39For example, they go to see a doctor, they're anxious about the diagnosis, and they may have follow-on questions, many of them who live in rural areas may not have access to expert doctors, but now using these AI tools, they're able to get answers to questions.
00:36:59We've seen, for example, people using digital agricultural platforms, farmers, for example, asking very basic questions like what kind of fertilizer do they use, how much do they use, what kind of weather conditions are likely to affect crops.
00:37:21And the knowledge that these tools have can assist them in planning, planting, harvesting a lot better.
00:37:31We're also working with our teams here in India, our engineering teams, to put together digital infrastructure for commerce, for various kinds of, to bring merchants online, so it's much easier to offer your products and services to people.
00:37:48And we see AI being used, for example, to build a commerce agent that can help people find products and services they need, transact using newer payment protocols that have no friction and are very easy to use.
00:38:06And so we see all of these as advances in technology that we're bringing through the AI Hub.
00:38:12Now, for us, our vision with this AI Hub has always been to foster the creativity in the entrepreneurial community here in India, to help young people who are growing up to be able to be skilled with these tools and technologies,
00:38:32because any technology requires skills development and training on how to use it, and lastly, through the infrastructure we are putting in place to also connect India with the rest of Asia and directly with the United States.
00:38:50So we see the network connectivity, as Minister Vaishnav said, being an important part of bringing this hub to connect to the rest of the world.
00:39:03So once more, you know, we would not have been able to move so quickly on this project without the vision that Prime Minister Modi had,
00:39:13and the support of both our Minister Sitaraman and Minister Vaishnav and, of course, with the vision that you had, Chief Minister Naidu, on bringing this technology to help foster India's Vikshid Bharat vision.
00:39:34And our hope is that, in our own way, we're making the contribution to accelerating the timeline from 2047.
00:39:43Thank you very much, Thomas.
00:39:48Minister Lokesh, you have been leading this from the front.
00:39:52In fact, just to share with the audience, I think it all started when, little more than a year back, you visited Google's headquarters in California,
00:40:01and then that was followed by, we had a meeting in Fishnacopatnam, probably a month after that.
00:40:09What's your vision now that we have announced the AI hub?
00:40:14How do we take this and transfer that into real impact for the people?
00:40:21I think it's deja vu.
00:40:23We're one month late, as the Honorable Chief Minister said.
00:40:26We agreed on completing this in 12 months.
00:40:28That's right.
00:40:29So it's going to go in my record that I'm a month late in completing this project.
00:40:34But Vikas, I think it all started over a lunch.
00:40:38And I think it's been an exciting journey.
00:40:41A lot of unsung heroes.
00:40:42Vikas is here.
00:40:43Yolen is here.
00:40:44Alex is here.
00:40:45Ashish are here.
00:40:47A lot of work has gone in.
00:40:49And all of us have worked hard, and your team has been fantastic to work with.
00:40:52Under the visionary leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister and the Honorable Chief Minister,
00:40:58and under the direction of the Honorable Finance Minister, Madam Sitaramanji.
00:41:03And then, of course, under the guidance.
00:41:05I always call him my big brother.
00:41:07Ashwini Ji has been an amazing guidance for me in terms of landing this project.
00:41:12And what you see is India at its best.
00:41:17It shows that state and the central government together can lead it from the front.
00:41:23Data is the new oil, and data centers are the new refineries.
00:41:27At this juncture, I believe it's not about Andhra Pradesh playing an important role in India,
00:41:31but India playing an important role on the global landscape.
00:41:36And this is what excites us.
00:41:38And this is why the entire leadership is aligned in terms of executing this project at this scale.
00:41:45And as the HRD minister, now I think all the senior ministers have given me clear guidance
00:41:52that we have to skill up and we have to embrace AI.
00:41:55We have to look at revamping our curriculum, getting our youngsters ready for the next wave of opportunities.
00:42:04India has been the beneficiary of the IT education in the past.
00:42:08We have seen the Y2K revolution transform cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore.
00:42:13And now we are going to see that AI revolution transforming the next wave of cities, if I may.
