00:00If you are a Blue Jays fan, and so many people are right now, viewer discretion advised.
00:05Game two is not going well.
00:08The game isn't over yet, but the Jays are down 9-3 now to the Seattle Mariners.
00:14CBC's Greg Ross joins us from Rogers Centre.
00:17And Greg, bring us up to speed on what's happening in this game.
00:21Well, this is a complete debacle.
00:23A good thing you let the viewers know that discretion is advised on this one.
00:28Tough night for Blue Jays fans, and you know, you look behind me, we're starting to see them trickle out.
00:33Here's a Blue Jays fan who's already left.
00:36You said, I'm going to go walk the dogs.
00:38Yeah, I am actually going to walk my dogs, but that's not why I'm leaving.
00:44I'm leaving because actually Seattle's a better team.
00:48We don't have a prayer.
00:49Wow, that's a Blue Jays fan who is, you're a season ticket holder too.
00:53Yeah, season tickets, pay a fortune.
00:56We belong to the club.
00:58And I'll keep doing that because I believe in the Blue Jays.
01:01But you don't believe in them this season.
01:03You're giving up.
01:04This year is not their year.
01:05I don't know what happened, but they have frozen solid.
01:09Okay, well, I'll tell you, not a lot of people going into this game or into this series were feeling that way,
01:13but maybe some minds have been changed.
01:15Let's tell you what's happened in this game.
01:17Treyas Savage, the 22-year-old sensation for the Blue Jays, had the start on the hill.
01:21I bet you you were feeling pretty confident with him going to the mound after the way he pitched in the division series.
01:27Not his night.
01:28And it started early with Julio Rodriguez, a three-run home run in the top of the first inning.
01:33And that was, it was just all downhill for the Blue Jays.
01:36I mean, I'll just read you the line on your Savage.
01:38Four innings pitched, five earned runs.
01:41We've never seen him have problems like that before.
01:43Four hits, three walks, four strikeouts.
01:46We've seen him have much more luck when it comes to the strikeouts.
01:49He just wasn't at his best in this game.
01:52And as you said, Ian, the Blue Jays now down 10-3 in the top of the seven.
01:58This is unheard of.
01:59Guerrero isn't stepping up.
02:02Little Kirk isn't stepping up.
02:05He can't seem to move fast enough.
02:07Offense, a big part of this Blue Jays team.
02:10That offense just not producing so far in this series.
02:13And again, down 10-3 in the top of the seventh.
02:17They are a team that's come back many times.
02:1949 times in the regular season.
02:21They need a big comeback in this one tonight, Ian.
02:24Yeah, listen.
02:25You know, you are so good, Greg, at doing these live hits at events and talking to fans.
02:31And that fan you found there, I think she's got it right.
02:34There she is, a season ticket holder.
02:36Like, so many people were so excited after the win against the Yankees.
02:41But really, what the Blue Jays have shown in the last two games makes you wonder.
02:46Can you ask her before she goes, for the people in Vancouver, I know they may be reluctant to go down to the States.
02:51But they were thinking maybe of buying tickets to games 3, 4, or if necessary, 5.
02:55Just ask her if you think they should do that.
02:57All right, well, Ian, our host is asking, do you think the fans may be in British Columbia, fans that go down and watch the Blue Jays play in Seattle, do you think they should make the trip across the border, get tickets to go watch the Blue Jays play Game 3 on Wednesday night?
03:13I don't think anyone should make a trip across the border, ever.
03:17But that has nothing to do with baseball.
03:19Okay, that's getting a little political.
03:21I get it.
03:22But there are a lot of fans that love to go watch the Blue Jays.
03:25You don't think it's a good idea with the way the team's playing right now?
03:29I just know that we're not going to do it this year.
03:31All right, this is a fan that is confident the Blue Jays aren't going to do it.
03:35If they lose this game, and it's not looking good right now, down 10-3, they'll be down 2-0 in a big hole in this series.
03:43They'll have to go to Seattle for games 3, 4, and 5.
03:47Three games in a row, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
03:50Now, the problem for the Blue Jays is they haven't been as good on the road this season.
03:54A 40-41 record away from the Rogers Centre.
03:56They were amazing at the Rogers Centre during the regular season, not so much in this series.
04:01Maybe things have changed.
04:02Who knows?
04:03But the Blue Jays need to come up big, Ian, on the road in this series.
04:07If they want to get back into it, she doesn't think they're going to.
04:10They're frozen in terror.
04:12Yeah, Greg, as talented as you are, Greg, the next time we do a live hit on the game, she's going to do it.
04:20Not you.
04:21The CBC's Greg Grotz at Rogers Centre.
04:22We're just going to hand you the mic next time.
04:24That's right, in Toronto.
04:25Thanks to both of you.
04:26Take good care of it.
