Seb Burnside, NatWest/Royal Bank of Scotland chief economist discussing the latest growth tracker report
Transcript
00:00Welcome to this summary of the Royal Bank of Scotland's growth tracker for the Scotland.
00:07September was a month of contrasts when it came to business performance according to our growth
00:15tracker as businesses told us that whilst they saw a little bit less growth in activity during
00:23that month they had higher expectations for growth coming in the future. Perhaps that's one of the
00:31factors supporting the stronger level of hiring and employment activity in Scotland particularly
00:37compared to other parts of the UK that are scoring much lower on that front but whilst the demand
00:44outlook particularly in Scotland's export markets was strong it's fair to say that many businesses
00:52across the country are battling with higher costs and that feeding through into higher inflation.