00:42:18And that's where education plays a very, very important role.
00:42:21And the Honorable Chief Minister has always understood it.
00:42:24That's why education and IT is under one minister.
00:42:28And the idea is to marry these two and ensure that these result in tangible outcomes in the field level.
00:42:35The other part in the state of Andhra Pradesh is we have something called the real-time governance.
00:42:40This is where AI use cases are being executed, implemented for farmers, for daily wage seekers.
00:42:49How can we fundamentally transform their lives? How can we improve the quality of their life?
00:42:54How can we improve their income levels?
00:42:56So, as the Honorable Chief Minister just stated, one family, one entrepreneur.
00:43:00And this is something we take to our heart.
00:43:03And if you know Andhra Pradesh, once we do take it, we will implement on it.
00:43:06So, these are the kind of transformative changes that we can implement in Andhra Pradesh.
00:43:13I'm sure these use cases can be used for India and the world.
00:43:16But I'll definitely lean on to Google to help us chart this journey.
00:43:22It's very important for you all to give us input.
00:43:24And that will enable us to get our youngsters ready for the next revolution that is at its cusp.
00:43:33And technology is here.
00:43:35And if you look at it as a state, Andhra Pradesh has always embraced the use of technology from day one.
00:43:41Under the Chief Minister's leadership, we've always been ahead of the curve.
00:43:45And I believe we're doing it all over again.
00:43:47So, I'm really excited about this journey.
00:43:48And I'm sure what we've achieved in 13 months.
00:43:51Next time, Maran, we'll do it in 12 months.
00:43:53And this is a historical movement, not only for Andhra and Google, but I think it's a historical movement for Bharat.
00:44:01It's not just about the data center.
00:44:03It's about the kind of services, the kind of economic empowerment we can do at the grassroots level.
00:44:09So, we're really excited as Andhra Pradesh to lead it from the front.
00:44:12And I look forward to working together.
00:44:19Thank you all very much.
00:44:20I can't...
00:44:22I feel the disappointment of missing the 12-month target that Chief Minister Naidu gave us.
00:44:29But I think we did quite well in making it all happen.
00:44:33In 13 months, we really are grateful for all of the support and the sponsorship that we have received.
00:44:42Minister Vaishnava, Minister Siddharaman, Chief Minister Naidu, and Minister Lokesh, you.
00:44:46We're counting on it to build something really great for India and for the state of Andhra Pradesh.
00:44:53Thank you very much for your very precious time.
00:44:56We actually now would take a group photograph together in front.
00:45:00And please, come on in.

00:55:20All right.
00:55:22All right.
00:55:24All right.
00:55:26For that, for all these things, Andhra Pradesh will be the host from Raw Onwards.
00:55:40It is our project, not only Google project, government of Andhra Pradesh will support
00:55:46all possible ways to make it successful.
00:55:50We are having ambitious plan of 15% growth rate.
00:55:54I am confident that there will be a lot of changes, breakthrough changes in all walks
00:56:00of life, either health or agriculture or education or the way we are thinking, everything will
00:56:08change.
00:56:09That is where simple word I am saying now, don't work hard, work smart.
00:56:15That is going to happen.
00:56:16With your entry now, Visagapatnam Korean has given good news, 15 billion US dollars within
00:56:27five years' time.
00:56:28That is a welcome news.
00:56:30Not only that, you have to make, I am having an ambition, one family, one entrepreneur, one
00:56:40family, earlier I told one IT professional, now I am telling one AI use cases they have
00:56:48to prepare, or every family has to use AI, artificial intelligence, in their walks of life, in all
00:56:56walks of life.
00:56:57It is possible, but ethically, and also all security problems, you have to take care.
00:57:04But AI, as such, is not, nobody should oppose, but at the same time, how to protect and how
00:57:13to safeguard ethical values, that is also very important.
00:57:17Thank you very much, Mr. Naito.
00:57:19I really appreciate it.
00:57:21Mr. Vaishnav, as India is really accelerating the AI journey, especially with the India AI mission,
00:57:28how do you see these global partnerships like the AI hub that we announced with a 15 billion
00:57:35dollar investment, how does that contribute to the infrastructure and the journey that
00:57:41India is on, on really being a global leader in AI and innovation, especially with the Vikshad
00:57:47Varad vision in 2047?
00:57:49First of all, let me thank you for making this announcement of 15 billion dollars.
00:57:54This digital infrastructure will go a long way in meeting the goals of our India AI mission.
00:58:02So thank you for that.
00:58:03I would also like to thank Honorable Prime Minister for giving us this vision of using technology
00:58:09in every walk of our life.
00:58:12And all of us who grew up in 80s and 90s, we all know Honorable Chief Minister Shri Naitoji's
00:58:18push for technology, his vision for technology and his execution.
00:58:23So both the Prime Minister and Honorable CM, they never get satisfied.
00:58:29Whatever we do and Lokesh – agree?
00:58:32I agree, sir.
00:58:34Whatever we do, they'll set up totally new standards and that's the way our country
00:58:38will be built towards the developed nation status.
00:58:42I also would like to thank Honorable Finance Minister for very positive, very strong support
00:58:49in this entire policy for data centers.
00:58:53Without your support, ma'am, it wouldn't have been possible to really reach this level.
00:58:59This AI hub will be a very important contribution to the AI mission goals in three different ways.
00:59:06First, skilling.
00:59:08We all know that AI is fundamentally changing the way the world moves today.
00:59:13Under such circumstances, there is a serious concern among a lot of IT professionals of
00:59:19what their jobs will be, how their lives will be impacted.
00:59:23So it's very important for all of us, especially the industry, to reskill and upskill our IT
00:59:31professionals in a major way.
00:59:33Not at a very small scale, but at a very, very, very major rapid scale.
00:59:38At a totally different scale and at a totally different pace.
00:59:43I would request Google to help the IT industry in that.
00:59:47I was having a word with Mr. Korean before coming to this meeting here.
00:59:52AI skilling, reskilling for the IT professionals.
00:59:56Please make it a major part of your entire agenda here.
01:00:00The second thing is about the undersea, subsea cable.
01:00:06My request is that Andaman is a very strategic location.
01:00:12Singapore is today all choked.
01:00:14Why can't we make Andaman as the next big hub for global internet data transfer?
01:00:23From the Government of India's perspective, we'll provide full support for this.
01:00:28Andaman can actually help Google and every other internet-based organization to reach
01:00:36to Southeast Asia, to Australia, to a large part of the world which is today looking at
01:00:44totally new capacity.
01:00:46I'll also make a small little request.
01:00:48Please make a link from Vizag to Sitwe in Myanmar so that we can take the cable up to the northeastern
01:00:58states because northeastern states require much better connectivity.
01:01:03The current connectivity that we are providing via the railway networks, rail-tel network, that
01:01:10requires significant augmentation.
01:01:12And if we can really go via Myanmar to Mizoram, already the railway line up to Sairang is, Mizoram
01:01:19is done.
01:01:20And Honorable Prime Minister has directed us to extend that line all the way to Myanmar border.
01:01:25So, and a highway is already getting constructed from Sitwe.
01:01:29So, that is second thing I'll request you.
01:01:32And the third point I'll request is AI services are emerging as a major new category, as Honorable
01:01:38Chief Minister also said.
01:01:40It's emerging as a totally new category of in our economy, in the digital economy.
01:01:46Can we use this facility for developing the talent, developing the employment potential,
01:01:55for developing our youth for AI services as a totally new category of digital economy?
01:02:02These are the three points I'll request.
01:02:05And of course, you have Mr. Korean just confirmed that a large part of this AI compute facility
01:02:13will be part of the common compute that we have in the AI mission.
01:02:20And we welcome your TPUs to compete with NVIDIA's GPUs.
01:02:24So, we really, we will really look forward to you joining the common compute facility.
01:02:31Yeah.
01:02:32Thank you very much, Minister Vaishnav.
01:02:34Yes, the infrastructure around the AI hub, including the subsequent systems,
01:02:37they're a big part of our vision with India.
01:02:40And we're very committed to working with your team on that.
01:02:44Thomas, can you share a bit more on the importance of today's announcement
01:02:50when it comes to achieving the Vixit Bharat 2047 vision that the Government of India has put out?
01:02:57Really, like from your vantage point, how can this partnership accelerate advances in AI,
01:03:03but more importantly, transforming sector like healthcare, education, agriculture,
01:03:09touching common people's everyday life?
01:03:12It's a, you know, it's a really important day for us because Google,
01:03:18when we started working on AI back in 2006, 2007,
01:03:23at that time AI was not seen as a mainstream technology.
01:03:28And we had this vision that if you can have computational intelligence,
01:03:34it can really assist people in every sector and in every part of the economy.
01:03:40We've had a teacher in Hyderabad send us a note about one of our products
01:03:50and how she used it to build academic curriculum for her class.
01:03:56And she said, I had access to this tool.
01:03:59I just went on the internet and I was able to build a class for my students,
01:04:04which would have been very difficult for me to do before.
01:04:07We're seeing AI being used to answer questions when people are diagnosed with a disease.
01:04:14For example, they go to see a doctor, they're anxious about the diagnosis,
01:04:20and they may have follow on questions.
01:04:23Many of them who live in rural areas may not have access to expert doctors,
01:04:29but now using these AI tools, they're able to get answers to questions.
01:04:34We've seen, for example, people using digital agricultural platforms,
01:04:41farmers, for example, asking very basic questions like what kind of fertilizer do they use?
01:04:49How much do they use?
01:04:51What kind of weather conditions are likely to affect crops?
01:04:56And the knowledge that these tools have can assist them in planning, planting, harvesting a lot better.
01:05:05We're also working with our teams here in India, our engineering teams,
01:05:10to put together digital infrastructure for commerce, for various kinds of –
01:05:16to bring merchants online so it's much easier to offer your products and services to people.
01:05:22And we see AI being used, for example, to build a commerce agent that can help people find products and services they need,
01:05:32transact using newer payment protocols that have no friction and are very easy to use.
01:05:40And so we see all of these as advances in technology that we're bringing through the AI Hub.
01:05:47Now, for us, our vision with this AI Hub has always been to foster the creativity in the entrepreneurial community here in India,
01:05:59to help young people who are growing up to be able to be skilled with these tools and technologies,
01:06:07because any technology requires skills development and training on how to use it.
01:06:13And lastly, through the infrastructure we are putting in place to also connect India with the rest of Asia and directly with the United States.
01:06:25So we see the network connectivity, as Minister Vaishnav said, being an important part of bringing this Hub to connect to the rest of the world.
01:06:37So once more, you know, we would not have been able to move so quickly on this project without the vision that Prime Minister Modi had,
01:06:47and the support of both our Minister Sitaraman and Minister Vaishnav and, of course, with the vision that you had,
01:06:57Chief Minister Naidu, on bringing this technology to help foster India's Vikshid Bharat vision.
01:07:09And our hope is that in our own way, we're making the contribution to accelerating the timeline from 2045.
01:07:16Thank you very much, Thomas.
01:07:23Minister Lokesh, you have been leading this from the front.
01:07:27In fact, just to share with the audience, I think it all started when, a little more than a year back,
01:07:33you visited Google's headquarter in California, and then that was followed by we had a meeting in Visakhapatnam
01:07:40probably a month after that. What's your vision now that we have announced the AI Hub? How do we take this and transfer that into real impact for the people?
01:07:55No, I think it's deja vu. We're one month late, as the Honorable Chief Minister said. We agreed on completing this in 12 months.
01:08:02That's right.
01:08:04So it's going to go in my record that I'm a month late in completing this project.
01:08:08Because I think it all started over lunch. And I think it's been an exciting journey.
01:08:15A lot of unsung heroes – Vikas is here, Yolen is here, Alex is here, Ashish are here.
01:08:21A lot of work has gone in, and all of us have worked hard, and your team has been fantastic to work with.
01:08:27Under the visionary leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister and the Honorable Chief Minister,
01:08:33and under the direction of the Honorable Finance Minister, Madam Sitaramanji,
01:08:38and then, of course, under the guidance – I always call him my big brother.
01:08:42Ashwini Ji has been an amazing guidance for me in terms of landing this project.
01:08:48And what you see is India at its best. It shows that state and the central government together can lead it from the front.
01:08:56You know, data is the new oil, and data centers are the new refineries.
01:09:01At this juncture, I believe it's not about Andhra Pradesh playing an important role in India,
01:09:06but India playing an important role on the global landscape.
01:09:11And this is what excites us, and this is why, you know, the entire leadership is aligned
01:09:16in terms of executing this project at this scale.
01:09:19And as the HRT minister – now, I think all the senior ministers have given me clear guidance
01:09:25that we have to skill up and we have to embrace AI.
01:09:31We have to look at revamping our curriculum, getting our youngsters ready for the next wave of opportunities.
01:09:38India has been the beneficiary of the IT education in the past.
01:09:42We have seen the Y2K revolution transform cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore.
01:09:47And now we are going to see that AI revolution transforming the next wave of cities, if I may.
01:09:53And that's where education plays a very, very important role.
01:09:56And the Honorable Chief Minister has always understood it.
01:09:59That's why education and IT is under one minister.
01:10:02And the idea is to marry these two and ensure that these result in tangible outcomes in the field level.
01:10:10The other part in the state of Andhra Pradesh is we have something called the real-time governance.
01:10:15This is where AI use cases are being executed, implemented for farmers, for daily wage seekers.
01:10:24How can we fundamentally transform their lives? How can we improve the quality of their life?
01:10:28How can we improve their income levels?
01:10:30So as the Honorable Chief Minister just stated, one family, one entrepreneur.
01:10:34And this is something we take to our heart.
01:10:37And if you know Andhra Pradesh, once we do take it, we will implement on it.
01:10:41So these are the kind of transformative changes that we can implement in Andhra Pradesh.
01:10:47And I'm sure these use cases can be used for India and the world.
01:10:51But I'll definitely lean on to Google to help us chart this journey.
01:10:57It's very important for you all to give us input.
01:11:00And that will enable us to get our youngsters ready for the next revolution that is at its cusp.
01:11:08And technology is here. And if you look at it as a state, Andhra Pradesh has always embraced the use of technology
01:11:14from day one under the Chief Minister's leadership, we've always been ahead of the curve.
01:11:19And I believe we're doing it all over again.
01:11:21So I'm really excited about this journey.
01:11:23And I'm sure what we've achieved in 13 months, next time around, we'll do it in 12 months.
01:11:28And this is a historical moment, not only for Andhra and Google,
01:11:33but I think it's a historical moment for Bharat.
01:11:36It's not just about a data center. It's about the kind of services,
01:11:39the kind of economic empowerment we can do at the grassroots level.
01:11:43So we're really excited, as Andhra Pradesh, to lead it from the front.
01:11:46And I look forward to working together. Thank you.
01:11:50Thank you all very much.
01:11:55I feel the disappointment of missing the 12-month target that Chief Minister Naidu gave us.
01:12:04But I think we did quite well in making it all happen.
01:12:07In 13 months, we really are grateful for all of the support and the sponsorship that we have received,
01:12:16Minister Vaishnava, Minister Siddharth Raman, Chief Minister Naidu, and Minister Lokesh, you.
01:12:22We're counting on it to build something really great for India and for the state of Andhra Pradesh.
01:12:27Thank you very much for your very precious time.
01:12:30We actually now would take a group photograph together in front.
01:12:35And please, come on.
01:12:37Thank you very much.
01:12:40Thank you very much.
01:12:55All right.
01:13:25All right.
01:13:55All right.
01:14:25All right.
01:14:27All right.
01:14:29All right.
01:14:31All right.
01:14:33All right.
01:14:35All right.
01:14:37All right.
01:14:39All right.
01:14:41All right.
01:14:45All right.
